She's still in high school, keep in mind. So far I got her a nice piece of clothing, a golden bracelet, and a new dress watch. Are there any gift ideas that are nothing like the ones mentioned above, something really creative or desirable out there? I'm going to make everything cute and stuff, but is there anything else I should consider?
Breamarie91, you're an idiot. "Obsessing over" a relationship? Says you? Like you know half a drop of s*h*i*t whats goin on, you sound so whiny that I'm guessing no guy has ever wanted to get with you.

Answer

What are some bridal shower gift ideas for my future sister in law?

My future sister in law's Bridal shower is in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure what to get her. She is in her early 20's, and pretty conservative. Any ideas would be helpful?

Answer
Get her something off her registry. Those are the items she really, really wants. If you want to add something extra to the gift, then jazz it up. For example, buy all the items on her registry she might need for baking cookies. Then, go to the grocery store and buy the cookie ingredients. Type of the cookie recipe on a nice piece of decorative paper and assembly everything into a cute package or gift basket.

Bridal shower gift that can ship out of state easily?

T

My sister lives in Montana but she's coming back down here in Cali to have the wedding. My other sister, mother, and I need bridal shower gift ideas that we can give her and she can either take it on the plane back or it will ship to her house for relatively cheap. Anyone have ideas? We want something unique and cute... not boring like engraved wedding frames or something.

Answer
If you can get a picture of the bride and groom dancing to their first dance, I saw a great idea where someone put one on a canvas and had the lyrics to the song on the canvas as well. They could hang it in their home and see it everyday. I actually love this idea and have thought about doing it with my picture as well. It's also something unique that any bride would love! Good luck!

This website has a bunch of really cute ideas!

Since its your internet buddy, how about just a nice handmade card? Last year I gave my new neighbor (that I didn't know well) a card and a little origami santa in it, she was really happy.

What are some small ways to make her day in a long distance relationship?

Dennis F

I've been in a committed long distance relationship for about 2 years now. I would like to get some ideas for little things to make her day (e.g. send a handwritten letter or flowers) that might be a bit more out of the box. What are some ideas that you would recommend?

Answer
I've been in a long distance relationship for a year now. My boyfriend finds a way to make me feel special every single day, and it's always something little.

He always calls me first thing in the morning [[for me]] to wake me up - he's 3 hours ahead of me. But he always makes sure that his voice is the first I hear every morning. I don't even need an alarm clock because I always know he will call at just the time I need him to.

One time he sent me roses to my office, just because. That was so sweet... I had a big dumb grin on all day. Even though it's traditional and kind of un-original, it totally made my day.

Hand written letters are good. What we have is a scrap book [[which is actually just a composition notebook from walmart]] where we keep pictures of us in it and things like plane tickets to see each other, little souvenirs from what we did together [[e.g. movie tickets, parts of maps of places we went to, etc.]] and stuff like that. When we are apart, we write letters to each other in it and mail it back and forth. Whenever I get lonely, I look at it and read his letters to me. It's unique.

Send her a gift certificate to a restaurant so she can take a couple of her friend out. Then you haven't only pleased her, but all her friends as well, which will REALLY please her.

I'm not sure if you guys are planning to move closer anytime soon like we are, but what I have always found fun to do is "virtual house shopping." We stay on the phone and look at houses on the internet together. We even have our own wish list at Bed Bath and Beyond where we have compiled all the house furniture, dishes and decorations that we want. We even know the colors for every room of the house we don't even have yet. It's fun to plan for the future together and it's very reassuring.

My heart always jumps every time I get a little text from him during the. What's really special is sometimes he will send me a part of the lyrics from *our* song...

One time we both went for a walk while we were talking on the phone, even though we live 3000 miles away from each other. We were both walking in a park-like setting so it was a great element that added some excitement to the usual phone conversation.

This sounds cheesy, but we have both rented the same movie and watched it together over the phone. We would count to 3 and hit play at the same time so the movie was in sync, then we could laugh and react to all the same parts together. Only do this if you have a good phone plan though...

