19 Month Old Preemie...Easter gift ideas??

Mom of One

Yep, I'm one of those Mom's that wants to get the next holiday done right after the previous one (Heart's Day). Does anyone have any good gift ideas for a 19 month old. She's delayed though and is around 12 months developmentally. She doesn't need anymore toys! So far I have a Pooh Easter board book, some bubbles, and a little chick that chirps. Any other ideas? She doesn't quite grasp the concept of coloring so coloring books and sidewalk chalk are out. Thanks for your thoughts!

Serious answers only please!!

Answer
I'm thinking books is always a good way to go. I know what you mean about not needing any more toys though! Books, bubbles, those little wind-ups toys...sounds like you've thought of everything I can. =P

A cute outfit and the Easter basket with the stuff you mentioned will be plenty enough, in my opinion. You could get her those little plastic eggs and put some little toys or treats in them for her to crack open and "find"...kids love that kind of stuff.

Have fun!

Help with gift ideas!?

I got invited to a friend's surprise bridal shower, and the theme is "Around the Clock", where each guest has been given a time frame for which they are to give a pertaining present. The time frame that I got is 7pm - 10pm. I want to make a basket of gifts, with 3-5 items, can you give me ideas for gifts for a bride-to-be for this time frame?

The bridal shower is 10 days from today. Thanks!!

What are some unique and great gifts to give to a couple's 30th wedding anniversary?

Suki

OKAY, I need some urgent answers here. My aunt and uncle's surprise 30th anniversary party is coming up soon; July 11, 2012 to be exact. I live with my boyfriend and we are just wondering what we should give to them as a good gift that will make them both feel pleased and appreciated; we're not rich by any means since our limit is about $150. I do know that the traditional gift present for a 30th wedding anniversary is pearl, but we're confused to what present we should opt to give to them.

THANKS IN ADVANCED! :)

Answer
The 30th anniversary color is green. so you can go in any direction there. Money is green.

I bought my grandparents parents a ruby candy bowl for their 40th, a silver plated casserole for their 25th. I went decorative the one year, and functional the next.

So a piece of Fenton glass like a candy dish, or something big for the dining room table, or even a pair of candlesticks would be nice. Maybe a piece of jade for a paperweight, or some carved jade. Lots of emerald green decorative items out there.
Try Hallmark for ideas.

Pearl, as in pearl handled letter opener, or something mother of pearl, like a keepsake box.
My cake cutting set is pearl handled.
I saw a mother of pearl photo album.

There are also collectors plates, and framed anniversary poems available .
Get a newspaper from the year they were married.

Or, give them the money. Or a token gift, and the money.

Also try Lenox, they specialize in collectibles.

What is the name of that store at the mall? Things Remembered! Try there for something sentimental, they have an online store, too.

Are they gardeners? Lillies are the 30th anniversary flower. It does not say what kind. How about some lilly bulbs? Those catalogues that sell seeds and bulbs let you order anytime, but send the item when it is due to be planted.

And if you know, or someone knows what their favorite restaurant is, a gift card for there would be fine.

First year anniversary?

Gift ideas for a 5 year old boy?

Kate

My son, Noah's birthday is coming up, and I just cannot think of anything to get him. I have been to numerous stores, searching for his "big present," and then I buy him a bunch of little things. A "big thing," would be something that costs less than about $300. And the small stuff I just get from the dollar tree. He likes cars and trucks, and stuff like that. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!

In her stocking she is getting Gerber Puff snacks, a new toddler straw cup, CD with children's songs, and a mini Disney Princess doll. What are good gift ideas for a 4 year old boy?

marie c

I wanted to get him a 3-wheeler for his birthday, but he will not get much use out of it being winter is almost here. I need some ideas on a good fall/winter b-day present for a 4 year old boy no more than $50.

Answer
Arts and crafts items are great for keeping young boys occupied indoors (without them being glued to a tv or computer screen). Try washable markers with a superhero cartoon coloring book, or a themed play-doh kit (like the Backyardigan's pirate ship - or even play-doh by itself), a water-color book, construction paper and glue... this list is endless. You could create a gift bag full of an assortment of these items for not a lot of $. Boys that age really love to create, explore, imagine, and then admire their handiwork!

Big Bridal Shower and Wedding Gift Ideas???

