I need a great idea for a 50th birthday present for my mom.

christianw

I wanted to order a mothers ring, but her bday is like 12 days away, and they take longer than that to order. My mom is hard to shop for, and I want to do something special. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
I am 52 years old and the greatest gifts that my children has given me, is the gifts that showed me that they have taken time to know me for who I am, and not what I do (mother).

Do not get me wrong, I love being their mother, but I also love them knowing ME.

If your mom is, A person who have needs, but often neglect them, find out something that she needs...

If your mom is, A person who, worries or is stressed, A 1 day spa treatment, works wonders. (I loved that one and still talk about it)

When gifts were bought for me, by people, the ones that I cherished the most was the ones that showed, that the person who gave the gift took time to know ME.

My worst gifts were, the ones that I got, and I knew the gifts were not about me, but they were about the style and the likes of the person giving the gift... I often had no use for these gifts...

Last hint : NEVER GIVE MOM A GIFT THAT WILL MAKE HER WORRY ABOUT YOUR FINANCES.

She will appreciated the gift, but later she will worry...

(Never be too cheap either !!!!)

I wish you all the best, happy hunting !!!

50th birthday idea??

Jane T

My mom is turning 50 in about a month and a half and my sister and I wanted to throw her a party (preferably one she doesn't know about). Most of our "birthday parties" end up all being the same- invite people over, talk, and eat. Since her 40th birthday was "Over the Hill" themed (and we're asking for no gifts), I was thinking it would be fun to have a game show theme. Has anyone seen the show "Amnesia" on NBC? I was thinking of doing that and having her answer questions about her life since people tend to relate getting older with losing memory... But the problem is that I don't really know how to go about doing it. I don't know what sort of questions to ask and how to make it last about a half hour to 45 minutes.
Does anyone have any ideas about how I could set up this game show idea and what sort of questions would be fun to ask? I want it to encompass her whole life history, but am having trouble figuring out exactly what to ask...
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!!

Answer
How about doing it with objects? Like ask relatives for help and take out certain jewelry and clothing and things and ask her when she work them, what occasion, why it meant something to her etc.

You can also do it with the pictures like the other poster mentioned, where it was taken, who is in it, where they are, what they are doing there etc.

Ask your dad and other relatives for answers to the questions so you have them before you ask her. Just make sure to ask a few members of your family the same question so you know you have the right answers, you may get more than one answer to a question, those are the ones you're better off skipping. Go with the ones you get definite answers on.

Talk to family members and friends of your parents and see what they tell you, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help you and reminince about old times!

You can ask questions like:
How did your dad propose? What was she wearing, what was he wearing? What music if any was playing in the background? What food did they order?

The day she went into labor, where was she? What was she doing? What was the doctor's name that delivered you? What is the hospital's name she gave birth in?

What was her high school football team's name?

What was the name of her first pet?
What was her first car? What color was it?
What was the name of the road she lived on as a child?
What color was her childhood house?
What is the birth sign and birthstones of her husband and children?
What was her freshman English teacher's name?
What color dress did she wear to her senior prom?
When she was little, what was her favorite thing to carry around?
Did she have an imaginary friend, if so, what was his/her name?
What was her best friend's name as a child?
Did she belong on any team sports growing up? What were their names and colors?
What kind of car did her first boyfriend drive and what color was it?
Where was her first sleepover?
Where was her first class trip to?
Where was her first family vacation to?
How many pets has she had over her lifetime?
What was her first job?
What was she doing when she met your dad?
How did she meet your dad?
What was the first meal she cooked your dad?
What was the first meal she ever cooked?

Being it's her 50th Birthday, do 50 Questions with Mom! And then have her start answering them.

I hope these questions help, your theme sounds awesome and it's going to be so much fun to learn all these things about your mom! I hope you have a great party!

I need some ideas for a gag joke gift for a 60 year old man on his b-day!?

n8guy

I'd like something inexpensive, but nothing that references sexual dysfunction (impotence) because I heard that he may actually suffer from that. I'm getting him a card already but one little other small gift would be great!

Answer
Hehehehe introduce him to a fake illegitimate child..Lol that would be a hoot...

What would be a sensible present to by a 60 year-old-man?