And finally, just make sure to let her know that she is special just by telling her. Lines like, "I love you so much, I'm the luckiest man in the world to have you..." always get me.

Hope that helps!

why does my mother in law try to get my husbands kids against me?

best christmas gifts of 2011 for women image

lucky

I have been with my fiance for 3 years. Our wedding date is in Nov. 2011. Here's the deal, My husband was married once before and had two children with his ex wife. They have been divorced since 1998 , so that is what?... 13 years divorced.
My fiance told me that AFTER they divorced his own mother informed him that if he was to EVER get back with her She (his mother) would DISOWN him.

My fiances kids are now 20 and 21

The problem is, is that any little fault I may have or anything that my fiance tells his mother about us whether it is good or bad, she will ignore the good of coarse and take the bad to immediately use it as an excuse to call my fiances EX WIFE and report all the details and juicy gossip. Knowing that in time all of it gets repeated to the kids eventually by the EX Wife. They hear ONLY one tainted side of story never even ask to hear MY SIDE or my fiance's side for that matter
To this day I have never met or even talked to his daughter, I met and have talked to his son (which by the way is serving a prison sentence right now for drugs.... nice huh?) and we are on okay terms but he has Definately passed judgement on me based on what my finace's mother and ex wife has said about me. I know this because of things he has told me. It seems that his daughter just has no interest in me, because I feel , she has already condemed me without really knowing me. Yhis REALLY hurts and bothers me!.....I love my fiance SO MUCH and would love to have his children accept me based on THEIR own oppinion of me and NOT SOMEONE ELSES or them NOT being Manipulated by someone else's thoughts or ideas.

The future mother in law has been extremely Nasty to me, I only tried to be there for her. and at one time I really liked her and was excited to go visit her......She is addicted to pain pills and often uses that as an excuse for her bad behavior. She all around is often NOT a PLEASENT person to be around , she can be rude and nasty to everyone. I reaLLY wanted to love her....she hurt me at Christmas time, She called me out on my eating disorder in front of everyone and said, " I should of gotton you a bottle of laxatives and diuretics for a gift, you would of been happy with that right!?"....I was so embarresed and CRUSHED!!!...what prompted her to do that to me?.....I was SO nice to her. It came unexpected, and just her NASTINESS shinning through.

Well my fiance was LIVID!....He stood up to her! and we left. He has NOT been there to see her since and that was christmas of 2009, almost 2 years ago.

So, What does his Mother in law do??? calls his EX WIFE, It is his EX meaning done, over with NOthing is any of her bussiness,( unless it has to do with the kids, then again the kids are adults now and can deal with their father DIRECTLY without going thru the ex wife on MOST matters)
She dumps all this nasty crap about me to the EX WIFE, and she is crying and playing victim that her son walked out on her at Christmas and it was ALL my fault. Did NOT tell the ex what she had actually done to me....the truth. Not that any of this is the EX's business.....so 30 min later the EX and his daughter start blowing up his cell phone. his daughter started going off to her dad about ME, then her dad(my fiance), told his daughter what REALLY happened and who was AT FAULT.

ever since then his ex is calling and visiting her EX MIL all the time....and is friending ALL his family members she can find on Facebook, all of a sudden, she hadn't talked to them for like 13 years sinced they have been divorced

My fiance told his mom to appoligize to me before he thinks about comming around in her life but he told her that It depends on IF she can accept me as being the women He truly loves. and treat me with respect or he told her she would lose him entirely. He also told her to leave the ex out of things ! and to it getting twisted and told to the kids, so they could have a false judgement on me without knowing the other side of the story or even knowing me personally.

She refuses to appoligize!!

Why is she like this????
Why is she doing this??....what could be her MOTIVE or Gain??

Feedback is MUCH appreciated!

