What are some good gift ideas to give my boyfriend for our 2nd anniversary?
Q. Okay, so our 2nd anniversary is July 1st, and I'm having trouble thinking of gift ideas. He's 16 and I'm 19 and we aren't going to kiss or anything until we get married so anything like sex is out of the question. Also it can't be too big cuz I don't know how much he'll be spending on me.
Last year I got us bff necklaces becuz we were bffs first. But now I need a new idea. Thanx!

A. A special gift has to be totally unique so am thinking a nice handcrafted wooden accessory box. I gave my boyfriend a MarqART accessory box for his birthday a few months ago and he says he doesn't know how he managed before that. He now keeps all his stuff in it .. like coin collection, keys, mobile, etc and says he hasn't lost anything in a while .. earlier he was constantly looking for stuff.

What Do You Get Your Father For A Graduation Gift?

Q. My father just finished nursing school and I need a gift idea. He is a real man's man and loves music and soccer. Any Ideas? (Please keep under $30 range!

A. The bear idea is cute...but if he is a "real man's man" he may not be that into it.

If he's just become a nurse...how about a brand new stethscope or a nice pen....something he'll use everyday and think of you :)

Sensa pens are awesome, they come in a lot of different styles that can be matched to his personality. They are $20 - $40 typically. You can find find them at most office supply stores (Staples, Office Depot, etc..) To find a retailer near you: http://www.sensa.com/index.php

In the end, simply give him something from your heart, even if it's a nice card w/ a gift certificate to Starbucks...it really is the thought!

Congrats to your dad! :)

What should I get my boyfriend for his birthday?
Q. We have been together for 4 years and I have run out of ideas! He's very hard to shop for because his main interest seems to be very expensive (electronics/computers).

Any ideas? I have about a $100 limit (cheaper would be better though, school is expensive!).
Also open to homemade gift ideas as well.

Thanks!

A. A nice cake in his favorite flavor with an envelope under the plate with a gift certificate for a great restaurant dinner of his favorite food and a movie or something else u both enjoy, later. Home made gift could be if u have a photo of u 2 on a fun day u had together, have it enlarged and framed in an attractive frame. And a cake. Most guys love cake. Bake it urself or go to the best bakery known for great stuff. This should all be well with in your $$$$ limit. Enjoy the day. Oh and if he wears fragrance, go to the cosmetic counter of a major dept store and sample mens fragrances and get one that smells o so good to you. (that is if both of u love fragrance, some people are allergic.) In any case I would include the cake. Some restaurants will bring over a cake u bring in, and surprise him with it, or even offer a complimentary dessert. so u could invite him out to eat to a place that does this. The wait staff (check this out) may gather around and sing and the othr diners at times will join in the fun and sing too. U need to know ur guys personality, some would love this while others might be mortally embarrased, Ive known both kinds of men. take care.

What is a good gift idea to send my deployed husband for our 2 year Anniversary?

Q. What is a unique or thoughfull gift idea to send my husband for our 2 year wedding anniversary? It is on July 1st. I want it to be special. He is in IRAQ.

A. I think the ladies have said it best; send him a pillowcase from home with you perfme in it, a sexy something that you wear often, also with your favorite perfume, add to that a long letter describing how much you love him and how you yearn for his warm embrace (okay, I'm getting tacky now) :D.

Then send him pictures of you, the kids (if you have kids), family, home and things you all like to do together. That would bring him closer to home.

And please ignore the political comments; posting stupid stuff is not a crime yet. GOd bless your husband and you for being such a noble military wife.

What are some gag gift ideas for a Sheriff Sergeant?

A. One of those cheap role-playing police sets for kids with whistle, badge, cuffs and maybe even a handgun all made of plastic.

Inexpensive birthday party gift ideas for 7 year old boy?
Q. Although we (I have twin boys) appreciate being invited to a classmate's birthday party, seems we get invited to many. It gets expensive and hard to even come up with an affordable gift idea. Not to be ungrateful to be included, but it also seems the kids who have the large, elaborate, invite everyone, parties are also kids who already have anything and everything they want, so any gift they might want or would be impressed by would be more than we could spend (bakugan, redakai, etc.) Ideas?

A. The past few birthday parties we have gone to I have gotten the presents from the dollar store. The kids don't know the difference and alot of times they like the cheaper gifts. Crayons, coloring books, bouncy balls, the things you put in water and they get bigger.

What are some meaningful ring bearer gifts for a 2 1/2 year old child?
Q. I would like to know if anyone has some good ring bearer gift ideas. My best friend is getting married, and her ring bearers are two 2 1/2 year old boys. She would like to get them something meaningful and appreciate later on in life and not just some little kid toy. (Her wedding is in ten days, and it would really mean a lot to her if she got some good ideas) Thanks so much.

A. A toddler does not have the capacity to appreciate a meaningful gift. No offense, I think your friend is doing this more for herself than for them.

I say, make sure she gets some good photos with them on her wedding day. When they are older she can have these printed and framed or used in a scrapbook. Im sure when they are older they will enjoy looking at the pictures and they will see how happy they all were on that wedding day. Honestly, photos are one of the most meaningful gifts you can give a person.

I need to find out more about this character on GH?

Q. I have been watching GH for a year now and so far my fav character is Jerry Jacks. I've always had a thing for bad boys. Anyways I looked up his character on Wikipedia but it didn't tell me much. Can anyone please give me more info about Jerry Jacks??