Q. So, at school we have a great English teacher. He's one of the nicest men I know and most likely the best teacher I've had.

Collectively my English class would like to buy him a gift out of appreciation. He's around 60 btw...

Any ideas?

Answer
He probably has everything he wants at that age so i think a book token, would be appreciated, by an English teacher, dont you?

$10 or less Gift Ideas for 14 year old Boys?

Sweet Box

My daughter drew a 14 year old boy's name out of the secret Santa hat at her Kung Fu class, and I have until next Sunday to buy him something under $10. My daughter is only 7 so she doesn't know anything about him.

Open to any ideas. Whoever's idea I go with will be best answer. :D

Answer
Well, he's 14 so, i wouldn't go with a toy, because he's probably to old for that.(I'm a 14 year old girl). You could get him a tee shirt, or maybe a soccer ball? You could get him a box of chocolates? When I done secret Santa I got a guy and our limit was 15$. So, I got him a gift card for McDonald's and a chocolate orange, or you could a 10$ one, from like Tim Horton's or another cafe? Another option could be an itunes card, if he has an ipod or iphone. Hope I helped, Merry Christmas :)

Birthday gift for a 5 year old boy?

Kris H

I am going to a double birthday party this weekend for the 2 year old girl I babysit and her 5 year old brother. I already have the 2 year old's present picked out, but I have no clue what to get the 5 year old. He loves video games, but his mom has been trying to get him to play outside more so something for outdoor play would be nice. Does anyone have any ideas on what a 5 year old boy would like to play with?

Answer
Five year old boys are very into super heros. Anything Spiderman, Batman, even Star Wars related is typically a hit. Transformers and action figures are good, too. Board games are good for rainy days and family game nights. The 5 yr. old I nanny for is obsessed with the games Sorry!, Trouble, and Sequence for Kids.

As far as outside stuff, you could do beach themed items, sand building items, sidewalk chalk, scooter, tennis racket and ball, basketball, soccer ball....Target has a couple of great "outdoor geared" aisles in the toy section. Check there for some more ideas.

Help, I need a last minute gift idea for a 5 year old boy.?

resq-girl

I don't want to spend more than $25 and am not really sure what he likes as far as characters, etc.

Answer
If it's really last second then I would recommend you to give his parents money or a gift card for that amount so they know what he likes and they'll take him to his favorite shop.

However here are some alternatives
1) An action-man figure
2) A teddy bear
3) All boys love cars :)
4) A police car or fire engine to play with

That's about as much things I can think of :)

Take Care and hopefully you pick a great gift that he'd enjoy!

Tight budget for Christmas! Any ideas on a cheap but great gift?

Daryn H

Hi guys, this Christmas I'm on a tight budget. I'm wondering if you have any ideas of a cheap but great gift? I don't know if this will help but I am teen so the gift doesn't have to be o so out there!!! I have to shop for 2 little girls, and 18 yr. old brother, and 3 adults aged from 30-45.

Thanx!

Answer
FOR THE 3 ADULTS, SOME IDEAS WOULD BE:

1. Scented candles (you can get 3 different scented candles and put them in a nice gift bag) go to the dollar store and this gift can be under $7
2. If any of the adults are males who fish, you can get a tackle box and put some lures and hooks in there (total=$20-$30)
3. Seasonal Fruits - Go to your local market and buy some nice fruits that are in season and then go to the dollar store and get a nice basket or a Christmas Tin and nicely arrange the fruit -- Great gift for under $10
4. Christmas Dishes -- You can get a set of nice Christmas dishes at Target or Wal Mart for under $35

GIFT IDEAS FOT YOUR 18 YR OLD BROTHER
1. A Frame - Get a frame at any retailer -- you can find a nice one for under $10 and then put a picture of you and your brother together when you were young in the frame
2. 18 year olds love to watch movies and video games -- check out a gift card from Blockbuster
3. If he is 18 and in college in a dorm or out in his own part, try making him a bachelor kit -- we did this for a friend of mine when he moved out and it went over well......get a large basket and fill it with all of the stuff he is going to use when he is on his own without his mom to take care of him -- paper plates, paper towels, cleaners, a few cans of sodas, a few cans of chef boyrdee ravioli ---this is very cheap to do and it is a funny gift that usually causes some great laughter between the two fo you and it will all be stuff he needs and will use

