I understand how you feel. I have been married for 19 years. My husband sometimes, quite often, forgets to do the same thing. I have told him how I feel and he says he forgot, was working too much, or we had no money at the time. This year I told him I knew I wasn't getting anything but that I wanted something, any stupid little thing for Valentines day. When I woke up I found a paper taped to the mirror saying "This is your official 2011 Valentines Day Card...I Love You!!!" This little jester meant more than a dozen roses. I have told him just pick me a flower on the side of the road and I'd be the happiest woman in the world. So I know how you feel. I wouldn't leave him because of this. Maybe explain it again and tell him how hurt you are. We woman like to be reminded that we are loved and are needed. Good Luck!

I've been through so much in my life to be so young. Im a 23 year old woman and i just celebrated my two year anniversary of being a cancer survivor. I had Leukemia and one of the chemotherapy's i received was possibly able to make me infertile. I finished chemo June of 2010' Everything was fine. i began to move on with my life I met an amazing guy who knows my story and loves me through my flaws my life was coming back to normal again slowly but surely and I was still continuing to have my regular periods until one year later June 2011' they suddenly stop. I thought i was in the "safe zone", because the doctor said the younger you are the better chance you have at over coming the infertility issues of the chemo. At first i thought I pregnant but nope. I was just missing periods for months at a time. Me and my amazing husband got married and we both just thought it would come back because i've been off chemo for over a year. So we waited, and waited, and waited and it never returned. I was emotionally devastated i couldn't give my husband his first child can you imagine? i already had a daughter from a previous relationship (being hot at a young age paid off lol jk) I seen how everything happens for a reason God gave me a child earlier because little did I would soon be facing fertility issues. Although my husband was very supportive I know deep down he waited to have his own child. So christmas passed, we had a party drinks, friends, laughing gift giving, ahh just what I needed. I didn't know that i would be recieveing my my gift early the next moring. I went to the bathroom and I HAD MY PERIOD AGAIN!! after 6 long dredful months! i never thought i would see the day i was happy about blood down there lol. soo It's been over a week non stop bleeding... i think im about over the excitment now, as much as i prayed for this i got it i think im able to conceive... i think.. but my menstrual is going and going and going im a bloody mess literally. what to do? from the 26 til today help! lol im thankful and all but damn! Im ready for sex and horney as ever but my blood won't leave lol help me and give opinions please! The one gift that everyone wants and no one has enough of is time. Give your husband time. Time with you, with the guys, with the kids, with the dog, whatever. Make plans for a weekend away just the two of you and concentrate on spoiling him all weekend. Book a room somewhere, locate a nice restaurant, plan the entire weekend and then give him a card with a date and time. Sometimes the best gifts are experiences. Give him a fishing expedition for two and send him off with his best friend for a weekend. Purchase a skydiving trip. Wrap up the brochure, or a card with an explanation, he will love that you took the time to think about what means the most to him. Sometimes to have something for a person to unwrap I give them a small representation of the experience. For example, if I was sending somone on a hunting trip I would wrap up a camo hat, or a fishing game for a fishing trip. Perhaps a sanddollar for a weekend at the coast, or a monky for a trip to the rainforest, an airplane for skydiving, there are a multitude of ideas. Concert tickets, theater tickets, membership to beer a month club, etc.

My daughter is in the Peace Corps in Peru. I gave her a Swiss Army knife - the one they call "Camper". It doesn't have all the blades known to man, but each one is useful. I think it is the best compromise between size and utility they make.

Once your friend gets there she will find things she wishes she had; small things, like paperback books. Ask her to ask you for stuff every once in a while. Keep it small and inexpensive. You don't want her to be the material queen of Kenya.

When I was a PCV, many years ago, my grandmother wrote short, cheerful letters every week, and enclosed a week's worth of "Peanuts", my favorite comic strip. It was the nicest thing anyone did for me in the 27 months I was gone.

If your doing this as a Giving Tree, first make sure that the kid you select is actually the kid your giving to. An Ipod does not seem like a gift that should be given to someone on a giving tree. Most giving trees are for needy kids, so clothes would be first on the list. Maybe a few stuffed animals would also make her day. There are a ton of hand-held games

I had to do this when I first started grad school. I administered a lengthy cognitive test to a 9 year old and had to write a report. Before the test, I did a quick interview and discovered that the little girl really liked art, so I got her a little art case with crayons, pencils, paints, and pastels. So, maybe you can ask the boy and girl what they like and what their hobbies are. It will help you build rapport and you'll get some gift ideas too.

I went to Party City to get supplies to make gifts for a baby shower and I was amazed at all the things they had for retirement parties.

Hats, t-shirts, bottle bottom glasses, dinnerware (plates, napkins, cups, etc.), balloons,

Also you can buy plastic dentures, those denture cleaning tablets, key chains, wall plaques, t-shirts, balloons, balloon holders, plastic visors, readers (glasses) and embossing pens at a dollar store.

