What are good Christmas presents for my family?

Q. I need gift ideas for my mom, dad, and 17 year old sister. Nothing too expensive, I don't want to get my sister clothes either. I especially need ideas for my dad! Thanks!

A. These are PERFECT -- I bought them for my family a few years ago and they have asked for them each year since. They are cute, unique useful and more importantly AFFORDABLE! They are having a sale for the holidays.

I have also given them to friends, coworkers and used them for secret santas. Here is the website:

Good Luck!

Can anyone help me with present and gift ideas?
Q. 1. Okay so My Dad's birthday is coming up on the 21st of November (this month) hes 39 or 40 and i seriously need birthday ideas, please help!

2. My Mom's birthday is also coming up 38 or 39 is old she will be, gift ideas?

Thank you in advance i know i didn't give you a lot to use but i just want you to put things you've given family members in the past and ideas you would like to share with me, anything! :D

A. After spending a lot of time searching for great affordable gifts for my family, I thought it would be great to make a list of some of the best websites for others to be able to compare products and prices, quickly and easily.

What else can I give my mom for her 50th birthday?
Q. Ok so I was thinking that i'll give my mom 50 things for her birthday. I'm going to start from something big and start going down to something small. Can somebody give me some other gift ideas that a mom will love? Please. Thanks.

A. Organise a spa day for her and a few of her close friends, then send them to a salon and get their hair and make up done and then send them out for dinner. This might be a bit expensive, so you could split it with brothers, sisters and your dad maybe?

Get her really nice things for her room, like candles, a bed spread, cushions, a rug, a plant etc.

Get her a photo album and print all her favourite photos that she hasn't got printed yet.

A surprise party with all of her friends and family, you can do this for fairly cheap if you organise it properly.

If she's got a band or artist that she loves, buy her tickets to see their concert.

If she reads, get her loads of books that you think she'd like.

If she's into fashion, you could hire a stylist and send her shopping with a personal stylist for a day
You could also send her on a shopping trip to New York, Paris, Milan or London, depending on where you live.

If she's into music, but her a giant iPod and spend time getting all the songs she'd love and organise playlists and stuff.

What are good but cheap Christmas gift ideas?
Q. I need to purchase Christmas gifts for my father, brother, grandmothers, mom, and friends. What are some great and personal Christmas gift ideas that won't cost me a fortune? I also need to bring them by plane so they need to be fairly unbreakable and transportable. Thanks so much for your help and Merry Christmas!

A. I've always turned to homemade gifts such as cookies, breads, ect. Baking ingredients go a looooong way!

What is a good gift to give to a Holocaust survivor?
Q. She is a woman who is coming to my class for my Holocaust presentation. I haven't met or talked to her yet, but she must be over 70 years old. (Don't think that 70 is old because Chuck Norris as 1 year to go for the big seven-oh)

I'm getting flowers and a card but I want a better/main gift. Any ideas?

A. Your shoes.

Please do not think that I am being thoughtless, rude, sarcastic or improper. My wife and I just watched a show in which they interviewed Holocaust survivors. One of the FIRST things they were denied was their shoes.

Be polite; be respectful, but take the shoes off of your feet and give them to her. Ask her to think of you when she sees them. Tell her this will give you one half of one percent understanding of what happened to THEM. Oh, and give her YOUR FAVORITE shoes.

Help with ideas to put in 50th birthday favour boxes please help?
Q. I am thinking about getting some favour boxes for something different for the guests for my dad's 50th birthday party.
Has anyone got any ideas of what i could put in them? I don't want the normal things like almonds as these are more for weddings.
Any ideas, even if they sound silly or the ideas are funny
Anything will help!!
PS they can't be too big as they will have to fit into favour boxes which are quite small
Thanks

A. Hi i am also looking to fill some favour boxes for saturday as i have a couple of friends coming around with there daughter for an early christmas lunch as we will all be with our familys on christmas day. So i am just looking to fill 6 in total, 2 men, 2 women, 2 teenage girls. I have made and personalised my own boxes. The colour theme is red and black. I was thinking i may put some tinsel or something just to layer the bottom and then i have bought a tin of roses chocolates which are on offer in most supermarkets at this time of year for around £4 i will then put in a chocolate or 2 along with a choice of key ring or lip gloss. I also thought about my local market that has a cheap jewellery stall and sells bits and bobs of jewellery and earrings from ex chain stores he does them at £1 per item or 2 for £1.50 so maybe a small pair of earings or something.
Then theres party poppers, tea light candles, small personalised pack of flower seeds, minature soaps, scratch cards, phone/wine glass charms like these...

pin badge, fortune cookie. Just some thoughts for what im thinking of not sure if you can take anything from that. Hope it helps. If you need any more inspiration have a look around the poundland or ebays always a great bet x

What kind of gift should I bring to my neighbors 50th birthday party/barbecue?
Q. We have only lived in our house for about 4 months. We are friendly with our neighbors, but have never spent any substantial time with them. We have been invited to the wifes 50th birthday/end of summer barbecue/party. What is an appropriate gift to bring? A plant? A bottle of wine? Flowers?