A. here is the character profile from soap opera central( great source)

FYI
GH changed the character when they brought him back ( recasted)
the orginal jerry was a Rogue but not a villian

http://www.soapcentral.com/gh/whoswho/jerry.php
___________________________________________________

Brief Character History

Jerry is originally from Australia, but he and his family moved to Alaska. Jerry was first seen having a fistfight with Jax in his penthouse; that was their way of solving arguments. He came to Port Charles to meet his brother's soon-to-be-wife Brenda. He got involved with Bobbie Spencer Jones, and for the first time in his life he has fallen in love. Before moving to Port Charles Jerry had never really stayed in one place for very long, but he eventually considered Port Charles to be home. He was arrested along with his brother and father, when the FBI discovered that their company had been started with drug money. They lost everything, but the Jacks' brother managed to bounce back quite well. Despite Jerry's bitterness that Jax had always been the golden child, while he had to scrape by and also protect Jax, Jax saved him from a prison sentence. Jax and Jerry eventually became very close.

At the 1999 Nurses Ball, a tape of Jerry and Bobbie making love was accidentally spliced into Emily Quartermaine's documentary (Emily had left her camera in a room at the hospital; Jerry and Bobbie had no idea the camera was there), embarrassing them in front of the entire town. Both handled the reaction very well, not too surprising considering their outcast status throughout many parts of their lives.

After Jerry nearly died in a car crash, Jerry and Bobbie planned to marry, amidst his promises that his illegal activities were behind him. Jason and Sonny were able to learn that he was laundering money for crime lord Moreno. Jax frantically tried to save his brother from arrest. Roy DiLucca, in trying to bring down Sonny, gave the FBI a series of account numbers that led them straight to Jerry. He was arrested in the middle of his wedding to Bobbie. Jerry asked Bobbie to run away with him, but she refused. Jax got him out on bail and Sonny managed to help him skip town after a tearful good-bye to Jax on the docks. Bobbie missed the chance to say goodbye, showing up moments after his departure, but he called her later. Jerry last made his presence known by sending Bobbie a Christmas gift shortly after going on the run.

Jerry would resurface in Port Charles in January 2007, however he used the assumed name, James Craig, and he had undergone radical plastic surgery to change his appearance. As James Craig, he was a liaison between Lorenzo Alcazar and a criminal cartel. They were in the final stages of conducting a business transaction worth a substantial fortune when things went terribly wrong. Lorenzo had several pans in the fire and one of them was to kill Sonny. In a bold move, Lorenzo walked into Sonny's office intending to shoot him. Carly's unexpected arrival gave Sonny the time he needed to draw his own gun. Lorenzo was shot in the head and nearly died. When he woke up he initially had amnesia putting his lover, Skye in a very delicate position. James Craig needed answers starting with where Lorenzo had put a briefcase containing the merchandise that was being moved. Skye tried to handle the arms deal for Lorenzo but she was out of her element. It wasn't long before James figured out that Lorenzo had hidden the briefcase in the Metro Court Hotel safe with its state of the art security system. When Lorenzo collapsed from complications of the shooting and surgery, James Craig decided to take action.

With masked gunmen, James Craig stormed the Metro Court Hotel on the eve of a hospital gala. The plan was to get in, get the briefcase and get out. Their plans hit a snag when new employee, Sam McCall hit the silent alarm locking one of the hostages, Maxie Jones, and gunmen inside the vault along with the briefcase. James was livid when he learned that the vault was on a time lock and that it would be hours before it would re-open. Robin Scorpio became the first to be used as an example. James shot her in cold blood, critically injuring her and later forcing Emily, Carly and Liz to operate to save her life. As James and his armed gunmen spent the hours terrorizing and abusing the hostages, the police were preparing to storm the hotel. At one point, Emily was made to choose between her best friend Liz, who appeared to be in labor, and her father, who had suffered a series of heart attacks. Alan was eventually released but it would be too late. The damage to his heart was extensive and he died shortly after the hostage crisis came to an explosive end.

After the hotel explosion, James managed to get his hands on the briefcase and escape. He turned up a short time later, this time at Wyndemere. He injected Nikolas with a deadly substance and told him that he would need an antidote every 2

HELP me name some things you can make 4 Christmas gifts?
Q. HERES some i have thought of.
Christmas cookies.
YARN creations.
WOOD bird houses
WREATHS made from out door things
DO you have some ideas?
I thought about home made bread
HOME made pies
HOME made sweet rolls

A. dollar store baskets...
i have a couple.
a movie basket, put together with old classic movies (4) ,two microwave popcorn packs, a two liter of soda, some chocolate, nuts.....

just an idea.

now, you can also purchase a small glass vase from the dollar store, throw in some potpourri, a strand of christmas dollar store lights (battery operated or plug in kind), top it off with a dollar store dolly, tie with some dollar store ribbon. when you plug them in (or turn them on) it heats up the oils in the potpourri....smells great, looks great and usually you can make up to three of these, however, i managed to make two (full of potpourri).

bascially it will cost a dollar per item, however, ribbon can go a long way and potpourri will too. the only thing you need to double up on is the jar or vase you put it all in. the dollies usually come in twos.

the movie thing will cost a dollar per item. you can use the leftover ribbon to decorate the basket or to tie the movies together with a bow.

outdoors? wow! love it.....if you know a neighbor who has one of those gumball trees, that'd be perfect! (gumballs are these little spiked ball looking things...or maybe its a sweet gum tree...) anyway, my neighbors trees gave me plenty.
using a wood glue stick and gun of course, glue the balls together going around an old plate as a guidline to a circle.
make two rows. next, apply the third ring ontop of the two rings you placed side by side. it will cover the gap between the two rows and give it a little more demension.
you can leave it brown or you can spray paint them different colors. you can either make them christmas-y or you can take the favorite color of whomever it is and build your theme around that color.

you can even make snowmen out of those balls, christmas tree's....basically anything...you can even make them minature bird feeders by applying peanut butter to them and rolling them in seed-but don't forget the string to hang them with! I used a christmas tree ornament hanger to hang them on my bushes....bird lovers will love those as presents!