Elizabeth

I'm getting married soon and I have people telling me they want "big gift ideas". One is for my bridal shower and the other is for the wedding. What do I ask for? I have basically everything I need to start an apartment. I'm trying to think of heirloom quality goods that my DH and I will use them as well as pass them on to our kids. Any ideas?

Btw, we don't drink so wine glasses are out. The only big ticket items that are left are a couch and dining room chairs but I don't want to ask for that.

Answer
But thats what they really want to know is stuff like that! For example if you have picked out a dining room set and it is at furniture store that has gift cards--they would prefer to get you a gift card for something you really want than at a store that you only want little kitchen items at.

We put a down comforter on ours (about 200 dollars) that we used our giftcards for. Do you have a kitchenaid? That is often a big ticket item. If there is a really nice vase that you want, or a large piece of art, a lot of brides put matching luggage sets.

Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn are both excellent places since you could just put on there a futon, or a large bookshelf (we put this one on ours and it inspired a relative to get the measurements and build it for us)
http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=991&f=6843&q=puzzle+bookshelf&fromLocation=Search&DIMID=400001&SearchPage=1

Or outdoor furniture, like adirondack chairs. A coffee table. It's more for those who are getting you a gift card--they like to feel it was actually a contribution to the coffee table.

People just want an idea of what you hope your living room looks like as most of them aren't going to be able to see your house. Or groups like to get together and get you one big gift or large gift card, instead of a bunch of 10-20 dollar ones.

It also helps with thank you notes. You can write to everyone who gave you a gift card that you used it to get "the bedroom set from our registry."

It's not greedy or that you think someone will actually get you a couch. But they'd hate to get you a really large gift card to Pottery Barn, and find out that the couch you really wanted was from Crate and Barrel and if they'd bought the gift card from there instead, you could have used it for something you really wanted.

Congratulations on the wedding btw.

Wedding shower ideas?

mamacita62

My maid of honor is throwing me a combined shower with both me and my fiance's sides of the familes (the ladies on each side) and then my bridesmaids will also be there. She wants me to think of anything themes or ideas I would like. Does anyone have any creative games, themes or ideas for bridal showers?

Answer
Around the Clock (Where hostesses assign times on the invitations; and guests bring gifts associated with that time of day, i.e. 8am - bath towels, 12pm - everyday place setting, 8pm - wine glasses. The gifts are opened from "morning to evening" order or opened and the bride guesses what time of day the gift giver was assigned. Then displayed with their time for all to admire.)

Around the House Similar to the Around the Clock, but assign a room to each guests; this assures the bride receives items for the whole house)

Naughty or Nice (Guests can decide to get you something naughty or nice - depends on how close you are to your families)

Christmas theme (Guests buy any Christmas/Seasonal items, or I have a friend whose parents gave the couple a Christmas tree, and the guest brought ornaments to hang and decorate their tree. This was at the beginning of Dec.)

Kitchen shower (Any and all things kitchen related - from kitchen towels to cookware to formal china.)

Gift Basket shower (Guests bring a gift basket of their choosing - may lead to random odd n' ends vs. china/flatware/etc.)

Recipe Shower (Guest receive a recipe card with their invitation, and share a special recipe with you at the shower. Then buy a gift that is used to make the recipe, i.e. wok, mixing bowl, blender, etc. You could even go as far as letting the guest make the recipe; however, this may turn some off as viewed as a "pot-luck shower" as getting a gift is usually time-consuming itself. Personal preference.)

Stock the Pantry a/k/a Pounding Party: (usually held pretty close to the wedding. Guests bring spices, seasonings, flour, can goods, even canisters, things that brides normally don't receive - ideal for the bride or groom who don't already live together, or have these items already.)

Hope you find some of these ideas helpful! Good Luck!

I need a graduation/parting gift idea?

Cynnie

Okay, graduating this year is a girl who's really tough to buy for. She's going to the United States Naval Academy next year, is very masculine in dress and style, and I have no idea what to get her. any ideas?

Answer
Gift cards are always great, because they let who you're buying them for decide what they want! I would say that fifty bucks should do for how much to give her. As for what place to get the giftcard for I would suggest any that you hear/see her buying clothes/necessities from on a regular basis.