A. Any fifty year old person would appreciate the humor in receiving and will certainly use a good magnifying glass. I use this idea as a standard gift for my friend's 50th, 60th and 70th birthday gifts. It is a light hearted, humorous, useful and necessary gift, indeed.

What should I bring to a 50th birthday party when the invitation says, "no gifts"?
Q. I have just received an invitation to a 50th birthday party and it stated that no gifts were needed. Can you give me ideas on what to bring?

A. You can call the host for suggestions...they may resent you bringing food as it is not designated, Unless it's potluck, don't assume food will be welcome and even complementary to the food already provided.
However, it wouldn't be too bad to bring a bottle of a favorite wine or champagne.

What is the most effective way to budget?

Q. Every year around the month of December, I am more broke than any time of year. This year is no exception. However, this year I am not in the hole financially because I over spent on Christmas gifts. Its quite the opposite. I was so broke all year long that I never had any chance to save money for the holidays. This year I wasn't even able to purchase one gift. I know that Christmas isn't about giving gifts, but I would like to do more for those who have done so much for me all year long. Is there an effective way to keep a budget and make it stick? I don't want anything online where I have to enter my sensitive bank Information. I am just looking for an easy to do...plain and simple...paper and pencil....budgeting method. If anyone has any ideas to get me started in the right direction for the new year it would be greatly appreciated. I want to make 2013 the year of financial changes.

A. This question is going to get a lot of really good answers, for you to choose from.
The first thing to do is to have a good mind set that lasts. If you don't achieve this any budget work will go out the window.
The first start is the pen and paper, and you have all the income, and fixed costs calculated.
Fixed costs are those such as rent, etc that won't change.
Then look at some savings.
Take 10% of your income and save it. Don't touch it, always pay yourself first.
Cut up any credit cards. If you can't afford it don't buy it. Learn to say no. You will need to harden up to do this.
If you no Excel, set up a cash flow page. You can set up a page for the whole year, broken into weeks.
This is what I do, I have all the incoming and outgoings calculated for the year. All the calculations are linked, and I am able to see if I spend money in July, what impact I will have to cover in November.
This tool is the best for me, as I can go into the pay week, and calculate the income and expenditure.
If there is a negative at the bottom of the column, then you need to do something about that. But, any entry's in July, flow all the way through the chart, and I can instantly see what the impact will be ahead in the year.
I have used this system for years, and it works.
Set up a savings plan, for the rainy day, that always comes.
But more importantly, you need to alter your behaviour to achieve this.

Good luck.

When will Kingdom Hearts 3 be released in the US?
Q. My little cousin loves the series and I was thinking about getting it for her as a Christmas gift. When does it come out?

A. Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep(PSP) is still in the development and thus will make an appearance during Winter in Japan and somewhere in 2010 it'll appear in America.

KH3 has yet to be developed or thought of. I believe Tetsuya Nomura has another idea before KH3, so there will be no Kingdom Hearts 3 until maybe 2012 or 2013

Help With Destination Wedding Gift Bag Ideas?
Q. My fiance and I are planning a very small wedding (around 20 people, including 4 children) at Disney World in January 2013. We can't afford to pay for everyone's rooms but would like to have a gift bag waiting for them in their room when they arrive. Can you help me with some cute and creative ideas for what to put in them? i would really appreciate it!