GIFT IDEAS FOR THE LITTLE GIRLS
1. Why don't you go to a retailer or dollar store and buy them a stocking and then stuff it with a chirstmas ornament and a bby doll (you can get both items at a dollar store for $3-$5)
2. Little girls love to dress up usually -- go to the hairbow aisle of any retailer and buy them each 3 or 4 cute little hairbows and barettes -- this won't cost you more than $10

I've been going out with this guy for a few weeks now and his birthday is coming up.
Art is sort of my 'thing' and I told him that I wanted to make him something. I was thinking of making him a painting, though I am not sure of what I would paint. Though he plays guitar and I was thinking of maybe finding a cheap acoustic and painting that for him. Any other ideas or suggestions?
so what I've heard so far is that people think that the guitar idea is good. But would it be too much?
How about a small landscape painting (possibly around 5'' x 7'')?
A while ago (before we were dating) I drew him a portrait which he really liked. What if I took that drawing I made and painted it? Would that be thoughtful or just creepy?

Answer
Depending on the kind of paintings that you do, you could also be creative and just paint a canvas with acrylics using images of guitars, strings, notes, music, etc. Since you've only gone out for a couple of weeks, the idea is great but your time and thoughts are also of great value. I have a very successful artist friend that goes to Goodwill and buys those pictures on canvas and just paints over them. It's a cheap way to get materials. Her smallest paintings are 3' X3.' She sells them for $$$$. I'd save the best of what you can do for on down the road as the relationship develops. I use to do art for people and felt kind of hurt when they threw it out after we stopped dating or being friends.

for my mom she like suns and moons and decorations like angels. (under $40)

Answer
For mom's gift, have a look at a personalized Photo Collage Jigsaw Puzzle from jigsaw2order.com. Just send a selection of photos and specify any other hobbies or favorites she may have. 15-25 photos usually works best. You can also specify any words that you want - a message of favorite poem. Based on your photos and input, the professional designers at jigsaw2order.com will create a unique photo collage layout for your approval before making it into a puzzle. Don't worry, you get a chance to review and approve the photo collage design before they make a puzzle. Once completed, it can be framed and put on the wall.

Answer
Found this, Should be helpful:

Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Active Aries is always looking for ways to stay in shape, particularly during the holiday season... so athletic equipment is usually a good choice. People born under this sign are also fond of the color red, so a cranberry scarf or a scarlet hat could win their favor. If romance is in the air, let Aries know that you put his or her needs first. Buy tickets for two to a sporting event you loathe... or a CD by an artist you can't stand... to win big points with your favorite Ram.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus appreciates any gift that appeals to his or her sensual side. A box of gourmet chocolates, a richly colored tapestry or a soft cashmere blanket are all great options for Bulls. This sign also enjoys having money to play with, so a gift certificate to their favorite store is a welcome option. Always remember that quality is more important than quantity â Taurus would rather have a small bottle of expensive cologne than a carafe of the cheap stuff.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Quick-witted Geminis enjoys gifts that appeal to their sizable intellects. A challenging book is always welcome, as is a magazine subscription. This sign rules the hands, so some scented hand lotion or a sparkling ring might delight. Geminis also love to entertain, so a set of glassware might fit the bill. If you want to splurge on a special Twin, give them the latest cell phone or PDA, so they can keep in touch with their gazillion friends.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Sentimental Cancer loves gifts that have personal meaning. Handmade items always delight, whether it's a finger painting, angora sweater or mincemeat pie. This sign also has a special affinity for silver â a monogrammed hand mirror or picture frame would be very well received. Since Crabs have an affinity for liquids of all kinds, a special bottle of wine, a fancy cappuccino maker or a shiny tea kettle are also good possibilities. And don't forget that these Moon children love the domestic arts â a cookbook specializing in comfort food is another sure winner.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Lions love gifts that make them look and feel terrific. Hair accessories, cosmetics and grooming items are all good choices for this image-conscious sign. Leos love drama, and enjoy presents that involve a bit of flair. Opera tickets, gold jewelry or animal print lingerie are right up this cat's alley. Leos also love to gamble, so a sheaf of lottery tickets or a weekend getaway to the casino could make them purr with delight. When shopping for clothing, remember that Lions have a special affinity for red, gold and purple.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgins love practical gifts...so avoid dust-catching baubles. A bread-making machine or a power drill would be equally welcome. These folks are also known to pride themselves on their impeccable appearance. Scented soaps, lotions and shampoos made by an earth-friendly company might be just the ticket. Virgos are also incredibly organized and might appreciate a good watch or a leather-bound date book. Or try a health-conscious basket of organic foodstuffs.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Librans have a special affinity for music, and always appreciate a good CD to add to their voluminous collection. If you want to do something really special for a Libran friend, splurge on a two concert tickets â this sign hates to do anything alone. Born beneath the sign of the scales, they also need plenty of balance in their lives, so a pair of candlesticks or bookends might appeal. If you're still stumped for ideas, have a lavish bouquet of red roses delivered accompanied by a loving handwritten note.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpions are secretive by nature and enjoy gifts that obscure their appearance in some way. A pair of designer sunglasses, a filmy scarf or a slouchy hat are all great choices for this sign. These mystery-lovers also enjoy moody, atmospheric stories. A collection of film noirs on DVD are sure to go over well with your favorite Scorpion. The rumors concerning this sign's sexual appetite are happily true, so seductive lingerie would get plenty of use. Since Scorpions also like to get beneath the surface; a gift certificate for a deep-cleansing facial will be appreciated.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
As far as Archers are concerned, half the fun of getting gifts is ripping them open! If Sag doesn't like a present, though, he or she will tell you outright. Avoid awkward scenes this holiday season by giving this outdoor enthusiast some camping equipment. Hiking boots or a water-proof parka would also be appropriate. These animal lovers adore any gift associated with their pets. A calendar filled with pictures of dogs or horses is sure to elicit a big smile. Finally, you can always feed this sign's wanderlust with a comprehensive atlas.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Career-oriented Capricorn always enjoys gifts that will boost their job status. A leather laptop carrier or monogrammed briefcase would be welcome. Contrary to popular belief, though, Goats aren't all work and no play. This sign is blessed with a wicked sense of humor, so try the BBC's "The Office" series on DVD. Capricorns also love luxurious presents they'd never buy for themselves, like a silk bathrobe.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
You never know what this unpredictable sign will be doing from moment to moment â one week it's skydiving and the next it's yoga! Still, this quirky sign always appreciates technological gadgets, whether it's an all-region DVD player or an iPod Nano. If you'd like to choose something a little more personal, why not make a photo album detailing all of your exploits with the Water-Bearer? Aquarius may not show it, but they harbor a special fondness for their friends. Still stumped for ideas? A basket filled with brand new socks is both weird and practical enough for this sign, which rules the ankles.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
These mystics love gifts of all kinds, but especially ones that help them escape the harsh realities of life. A bottle of champagne, a kaleidoscope or a book of fairy tales will appeal to your Fishy friends. And because Pisces is a Water sign, it's a good bet they'll appreciate bath salts, foaming cleansers and shower gels. If you'd like to give something really special, a digital camera will make a bit hit with this natural-born photographer. Looking for a romantic gift? Choose a gilt-edged volume of love poetry.

Cheers!

Baby Themed birthday party ideas? HELP me please!?

Jasmine

I am hosting a baby themed birthday party/ sleepover.

I need some party decoration & party favors for my party! I am a girl. :))

And when to start it? My birthday is on September 15th,2012. A saturday!
I will be serving Breakfast, but not dinner

Answer
Use baby colored decorations like streamers and balloons, tablecloths, etc in soft pastels with some childproofing items thrown in wherever you can think to have them. Look up baby shower games for ideas of fun games. As your prizes for your games, you can get some onesies, blankets, booties, toys...these are larger more expensive items, OR you could do smaller items like baby food and cereal, shampoo, baby oil, wipes and butt cream. As your friends win they can draw their prize from a grab bag and be surprised for a big laugh. Of course your friends can keep their prizes if they want but kids your age mostly have no use for those items, and after the joke of getting that prize...the best thing to do is donate them. If you explain things and have a box or laundry basket handy (decorated of course!) the donating will be easy...they can just drop them in the box as they win. After the party you can drop them off at the women's shelter or somewhere that helps families in need. And be sure to thank them for giving their prize back to you so you can donate it!