What are unique gift ideas for boyfriends graduation?

xoxoamyxox

My sister is stuck on what to get her boyfriend for graduation... any ideas???
he spent like 150 on her

Answer
A unique graduation gift should be into the two of the following requirements : the graduate will only receive one of these unique graduation gifts and this unique graduation gift will be useful and practical in their new lifestyle. This way they will remember who gave them this unique graduation gift. Great suggestion for your sister are a set of plates, towels, spices, recipe books, a great cd, a framed picture of your sister and her boyfriend, or an alarm clock (for those early mornings). Your sister can always add her personal touch to make the gift looks perfect and unique. Good luck to your sister!

gift idea?????

Q. k for work we have this secret santa thing and i got this kid that's really into baseball. thats all i know about him really haha. he likes food um yeah so we can't spend more than 10$ and i can't ask him what he wants cause it's secret haha so if you could give me some ideas that'd be just great!! thanks :)

Answer
Maybe you could find out from his friends or ask one of your friends to find out what else he likes.

Some ideas would be a baseball hat or shirt. You could always buy him a $10 gift card for a sports store or restaurant.

Hope that helps!

Thank you or Gift Ideas?

melitys

My son was recently in the hospital and the folks at work took up a collection for him. There are about 74 people that work in the office and my son is only one year old. I am looking for a way to thank them. I don't want to be generic and buy a regular thank you card. I would like to do something else...any ideas? That are not too complicated???

Answer
Thank you for putting up such a great post. It's awesome to hear about the generosity of wonderful people in you and your son's life, and you wanting to be show your gratitude as best you can.

Naturally, with 74 people to thank, nobody would begrudge you if you gave out standard thank you cards. Some other ideas:
⢠Bake or buy cookies or bring in pizza or other snacks with flowers for the break-room.
⢠Does your office need a small appliance like a microwave or new coffee maker? An air purifier for the breakroom or a mini-fridge for common areas? It might make a nice thank you gift.
⢠The "lifesaver" thank you is always a hit. You use the standard thank you card, but you go to Costco or Target and buy those bulk lifesavers and your tape it to each thank you with the words "you're a lifesaver" on it.
⢠Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper or and thanking everybody and then frame it. Your boss may thank you for the free publicity if it gets in print. If you'd like, I'll post your personal letter of thanks to your everybody at your company on my website, (contact me via my website page referenced below) and you can inaugurate the page this question inspired me to put up. "Acts of Gratitude around the world." I'll post a picture and help you write it, if you like. (We get over 9,000 visitors a month and counting).

No matter what you do, any kind of thank you will be perfect. Thanks for posting this. You're story is very inspiring.

Gratefully yours,
Christy Murphy

Hostess gift suggestions?

skayrkroh

I need a hostsess gift for a gal and her husband who have everything- a wine cellar, I drink mine from a box... we've been friends a long time, but just hooked back up. Any ideas? Thanks.
I have very little money. I am quite creative though. They don't do plants, animals, they have a lovely home and it's furnished in antiques. They are both health conscious... candy is probably out.. only unscented candles, they are Civil War buffs, she's a geek and he's well, he's political... thanks for your suggestions-- er, answers.

Answer
OK -- lets see - first off no one has everything - there is always something - you have giving very little details on what the host and hostess like other than wine - so I guess I can go from there- there are charms for wine glasses and wine glasses you can give - if you know your hosts favorite liqueur you can bring that for him -- you haven't listed a price range for the gifts -- how much do you intend to spend-- other ideas are are favorite flowers delivered earlier that day and cordials with glassware. Box of hostess favorite candies , candles and holders, there is more but you really haven't given too much to go on. I hope I was helpful

Coworker is quitting this week and she was my best friend, my mentor and like my sister too. We worked together for almost eight years. We traveled a lot together and done lots of things like sisters do and now she is leaving this week and i just don't know what to give her. I know we'll keep in touch but work weâll never be the same with out her in the office. The day she told me she was quitting, we both couldn't stop crying for hours and even talking about is making my eye filled with water so please please help me out finding a perfect gift that say everything i want to say before she leave.
Thank y all very much for taking the time to help
Iza

Answer
first off, i would take a collection from all coworkers, and get a cake, and go out for a farewell lunch if you are in a office setting.
Then with the rest of the money that is left, either get a gift card or a nice piece of jewelry.
That is what we always do for people who are leaving.