A. In addition to items mentioned by the first answerer, it would be nice to put in some microwaveable popcorn and a roll of quarters for vending machines. Another item that would be nice is a Dell Variety Puzzles or Dell Pencil Puzzles and Word Games magazine and a deck of cards for times in the room when they might need to unwind. For the children, depending upon their ages, a Mickey Mouse coloring book and crayons, a small flashlight, a little stuffed animal, packages of fruit snacks, a little box of goldfish crackers, juice packets (the best is Roarin' Waters fruit flavored water-its low cal), and a book. For the kids, you could make a little welcome letter on printable disney stationary (online) and do something like "Gorsh! I am just so happy you are here for _____ & ______'s wedding! I hope you have LOTS of fun! Love, Goofy (or another character)

How do you plan a wedding?
Q. Planning a Wedding for October, 19th 2013. & i have not the slightest idea on where to begin. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

A. Congrats on the wedding. Actually without realizing you already HAVE begun. You picked a date. Sometimes that's pretty hard!
1. Get yourself a notebook and keep your thoughts and ideas in it! You'll need it and love it. Splurge a little and get a niceish one.
2. to start off, sit with you and your fiance to get a close budget. then sit with parents and find out if they will be contributing. If there are financial issues I would expect less so plan with a smaller budget. It's rough but personally it's better to expect less because a LOT of unexpected things will come up, TRUST ME! If planning for a wedding under $10k it will take a lot of planning and figuring out ways to make things cheaper. That's a whole other question!
3. Start thinking about a guest list, and if parents are contributing lots, find out what they are thinking.
4. Use your notebook and start jotting down ideas for they type of wedding you want. Do you want it small? outdoors? formal? What do you want! Work from there.
5. go on pintrest to get some ideas. Great a "board" and expand from there.
6. once you have a budget and aprox guest numbers, you can start looking for venues. I would start with the reception first (espec if on a budget) and then find a ceremony venue (who knows, you may choose to get married at your venue!)
7. Bridal party- how many and who? And no, you arent responsible to pay for their dresses, BUT more bridesmaids mean more gifts to buy, more drama, and more flowers. Plus it makes the possition less special.
8. dress shopping

What to do for my Grandmas birthday?
Q. It is my Grandmas Birthday in November and she will be 90. She still drives, is totally with it, drinks, dances, she is 90 going on about 75. All the grand kids want to do something that is a surprise. It is on a weekend so we can all make it but just not sure what exactly to do. She can walk good and all that, but just thinking of some good gift ideas and surprise ideas, and we live in Chicago. Any suggestions would be great, thank you.

A. A scrapbook may be a good idea. If you can get pictures of her through out her life, you could "interview" her and include her memories and thoughts and stories. You could also get stories from other members of the family to include. Or instead of making it a scrapbook of her life, you could make one of his cherished family members from when she was young Or you could make it about how she has affected your life. Either way, it's the stories and memories are what will truly make this a very special gift.

Remarkable Memories designs scrapbooks with photos and memoriabilia provided by you and has it printed, bound into a photobook and shipped directly to you or you can just purchase the digital files and have it printed on your own. Check out RMScrapbooks.shutterfly.com or RMScrapbooks.blogspot.com or Facebook for ideas or help putting this together.

What are some creative, original, homemade gifts that I can make for Christmas??
Q. I am looking for some creative and original gifts that I can make here from home to give to my relatives and friends. I need gift ideas for my grandma, my brother who is 27, my sister who is 23, my mom and dad. If you have any ideas they are welcome. And, if you have a website that you got it from that would be even better. Thank you so much.
Note: I am only 13 years old but can sew, knit, and crochet things.

A. I went to a bead store yesterday, and saw some small clutch evening purses that had been hand beaded. They were really pretty. The design was not complicated, and they were all multi-colored.
The price tag was $65. Craft stores carry the frame and the material as a kit for the purses.
I used my browser, and typed in craft purses, and there were many. I went to Biz rate, they had several frames.
You could make them in any color, black, gold, red, or the multi I saw.
I do not know of many craft projects for men, just hand embroidered handkerchiefs, or a golf towel, or stamped golf balls.

What are some Christmas gift ideas for an 87 yr old Grandma?
Q. My husbands grandma is still mentally ok but physically having health problems. She has just been put in a nursing home. Not sure if it will be for a few months or forever.

I have thought of a few things I could get her but wanted some other opinions to see if these things are good for nursing home patients.

Any amount under $60.00 is ok.

A. I always bought my grandmother a nice robe and slippers. A blanket might be nice for her too.

Christmas gift ideas for a guy returning to Iraq?
Q. Hi, I'm looking for Christmas gift ideas for a guy (we're close friends) who is leaving for Iraq right after the holidays. I was thinking of giving him a digital photo frame. Any other great ideas out there? Thanks!

A. He really can't take too much with him, so you may want to give him some small stuff that he can carry and wait to send him anything big like a digital photo frame in a care package.

My son deployed this past June and he sent everything personal that he owned home with me when he cleared out his room. Anything that he wanted to take with him to Iraq had to be approved by his sgt. before packing. I have gradually sent him a few of his things in care packages. One thing that he really likes to get are games he can play on his laptop (he bought that once he was there, and will send it home before he returns).

