Organise a spa day for her and a few of her close friends, then send them to a salon and get their hair and make up done and then send them out for dinner. This might be a bit expensive, so you could split it with brothers, sisters and your dad maybe?

Get her really nice things for her room, like candles, a bed spread, cushions, a rug, a plant etc.

Get her a photo album and print all her favourite photos that she hasn't got printed yet.

A surprise party with all of her friends and family, you can do this for fairly cheap if you organise it properly.

If she's got a band or artist that she loves, buy her tickets to see their concert.

If she reads, get her loads of books that you think she'd like.

If she's into fashion, you could hire a stylist and send her shopping with a personal stylist for a day
You could also send her on a shopping trip to New York, Paris, Milan or London, depending on where you live.

If she's into music, but her a giant iPod and spend time getting all the songs she'd love and organise playlists and stuff.

My 4 year old is into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins, and of course things like cars, trucks, trains, batman, superman, spiderman, or others super heros. Here lately he has gotten into things artististically as well. He really likes colring or drawing things too. Also, being summer it might be cool to give him outside water toys or some water guns if his parents won't flip out about it.

Big brother books are always a good idea. It introduces them to the idea of being a big brother and shows them how they can help mommy around the house. Also, activities for big brother to do on his own so mommy can tend to the newborn. For example, coloring activities (AquaDoodle is awesome because it is coloring without any mess at all).

My husband and I are having a little girl next month (October) and in December we will be celebrating her first Christmas. What are some gift ideas to get her considering it will be her first Christmas but at the same time she will still be very small? Just because she's a newborn, I do not want that to be an excuse as to why she doesn't have a good First Christmas. What are some gift ideas?

Start a college fund/savings fund/buy stock for her. She will be too little to understand what christmas is. She wont be able to unwrap presents. So, it would be silly to be her lots of stuff that she doesn't need.

Start a fund of some sort and make it a family tradition to place money it every holiday. I think there are roughly 10 major holidays but you can add in as many as you would like. If you put in the amount of money she is based on her age at each holiday she could have a nice account started.

1 year of life = $10 (or give extra for her first christmas)
2 year of life = $20
3 = $30
4 = $40

Wrap it in a nicy shiny package and she will be happy

I'm looking for gift ideas for my ten year old nephew. He is mostly interested in video games, but I'd rather not get him another game. He doesn't like sports, but he seems to have some interest in science. He also really likes technology, such as cell phones, computers, etc.

Every year, when I ask his parents what to get him, they tell me the name of a specific video game or request a gift card for a video game. I'd really like to find something a little more original, that would still be fun. Any ideas?

We are attending a party where the admission is to bring an unwrapped (under $15) gift for a 5 or 6 year old.

I am not into kids, so I have no idea what kids play with today. I have no children, by choice (childfree). My girlfriend has adult children, and no grandchildren. Most of my friends have adult kids, or none. I just am not the type that hangs around kids.

I am SO with you on this one. Childfree here too, and my sister's boys are 10 and 5. When I ask what they want, she says "Everything" *rolls eyes* like that is helpful.

the eldest was into Bionicles a few years ago. He was able to put them together when he was younger than the suggested age (found in the lego isle) but that is generally a boy gift. Barbies are always a good girl gift.. or are you supposed to bring a unisex gift??

Check out the board games. I just played two interesting games with them one was with rings, another was like tetris but it was a board game. You can visit the educational toy stores (think smaller mom and pop type store) and the sales associates would be thrilled to point out appropriate items.

it is easier when you aren't buying for a specific child.

and if you have siblings.. sit down and workout.. Remember if you don't have a lot of money to spend, it's okay. You don't have to spend a bunch to get something special;here are some ideas but you will have to send your parents somewhere out for a little long time and get some friend to help you because you will have to work really fast!

1) make a cake for them
2) cook a special dinner/lunch for them and decorate the house with a llittle candles
3)Book of Photographs...like an old style photo album
4)Bake.Biscuits are easy to bake and the ingredients may already be in the kitchen cupboard. something like the ginger bread figure and with cream make one as a boy and the other as a girl! :)

$20 per person is actually a good amount to work with. You could get nice bath/body gift sets for them. Or you could do the cocoa mug gift sets. You could also do a gift card to grocery store or general store. I don't know what's popular in your area, but here it would be a Jewel gift card or Target gift card, something along those lines. I think a gift card and maybe a small box of candy would be really nice for them.