HELP!!!ITS CHRISTMAS EVE AND I HAVE NO GIFTS FOR MY KIDS!!!!!!!?

Nory

OMG IT'S DECEMBER 24, 11:34 PM IN HARRISBURG, VIRGINIA AND I FORGOT TO BUY PRESENTS FOR MY KIDS!!!!! I HAVE 2 BOYS AND I COMPLETELY FORGOT TO GET PRESENTS!!!! WHAT SHOULD I DO? THE ONLY PLACE OPEN IS LIKE MCDONALDS AND WALMART!!!

Merry Christmas to all u smawrt parents :(

Answer
Get into rehab that is the best gift you can give your family because it's not even December yet and even though you think Wal-Mart is beneath you it's not as long as you can get toys for your kids. Also here's a newsflash if you haven't seen the commercials...you can put their toys in layaway so that you can pay them off little by little and keep them hidden until you have to get them out which is probably going to be december 20th.

Gift Ideas?

Jessie j

I have a birthday, an anniversary on thanksgiving, and chirstmas comming up. Does anyone have any good gift ideas?

Answer
We'll, you've certainly got a lot on your plate there. For the birthday, it always matters what kind of person we're talking about. Your spouse/girlfriend - see below, regarding everyone else, best way to start is to consider any personal interests of him/her you know about for a moment.

People always consider those gifts most valuable that they didn't even know they wanted, but are related to something that they are passionate about. Things that scream "I'm thoughtful".
The second best thing is something that made you think about that person, or relates to the personality of that person in any other way.

This is of course a little hard to find out if you don't have that much inside in the persons everyday life, so here are a few more general ideas you can always consider:
a) Books are a good place to start, as long as the person actually reads (ok, that's an obvious one).
b) DVD's and other media also provide an entertaining experience, and the person you give them to can even share the experience with you.
c) Gift Certificates are a good choice, if you're a little creative and know the person well enough, you have nearly unlimited options on what to provide a gift certificate for. You can even go as far as organize a full day trip that way. This is of course most appropriate for good friends, your girlfriend or your parents. Buy-able vouchers for things like indoor climbing, trips to the cinema, a circus or a theater play also make very good gifts.

Girlfriend/Spouse specialties

With girlfriends, jewelery never wears off as gift. It's rarely used anymore, especially nowadays where people are always in a hurry and don't believe in there own ability anymore to choose something his or her partner would like.

It's easier then finding perfumes, for example.

Actually, jewelery and gems are one of the easiest gifts, because you just have to go shopping with her a few weeks before the actual event and keep taking your time in places and shops where she can check out the display. All you have to do is pay close attention to what she keeps looking at, and you'll have more options than you need for her quicker than you can imagine.

The best way to shop for jewelery, however, especially if you've got a limited budget, don't have much time, no Ideas what to get her at all or mixture of all of the above, is to start looking within online jewelery stores. This page should provide you with a good list for startes, which covers shops from all pricing ranges:

Adventure gifts are generally extraordinarily well received as well, that's why I included two links below. But they are also a tad more expensive.

If you need more detailed tips, be a little more specific on the persons you need the gifts for, and maybe also the age range for the respective persons.

Best regards,
Thorsten

Gifts for ideas friends?

Fragile Il

I still need to get my 6 best friends christmas presents, and I really don't know what to get them. Five of them are 15 year old girls, and the other is a 16 year old boy.
I've not got much to spend, only £20, £30 at the max.
I've looked at other questions and they all suggest pictures, but I've not got many pictures of us, so that's not really something plausible.
Can you give me some ideas please? And what have you gotten people this year?

*I live in the UK so can you not give American sites and shops as ideas please.

Answer
Okay, lets see.

You could get the girls gift cards to their favorite stores, or you could shop with them! Or, you could buy them cute articles of clothing such as...

Purses
Shoes
Cute Turtlenecks
Skirts (jeans)

or an outfit with all of those :)

And for a guy, IDK, I am a girl, so i don't know what he likes. Maybe a skateboard?
Oh, and also, if you don't want to get whoever what I suggested, you could make a little basket or buy a little basket (IDK if 5 below is in the UK but they have them there). You can also find them at a movie store. Anyway, you could put microwave popcorn, movie tickets, candy, sodas, etc. In there. Anythning to enjoy a movie. I especially reccommend Movie Tickets. That is a great gift.