Some things that he asked for immediately were a small state flag (we live in Texas), fingernail clippers, disposable razors, batteries and snacks.

If your friend is religious a good gift would be a St. Christopher medal. You could have it blessed. An electric razor is also good. Or an electric toothbrush -- anything small and transportable that helps with personal grooming.

Merry Christmas!

What is good punishment for a loser who doesn't send his girlfriend a Christmas gift?

Q. My friend is in a long-distance relationship, and I just found out that her boyfriend not only ignored her for two weeks around Christmas, but he also didn't send her a gift or even a card! He's really sorry, and she doesn't really want to dump him, but she wants to make sure it doesn't happen again. Any ideas?

A. She should get someone to give him a good harsh whipping. bring him to tears and humiliate him in any way that she can think of.

What should I get my boyfriend for Christmas?
Q. We've been together for about 5 months. We started off as best friends, but I feel like I have no idea what to give him for Christmas. He's into video games, but he's dorming without his game consoles so I don't know if I should even consider getting him a game. His clothing style is really simple--t-shirt and jeans/ basketball shorts. We're both 18, kind of a long distance thing going on (colleges on opposite sides of the state) but our homes are close together so we're seeing each other for the holidays. Help?

A. Games are okay but not really exciting. Do you have pictures of you guys? Maybe buy a nice personalized frame and put a picture of you together in it. If you don't already have the picture then when you are together have someone take some pictures of you.

Give him tickets to an event. You could give him plane/train tickets or a gas gift card to come see you. Put together a bunch of little things for him to take back to school like your favorite cologne of his, cookies and anything that might remind him of you. You could also give him a book that you will also read and you could read the book together over the phone.

My hubby and I did the long distance thing in college and it really brought us closer together. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

What can I ask a girl to find out her house number, without her becoming suspicious of my Valentine's plans?
Q. I'm sort of in a long-distance relationship with a girl and want to send her a card and gift token through the post for Valentine's day. Thing is I don't know her house number and if I was to just ask she would know that I was planning on sending her something. I don't know her friends so can't ask them. So I'm just looking for ideas of what to say so that I can find out without her suspecting anything!

Best Answer will be what I end up saying!

Edit - I appreciate the answers given to help so far.
Re: Answer #1 - I said I don't know her friends.
To the gent who answered second - she's a girl I met on holiday last year and have visited twice since. I'm not looking for hostile remarks like yours.
I don't think looking up white pages or dialling any numbers will work as we are both in the UK. I just need more suggestions of what to say such as Answer #4
Yellowbook.com won't be any help will it? Yep we are both in the UK.
More answers like Answer #7 would be great, I gave you a thumbs up for giving several suggestions. I'll reply to them:

-Getting her to send a letter will take too long.
-I don't know her family.
-I don't want her to keep asking about the person supposedly moving to/living in her area!!

Cheers though!

A. If you know her last name do a search for her name and see what address pop up. You can also look at your local auditors website and track her through the property tax info of her parents with only a last name.

Is an iPod Touch a good gift for girlfriend?
Q. I've known her for a long time and we have been really close friends before the relationship and we are about be together for a whole 2 months. It's a long distance relationship too. I wanted to buy her a iPod Touch 5th Generation and an armband for the iPod for when she works out at the gym..also a card and letter. It'll be around $375 in all. She's into sentimental things instead of expensive jewelry so I was thinking of an iPod this time.

She can FaceTime with me and use iMessage and sometimes we can play games on GameCenter and all the other stuff you can do with the iPod Touch.

(Plus I want to surprise her with it so I don't want to ask her about what type of jewelery she would like because it could be a hit and a miss. With the iPod, I know she'll use it a lot and it'll be something she will like.)

What do you think? Good Idea? Your opinions?:) Is it too much?

Thank You!

A. Well if she's into sentiental things, don't use an Ipod, that's not something that's very sentimental. Something that's sentimental could be something like a huge teddybear holding a heart saying "I love you" then you can fill in the 4th word with her name in sharpie. Write her a letter on how you feel about her and hope she likes it. :) You can also try decorating the bear by giving it a hat or something haha. ~Grimmy~

What is a good gift idea for a 15-year-old girl?

