Christmas gift for my grandmother?

Q. i'm 17 and stuck with what to get my 85 year old grandmother.?!
she's quite frail at the moment, as her back is giving her a lot of trouble, and i don't think this will be improving in the future, so sadly any gift ideas surrounding theatre trips/meals out/pamper sessions are a no no because she can't leave the house easily, though i would have liked to buy both my grandparents a nice dinner out so i could spend some time with them.
also she always gets given shower gels and perfumes and things like that, so i wanted to get her something a little different
she likes art and has always painted, but her problems mean she's not really able to draw anymore, so i don't know if i should still get her something art-related maybe?
i know this is a near essay, but i really want to get her something lovely (i don't really mind spending money, either) as she's such a wonderful woman and i love her very much.
any help would be greatly appreciated!

A. I've been getting my Grandparents and parents gift cards because since they seem to have everything they need. Visa has gift cards now. That would be good so that she can get whatever she needs or wants. Personally, I would rather have a gift card then something that I didn't really need or want. More importantly, the time that you spend with her is more of a gift than anything. It's not about the material things.

my 3 year old son needs to be circumcised. anyone knows how bad is it- discomfort and recovery?
Q. the actual procedure will be under general anasthesia.

A. OK - here's the deal. I'm a doctor, and I'm very against circumcision. I can rally on and on and tell you why it is a bad idea, but I won't. There's lots of good helpful information out there on the net, and I'll give you some links.

Bottom line:
-Circumcision is only nescessary in 1% of cases - those involving cancer.

-There are scores of men, who as grown ups, are trying to reduce the affects of circumcision. It is a process called restoring, although you can't restore 100%. A male loses over 70,000 nerve endings, and a process called karetization happens to the glands of every circumcised male - it is a protein growth that de-sensitized the penis.

-There are many support groups for women who've had their children circumcised, then were educated and regretted it. Do you really want to feel this way?

-If your child sufferes from PHIMOSIS, there is a procedure called PREPUTIOPLASTY than should be done rather than circumcision. A doctor that doesn't know about it should be trading in for one that does. Be suspicious of any doctor that tells you that circumcision is your only option. Doctors make lots of money on this procedure - they can be reluctant to offer other options that they don't perform.

-The reason circumcision is so prevalent in America is because it is big business. The hospitals charge for this so called " service" and then sell the foreskin to biotech companies, making huge profits. It is a billion dollar a year industry.

-You'd be surprised to learn how many deaths occure each year from circumcision.

And, to the gentleman ( Figato) above who said that the mutilation argument is a load of crap because it has been done for years, think about this: There is ABSOLUTELY NO medical evidence that it is cleaner for the child. Period. Just because it has always been done isn't an argument. It is stupidity. America is the only place on Earth where this is routinely done. 85% of all men are NOT circumcised.

Do yourself a favor and look into it more closely. By not cutting your child, you are giving him a gift that he'll appreciate for the rest of his life. Think about- it would you want to go through life with the hood of your clitoris or your labia removed for "aesthetic" or "cleanliness" reasons? The foreskin is part of his body and belongs there. Period.

Please, get educated and spread the word. Ignorance is no excuse.

Gift ideas for an 85 yr old woman??
Q. My Granny will be 85 on Saturday and we are having a party. No one has any idea what to get her. She has lived an awesome life and struck gold a few years back when she married a millionaire. So basically she has everything or can get anything! She is the sweetest woman, not fancy at all and you wouldn't know they had money by how simple they live. I am getting her a framed picture of her and my daughter. But no one else knows what to get. Help!!

A. Get her a gift certificate to either spa or out to eat!