One more idea is maybe Christmas Ornaments. Get in the holiday spirit! You can also make a joke of it by adding in an elf costume or a santa hat.

If you don't like any of my ideas, or you really want to buy a teenage girl or your guy friend clothes... visit this URL http://www.allthingschristmas.com/xmas-gifts.php

Good luck and I hope you have a very merry Christmas!

What are some Bat Mitzvah gift ideas for my friend?

anonymous

I met her about 8 months ago but we've gotten to be really great friends-we joke around a whole lot and have a great time together..what would be an appropriate gift? I don't want it to be too serious, but of course, I want it to be appropriate for the occasion. I'm good at candy making so I was thinking about making candies for her in addition to something, but I'm not sure. I don't want to go for the boring money way unless there is a very creative way to display it.

I'm known for giving really great, creative cards..what would be a good one? maybe a candy card...???

Answer
in my experiance, gift giving should be a combination of something nice and a perosnal touch. if your as close to her as you say, im sure you have some personal jokes with her. think hard and make something out of candy that you can both laugh at. for the nice touch, buy her jewlry that fits in. friends love hand made gifts. i know i didnt get anything really personal for my bat mitzvah so make this really special so she can remember it.
also, make her a memory bottle. take an empty wine bottle put a candle on and melt different colered wax. while presenting the beautifully decorated bottle at the bat mitzvah, you could write her something about your friend ship or memories or put lyrics about her to a song that you both like.
I hope this helped

What are good baby shower ideas for a girl?

Valerie Ya

My sister is having a baby girl and I want to throw her a baby shower. What websites or stores are good for decorations and invitations?

Answer
Sweet Baby Girl Theme - This theme is ideal for any mom-to-be with a real sweet tooth! Start with table linens and cups in bright candy colors. Set up a candy buffet, wrapping the jars in pretty ribbons, and load up a cupcake tower with colorful treats.

Put out a book for guests to leave âsweetâ notes for the parents. Use your computer to spell out the words S-W-E-E-T B-A-B-Y G-I-R-L on round 5-inch shapes; then print, cut, rim with glitter and string with ribbon or yarn: voila, chic and pretty bunting!

Candy topiaries make perfect decor for the tables, and over sized old-fashioned lollipops are the perfect backdrop for signs to mark your food, gift and signing stations. Make a personalized take-home bag for each guest so they can savor the sweetness later!

1st wedding anniversary gift ideas?

Courtney

My 1st wedding anniversary is in a few weeks, July 23rd. I have no idea what to get my husband. I just bought some lingerie last night online from Victorias Secret as a surprise to wear for him but i have no clue what else to get him. He doesn't need anything, and everything he does want he buys. Also, he is not a romantic guy AT ALL. I was thinking a coupon book for sexual favors and such ;) I know it's the paper anniversary, so that would fit. Ideas on what to include in a coupon book? Any other gift ideas?

Answer
All really good ideas! Another might be to take some photos of you in your new lingerie, that's paper too :-)

Ideas for your sexual favors coupon book might include:
Full body massage - if all goes to plan you will both end up with no clothes on!
Oral sex coupon (self explanatory)
You pick the position - let him pick the position of his fantasy
Naked chef coupon - make him his favorite meal, the catch being you will do it with no clothes on, or with you lingerie on and dine with him in the candle light. (they say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach lol)
Risqué movie night - let him choose an erotic movie, you can move from the couch to the bedroom.

Hope this helped and congratulations on your wedding anniversary!

I need groomsmen and best-man gift ideas?

crxdrvr34

cool, unique, non cheesy gift ideas

Answer
My fiance is giving his groomsmen and best man each dog tags with their name, their "role" in the wedding, the date of the wedding and then a quote relating to a part of their past together. Along with those, he's doing a person-specific basket for each...one's movies, one's cars and one's sports. He's buying everything he wants in each and then i'm putting them together.

For the best man, he recently decided to add a leather journal with a written letter from him in it talking about their past and memories as well as his thanks. His best man is a song-writer and just loves to write...it's something that he'll love and really cherish.

I did something similar for my made of honor and bridesmaids. We wanted to get them something that wouldn't just sit around collecting dust...something that was specific to them and that they could enjoy.