cookies are good....
a rule of thumb:
simple cookie dough recipe
2 cups flour
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 sticks softened butter
2 eggs, tsp vanilla, tsp baking soda, tsp salt

cream eggs/sugar/vanilla
mix dry ingredients
blend together and bake 375

the options using the cookie recipe is simple....just add no more than a cup of your choice, ie, nuts, candy pieces.

instead of the usual this year, how bout go all out and create a good bbq sauce recipe! you can even cheat and use kraft original bbq sauce, but add mango/peach fruit spread, some more brown sugar and a bit of honey. add a bit of fresh lemon.....blend it all up and place in individual containers. refrigerate. tie the recipe on with a ribbon.

coupon books! if you have time, these work great for those who can't take care of their yard the way they used to. offer your services, ie, one free yard cutting, window washing, car cleaning, errands of all kinds.....make up about 10 different types of things you would think would be hard for an elderly person to do.

have fun! the gift of giving is more special with home made ideas!!!! (and you don't give into all that high dollar stuff!)

Gift ideas or places to go for boyfriend's birthday?
Q. My boyfriend will be 23 on March 31 and I am getting him a tattoo for his birthday but i want to get him a little something else (because he is spoiled). I was wondering if there are any cool places to visit (i live in the Boston, MA area) or if anyone has any cool gift ideas for this gun and motorcycle lover. He has a Victory 8 Ball (motorcycle) has several guns and goes shooting all the time. He is your typical country boy who loves big wheels, big lifts, cars, trucks, bikes, guns..etc. He loves his toys! :)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

If two people love each other why can't they manage a relationship.?
Q. I've known this girl for twenty years, seven years ago we got together and had a good relationship, but over the years we argued over and over again. We have now split up and still declare love for each other. Whats wrong with us.

A. Falling in love is the ultimate act of revolution, of resistance to today's tedious, socially restrictive, culturally constrictive, humanly meaningless world.

Love transforms the world. Where the lover formerly felt boredom, he now feels passion. Where she once was complacent, she now is excited and compelled to self-asserting action. The world which once seemed empty and tiresome becomes filled with meaning, filled with risks and rewards, with majesty and danger. Life for the lover is a gift, an adventure with the highest possible stakes; every moment is memorable, heartbreaking in its fleeting beauty. When he falls in love, a man who once felt disoriented, alienated, and confused will know exactly what he wants. Suddenly his existence will make sense to him; suddenly it becomes valuable, even glorious and noble, to him. Burning passion is an antidote that will cure the worst cases of despair and resigned obedience.

Love makes it possible for individuals to connect to others in a meaningful wayit impels them to leave their shells and risk being honest and spontaneous together, to come to know each other in profound ways. Thus love makes it possible for them to care about each other genuinely, rather than at the end of the gun of Christian doctrine. But at the same time, it plucks the lover out of the routines of everyday life and separates her from other human beings. She will feel a million miles away from the herd of humanity, living as she is in a world entirely different from theirs.

In this sense love is subversive, because it poses a threat to the established order of our modern lives. The boring rituals of workday productivity and socialized etiquette will no longer mean anything to a man who has fallen in love, for there are more important forces guiding him than mere inertia and deference to tradition. Marketing strategies that depend upon apathy or insecurity to sell the products that keep the economy running as it does will have no effect upon him. Entertainment designed for passive consumption, which depends upon exhaustion or cynicism in the viewer, will not interest him.

There is no place for the passionate, romantic lover in today's world, business or private. For he can see that it might be more worthwhile to hitchhike to Alaska (or to sit in the park and watch the clouds sail by) with his sweetheart than to study for his calculus exam or sell real estate, and if he decides that it is, he will have the courage to do it rather than be tormented by unsatisfied longing. He knows that breaking into a cemetery and making love under the stars will make for a much more memorable night than watching television ever could. So love poses a threat to our consumer-driven economy, which depends upon consumption of (largely useless) products and the labor that this consumption necessitates to perpetuate itself.

Similarly, love poses a threat to our political system, for it is difficult to convince a man who has a lot to live for in his personal relationships to be willing to fight and die for an abstraction such as the state; for that matter, it may be difficult to convince him to even pay taxes. It poses a threat to cultures of all kinds, for when human beings are given wisdom and valor by true love they will not be held back by traditions or customs which are irrelevant to the feelings that guide them.

Love even poses a threat to our society itself. Passionate love is ignored and feared by the bourgeoisie, for it poses a great danger to the stability and pretense they covet. Love permits no lies, no falsehoods, not even any polite half-truths, but lays all emotions bare and reveals secrets which domesticated men and women cannot bear. You cannot lie with your emotional and sexual response; situations or ideas will excite or repel you whether you like it or not, whether it is polite or not, whether it is advisable or not. One cannot be a lover and a (dreadfully) responsible, (dreadfully) respectable member of today's society at the same time; for love will impel you to do things which are not "responsible" or "respectable." True love is irresponsible, irrepressible, rebellious, scornful of cowardice, dangerous to the lover and everyone around her, for it serves one master alone: the passion that makes the human heart beat faster. It disdains anything else, be it self-preservation, obedience, or shame. Love urges men and women to heroism, and to antiheroismto indefensible acts that need no defense for the one who loves.

For the lover speaks a different moral and emotional language than the typical bourgeois man does. The average bourgeois man has no overwhelming, smoldering desires. Sadly, all he knows is the silent despair that comes of spending his life pursuing goals set for him by his family, his educators, his employers, his nation, and his culture, without ever being able to even consider what needs and wants he might have of his own. Without the burning fire of desire to guide him, he has no criteria upon which to choose what is right and wrong for himself. Consequently he is forced to adopt some dogma or doctrine to direct him through his life. There are a wide variety of moralities to choose from in the marketplace of ideas, but which morality a man buys into is immaterial so long as he chooses one because he is at a loss otherwise as to what he should do with himself and his life. How many men and women, having never realized that they had the option to choose their own destinies, wander through life in a dull haze thinking and acting in accordance with the laws that have been taught to them, merely because they no longer have any other idea of what to do? But the lover needs no prefabricated principles to direct her; her desires identify what is right and wrong for her, for her heart guides her through life. She sees beauty and meaning in the world, because her desires paint the world in these colors. She has no need for dogmas, for moral systems, for commandments and imperatives, for she knows what to do without instructions.