Q. My sister has a really hard time thinking up gift ideas because she is very practical. She is not like normal teenage girls - she hates makeup, isn't into fashion things, and doesn't fawn over any celebrities. She enjoys writing, drawing, painting, singing, drumming, etc. She likes worship music - suggestions for any specific worship bands? Her favorite TV show is My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. She likes video games, but can't find any good ones (she hates violence/gore, language, etc.); her favorites are Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Halo Reach. Her favorite animal is a dog/wolf, her favorite authors are Robert Liparulo and Wayne Thomas Batson, and she really likes Scotland and Ireland (she nearly peed her pants when she watched Brave and saw Celtic Thunder in concert).

On a side note, do any of you have inspiration for my sister? She has at least 20 books right now, all ideas in progress, and would like inspiration. :)

Thank you to anyone who can help! As some of my favorite people say, you can't get medicine unless you ask for it!

A. Well she likes both Nintendo and Halo. Seems the best compatible idea in the video game department is the Wii U. Personally, I bought it and it is pretty interesting with the game pad and all. Plays all the Wii stuff too. Considering she already is in the hands of an xbox, this generally is up in the air. It does play CoD: Black Ops, Mass Effect, and Assassin's creed just like the Xbox and PS3 but then, they are violent. But then, so is Halo. The Wii U is pretty expensive, ranging from $300 to $350 dollars, tax not included. Also if your willing to buy a game with it, that too furthers the price on it.

Considering My Little Pony: FiM became pretty famous, the season 1 set is actually coming to DVD pretty soon. It is possible it may even be out now. Hot Topic is also supporting My Little Pony, having a ton of possible purchasable items regarding the show so you can get her some stuff there. Also Hot Topic sells video game related clothing there too, so if you find some of her favorites you can go there as well. Hot Topic is generally found in shopping malls, by the way.

If her favorite authors are Robert Liparulo and Wayne Thomas Batson, Then it is clear to get something that co-relates with them. Guess you'll have to do some research on what she has of them already.

As for the rest, I can't really think of anything relating to do with Scotland and Ireland. The movie Brave did already came out on DvD / Blu ray. So you could go pick that up too!

Your sister just so happens to like things that I know about, so if there is any other details or information you need to know, you can email! :D

Hope you find the right gift!

What is a good birthday gift from Ireland?
Q. My brother's birthday is coming up very soon, and I am currently living in Ireland and wanted to send him something from here. Also, his girlfriend's birthday is right after his, so I'll send her something too. What are some good Irish gifts to send? I wanted to make him sort of a gift basket with all sorts of different Irish alcohols, (Guinness, Beamish, Murpheys, Bulmers..) but I don't think you can ship alcohol easily. Any ideas? It's his 21st. Also, I'll probably get a small souvenir for my little brother too. Any suggestions on that? Thanks!

A. I would definately recommend a claddagh ring for your brothers girlfriend, it's the most traditional Irish gift for women. tell her when she wears it, that the bottom of the heart should point towards the back of her hand to show she is in love with someone( this is very traditional ) if a girl is single then the heart should point towards the finger tip.
http://images.google.ie/imgres?imgurl=http://www.celticbydesign.com/images/claddagh_rthd_dn.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.celticbydesign.com/index.cfm%3Ffuseaction%3Dfeature.display%26feature_id%3D13&usg=__o7sqSicq-nyUQpEzNh4Xx1H_ytk=&h=200&w=250&sz=9&hl=en&start=1&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=JjZe-3EjsaC5TM:&tbnh=89&tbnw=111&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dwearing%2Bcladdagh%2Bring%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1
for your brothers, there are lots of souvenir shops around, the gift basket is a good idea but you don't have to send alcohol.

What gift should i give to my host family?
Q. im going to france this summer and im staying with a host family. i still don't know who they are yet but i will find out soon. they said we should bring them a gift, but i have no idea what to bring them. the only thing that comes to my mind is a photo collage of miami, fl (were i live). any suggestions?

A. If there's a tourist office in your city, go down there and see what they have. I bring calendars, chocolates, jewellery, t-shirts to my foreign in-laws, but of course you really shouldn't bring clothes if you don't know the sizes. But photo books are also a nice idea - but that said, go to the tourist shop and see what you find.

As an aside, I brought my mother in Ireland a gift of floating candles in the shape of tulips back from the Netherlands once, she loved them.

My cousin is leaving Ireland to go to Australia - any good gift ideas?
Q. He's going for a year. He's a typical man so I dont want to get him anything to lovey dovey or overly sentimental. Just something thats going to come in useful. Has anyone been travelling and been given something that they really used a lot? Or has anyone got any good ideas for a nice pressie?
Thanks in advance!!

A. I reckon a true blue Aussie bloke needs a little red & yellow hat--a pair of black budgie smugglers,
and of course the sunscreen!