Answer
This is all irrelevant and in your head. The mother in law is irrelevant and pointless character in this story. The ex is pointless and irrelevant to this story and the children are grown up and beyond need of improvement. What is relevant to this story is you and your partner. It seems like your parent is on your side and that is what counts. Ignore the rest, if they can't accept you then you eliminate them from the equation until they can behave.

Best of luck.

My Friend's mom has Cancer Just before Christmas!? How do i help?

Katie

My Best Friend Krista's mom has just been Diagnosed with Lung Cancer. Her older sister Stephanie(who is a Senior in High School) is upset and doesn't speak to her friends or her Cheer-leading team (she is captain). But, Krista (who is a Sophomore as am i) is always talking with us and with her boyfriend( of 2 years). Krista is the type of person who just accepts the things God has done and tries to figure out her own way to fix it. Krista and her boyfriend Chris are Captain of the Soccer team so they got together to make a fundraiser to help with Cancer research. They made a soccer clinic at our High School for over winter break to help kids learn soccer skills (which i think is amazing and so does our Principal and their coaches). Christopher's dad passed away earlier on in the year after a 10 year battle with Cancer. Her dad is also helping out (he is great at soccer) as well as her 2 younger brothers and chris's 2 younger brothers (who are the same age as Krista's and who love soccer as well) Our whole Community loves Krista and her family, but we are confused on how to help Krista and her family during the Holiday season while she is helping out us? our friends want to get her a awesome christmas present but still don't know what? How do we help out Krista, Her wonderful parents and Older sister and 2 younger brothers (one who is in 8th grade one who is in 3rd grade)? Also do you think it is a good idea for our gaelic football team (chris's and krista's) to also raise money?

Answer
I would give your friend a copy of this video and ask them to look at it before agreeing to any treatments offered by modern mainstream medicine today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fduMpYhv1_M&feature=related

Knowing that lung cancer, colon cancer, and breast cancer is NOT helped by ANY chemotherapy, I would tell her to be very aware of any doctors or anyone recommending that treatment. I would suggest she look at alternative medicine as the answer. To get a perspective on the real data numbers of how ineffective mainstream medicine is regarding CANCER, go to this website and look at this study that shows only 2.1% of people that get chemotherapy for most common cancers (lung cancer included) live longer than 5 years.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15630849

Now realize that people who opt not to get chemotherapy generally live longer. That information would be the best Christmas gift I can imagine you could do for her.

Another video that would be good for her to see, but not related to tumors or cancer, but shows a woman who did her homework and cured her multiple sclerosis with food and supplements, after the medical people gave up.

How can I help my mum straighten up?

best christmas gifts kids 2012
on ... Max: Best Toys For Kids With Special Needs: Holiday Gift Guide 2012
best christmas gifts kids 2012 image

Winsop

I certainly hope that I don't sound like an annoyingly angsty teen, because while I am a teen, I don't consider myself anguished in any way. On to the point. Well, my mum needs to straighten up. I absolutely understand that many parents have economic problems over them every day and perhaps kids (I have two brothers), but I feel that it shouldn't deter someone from being correct towards someone.
Now, there's a huge difference between my brothers and I. My older brother and I are well-educated and we know how to respect. My younger brother (He's 12, mind you. However, this isn't the reason for what I'm about to say) is horrible in school. He gets into trouble every day and is awfully disrespectful towards us. In fact, the little bugger got detention a few weeks ago for disrespecting a teacher.
At this point, I hope, any mother would have punished their child if they did something like that. Perhaps grounding them without television, or putting them to study for a long time? At least a serious talk? Well, not with my mum. Technically she did "punish" him by telling him that he couldn't watch television and that he had to complete all of his homework (which he should have been doing in the first place), but mum never enforces these rules. She's like a lawman who sets down the law without actually enforcing it.
The kid's not getting disciplined! The very next weekend, when he asks mum if he could go skating with his friends, she lets him go! Every. Bloody. Time. In fact, I tried confronting her about her lack of discipline, because he was turning into a freaking delinquent! Mum just avoids the question or makes an excuse like: "It was special. His friend was moving out tomorrow."