Thus she does indeed pose quite a threat to our society. What if everyone decided right and wrong for themselves, without any regard for conventional morality? What if everyone did whatever they wanted to, with the courage to face any consequences? What if everyone feared loveless, lifeless monotony more than they fear taking risks, more than they fear being hungry or cold or in danger? What if everyone set down their "responsibilities" and "common sense," and dared to pursue their wildest dreams, to set the stakes high and live each day as if it were the last? Think what a place the world would be! Certainly it would be different than it is nowand it is quite a truism that people from the "mainstream," the simultaneous keepers and victims of the status quo, fear change.

And so, despite the stereotyped images used in the media to sell toothpaste and honeymoon suites, genuine passionate love is discouraged in our culture. Being "carried away by your emotions" is frowned upon; instead we are raised to always be on our guard lest our hearts lead us astray. Rather than being encouraged to have the courage to face the consequences of risks taken in pursuit of our hearts' desires, we are counseled not to take risks at all, to be "responsible." And love itself is regulated. Men must not fall in love with other men, nor women with other women, nor individuals from different ethnic backgrounds with each other, or else the usual bigots who form the front-line offensive in the assault of modern Western culture upon the individual will step in. Men and women who have already entered into a legal/religious contract with each other are not to fall in love with anyone else, even if they no longer feel any passion for their marital partner. Love as most of us know it today is a carefully prescribed and preordained ritual, something that happens on Friday nights in expensive movie theaters and restaurants, something that fills the pockets of the shareholders in the entertainment industries without preventing workers from showing up to the office on time and ready to reroute phone calls all day long. This regulated, commercial "love" is nothing like the passionate, burning love that consumes the genuine lover. These restrictions, expectations, and regulations smother true love; for love is a wild flower that can never grow within the confines prepared for it but only appears where it is least expected.

We must fight against these cultural restraints that would cripple and smother our desires. For it is love that gives meaning to life, desire that makes it possible for us to make sense of our existence and find purpose in our lives. Without these, there is no way for us to determine how to live our lives, except to submit to some authority, to some god, master or doctrine that will tell us what to do and how to do it without ever giving us the satisfaction that self-determination does. So fall in love today, with men, with women, with music, with ambition, with yourself. . . with life!

One might say that it is ridiculous to implore others to fall in loveone either falls in love or one does not, it is not a choice that can be made consciously. Emotions do not follow the instructions of the rational mind. But the environment in which we must live out our lives has a great influence on our emotions, and we can make rational decisions that will affect this environment. It should be possible to work to change an environment that is hostile to love into an environment that will encourage it. Our task must be to engineer our world so that it is a world in which people can and do fall in love, and thus to reconstitute human beings so that we will be ready for the "revolution" spoken of in these pagesso that we will be able to find meaning and happi

Ideas for a Christian themed birthday party?

Q. I need fun ideas! This party will mostly consist of women from the ages of 20-40. We are not corny women but we would like to play fun games that involved having to move around or thinking. I want to give away prizes. They will also be brining foods. A few themes that some of the other ladies did for other birthday parties were Mardi-Gras and soup and salads. I was thinking about doing a spanish, luau, or even "different countries" type themes.

I welcome any ideas, Thank you!

And it has to be big enough so I can carry it home with my books and backpack. Its a 30 minute walk from school to walgreens, then its a 40 min. walk back home.
My moms brithday is on Monday, so I'm going to buy her a surpise present monday =) (where i live theirs no shops or malls so it had to be from walgreens.)
or mabye even the thirf store, but thats farther.
Thanks.(My moms turning 46)

A. Walgreens wouldn't be my first choice for a birthday present, but I think you could come up with something. They have a lot more gift items in now because of the holidays.

Perfume sounds like a nice idea, but in reality it's really hard to buy for someone else, especially when you're looking for something cheap. Maybe better to go for something like bath soaps or something.

You can buy a box of assorted chocolates. That's a good go-to gift in a pinch.

Since you say there aren't stores around you, I'm guessing you live in a small town or something? Someplace where people are more likely to be friendly and helpful? I ask because your best bet may be to ask one of the employees at Walgreens to help you. They'll have a good idea of the sort of things that are in the store, and you may even find a woman your mom's age who can advise you.

Good House / Bad House... I want to buy this house but it needs major work. What would you do?
Q. Good House -
1.)It's old - mid 1800's & I love that fact.
2.)It's big - 3500 sq feet & we need big.
3.)It's cheep - less than $40,000
4.)It has a large Yard - 1 &1/2 acre

Bad house -
1.) the intire house needs work - basically we are buying the shell & bare studs. Some of the rooms up stair have been redone.
2.) not livable at this time.
3.) really far from family & jobs - about an hour with good driving conditions.

I'm all excited but I'm not sure if this is as great of an idea as I want it to be.