If you find something cool use the gold or silver pens to write some "insulting" phrase on it. You can also emboss glitter onto any object that can withstand the heat gun (or your blowdryer). If you buy t-shirts from the dollar store or at Michael's, AC Moore etc, you can get t-shirt printer paper for about ten bucks and write up something specific to the individual(s), print it on a regular printer and iron it on. You get 8-10 sheets and if you only use half you will have 16-20 iron on sheets. They have iron on patches with expressions on them too. (old fart, he's my old fart, old farting together, lol).

The flip flops are great as are big hawaiian shirts, big baggy boxers or baggy pants with an elastic waste (long or short).

Also check out oriental trading. They are an inexpensive place to get different party theme items from.

I certainly hope that I don't sound like an annoyingly angsty teen, because while I am a teen, I don't consider myself anguished in any way. On to the point. Well, my mum needs to straighten up. I absolutely understand that many parents have economic problems over them every day and perhaps kids (I have two brothers), but I feel that it shouldn't deter someone from being correct towards someone.
Now, there's a huge difference between my brothers and I. My older brother and I are well-educated and we know how to respect. My younger brother (He's 12, mind you. However, this isn't the reason for what I'm about to say) is horrible in school. He gets into trouble every day and is awfully disrespectful towards us. In fact, the little bugger got detention a few weeks ago for disrespecting a teacher.
At this point, I hope, any mother would have punished their child if they did something like that. Perhaps grounding them without television, or putting them to study for a long time? At least a serious talk? Well, not with my mum. Technically she did "punish" him by telling him that he couldn't watch television and that he had to complete all of his homework (which he should have been doing in the first place), but mum never enforces these rules. She's like a lawman who sets down the law without actually enforcing it.
The kid's not getting disciplined! The very next weekend, when he asks mum if he could go skating with his friends, she lets him go! Every. Bloody. Time. In fact, I tried confronting her about her lack of discipline, because he was turning into a freaking delinquent! Mum just avoids the question or makes an excuse like: "It was special. His friend was moving out tomorrow."

Now, here is where I might sound a bit bratty, but I've had enough. As said earlier, my younger brother has no respect for anything, humans animals and things alike. A few months ago, my mum comes up to me and asks me to let him use my PS3...Excuse me? You want me to let that disrespecting, arrogant, break-everything kid use a PS3 and the games that I bought with my own money? I told her, strictly, no. Mum lost it. I understand the rant she gave me about being unfair and how I should share, but I believe I had a perfectly good reason. A few weeks earlier, he busted my Gamecube and a few games that now-a-days, you have to pay up to $70.00 to find again because they are no longer sold in Gamestop.
Anyways, after a long argument with mum, I had to surrender my PS3 and the games. I was infuriated, especially because I had gotten that system as a gift for Christmas years earlier. And that mum OFFICIALLY GAVE MY BLOODY CHRISTMAS PRESENT AND ALL MY GAMES TO HIM.

So, my younger brother disrespects a teacher and gets no punishment. However, I clearly answer her question of "May Alex use the PS3?" with a well-backed up no, and my entire system gets robbed from me. I mean...if you were going to force me to let him use it, why bloody ask me in the first place?

An Appropriate Wedding Gift from an American visiting the Irish Couple?

Q. I am friends with both the bride and groom (closer to the bride). He's actually from India and she's from Ireland & the wedding will be a "traditional" Irish Catholic wedding.

They've both lived in the US for the past 10 years, so it wouldn't be overly special if I brought something specifically "american" over to Ireland for them. So I was thinking of going the other route, to go with their theme of a traditional Irish Catholic wedding.

But as I am not an Irish national, nor am I catholic, what would be a good gift? Any ideas?

I agree with the two people up there. Give them something that is useful. Most Irish/Catholic stores have great gift ideas! A horseshoe with an enscription on it would be kind of neat; or anything basically that the bride and groom could have to remember their wedding day. Practical is nice (anyone can buy a blender); but sentimental is better! But before you go to all the trouble to find a Irish/Catholic store, give yourself a bit of a break! I'm sure something that MEANS something and is from the heart, would be just as good! Goodluck! <3

Humm.. that sounds tuff. Maybe you could try:

Step 1: Go to Elfyourself.com
Step 2: find a photo of you dad
Step 3: make an "Elf" of your father,
Step 4: at the bottom, it says you can buy your own mug, computer mouse pad, etc. With his face on it!
That doesn't cost too too much if you had a little money.

Another idea is just take an old mug, cup etc. and...
Step 1: Get sharpened pencils, pens, scissors, markers anything else office like
Step 2: in bold marker, write "DAD'S NUTS AND BOLTS" and draw things your dad likes on it!

I wanted to give money, but as I'll probably only be able to give $20 each, I feel that amount looks cheaper than a cheap gift.....

give them something memorable, something that can be useful... or you could always put together a cheap basket (a whole lot of cheap things that would make it seem like you spend a lot of money but not to cheat that it noticeable that it cheap. you want to get things that look expensive but isn't)

u can buy a card, t-shirt, a bag of there favorite candy,throw in a picture fame in a really cute laundry basket and call it a day

or

u can take it back to 5th grade and buy little things that stand for something like your friendship, memories etc... and put a note or card in it explain what each thing stood for in y'all relationship as friends...