Im just a teenager and don't have that much money so gifts ideas under $20- $30 please thanks for your help .

What Do You Get Your Father For A Graduation Gift?
Q. My father just finished nursing school and I need a gift idea. He is a real man's man and loves music and soccer. Any Ideas? (Please keep under $30 range!

A. The bear idea is cute...but if he is a "real man's man" he may not be that into it.

If he's just become a nurse...how about a brand new stethscope or a nice pen....something he'll use everyday and think of you :)

Sensa pens are awesome, they come in a lot of different styles that can be matched to his personality. They are $20 - $40 typically. You can find find them at most office supply stores (Staples, Office Depot, etc..) To find a retailer near you: http://www.sensa.com/index.php

In the end, simply give him something from your heart, even if it's a nice card w/ a gift certificate to Starbucks...it really is the thought!

Congrats to your dad! :)

What are the hot toys this holiday season for 5-8 yr olds (boy or girl)?

Q. I need help in trying to buy my nieces and nephews some great gifts this holiday season. I am not up on kids toys or games so I would appreciate any guidance ...

A. 5, Girl- Vanity sets, Kitchen sets, Barbies, Tea Sets
6, Girl- Lala Loopsy Dolls, Dress Up Stuff
7, Girl- Liv Girls, Video Girl (it's a Barbie with a video camera in it)
8, Girl- Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker, Clothes, Flip video camera

I hope this gave you an idea of what girls like. Sorry, I don't know boys like I know girls... Good luck!

what are good ideas for Christmas gifts for my nephews and nieces ?
Q. they are 2 girls - ages 6 and 11, and 1 boy age 8.

I would like to keep the price for each gift low, like $10 or less for each gift.

thank you for your help

A. A book is always good. It is a gift that can keep on giving. The six yr old would probably like "Junie B" books, and the 11 yr. old would like any real chapter books -- try something by Meg Abbott. For the boy - any book that talks about farting, underwear, or other gross boy stuff is always fun.

Another great option - gift cards at their local fast food joint. I buy Burger King cards - then the kids can buy themselves a meal from ordering to paying. It makes them feel older.

Home made gifts for kids at Christmas?
Q. I've thought of family gifts, but I can't think of any really cool/neat gifts for kids. It needs to be budget friendly, home made, and really cool!

I need ideas for:
14 yr old brother

boys ages: 8, 5, 2
girls ages: 10 & 7

Any other home made crafts that you think are really unique, or that always go over well-- please share!

A. What are you talented at? Can you crochet? Paint? Scrapbook? Design? This article talks about a lot of ideas that you can do. Can you sew? Make stuffed animals or dolls. There are also really easy ways to alter furniture that you buy inexpensively at garage sales. Read for more ideas: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2377386/save_money_and_make_memories_on_christmas.html

What's a good Christmas gift for a 3-year-old boy?
Q. I need to buy a Christmas gift for my 3-year-old nephew. I don't have kids and I'm not up to speed on what kids that age like. I also can't spend much. Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks

A. I have an 8 yr old boy and i loved that age! he was soooo easy to please then! You could get him an AQUADOODLE, their about $20 dollars, no mess, no noise! Its a mat you can either hang on a wall or lay out on the floor and it comes with a "marker" but to make the marker work you just fill it with water, so it doesnt have any color and cant stain anything. the top layer of the mat is white and when the child writes on it with the marker the blue backing shows thru until it dries then they can start over. Or you could do the large legos! They love those, just make sure you don't get the small ones because they can be a choking hazard. I think both of these things are great because the build imagination! The aquadoodle is also very educational because it helps them learn to write and has the alphabet and numbers around the frame of the blank center where they draw. I hope these suggestions help!

What are some birthday gift ideas for 14 year old boys?

Q. In April, I'm turning 14 and I'm writing down my birthday gift list and I can't think of much stuff. I already got iPad 1 or 2, iPod Touch, and Kindle down so don't say those. So if you could please give me some gift ideas I would be really grateful!! :)
I also already have an Xbox 360 with Kinect.

A. Motorola Xoom. Waaaaaay better than the ipad 1 and 2. Maybe ask for a new android or smartphone. Or ask for assassins creed for your xbox, a world of warcraft membership and the game, or something sporty like a basketball hoop.

Im writing a newspaper article about Christmas Gifts Ideas how should I right it?
Q. What she I write , should I write like christmas gifts ideas for , women , men , boys , girls but I don't really like it like that . or another way I need something very good and something with an lot of information . thanks:)

A. Well, you should write "write" right to begin with, although looking at the rest of your grammar, I'm afraid this article is going to be a mayor challenge for you from beginning to the end.
Once you work out your grammar issue, keep it as simple as possible. I would write about Christmas ideas just for men, because this is a challenge every year as well. A tie again, or his favorite cologne??
Here's a "neutral" article I was able to find.