Now, here is where I might sound a bit bratty, but I've had enough. As said earlier, my younger brother has no respect for anything, humans animals and things alike. A few months ago, my mum comes up to me and asks me to let him use my PS3...Excuse me? You want me to let that disrespecting, arrogant, break-everything kid use a PS3 and the games that I bought with my own money? I told her, strictly, no. Mum lost it. I understand the rant she gave me about being unfair and how I should share, but I believe I had a perfectly good reason. A few weeks earlier, he busted my Gamecube and a few games that now-a-days, you have to pay up to $70.00 to find again because they are no longer sold in Gamestop.
Anyways, after a long argument with mum, I had to surrender my PS3 and the games. I was infuriated, especially because I had gotten that system as a gift for Christmas years earlier. And that mum OFFICIALLY GAVE MY BLOODY CHRISTMAS PRESENT AND ALL MY GAMES TO HIM.

So, my younger brother disrespects a teacher and gets no punishment. However, I clearly answer her question of "May Alex use the PS3?" with a well-backed up no, and my entire system gets robbed from me. I mean...if you were going to force me to let him use it, why bloody ask me in the first place?

Answer
Your mother is lacking personal boundaries for herself and with her kids, especially your. Go on-line and look up personal boundaries and talk to your mother about them Here is one site to get you started; http://www.positivelypositive.com/2012/06/29/how-to-create-healthy-boundaries/.

I live in Texas, the father lives in Indiana our divorce was final in Indiana.?

iluvmeyebo

I was granted full custody and he has visitation rights and child support obligations. He is currently behind in child support, has never sent gifts for birthdays or christmas and only saw them 16 hours in the year 2012(travel expenses all mine, even though according to our decree he is to meet me in Arkansas for the exchange of the boys). I have lived in Texas(granted by the courts and recommended by GAL) since July 2011, so first question: Does Texas now have jurisdiction over my children? and second: Is the lack of motivation to see his children in the past 19 months give me grounds to terminate his parental rights so my husband may adopt them?

As for why I feel it would be in the best interest of the child; he consistently disappoints my children by refusing to pick them up for visitation, he is now married to a known publicly recorded methadone patient, both he and his wife TRY to stir up drama in my household just for spite. I had an abusive marriage, I left for good reason but I have always been more than fair with the boys up to and including providing food, rental assistance, phone payments, and car insurance to enable him to have a relationship with our sons. I truly can't believe the man he became and how little of a father he is. I would never cut him out completely, if he said he was available to visit with them in Texas I would allow it, I would still allow phone calls. What would be different is: him no longer paying support or in his case racking up an arrearage, I could enroll my children in summer programs that I currently do not due to never knowing IF he will want to have his visitation of 7 weeks, I would not fear him gaining custody of the boys in the event of my untimely death, as well as he and his wife's motivation to cause drama should end, considering it centers around child support and visitation.

Really torn about this, please no negative mean comments. If you are totally opposed simply be nice and state why. Thank You:)

Answer
Texas can have jurisdiction if you motion the court to transfer the case to Texas. No, he still has to sign over his rights in order for the adoption to take place. Next time he is supposed to visit the kids, show up in Arkansas and wait for him. Do something fun while you're there, and make sure you take pics with the kids. Treat it as a vacation and if he shows up, hand the kids over. If he doesn't, go home with them.

What are some unique, easy and fun games to play at a Bachelorette Party?

Answer
Thank You For The Great Question.

Bachelorette parties thrive off of really fun, really active games. Setup the wrong game and the bachelorette party becomes an afterthought of conversation. Setup the right games and the party becomes animated, loud, fun, and most of all memorable.

You can essentially break the set of games into two categories, being dirty & clean (In the figurative sense).