A. I have been restoring for over 30 yrs. I've regretted it many times, but can't think of anything better when I look back to see how far I've come. Things to think about, besides what the previous post said.
1. how much time are you willing to give? How much are you willing to give up??? As in social life, educational opportunites, sports, etc.
2. How committed are you to compleating a dream? You must be completely clear in how much this means to you AND whomever else is in your life. It's terribly romantic to think about the two of you starting life in this great old house, but it must be equally wanted by both of you. It doesn't work if one of you is a workhorse and the other just wants the hammock on Sat. Try working together on another project. If you don't have a home of your own, volunteer on someone else's.
3. Are you time oriented or task oriented? Is it more important for you to finish what you start before you knock off, or to stop so you can fix dinner because it is 6:00 o'clock and the news is on?
4. Do you have any allergies to dust? If you are living in this while working on it, you will be letting a lot of house work slide, because it will be more important to do something else like scrape paint or wallpaper, relay pipe or A/C ducts, or complete the bath framing.
5. Do you have skills in this? Are there people you can call in an emergency to help you out? How much support can you count on from others when you get in trouble? How resourceful are you? HOw good are you at making do? If you are a woman, how will you react to a drill, sander or pipe wrench for a birthday gift?
6. What is your financial resourcefullness? How creative are you at finding and using money?
These houses go cheaply because they are not technologically current. You will have to have the financial resources to upgrade them. Make sure you have at least enough cash to replace the electrical wiring, making it superior to code minimum. That should be item #3, after a good roof #1 and strong foundation #2. Plumbing is #4. Anything cosmetic should take a second seat. And NEVER paint anything until you have scraped, spackled, sanded and primed first.

All this being said, if you have examined your soul and still feel this is the right move, go to oldhouses.com and read the old house blogs. Many restorers have kept running documents on their houses and their experiences. Read these through thoroughly, and be aware that some people will write with an ear to their audience, glossing over what the real difficulties are. Contact me off line if you need more info.

What do you get the woman who has almost everything?
Q. My sister is turning 40 and I can't think of the just right gift for her. She is married and they are financially very comfortable and she is able to buy pretty much whatever she wants and does. I however am on a pretty small budget but want to get her something special. I have already over done the coupons, massages, scrapbooks, baby sitting offers, etc. I am stumped. Her husband is throwing her a huge surprise party which I am helping organize but when it comes to the gift I am at a loss. If anyone can provide some ideas or inspiration I would be so grateful.

A. Since it is her 40th Birthday why not a over the hill gag gift?
Just an idea...

Where do you turn to for toy recommendations when you need to buy a present for a child?

Q. Would like to hear from parents, aunts/uncles, grandparents, teachers or anyone who has at least 1 special child in their life. What are the best/most reliable sources of information with regards to the best toys or good gift ideas for kids?

A. When I have a toy idea for any of my kids or friend's kids I like to check amazon.com. I will some times buy from there but for the most part I check their reviews. I have saved myself a number of times by checking there first. Good Luck!

Need some funny gift ideas for Father inlaw?
Q. He likes to send goofy stuff to our teenage son for Christmas. This year we are sending the grandparents a gag gift package. We have already picked up a huge Remote Control and Calculator. We're thinking about getting them The Clapper and possibly a Giant Clock. We need some funny gift ideas. They have a great sense of humor. Can you give us some ideas on what kind of products we could buy that old people could use. Inexpensive ideas please. That way we can include several things in this gift box.
Thanks!

A. Ex-lax, old glasses, ben gay, hemorrhoid cream, polyester clothes. Have fun

What kind of gifts should I get for people I don't know?
Q. I am going to meet my grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousin for the first time. I will be bringing these presents with me on the airplane so I can't get bath sets or something like that like I wanted to. Any ideas for what I should get them that is allowed on the airplane? Gift ideas for women and ideas for men as Christmas presents. Thank you!

A. give them money, so they can buy what they want :)

What are some inexpensive Christmas gift ideas for grandparents?
Q. My daughter will be 15 months at Christmas...we are extremely tight on money. What would be a good gift for the grandparents from all of us?

A. Go to a craft store like Michaels and take along your 40% off coupon from the Sunday paper. Buy some 'Model Magic'. It's like playdoh but lighter and air dries. Roll out some about 1/2" thick and then have your daughter press her hand into it. When it dries, you can coat it with clear craft paint or leave it as is. Glue a magnet on the back of it and it is the best refrigerator magnet. I gave these to my daughter's grandparents four years ago and they STILL have them on the fridge and STILL love them.

If you are looking for a gift for them from just you and your husband consider a small basket of old time candies. If you go to Cracker Barrel they have a bunch of different kinds. Older folks appreciate gifts of food and they will have a good time eating their way down memory lane. Hope this helps!

Any ideas for inexpensive homemade gifts for family and friends?
Q. This Christmas will have to be an inexpensive Christmas for me when it comes to giving gifts to my family and friends. I have been trying to think of gifts that I can make myself without spending a lot of money. My main goal is to make something that people will really like, either for practical use or pure enjoyment. I am at my wits end for ideas. Does anyone out there have any homemade gift ideas for men and women? Can you share some of your ideas that have been real successful? All serious replies are appreciated. Thanks for your time everyone.

A. Baked goods are liked by everyone. You could make up a couple of batches of cookies, get cute plates at the dollar store, wrap in colored cellophane, tie with a colored ribbon and a candy cane and you have nice gifts for your family and friends, without too much expense.

What are some gift ideas for meeting my girlfriend's parents for first time?
Q. I am meeting my girlfriend's parents for the first time in under two weeks. I'm not a 'youngin', so I have been down this road before, but 20+ years ago.

What are other gift ideas beyond wine and flowers? For further refinement, we are meeting for dinner in a restaurant.

A. Hey I think you can get them something practical yet personal. For the mom, you can get her a nice pair of gloves. I recommend you check out KinaRosa on Etsy ( http://www.etsy.com/shop/kinarosa ) These gloves are handmade, very high quality. They are unique yet affordable. My mom loves the gloves. I am sure it'll be a great gift for your girlfriend's mom since it's winter time. If you are not sure what color to buy, go for black, chocolate brown or burgundy red. They are safe colors that every woman loves.

For the dad, do you know what he likes? I think it's always good to go for more practical gifts for men. If he like cigars, you can buy him a nice box of cigars. If he like coffee, get him some good coffee beans. If you really don't know what he likes, you can get him a nice pen. My dad likes pens from Cross. They are not too expensive, but they are good pens.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your gift searching!