Good luck.

What to gift my country boy husband for 15th anniversary?
Q. HELP! It's my 15th wedding anniversary and I need gift ideas. My husband is a country boy that doesn't dress up, wear cologne or watches. Any of the typical gift stuff doesn't apply to him. He is a simple, loving man. I really need some creative ideas. He has all the fishing and hunting gear one man can own.

A. How about a gift card or certificate to go on a fishing weekend with a buddy or you if you like fishing? Like go ahead and call the hotel, set up reservations, and all that so all he has to do is GO! Maybe even get a few gift cards for dinner, look up restaraunts in that area and hook him up!

What's a good gift to get my boyfriend for our 6th month anniversary?
Q. I'm terrible with gift ideas, really bad, and also boys are so hard to shop for! It's mine and my boyfriends 6 months in 2 weeks and I want to get him something special. I love him so much and I want to show him this so I really need your guys help! Any ideas at all would be excellent thankyou!!!!!

A. Well besides the normal gifts that guys want like the latest video game, shoes, trinkets etc. try going for something unique like a personalized letter, shirt, pictures etc. You can look for ideas online and see that you have lots of options. Some of these ideas you can also do on your own to add personality.

You need to look into a gift that you think he wont only appreciate but also value as a memory of the relationship you two have and enjoy.

I picked an ornament from the Christmas tree at my local ymca?

Q. The idea is that you get the gift that is listed on the ornament for a child that is in need of a gift from a shelter. The ornament I picked has several gift ideas listed. My question is, Will the gift I gift be the only gift this child receives on Christmas or do they out these ornaments out at several different places? I do plan on gets just about everything listed as gift ideas, but I was just curious. The people at the Ymca didn't know the answer to my question and they didn't know how many gifts to get from each ornament.

A. In my area, the Giving Trees are operated through the local Community Action Agency. They take the names and wishes of those in need, and then distribute these names throughout the area. The child's name will go on one tree only, so that more children can be served and no one is left out.

The gifts you purchase will be the only gifts this child will receive though an *agency* yet they may not be the only gifts this child receives. Family and friends may be able to purchase a few small items... or maybe not. In these uncertain economic times when necessities are hard to come by, gifts are not always something one receives.

I just want to take a moment to thank you for your generosity. All too often I open this page to "What should I ask for this Christmas?' rather than, "What Can I Give?" Your's is a compassionate heart. I remember the years when I struggled mightily as a disabled single mom to put together a nice Christmas for my kids when dad wouldn't help and the support check didn't come... Thank you for helping a less fortunate child this Christmas. I pray that you are richly blessed. Merry Christmas... and a Happy Thanksgiving to you.

What is a good gift idea for my grandpa when I deploy?
Q. Well my grandpa's a very sentimental guy and he means so much to me. I know this is a weird question to ask. When I start deploying (I'm in the army) I want to do something where he and I both have some kind of trinket or something that we can exchange before I leave to remember each other by. And when I return, we will exchange again till the next time I get deployed. The problem is, I'm racking my brains trying to think of what. Any ideas? Thanks and please not negative comments!

A. Not strange. I think it's sweet. Here's some jewelry ideas. You can exchange dog tags.

What's a good list of "favorite" questions to ask my daughter's teacher for parents to send gifts?
Q. I am the room mom for my first grader and for my pre-k daughter. I want to make a list of "favorites" for their teachers to fill out and then send that list out to parents so they can send her gifts for Christmas if they like. What are good questions to ask her as favorites, such as, "What is your favorite store?" so that parents can send her gift cards to that store?

A. 1. Favorite Store
2. Restaurant
3. Hobby

Another idea is to make a 'Wish List'.
The teacher lists things she needs for her classroom. You put them on a sheet of paper and each parent can tear off the sheet of paper with the name of the item that they will buy for her.
This way, the teacher doesn't get 12 of the same thing.

What should I get my parents for Christmas?
Q. Hey guys, I need some gift ideas for the parents. I have a mom and dad to shop for they are not too picky, but I want to make them happy.

