My son was invited to a birthday party for a 3 year old boy. I guess they would be cousins. Anyway, he is autistic and has a mom that is very into his therapy etc... I am looking for gift ideas with links maybe? I would like to find something that will make her go wow, he could really use this. I am not really looking for toys like trucks etc... I am looking for toys that are learning toys.

Honestly I would ask the mother, its better to find out what type of gifts she would like for her son, especially she is very proactive in her son's therapy.

Saying that, you could look as sensory toys, educational toys, musical toys/instruments, communication games, hand puppets, wooden puzzles etc.

The toys need to be sturdy to take bit of rough handling, be colourful and stimulating enough for them be interested in playing with the toy, also make sure there are not to many parts to cause frustration, and certainly no small pieces (choking). Be careful with books unless they are thick chunk cardboard or fabric type as they wont tear/rip.

Or you could give a gift voucher to Toy-R -Us, Target etc, which means the mother can purchase something to her liking for her sons needs.

I'm Christmas shopping online, and all that I have left are a 4 year old boy and a 6 year old boy. They both love spiderman and all of the characters associated with him. I want some good gift ideas that would make their Christmas special. They already have the costumes, and I would like to stay away from the "toy" thing (they have plenty of spiderman toys). You could also get them like, maybe some roller skates or roller blades; get them into doing father son stuff.

Or some Swiss army knives! Any guy would like one of those!

Why not do a cousins' dessert pot luck? Each of you can make and bring your favorite dessert to the gathering and share what everyone brought. To make it more fun, you could have everyone give a little speech about what they made and why. You could also go with a theme and say that everyone has to use at least 3 ingredients of one color, or that everything has to be something you can eat with your fingers.
Get creative and have some fun. Who cares if it'll make everyone fell silly? You're among family.

If your doing this as a Giving Tree, first make sure that the kid you select is actually the kid your giving to. An Ipod does not seem like a gift that should be given to someone on a giving tree. Most giving trees are for needy kids, so clothes would be first on the list. Maybe a few stuffed animals would also make her day. There are a ton of hand-held games

you could look on the Navy NEX site as they have a vast array of some neat stuff aimed at both active and retiring men and women from all branches.

When my husband retired he was never a big one for having a me me wall, so anything anyone got him was aimed at his hobbies and likes..you know this part of him best............maybe a decent bottle of scotch, a few fine cigars that sort of thing............

Again at the exchange see if they have a retired USMC t,shirt...........

He will more than likely be given a flag at the end of his retirement ceremony, maybe a really nice case for it, do NOT buy this at the exchange as they cost enough to feed a small army for a week, look at your local hobby shops and wait for a good coupon to come out.........

Relax as him getting a gift from you is the last thing on his mind.

I am planning a Holiday party for about 20-30 people, the ages are diverse, mostly adults that are 40 years and older, but some kids under 10 and a few teenagers. I need some good ideas that wont break the bank.

Each year, we have an "elephant" party. Everyone brings 1-2 inexpensive gifts-either serious or gag. We roll dice, and if you get a double, you choose. You can either choose from the pile, or steal from someone. The key is NOT to open the gifts until the game is over. At the end, when all of the gifts are gone, we have a 2 min. speed round--throw the dice, doubles, you steal...or pass if you don't get doubles. At the end, you open your gifts.

Truly hilarious, because people start stealing gifts and decide what they think they are....and of course, never are! We hit the dollar store, and the clearance bins. We've gotten great picture frames, boxes of candy, dominoes, umbrellas, calendars...but the best fun of all is just playing the game!

what cute fun gift could i give a person in my flute section?

i'm in marching band and every year we do a secret santa drawing for christmas. What could i give my person? she plays flute and loves music. i need a gift that is under $10 but fun. i don't want to get her something useful for a flute, more like accesories pertaining to music like slippers or socks, or please comment some places/items for ideas! thanks!

Basically my little brother's 9th birthday was today (I'm 13)

He had this awsome party that we planned LAST NIGHT because he suddenlt decided he wants a party. He took NO part of the planning, he didn't help AT ALL!

Anyway, I had to watch some stupid movie with him and 6 other 9 year old boys. IT WAS HORIBLE! We almost got kicked out of the theater for bad bahavior.

Anyway... he gets a gift from everybody, and my dad gave him $200!

The big deal about that is, my dad never gives anybody gifts, doesn't really care about birthdays. When its MY birthday my day starts with a list of chores to do... and then my dad remembers that its my birthday like a few hours later.