My mom is finishing her last chemo treatment next Thursday, any gift ideas?
Q. I would like to get her a creative little gift to let her know I'm proud of her & let her know that she is a very strong woman. She has breast cancer and is finishing her last chemo treatment next week. Can someone give me some gift ideas?

A. My last chemo is on August 2. I would like some flowers waiting for me that day when I get home and three weeks later, when I would normally be getting chemo, I want to go out for Indian food for a celebration! My taste has been so severely altered during chemo that I can't wait to have such great food again!

Q. I adopted a family for Christmas that is currently living in a shelter. The younger girs are easy to buy for but I am looking for gift ideas $20-$30 for the 14 year old boy? Any ideas?

A. Clothes are best for him. These are latest discount offers to save money http://www.clickmycoupon.com/online-coupons.htm

What of toys do 14 year old boys want for Christmas?
Q. My husband and I just adopted a family of 4 kids for Christmas through the adopt a family program.
I have a 14 year old to buy for and have no idea what do 14 year olds want for Christmas?
I adopted this family though the Adopt a family program.
Here is what I got.
Gender-Male
age-14
Gifts- Age appropriate

I can't just ask him.
We will get more then more then one, more like 7 or 8 gifts per kid.

A. My daughter volunteers with the Adopt and Angel program in our town. Just remember when you are shopping that these are his christmas presents! My daughter says that some people come with one gift for a small child and it is really sad. I have a 15 year old daughter so I can tell you the non gender specific things she would like.....My ideas for a 14 year old boy would be
Hoodies - just get a large they like them big anyway
MP3 player (they are pretty cheap right now)
20Q - a hand held game where you think of something and the game tells you what it is by narrowing the field by asking questions.
Gloves, Hat, Scarf
Uno
The Game of Life - twists & turns
Monopoly Here and Now
Movie Gift Certificates
Resturaunt Gift Certificates (Ruby Tuesdays, McDonalds)
Cologne
TShirts - American Eagle, Yankees, College Logo - again, I would just get a large.
Any of the books from the "Twilight" Series, really hot right now!
Wrist Watch
Silver Chain
My daughter buys "filler gifts" for the Adopt an Angel program that they use to fill in gift bundles when donors only send one thing, and these are the things she asked me to buy because she wants things for kids her age.

How do I throw a 30th Birthday Party for my single friend?

Q. My single girlfriend is turn 30 this year. Does anyone have an clever ideas for decorations or a theme?

A. I'm single and also turning 30 this year. Hey, maybe you're my friend and this party is for me! ha! just kidding... ;)

If she's anything like me, and dreads turning 30, the last thing I want is to have people rubbing my new age-bracket in my face. Who wants to be reminded of how old they are getting when they're still single? So forego any "Over-the-Hill" type of decorations, or anything referring to "Old Maid" (I absolutely HATE that term!!!) Here are some parties that she may like:

-Honestly, I think a dinner party with her closest friends would be the best. Make reservations at her favorite restaurant and make a fun night of it. Take pictures!
-If she hates the thought of turning 30, do a "Happy 1st Anniversary of turning 29" party. Have 29 pink candles and 1 white candle decorating a white-frosted cake.
-Decorate the party like the 70's since that was the year she was born and have everyone wear 70's attire and play 70's music. Have 70's style posters decorating the room and maybe a history board of pictures of her growing through the years.
-Or if she's a fan of the 80's, throw an 80's style party, same idea as the 70's version...
-Or perhaps if she's a movie buff, have a party of "Big Movie Hits of the Last Three Decades". Have everyone dress up as their favorite movie character over the last 30 years.
-Maybe have people bring inexpensive gifts in thirty's. Thirty candy bars, thirty birthday cards about turning 30, a mixed CD with 30 songs on it, etc. Let your guests be the creative ones too.
-Murder mystery parties are awesome.
-Perhaps if you and her close friends can afford it, go on a road trip somewhere and celebrate. Vegas, Atlantic City, etc.

I don't suggest strippers or strip clubs. To me, that's fun in your early 20's. Turning 30 is a big step and the party shouldn't be reduced to something silly, unless she would like that...? *shrug*

***The most important part: Whatever you decide to do, invite men and women. If any of your guests have any potentional, great single men, bring them along! The more the single men, the merrier, right? ;)

Good luck! I'm sure she (and everyone else) will have a blast! And how thoughtful of you to do this for her! :)

What are some good gift ideas for a grandmother's birthday?
Q. My grandmother is in her 80's and recently went through some major surgery. She loves pictures but she has a ton of them along with random knickknacks. She lives in an apartment now so she has limited space. Any ideas for a birthday gift are appreciated.
My father actually got her a digital picture frame for Christmas... Thanks though! I think it might actually be one of her favorite gifts.

A. Make her a really nice photobook using Smile Books software. The software is free but you have to pay for the book.

What could be an unusual gift for my best friend?
Q. I have a very nice friend I want to gift her something that is unusual. I don't want to gift her the usual things that we give to our friends on their birthday or on different ocassions so please give some new idea.

A. Choosing a gift, remember - its not the object you choose that will make pleasure, but the way you present it to the recipient. Let it be a nail, but if you announce, that this will be the last nail in the coffin of your bitterest enemy, this gift will be welcome and remembered in years! What I want to say, presenting gifts takes 80% of creativity, 10% of understanding persons interests and only 10% of the staff youll choose to serve you for a present. Use any crazy idea, fill it with positive sense of turn it into a joke, perform the process of offering as a kind of ceremony, and you will be the King of Gifts!

You can invent it a legend to your ordinary gift and make it special. You just offer her a pebble of some unusual shape you picked up during your last vacation? Say, this pebble is so old, it has known dinosaurs and prehistoric men, and it will whisper Her its stories whenever she will have tedious time.