A. Do some observations, ask questions as to their likes and dislikes. Watch what your mom and dad like to wear. Maybe you can keep dad young by getting him an Ed Hardy T-shirt, and mom you can find out what kind of perfumes she likes. If all else fails, get them each a gift certificate for stores such as Gap or Old Navy. If you want to be safe, get them a gift certificate for a major store therefore they can get what they really like.

where can i find photographers to take sexy pictures of me for my boyfriend?
Q. My boyfriend always talks about how he loves my curves and how they remind him of an old pinup. So for his birthday I wanted to get some photos taken of me in pinup hair, makeup, and wardrobe. I am looking for a professional photographer in Sacramento, CA to help me with this gift idea. Thanks.

A. Any good portrait photographer should be able to handle this request. Some photographers even specialize in this type of thing.

Your best bet would be to start calling around to all the professional studios and portrait photographers. Some might even be willing to come onsite at your house and shoot(might be an extra cost). As with anything like this, you'd probably want to have a friend around.

What should I do for my Christmas eve baby born 12/24/09 on her first birth day?
Q. My daughters first birthday is a big deal to me, she is my first, one and only child. I need some ideas about when I should celebrate this special day for her since her birthday falls on Christmas Eve and one day before Christmas. How do I get people to come celebrate during such a crunch time. Please help me I have been thinking about this since the day she was born, Im lost and need some ideas.

A. It is a first birthday, and your baby won't remember it, there is no need to make a big fuss. The holidays in general will probably scare the baby, no need to throw some huge party. My mom bought me a blueberry muffin and stuck a candle in it on my first birthday. She snapped a picture, removed the candle and let me eat/play with the muffin for a while. I don't remember it obviously, but I've seen the pictures, I looked pretty happy to have that muffin, and it was a healthy enough treat for a young infant.

If you want to do something memorable for mom and dad (the baby doesn't care, trust me), then maybe look for a small keepsake gift, maybe a nice photo frame to put a picture of your baby on their first birthday in. In years to come you will need to make a bigger deal, so the child has a special birthday, but this is kind of your free pass year.

What are some good and inexpensive gift ideas for teenage girls?

Q. Im trying to round out my gift givng and need a few ideas of unique but inexpensive gift ideas for teenaged girls. Thanks!

A. I went to Starbucks and got a lot of really cute things. I've seen a lot of really cute and inexpensive boxed jewelry at Fred Meyer stores. I bought my niece for her birthday at Trader Joes these French Truffles and her mom a cute little box of cookies from there and they loved them. Not sure where you are located but I love the store Ross and Kohls. They both have cute scarfs and beanie hats for super cheap you could pair up with some cookies or candy :)

Hope you find the right gift!

plz no gifts cards because i want it to be special because she is one of my really good friends and i moved and she is in another state so we dont get to see each other so i want it to be a gift from me.

A. Sorry you won't be able to see your friend. I'm sure you want something really special. Well, photos of you and her together or only you might mean a lot(only if she misses you as much as you do to her). Or skin care products might work because you know, when you are 12 or 13, sometimes you get acne and blackheads and that sort of thing. And hey, I'm 12 too so I know about gifts ideas for 12, 13 years olds.

~hope this helps, honey. And GOOD LUCK!~

What are some gift ideas for a Yankee gift exchange?
Q. My company is having a Yankee gift exchange. For those of you that do not know, it is when everyone brings a gift and places it in the pile. The gifts do not have any names on them. One person chooses a gift and opens it. The next person can choose a gift or steal someone else's gift. Anyway, I need a gift idea that is only a $10 limit and something a male and female would like. Our company also did this last year and anything alcohol related went over well and also $10 gift cards. The inter-office e-mail said to be creative. I am not one for promoting alcohol. Should I just stick with a gift card or does anyone have any other creative ideas?
Guys hate candles; last year some guy got candles and acted ignorant; woman are so much easier to buy for

A. We have the same gift exchange at my office and many people bring "gag" gifts (example - someone brought an electric nose hair trimmer one year and someone else brought a Chia Pet). Coffee mugs filled with candy or hot chocolate are popular. Also, Wal-Mart & K-Mart have a bunch of pre-wrapped "office" type presents (desk top type puzzles, games, etc). You could buy a box of microwave popcorn & a gift card for movie rentals. Or get gift certificates from a local movie theatre. I just try to buy something I like.

Q. I'm trying to come up with something to send my boyfriend out of state for valentines day but can you send baked goods in the mail and if so how and any other gooooooood gift ideas please help!!!!!

A. You ship the same way you would anything
else. Just make sure everything is protected
from external contaminants -- bag the goods
up well before you put them in the box (in fact
you might even want to double-bag)... then
make sure the box is well closed as well.
Don't ship anything that requires refrigeration
(anything with creams, frosting, and so forth.)
