What would be an appropriate gift for a Indian wedding?
Q. I'm going to attend a wedding in India, Chennai to be precisely, in February, however, I have no clue what is custom to give in as a present in India. They haven't registered anywhere? Can someone tell me a good gift idea, or steer me in the right direction? I was thinking something typical from Austria, since the bride worked for our company for 2 months as an intern!? Any help would be great!

A. well, any gift of good quality would be appreciated in any culture when the wedding party is aware that there will be guests of different cultures attending

a gift from Austria would be quite cool (in my opinion) as I'm sure a bride of an Indian wedding will have plenty of indian friends + family to supply gifts of that culture.
for any wedding in general, dinnerware items (perhaps in designs common in Austria), quality home design items (austrian vase), and of course a generous amount in money is usually well-recieved (esp. since these things can be re-gifted when the couple visits other families and such)
in Indian culture...you might interested to know that common gift items include golden jewelery sets and high-quality + brightly colored cloth material for "sarees" and custom tailored clothing of that sort (check out below) that have lots of embroidery + work on them
just make sure it's good quality and potentially re-giftable...a good rule of thumb for any party

Availability of testing strips in India for US Blood Glucose system?
Q. Planning to buy a blood glucose tester as a gift for my Dad from US. Are the testing strips available in India to buy in future. Also, pls suggest which brand to buy and other gift ideas as well (for my dad).
A. Yes. Many chemists either have them or can get them. They may not have the same kind as for the tester you get your father -- that might be a problem. You might want to let him get one in India to be sure the test strips are available.
Gift ideas for writer and yoga teacher with broken arm?
Q. My mom is a very active writer and yoga teacher and she just broke her writing arm. Bummer. I want to give her something for Christmas that would be fun and would still be doable given that she can't use her dominant arm. Any ideas?