Any ideas for an 80th birthday party celebration?

Q. I need help on gift ideas, and unique decorating, etc. It's my mom's birthday and we have rented a room at a resturant. What do you thonk of pictures of my mom during different satges - little girl, teen, wedding, etc? Thanks for all answers.

A. a picture board is a great idea- I did one for my moms 60th party and she had a great time showing off her pics to everyone! Go get one of those tri-fold display boards and put tons of pics of her throughout the years on it- or you can make a slide show and play it on someones laptop computer- whichever works better for you. For decorating I just used my moms favorite colors- pink, purple, and silver accents- we had fake flower petals scattered down the center of the tables and a set of pretty candles next to a vase of lillies. I also found small travel candles for 50 cents and had one of those at each table setting as a party favor for the guests. We had balloon arrangements all over the room and hung streamers and some birthday banners too. I had also found on Ebay a book all about the year she was born and we had that on the picture table so people could look through that also and I found a Life magazine from th week she was born on there too (I gave that as a gift to her and she loved it).
so as far as decorations- go with something that you think she would like, maybe vases of her favorite flowers all over, or make it a theme relating to her favorite hobby and decorate along those lines (gardening, bingo, quilting- whatever!) This is a good time also to get some family pictures taken so make sure to gather up the whole group before people start to leave to get some good family shots.

Gift ideas for my Phi Alpha Delta Big Sister?
Q. I need gift ideas for my Phi Alpha Delta Big Sister. I was thinking of making custom tee shirts for the both of us, but it'd be about $60, I wanted to give her something really nice and special for the both of us, any ideas? I wanted for it to have PAD greek letters...

Thanks for the answers.

A. T-shirts - Buy basic tees from wal-Mart $4, then head to the craft dept. They have rhinestones, iron on, in neat patterns, and even letters. You can also buy them so that you make your own design. These are usually less than $5 a piece. Now, you can make two tees for less than $60. Do you sew? Cuz if you wanted to make her a basic letter shirt, do the same $4 tees, buy one yard of cute fabric from Wal-Mart $4.44, (you can prob find one of your symbols or mascots) and do an applique of the PAD letters. Again, really cheap.
I made my lil sis a pen "flower pot": bought a pack of 10 BIC pens, some floral tape and our flowers in our colors (silk), cut the flower off the bunch, then wrapped the tape around the pen, adhering the flower to the pen, so that her pens would stand out from everyone else's. You may have seen stores with pens like this. (This obviously is just a smallish gift, I was just trying to give you some extras)
If your lil lives in the dorms, make her a "bathroom basket" with her name, letters, symbols, fun stuff in paint pen, or if she has her own bathroom, a bucket with the letters, her name, etc. Have fun dolling it up. I also bought cork boards and decorated them accordingly. Add your own personalization to those things.
Hope that helps.

What are some gift ideas for a greek family i'm visiting?
Q. I've never met them before.. what gifts from the US should i buy them? there's a young boy (age 8?), middle aged mother, father, grandfather, grandmother, teenage sister (13), teenage brother (15), brother and sister in their 20s? what are some things greek people like from the US? I'm from los angeles CA. some gift ideas would be great!

A. Don't take individual presents - just the kids if you really MUST! When you arrive in Greece - get them flowers or plant and a gateaux from the local patisserie. You can always send the kids something from US at a later date when you know them better. Sometimes giving Greek families presents can be quite upsetting as many do not show the emotions that we foreigners are used to. Believe me ... best to stick with the normal gifts of plant / gateaux. Been there - done that!

Q. Okay so I have got an birthday gift idea for my best friend. I wanna make a box in which you will find '16 things someone loves about her'. and i wanna write on 16 little pieces of papers different reasons why i love her and why she is my bff. But, i don't wanna write quotes really. i wanna make something more special and more realistic. Do you guys have any ideas on what should i write? THANKS !

She will see the sentimental value, if it is personal and from yourself.

What are some good ideas for senior gift ideas for a girls highschool track & field team?
Q. We have 12 seniors and need some good ideas that are cheap!

A. what's your budget? I started the senior gift tradition when I was a freshman and we gave them a mini gift basket that year. We spent about $8 a senior. W put a photo frame from ikea that we painted (like 2 for $1) and put their picture in. and we included a nice note and a their picture. then we made rings from the brand creativity, which was like $5 for all 7 seniors. And we put a small Ty Beanie baby inside.

Sophomore year, we made fleece blankets. the ones where you buy fleece from Joanns or some other fabric store, and we cut the sides and tie two sheets together. those are, even today, my favorite ones. the blankets were our school colors and we gave it to my XC seniors at our state race (b/c it gets cold). that was like $3-4 with $5 embroidery of their name = $8-10 per senior

Junior year, we made puzzles with a special track/xc picture with them in it. that was about $14 a senior

this year, my senior year, the girls gave us a photo album with...notes all over it! about us individually and as a team. i'm assuming they spent about $20 a senior on that one. plus a small bouquet of roses at our banquet. it was really sweet

and then the boosters gave the seniors frames with X COUNTRY on it with our pictures in every single one. that was $25

our rival team gave their seniors necklaces with a ring on it. i think each ring as special and said something like "inspiration" or "teamwork". also, before my state race, our captain gave us bracelets from Nike that said "inspiration" or somethign different for each of the 7 girls. She then wrote a paragraph, had several pictures, and wrote an inspirational quote

What to get my "sister-in-law" for christmas?
Q. I say "sister in law" in quotes because I am not married into the family just yet. She is 22 years old, the same age as me, but we are not close. She is a country girl and the only thing I really know about her is she doesn't want anymore scarfs (something the girls get a lot every year). She has been in the family not yet a year. I don't want to spend more then $15 seeing as I have over 20 people to shop for. Have any cute gift ideas?