Anyway, long story short, my brother gets this GREAT party, bunch of presents and $200 from my dad.

On my birthday, nobody really remebers about it until I bring it up myself... and I've never had a party...EVER!

Am I right to be mad...?!?!?

Someone here needs to get a life. Get your own answer and stop copying and pasting my ideas and answers. If you are at least going to "steal" it, change the words around. This is not directed toward the person asking the question but someone who answered the question.

Anyways, have you tried certain sites to let other people adopt him. Trust me some people will send some werid and/or funny stuff. I have a few older ladies that have adopted my husband who is deployed and he laughs sometimes at what they send.

Someone seemed to put the websites that I put down for care packages. Those sites have some neat ideas about carepackages and what to include in them.

Does your husband like Cakes and cookies and brownies. How about sending him Cake in a Jar (with the holidays coming up this would be perfect.) After the jars have cooled, you can then decorate them with stickers or markers (permenant) and attach a cute card to the top. This is something my kids love to do. Also what about putting together a photo album for him. Take lots of pictures of everyone and anything that he likes. Even include his "toys" like cars, video games, etc.,. Get old pictures of him as a boy and of his family and include them in there. Put them all together (you can write words with almost every picture). You can have family members and friends even write a little something in there for him and then send it to him.

Also what about taking some of those really important pictures and putting them to music. Songs that mean something to the both of you or to him. You can do a wedding one (over the years), do one of just him, do one of just you, do one of just his other family members, do one of just the kids, etc., This is a good website to use:

Have his hometown schools that he went to or where he lived, adopt him. School Kids love to write to soldiers deployed. I have gotten both the elementary and high school that my husband went to, write to him. On one trip back home, my husband went to the elementary class room and visited them and they thought that was the best thing ever.

Fudge

2 Cups Sugar
2 1/2 Tablespoons dry Hershey's Cocoa
2 Tablespoons of butter or margarine
1/3 coup white Karo Syrup (corn syrup)
1/2 cup condensed milk
1 cup walnuts (shelled and chopped)
1 teaspoon Vanilla

Combine all ingredients except nuts and vanilla. Stir together well. Bring to a vigorous boil and boil for 5 minutes.

Remove from flame. Allow to cool for 10 minutes. Beat vigorously to make it creamy. Add walnuts and vanilla. Stir and pout out onto waxed paper lined square pan.

NOTE: Do not attempt to make cooked candies (this fudge recipe) when the weather is rainy, very cloudy or wet fog.

Quick Banana Chocolate Chip Bars

1 Medium Ripe Banana, peeled
1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
¾ Cup Brown Sugar, packed
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
½ Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
¼ Teaspoon Salt
1/3 Cup Olive or Vegetable Oil
2 Tablespoons Milk
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 Egg
¼ Cup Chopped Nuts
½ Cup Chocolate Chips (or what feels good)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray small rectangular or 9x9 square baking pan with non-stick spray.

Chop or mash banana. Combine with flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, oil, milk, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips to this mixture OR save them to add as topping, sprinkling on top of mixture after poured into the pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes.

Isabellas (Oatmeal Cookies)

1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 cups flour
1 1/2 cups oats
Dash salt, optional
Powdered Sugar

Cream butter and sugar until light. Mix in vanilla, then flour, oats and salt. Chill thoroughly, about ½ hour in the refrigerator. Shape into small balls and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Flatten with a fork, crisscrossing. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-18 minutes (depending on your oven). Sprinkle with Powdered Sugar


Jumbles

3 large bananas, mashed
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup chopped dates
1/3 cup oil
Dash of salt
1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients, let set 15 minutes. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Spicy Oatmeal Crisps
Pepper may sound like an odd ingredient for a cookie, but it complements the other spices well (although you can omit it if you prefer).
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon ground allspice
½ teaspoon grated whole nutmeg
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (optional)
1 cup packed brown sugar
5 tablespoons butter or stick margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
½ cup regular oats
Cooking spray

Preheat oven to 350°. Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour and next 7 ingredients (flour through pepper) in a medium bowl. Beat sugar, butter, and vanilla in a large bowl with a mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add egg; beat well. Stir in flour mixture and oats.

Drop by level tablespoons 2 inches apart onto baking sheets coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes or until crisp. Cool on pan 2 to 3 minutes or until firm. Remove cookies from pan; cool on wire racks.