For your table setting, serve drinks in sippie cups. Pacifiers for napkin rings. Bibs at each place setting. If you wanted to decorate them for the occasion...and everyone can take their items home as a memento. Also put a handful of dry cheerios on each person's plate (baby's first finger food is often cheerios)...then just serve regular breakfast. You can keep it simple...some oven fried bacon and scrambled eggs (easy at the last minute), store bought croissants with a couple jellies, yogurt c cups, and orange juice. For snacks, you can place bowls of kiddie foods around the party...teddy grahams, granola bites, gummy bears, etc.

For your goody bags, get some small it's a boy or it's a girl or welcome baby or whatever gift bags...then fill with baby bottle pops candies, fruit roll ups, teddy grahams, and goldfish crackers (typical toddler foods, these all come in little pouches), and then maybe toss in some baby powders and baby wipes in locker friendly sizes for your friends...wipes are great at school for freshening up, and getting stains out of clothes, and cleaning minor spills. You could make a mix cd for each person with songs with the word baby in them...Not hard at all! They can also take home their baby themed table setting items, so make sure your goody bags have some room to spare.

For your thank you notes...get kiddie ones...write your note in crayon!

Happy birthday and enjoy your party!

CAN WOMAN WITH IRREGULAR PERIODS GET PREGNANT?

Q.

Answer
I tired for 4 loooooooong years!!! I thought it would never happen:( My cycles were irregular, I would have a period every month...my problem was the bleeding sometimes would last an entire month with only a week break.

I have a wonderful 9 year old son...I had him when I was 18 and not trying at all. I was on BC but of course was terrible at taking it. Anyway, I had my baby and my life was great! I thought for sure when I decided to have another one it would happen right away! BOY was I WRONG!!!

Over 4 years ago my hubby and I started trying again...and nothing! Month after month after month my period came without fail! I had irregular periods...my cycles varied from every 14 days to 45 days and ovulation test never seemed to turn positive no matter how many times a day I took them. So I went to a fertility doctor (actually I went to two!) I was checked and cleared of any issues, my hubby was also checked and cleared...we were diagnosed with "unexplained fertility". Which basically means they have NO idea why you canât get pregnant.

So this past May I started my period...lasted the normal 6 days and stopped. Then 16 days later it came again...but it did not stop until 33 days later (yep 33 days of bleeding straight!!). Went to the doctor and was told I had an anovulatory cycle (cycle that no ovulation happens) and the constant bleeding was because my hormones were messed up. Finally the bleeding stopped...and never started again. I called my doctor and told her after 6 weeks of no returning period if there was a chance I was actually pregnant. She said VERY unlikely due to my messed up cycles. But I wanted to take a test anyway...my nipples were sore and had been for about 2 weeks straight. Well on August 10, 2011 after work I took a test and BAM...TWO lines!!! Then I took 2 more tests that night and again both strong positives!!! I called my doctor the next day and she was shocked! I made an appointment for my first ultrasound...found out I was 7weeks 4days and the baby had a strong heartbeat:)

Now I am 16 weeks 4 days along...due April 6, 2012 (5 days before my 29th birthdayâ¦what an awesome b-day gift)!!! I have my next ultrasound in two week on November 10th to find out the gender:)

Friend turning 30, any birthday gift ideas?

AsianEyes

Hope you can help me. I'm looking for a gift to give my friend. She's going to be turning 30 soon. We've known each other since high school, but I'm still not sure what I should get her. What's a good gift to give a 30 year old woman? Any ideas would be a big help.

P.S. If you give suggestions of a certain item, please add a favorite brand name. I'm really clueless when it comes to gift giving, so that would really help me out, too.

~Thanks!~

Answer
I think this is such a cute creative idea. I will be giving this as a gift to my boyfriend soon. You may go to Kinkos and give them a picture that both of you are in it. Then tell them to make it into a puzzle. Once you give it to her she would have to put the puzzle pieces together and it will come out to be a picture of you guys. I think its a very cute idea but I think this wouldnt be enough since you two have been friends since high school. You may go to a spa and buy 1 spa session for her or she could get a facial done.