A. Bath stuff (Bath and Body Works has lots of small sizes, so you could get them on the cheap)
A gift certificate for a manicure or pedicure
A decent pair of gloves (TJ Maxx or Marshalls always has nice designer pairs for under $15)
A candle (Maybe vanilla? Everyone likes vanilla.)
A journal (I saw a cute one on Amazon, where you write on sentence a day)
Some stationary
A calendar (maybe with horses, since she's a country girl)
A coffee, tea of other kind of food gift basket (Target & Walmart has some cute ones for about $15)

What is a good one month anniversary gift for your boyfriend?
Q. Theres this guy I've been dating who im head over heels for and tomorrow is our one month anniversary. I want to do something special like give him a sweet gift. I know people dont usually do much this early in a relationship but I want to show him how much he means to me. I was thinking about making a CD for him with all of his favorite songs then drawing on it. Is this a good idea? Any more suggestions?

A. I think it is sweet that you would like to give your boyfriend a one month anniversary gift, but be careful what you decide. Keep it simple, not too sweet and something with a little humor. I would look though Pinterest and see if there are any crafty ideas. Also, check out ibetyoudonthavethis.com. They have tons of great gift ideas. Some things on that site are kinda crazy, but others are so practical and leave you thinking, why didn't I think of that. Either way, congrats on your anniversary! I wish you many more!

What kind of gift ideas would you recommend for an aspiring art college student?
Q. Trying to develop some Christmas gift ideas for an aspiring college art student of 19 years. He is going to college for Art & Design, he is heavily into art, film, some tech, gaming, coffee, and just a wide range of things. Need some simple decent priced gift ideas.

A. A Wacom Bamboo Tablet. My dad got me one for Christmas, and from an artist's point of view, I have to say it's the best and most useful thing he ever gave me. Photoshop or Sony Vegas would be really great programs to buy him too.

My friend has just found out she is having a baby girl! and its 5 months pregnant. Need gift ideas for a young?

Q. need gift ideas for a young mum to be! she is only 18 but i want to treat her to something nice!

A. Im a young mum and my baby girl is now 4 weeks and 1 day old. Ever body brought me newborn clothes for the baby and most of them she hasnt had chance to wear and now shes grown out of them. I wished everyone had brought her bigger sizes in clothes. If your looking for a gift for your friend and not the baby I would suggest getting her a foot rub or back rub because your feet and back start to hurt badly when getting bigger in pregnancy.

What can we wrap as a Christmas gift to announce pregnancy to parents?
Q. Our ultrasound the day after Christmas but we want them to open something as our way of telling them. Any ideas?

A. White baby booties or a silver rattle and soother. Or yes something that says proud grandma or grandpa...Like and engraved picture frame where they can put a picture in after baby is born.

What to include in a gift basket for a pregnant lady?
Q. My brother and sister-in-law are trying to get pregnant, and when the announcement comes I want to give my sister-in-law a goodie basket with stuff to use for her pregnancy - nothing for the baby yet but stuff just for her. I have some ideas such as stretch mark cocoa butter lotion, prenatal vitamins, gift cards to maternity stores...but I want it full and brimming and exciting! I've never been pregnant before so I need ideas of stuff she can use - anything at all! I'm so excited to get a nephew or a niece!

A. Your gift basket ideas seem great, and its very sweet of you : ) Hmmm perhaps some ginger tablets or anything with ginger root in it would be good to go in there, it really helps with nausea if she is unlucky enough to get it. Also the book ideas sound good : ) Or even some pregnancy magazines, the ones that have the real life birth stories in them, those are great. You could get preggy pops which are lolly pops to help pregnant women with nausea.

What to gift my country boy husband for 15th anniversary?
Q. HELP! It's my 15th wedding anniversary and I need gift ideas. My husband is a country boy that doesn't dress up, wear cologne or watches. Any of the typical gift stuff doesn't apply to him. He is a simple, loving man. I really need some creative ideas. He has all the fishing and hunting gear one man can own.

A. How about a gift card or certificate to go on a fishing weekend with a buddy or you if you like fishing? Like go ahead and call the hotel, set up reservations, and all that so all he has to do is GO! Maybe even get a few gift cards for dinner, look up restaraunts in that area and hook him up!

What to get mother and mother-in-law for rehearsal dinner gifts?
Q. I am trying to find gifts to give to my mother and future mother in law at my rehearsal dinner, but every "typical gift" idea (i.e. handkerchiefs, silver heart shaped lockets, framed poetry, etc.) I'm finding on the net just seems to cheap and lame. What is something classy I can give them that they will actually like? My budget is about 60-75 dollars per gift.

Also, is it okay to give them both the exact samet thing?

A. it depends what they like, but i think every woman loves jewelry , try something classic like pearls, they are not so expensive, and you could get them the same gift, maybe in different shades white or black whats really hot now are chocolate pearls

What is a perfect gift for a mother-in-law who is truly and dearly loved?
Q. My mother-in-law and I get along like peas and carrots. She is absolutely amazing and goes out of her way to help her son and me out. I'd like to buy her a gift to show her my appreciation, but I'm at a loss for ideas! Help!

What is a good christmas gift to give my mother-in-law, who also happens to be my pastor's wife?
Q. every year i find it difficult to find the right gift for her. i don't want something too christian like a bible, a cross to hang on the wall etc you know. but instead i want something unique and special that shows my appreciation both as my mother in law and pastor's wife. any ideas?

A. Maybe you should go visit your local Christian bookstore and see what they have that catches your eye. Does she like to read? Maybe you could get her a book - one that's on the best seller list right now. Does she drink coffee? Maybe a nice coffee mug - you could fill it full of little things or make her a gift basket with a mug and a book and some pens, bookmarkers, etc. (with a little candy - maybe some chocolate!) You could add some hand lotion and just some little inexpensive nick-nacks to fill the basket up.