I have a couple of ideas for each, but if these arenât doing it for you, I would suggest you pick up the bestelling guide, Ladies Night Out
( http://www.sextoysshipped.com/books/ladies_night_out.html )

It Is a 104 page blueprint to the perfect bachelorette party.

Fairly Clean Game:

"I Neverâ¦"

All the guests sit in a circle or around a table. Each person will read a phrase starting with "I never". Anyone who has done this fiendish act must drink. The innocent women do not have to drink.

Here is an example: The Bachelorette says "I never kissed a man over 40 years old". This is followed by most of the moms in the crowd drinking.

Here is a list of "I nevers" to get you started. The game works even better if you make your own list.

"I never..."

o Cheated on a boyfriend
o Went skinny-dipping
o Have seen a male stripper (you might want to play this game early in the evening).
o Lied about my age.
o Lied about my weight.
o Lied about my height
o Stuffed my bra.
o Used food in the bedroom.
o Did a striptease for my steady.
o Had a striptease done for me.
o Had a one nigh stand.
o Used a sex toy.
o Wore a skirt without underwear.

More Risquee Game:

Pass The Vibrator:
This is a mix of musical chairs and hot potato but with a vibrator. Have everyone sit in a circle and close enough so they can pass the vibrator. Now turn on the vibrator and tell your guest that they must pass the vibrator while the music play and when the music stops the person holding the vibrator is out.

Continue this process until you have one winner. Give them a prize or the vibrator as a gift.

Well, I sure hope Iâve helped, and if not, look into picking up a guide which is full of the best ideas anywhere.

Thanks again for your great question

I need ideas on throwing a fun Bridal shower?

The Jessic

I am going to be the host of a bridal shower this year. Personally, I have been to about three total in my life. I was wondering if anyone had some fresh and fun ideas for throwing a really great bridal shower.

I know a large majority of people hate playing the same old shower games (I love them, but I'm a dork like that!), so some fun game ideas would be appreciated also.

Thanks!

Answer
This past summer I was the MOH in my best friends wedding, I threw her a shower and actually not only got a thank you note from the bride, and both mothers, but I got thank yous from the guests as well.

Here was my game plan

1. Get a scrap book and have a polaroid camera. Take pictures of everyone as they come in and tape each picture to a page have each person write a note to the bride. 1 per page. Its a great memory book for the bride

2. Get some photos of the bride and groom together and blow them up to 8x10, go to the 99 cent shop and get some frames that match and put the photos out on a table, preferably with the cake and a nice bouquet of flowers. This allows people who dont know either the bride or groom well to see them together

3. Games: Have a timer and set it for 10 minutes during the girt opening. Each time it goes off the person who's gift she is opening gets a prize (dollar store prizes are the best, recipe cards, candles, photo albums etc)

Have a complete the pharse questionaire to be filled out by each guest, give the same questionaire to the bride and have her fill it out before hand. See how many of the guests answers match the brides Examples Flower ______, Brides ______, Holy______

4. Get centerpieces/bouquets from the grocery store florist. They will be beautiful and CHEAP.

5. Toasts: Make it a really good one. Write about your most favorite memory with the bride. Mine was about the night before my wedding when I let my BF the bride cut my hair, it had people rolling it was so funny, but it tied in really nicely that the whole point of the story was how wonderful a friend she was that I would LET her cut my hair the night before my wedding.

6. Favors: Go to www.wrappedhersheys.com and get WRAPPERS ONLY for hershey bars. They cost 99 cents each if you dont choose a photo one. Then go to your local wholesale club and buy a box and wrap the candy bars yourself. I did this all by myself and was able to wrap all 40 bars in under an hour. (note: Invest in a glue stick)

Most importantly, it isnt the moey you spend, believe me because I dont have alot and I pretty much funded the whole event on my own. Its the personal touches you make. Get creative but most of all make the shower your way to show everyone how much you love your friend. Make your appreciation for her shine through in every aspect of the day.

Have a great time and Good luck!