Friend birthday gift ideas?!!?

gossipgirl

Okay, my bestest friend since first grade is going to be fifteen this weekend [yay] && I can't think of what to get her! Here's my idea:

Get her fifteen balloons, bake her fifteen cookies, get her a abercrombie shirt, a hollister shirt&a victoria secret pink shirt, with a card of course.

See, I can't spend very much. && plus it's almost christmas and she's going to get a christmas present from me, and i'm getting her brother a birthday present and him a christmas present and it all kinda adds up in the end. So should I just get her that?? any other ideas would be nice! thanks!
Kay, yeahh see I'm in something called highschool. no one EVER decorates lockers. hence the fact me giving her one balloon at school, because balloons are the new things. decorating lockers was so last year.

Answer
your idea is good! those three shirts are actually very generous, and with the balloons and cookies you have a personal, fun idea. Maybe continue the 15 theme... fifteen little things, like lipglosses, candy she likes, a mixed CD made by you with 15 songs, etc. Kind of like a stocking!

Instead of the shirts, you could do a mall gift card and in the card, invite her shopping.

Gift ideas for boys 7-9 years-old?

Leticia

My family and I "adopted" and orphanage, in Tijuana, Mexico, for El Dia del Niño. We need ideas for what kind of gifts to buy five 7-9 year old boys. We want to get them something that is not electronic (because they won't always be able to buy batteries and stuff). If you could give me ideas of what boys 7-9 years-old like, that would be great. Thanks.

Answer
Any type of building blocks, any kind of popular action figures, simple games where they don't need to read the English, outdoor equipment like balls, puzzles, crafts. At that age, kids still like most things even if its not some fancy name brand...I would imagine especially so for orphans. Whatever you can afford will be appreciated.

Special gifts from aunt...3 kids ages 11,3,7months?

Answers pl

I am an aunt to 3 great kids. There is an 11 year old girl, 3 year old boy, and a nearly 7 month old girl. This will be the baby's first Christmas. I want to get each of them something great that they will love. The kids really have everything, so I can't think of anything. The parents suggested just dvds or Claire's jewelry for the 11 year old, but I'm not sure.

Any ideas? Please keep in mind that I have limited time, and I am only 16 years old so I can't afford anything too expensive ($50 max for each gift). I also can't buy anything online (you can provide links, but it has to be something I can find in a store as well.)

Thanks!
7 month old- has all basic baby toys, hand-me-downs from siblings, etc. Can't think of anything at all.

3 year old- loves Spiderman, Spongebob, cartoon-movies. Likes cars, tools, etc.

11 year old- likes fashion, jewelry, anything girly.

Answer
11 year old girl: Get her some perfume from Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister...Not expensive and very prestigious for a girl her age.

3 year old boy: An Action figure or two should please him. Or a simple building craft project, since he likes tools. Check out the toy section at any store, they have fun boy things, great cars, swords, balls, or any action activity toy, since he sounds like he has a lot of energy.

7 month old girl: There are so many cute toys for babies. Soft blocks, balls, any type of sensory toy, or even a great book for bedtime. Toys r Us has a great selection, or Babies r Us, even Target or Walmart has some fun soft toys for babies.

Valentines Gift Ideas?

Darem;)

I want to get my boyfriend something for Valentines Day. I don't want to just give him chocolates and a card, but something more personal. We first bonded together over the subject of tea (funny as it sounds), so I was thinking of getting him a customised mug saying "Keep Calm and Drink Tea". He also loves Xbox, especially Black Ops (He's obsessed), so maybe "Keep Calm and Kill Zombies" might be good? I don't know, any ideas?
I don't want to get him anything slushy because we are not like that, just something to let him know I care and to remember the little things:)
Thanks in Advance!

I have a birthday, an anniversary on thanksgiving, and chirstmas comming up. Does anyone have any good gift ideas?

Answer
We'll, you've certainly got a lot on your plate there. For the birthday, it always matters what kind of person we're talking about. Your spouse/girlfriend - see below, regarding everyone else, best way to start is to consider any personal interests of him/her you know about for a moment.