ETA:I forgot the best part of the day. AFter all the gifts were opened we played the "Old New Borrowed and Blue" game. Have her fiance purchase her a gift, usually jewelry, and wrap it up 5 times. With each layer put a tag saying who should open it, the first being a woman wearing something old, then new, then borrowed then blue, the last layer is to be opened by the woman who will soon be needing something old, new, borrowed and blue ie the bride and it will be a wonderful gift from her furture husband.

What are some good ideas for stocking stuffers and Christmas decorations?

Laura

This is the first Christmas my husband and I are having together and I haven't decorated for Christmas for as long as I can remember. My family never really decorated after my parents got divorced and I never helped before then because I was too young.

My husband and I are decorating this year though, and other than the tree and lights, I really can't think of any other good ideas. I know he will have a few, but I want as many ideas as I can get.

Also what are some good ideas for things to put in stockings, because I want to do that this year too and I've never had one before. It's just me and my husband and our cat. No children.

Any ideas you have would be helpful. Thanks.

Answer
Depends on your budget...

We're having our first family Christmas since my father died (August), so we're thinking about having Christmas at my house instead of my mother's.

For us, the real memories come with the traditions and the handmade things...I've embroidered stockings for everyone in the family, my mother made the tree skirts we use...we still put up the little silver aluminum tree my grandmother bought for $1.98 in the early 1960's...and every "after Christmas" we go to the Hallmark store and buy 1 ornament for each of the kids (I usually get one or two for myself).

The best part is for you and hubby and kitty to go shopping together (try a pet store that allows pets to come in!). Think outside the box - how about one of those cool cat climbing/nesting things that are tall - you could hide kitty treats in it and new kitty toys...and decorate the climber with garland and unbreakable Christmas balls (kitty will love playing with them!).

Whatever you want in your stockings - you could be risque and go to an adult store and get all sorts of interesting things...or you could hint to hubby that you want lots of sparkly things, like earrings and so forth, in yours....cologne, aftershave, soaps...or be a kid, and buy silly stuff, like a slinky, silly putty, yoyos, whoopie cushions, wind up toys or race cars, kalidescopes, tops, jacks....gift certificates to a day spa....cheesy little pocket books that they display on the checkout counter of the bookstores at Christmastime...candy, fruit, nuts....mice (for the kitty)...basically, anything you run across that will fit in the stocking!

Other decorations than tree and lights....

Well, one year, my aunt did a tree for each room in her house, with a different theme...another year she did the whole house in teddy bears...

there's the requisite wreath for the front door (back door optional), a seasons greetings welcome mat, some jingle bells for the doorknobs....

Outdoor decorations - just go to WalMart and look! Animated reindeer, spiral light trees, nativity scenes, giant blow up snow globes and santas and grinches and snowmen

indoors, fix the guest bath up with seasonal towels, soap and lotion dispensers, tissue boxes, and Christmas scented air fresheners or candles

for the formal dining table - mix crystal and silver pieces with fresh cut or silk greenery and use lots of candles and throw in some pretty ribbons and bows

Get a copy of Martha Stewart Living for December for some great ideas...even previous year's issues....or go online to marthastewart.com

Try some of the other home decorating and women's magazines as well, like Better Homes and Gardens, Ladies Home Journal, Real Simple, Architectural Digest

Another great place to shop for Christmas items - your local pool and patio store - for Christmas, they usually restock the entire shop in indoor and outdoor decorations!

And don't forget the Advent Calendar!!!

Have a very Merry Christmas and I hope you have many, many more!!

What is a good gift to get my son after his surgery next week?

Traci J

He is five years old and having a tonsillectomy, an adenoidectomy, and ear tubes. I want to get him something special. Any good websites or ideas will be much appreciated. Also, can anyone tell me what to expect after these surgeries?

Answer
I had my tonsils and adnoids out at the age of 25-it hurt for about 24 hours. After that I felt fine-I went out to dinner the night I got home. I have talked to lots of moms whose kids have had this done and it seems the same-24 hours bad, next 12-24 is like a mild sore throat and then back to normal. My son had ear tubes put in back in July a week before he turned 1. He was sleepy and fussy after surgery for about 4-5 hours. We got home and he walked to his toys (he had not been able to walk long distances prior to the surgery). He was his normal self that afternoon and was cleared to return to day care the next day-the tubes are out patient surgery takes 1/2 a day tops. I stayed home with him for 2 days but he was fine and could have gone back to his regular routine the same day as surgery. But your a mom-no matter what anyone says you will be worried about him.

I would get him a "lovey" (soft stuffed toy) that you give him before the surgery. Carry the lovey with you for a few days (even better, stick it in your bed under the covers for a few days so it smells like home). When you give it to him, tell him it is his special friend for the hospital to keep him company. You can talk about the lovey saying things like "lovey might be a little scared about staying in a big place, what do you think" you can get him to open up and tell you how he feels by telling you what he think lovey feels. But end these talks by telling lovey it will be okay and he will be safe and give him a hug-then tell your son the same thing. He will remember that while he is in the hospital and it will make him feel better. And of course lots of hugs and kisses! Hope that all goes well!

Kimberly

I was invited to a co-workers bridal shower. There are only about 4 co workers that were invited the rest will be her friends and family. It is a late morning event from 11am-2pm and they will be serving us brunch at a restaurant. I'm not really sure what I should get her for a bridal shower gift since I don't know her all that well. I am not going to the wedding as it is a destination wedding. If I choose to give a card with money, what is an appropriate amount? Any other ideas?

Answer
Find out where she is registered. The Knot has a feature to Find a Registry, try that or ask your co-workers. You can give a gift in any amount you are comfortable with.

Good luck!

I'm basically looking for images based on the theme of personalised learning and mentoring. General ideas include, a child with sparks coming from his hands with books, certificates, awards, money. A group of students being mentored.

These are for a learning centre for year 11's. Ideally they would be royalty free. But any help would really benefit me. I've scoured everywhere and don't seem to find anything that 'fits the bill'.

Thank you all in advance.

What should I crochet my boyfriend for Christmas?

Jeanette T

I want to make him a homemade gift, along with some other things. He doesn't wear hat's and he doesn't wear scarves. Gloves are probably a no too. I was thinking a blanket, but a little unsure of that too. What do you think? Any ideas?

Answer
An afghan is a good idea. I've either knit or crocheted afghans for several of the guys in my family, and they all appreciated them. If he's particularly attached to his school, using school colors might be appropriate. Otherwise, his favorite color is always a safe bet.

What about a crocheted necktie? Like this one, maybe: http://www.knitting-crochet.com/crochet/crotie.html or this squared-off one: http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/huggems/tie.html . Or a bow tie, like this one: http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2009/06/how-to_crocheted_bow_tie.html

Unless y'all are in an area of the country that's never cold, fingerless gloves might be appreciated. These http://iamtotallyobsessedwithyarn.blogspot.com/2010/09/holy-crap-i-wrote-pattern.html and http://www.crochetspot.com/fingerless-gloves-for-men/ are very plain and guy-like. If he rides a motorcycle, stitching a pad of suede in the palm area might be a good idea.

And then there are coozies/koozies/cosies - those insulating sleeves that keep your hand from warming your soda or beer or keep your coffee cup from burning your hand. http://www.crochetspot.com/crochet-plastic-bags-plarn-can-cozy/ and http://www.crochetspot.com/crochet-pattern-absolutely-easy-coffee-cup-sleeve/

You didn't say how old y'all are. If you're on the young side, the coozie/cosy idea might be the way to go. Make sets in your school colors and/or stitch the school emblem on. Or make them in the colors of the sports teams he favors.

Is it inappropriate to buy a teacher a retirement gift?