People always consider those gifts most valuable that they didn't even know they wanted, but are related to something that they are passionate about. Things that scream "I'm thoughtful".
The second best thing is something that made you think about that person, or relates to the personality of that person in any other way.

This is of course a little hard to find out if you don't have that much inside in the persons everyday life, so here are a few more general ideas you can always consider:
a) Books are a good place to start, as long as the person actually reads (ok, that's an obvious one).
b) DVD's and other media also provide an entertaining experience, and the person you give them to can even share the experience with you.
c) Gift Certificates are a good choice, if you're a little creative and know the person well enough, you have nearly unlimited options on what to provide a gift certificate for. You can even go as far as organize a full day trip that way. This is of course most appropriate for good friends, your girlfriend or your parents. Buy-able vouchers for things like indoor climbing, trips to the cinema, a circus or a theater play also make very good gifts.

Girlfriend/Spouse specialties

With girlfriends, jewelery never wears off as gift. It's rarely used anymore, especially nowadays where people are always in a hurry and don't believe in there own ability anymore to choose something his or her partner would like.

It's easier then finding perfumes, for example.

Actually, jewelery and gems are one of the easiest gifts, because you just have to go shopping with her a few weeks before the actual event and keep taking your time in places and shops where she can check out the display. All you have to do is pay close attention to what she keeps looking at, and you'll have more options than you need for her quicker than you can imagine.

The best way to shop for jewelery, however, especially if you've got a limited budget, don't have much time, no Ideas what to get her at all or mixture of all of the above, is to start looking within online jewelery stores. This page should provide you with a good list for startes, which covers shops from all pricing ranges:
http://jewelerystores.weebly.com

Adventure gifts are generally extraordinarily well received as well, that's why I included two links below. But they are also a tad more expensive.

If you need more detailed tips, be a little more specific on the persons you need the gifts for, and maybe also the age range for the respective persons.

Best regards,
Thorsten

40th birthday gift ideas?

Chezza

its my mums 40th birthday very soon and i would like to buy her something special that isnt very expensive, any ideas?

Answer
Get her something that lasts, so she'll remember a lovely day. You could buy her lots of tiny little things, like a necklace, a diary, a fancy pen, a picture frame, some chocolates, a tiny teddy and a nice perfume. It's lovely to open a gift bag and have lots of presents inside. Maybe even make a few things to go inside? You could do a drawing or write her a poem. I wish her a happy 40th and you good luck in getting her some lovely presents :)

Gift ideas for 40th Birthday?

njpiglet1

I am going to the 40th birthday party of a friend of mine and I have no idea what to get her. She has everything! She will be traveling to China in the next few months to adopt her second daughter, so I thought maybe something to do with that, but I can't think of anything. I am getting desperate, the party is Feb. 10th. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
You can bring her a jade pendant. Jade is for good luck, which would be a nice thing for her to bring along on her exciting trip.
Another idea is a fancy journal to fill out during her trip. Something to remember the big event.
Or, a gift certificate to a local spa for manicure/pedicure, to pamper herself before she leaves.
Perhaps a digital photo frame (if too pricey go in w/someone else) to show off all the pics I'm sure she'll be taking overseas.

19 Month Old Preemie...Easter gift ideas??

Mom of One

Yep, I'm one of those Mom's that wants to get the next holiday done right after the previous one (Heart's Day). Does anyone have any good gift ideas for a 19 month old. She's delayed though and is around 12 months developmentally. She doesn't need anymore toys! So far I have a Pooh Easter board book, some bubbles, and a little chick that chirps. Any other ideas? She doesn't quite grasp the concept of coloring so coloring books and sidewalk chalk are out. Thanks for your thoughts!

Serious answers only please!!

Answer
I'm thinking books is always a good way to go. I know what you mean about not needing any more toys though! Books, bubbles, those little wind-ups toys...sounds like you've thought of everything I can. =P

A cute outfit and the Easter basket with the stuff you mentioned will be plenty enough, in my opinion. You could get her those little plastic eggs and put some little toys or treats in them for her to crack open and "find"...kids love that kind of stuff.

Have fun!