One of my teachers is retiring at the end of this term. I was new at this high school last year, but I've had her for three terms which is more than I've had any other teacher. I want to buy her some sort of small retirement gift (I have no idea what yet), but is that appropriate? She goes to my church, too, so I know her outside of school.

Answer
Nothing wrong with that. I'm sure she would appreciate it, especially with a nice hand-written card.

Any ideas for a retirement gift for a musician?

Mithril Ka

A co-worker is retiring in a month. We are in a non-musical related field. However, music is her first passion and in her retirement years, she is looking forward to getting back in touch with the music aspect of her life. She's a brilliant piano player and has a master's degree in pipe organ performance. Any suggestions on a retirement gift that some other fellow co-workers and I could get for her? I thought it would be good for the gift to be music related since she's looking forward to re-engaging with something she's held off for awhile.

Answer
flowers and a music book

2 can anyone give me some unique birthday gift ideas for me and my son. Both of our birthdays is August 11 and he will be turning 6 and I will be 33. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to all in advance.

Answer
It ranges from zero to 100. Obviously if you have sex on your birthday, you can't have a baby that day next year--you'd give birth three months earlier. Second, if you really wanted your kid to have his birthday on a specific day, have a c-section.

What do you get them and how much you spend on daycare kids for their birthdays and christmas?

snickers

I have just opened up my daycare and I want to know what to get daycare kids as gifts. How much money should one daycare provider spend on a child for their birthday or christmas gift. Any ideas would be great thanks,

Answer
I am a daycare provider ans I usually spend about $10.00 for birthdays and Christmas. Sometimes less if it's something the child will really like. I also spend about that much on the child's parents. Last year I took some really great pictures of the kids and then bought pretty frames and gave that to the parents....they love it.
Anyway, don't forget that a certain amount (I think up to like $20) is tax deductible for gifts given to your clients.

What to get long distance boyfriend of 2 years?

best gift ideas for long distance boyfriend
on 300px BigPinkHeart Best Gift Ideas For Long Distance Relationships
best gift ideas for long distance boyfriend image

Brittany

My anniversary with my boyfriend of almost 2 years is coming up soon, and I was just wondering if anyone had any really good ideas! He's not really into sports; he's all about music. His favorite bands are The Gorillaz and Bring Me The Horizon. He is a gamer, and also really likes anime... Also, I'm kind of on a really tight budget. I really want this to be a romantic/cute gift for him, but i'm willing to hear anything you guys have to suggest! I've already done the whole build-a-bear thing for him last year, and made "To Infinity" "And Beyond" bracelets, by the way.
And I'm being serious. We're in a long distance relationship so answers like "sex" are not what I'm looking for.

Answer
lol, I "lold" at answers like "sex"

Well long distance relationships are becoming quite common and so are new ways to interact with the ones we love who are far away.

If he's a gamer maybe getting him a game that the both of you can play would suffice. If he also really likes anime, I'd reccommend getting these really neat keys custom keys made from KeypersCove.

Here's their etsy
http://www.etsy.com/shop/KeypersCove

I actually found that idea on LDR-Aww.com

But yea if he's into anime, something like that with maybe your initials on them would be nice. Their prices are really good, but if you want something a bit more custom, you'll have to pay a bit extra.

Hope this helps!

What going away gift should I give my boyfriend?

Syrup!!!

I have a long distance boyfriend and just recently he gave me a shirt of his to keep with me while he's away. Well I wanted to give him something too. Just something that he can keep with him and think of me when he sees it. I wanted to give him a necklace, but he already has one that he wears everyday.
I'm not very crafty, so the idea of a little scrapbook or handmade item probably wouldn't work very well.
All answers are appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Answer
It's funny that you say that... my long distance boyfriend gave me one of his shirts. Since it was near his birthday, and I always tease him for being 2 years older than me, I sent him a cane with a built in taser. I made him wait to open it on skype. haha His reaction was priceless. Get him something very personal like that. Something only you would give him (not a gift card for starbucks etc.). Maybe buy him something silly or related to an inside joke.