Birthday on Easter Sunday? Gift idea?

dorky123

We are attending a Birthday on Easter Sunday...and I would really like to tie in Easter and Birthday together in my gift. So I was thinking about a basket filled with books a bunny and small toys. It's for a 1 year old girl. Any ideas on something cute I can do to add to my idea or a new idea?

Answer
I use to have a girlfriend who was really into cows and I had found a card in the shape of a cows head, and a paper with black cow spots. So I took black yarn and braided a tail. I wrapped my box in the black cow spot paper, taped the card to one end of the box without the envelope and the tail to the other end. I think you can do the same only as a bunny, Either find a card of only the bunny head or cut one out you like of the appropriate size and but Cotton balls on the other side for the tail. Unless you can find a large hollow egg (the kind used in window displays) and put the books inside of that wrapping a huge ribbon around the seam of the egg. You may have to hot glue some of the ribbon down. Gift wise I think your good.

Gift ideas for 10 and 12 year old boys?

infinitysb

Hi, I need some gift ideas for my nephews. Money is tight this year so I can't spend too much. My brother has decided to show me up and get them both a Wii, but he forgot about getting any games for it. So he said I should get them Wii games. I don't really like being bound by his gift, and all the good games I saw were over $40, even used. I don't want to get crappy games that they won't play. Anyways, I would rather get something more with a personal touch. The 12 year old is into his guitar and drums and rock music. He also likes sports, as a spectator, and is into nerdy stuff like Star Trek (thanks to his dad). The 10 year old is an animal lover, who doesn't like sports, and is into anime type stuff like Naruto, Inuyasha and whatnot. Any ideas would be greatly appreciate. Please try to keep it under $25

Answer
10 and 12 year olds are just the perfect age to spark an interest that they may gravitate to later in years and become a profession....The star trek boy may lean toward astronomy and become a Nasa expert..the field is wide open. A good telescope may spark a desire to know more...the animal lover may become a Veterinarian or animal biologist with great books about Jack and the Sea or the "crikey" guy (can't think of his name) and books about the little known world of animals. They may not thank you profusely now but later on, call you their mentor.

Gift ideas for 2 year old boys birthday?

mom of two

My son is turning two soon and I need help finding gift ideas for it. He has a three year old brother so my house is over run with toys. I'm hoping for ideas other than a the usual. Such as trucks, blocks, dinosaurs and so on. We like to read so we also have an abundance of books as well. Does any one of ideas that stand out and are different?

Answer
-Dress up for boys. Hats, vests, beards (style ideas: pirates, construction workers, lumber jacks, etc). I've seen those on Etsy and I think they are adorable! But that would add to the toys, but at 2 years they begin playing make-believe.

-Edible playdough. Make it yourself (google search or look it up on pinterest), or buy it from Etsy. Put it in a fun jar or tupperware. Eventually it would disappear either because he ate it or because he let it dry out. No toys to add to the clutter!

-Pop-up Playhouse. We got one of these for my son last Christmas for about $18. You can get them at most of the big stores (Target, Walmart, we got ours at Big Lots and I've seen them at Ross and TjMaxx). The beautiful thing about it is it's giant when it's set up, but the whole thing folds up flat in less than 10 seconds and slips nicely behind the couch. Easy clean up, big fun!

There's another great list of birthday gift ideas - it's for 1 year old kids, but most would still work for a 2 year old - like bath toys, sensory balls and stuff like that. It would be adding to the toys, but I thought it worth mentioning... at least for some more ideas.

Good luck whatever you decide!

What would a 9 year old boy like for Christmas?

Alexis

At my job we do a thing for less fortunate children and I picked a 9 year old boy; however I have no idea what to get him. I would like to get him something he would enjoy, but obviously not too expensive and I have no idea what he likes as we just choose a paper with a name, age and gender. Any help is appreciated.

Answer
Its a great idea..very nice gesture..some of the gift ideas i can think of are:-
Skate or surf boards are interesting gifts for young kids.

Help please, I'm desperate!!!

Hmmm... If you don't want to buy something big for your best friend, why don't you try giving her handcrafted wooden box. She can use it to store her stuff and am sure she will love it. Take a look at MarqArt Gift Shop collection, am sure you will find one that is within your price range.
