Are gift cards good idea for christmas?

Q.

Answer
Gift cards used to be a tacky kind of present, but nowadays it is a great gift. I gave friends and families various gift cards because they can always choose what they want. For example, one friend of mine (and her husband) go out to eat a lot and they don't have a lot of money, so I gave them a restaurant gift card. So, yes gift cards are good to give. I think most people like receiving gift cards.

What are some gift ideas for my husband for christmas?

Mrs. Campb

He hates Jewelery, and he has a car, He has a phone that he can play music thru, so he doesn't need an ipod. Whenever i ask what he thinks he would like, he doesnt know. He is someone who loves music and movies. But, he owns like every movie in this city. What do you guys think?
The guitar was a good idea but he has an electrical And acoustic...grr...he has too much.

Answer
Well, you are in the same predicament as me. Here is what I buy!! If he is a movie/music lover, then go with gift certificates for your local movie place or concert location. If there are upcoming concerts, get him tickets! If he is a sports guy, game tickets or season passes are great too!! If his phone plays music, you could get him the prepaid music cards too. Throw in a restaurant gift certificate, and you guys have a complete night out!! Hope that helps!!

What are some good Xmas gift ideas for my roommates?

Brit

I have 4 roommates all around the age of 20. I'm really broke this Christmas, but still want to get them something. So I'm looking for cheap ideas of stuff to make. For example, one roommate already told us she's making us these bags filled with corn kernels (I think) and u can heat them up in the microwave and they stay warm. So something like that. I can do basic sewing, crocheting, and can cook. Thanks for the help.

Answer
I'd make little personalized gifts for each one. Try making gift baskets with candy, fruit and maybe a small gift card to Starbucks for each one. Or if you'd prefer to sew, you could make a bag and put the gifts in there. You can also substitute your own baking for the candy to save more money. Just try and create a color scheme for each basket so it looks like a unified product at the end. If you choose the right pieces, the final result can look a lot more expensive than the individual pieces.

If you need inspiration, try looking at some online gift basket sites. I've bought a lot of items from Yossi's Sweet House - http://www.yossissweethouse.com - and they're really great. Even if you can't afford to buy gifts from them, you can still get design ideas from there.

Xmas gift ideas--boyfriend, age 23?

should be

I need LOTS of gift ideas for my boyfriend, 23. We've been dating almost 4 years now. I'm looking for something in the $50-$100 range. He likes to fish, golf and watch college football (buckeye fan) but he's really hard to buy for. He's got a lot of stuff...can't think of anything that he "wants" so what do you get someone who has "everything?"
* while the sentiment is noted, no sexual favors should be given as "gifts"...aren't those expected? haha ;)

Answer
Go to www.gifts.com. When you get there, you can use the shop by personality option which lets you pick whether you are shopping for a man, woman, girl, or boy & then it will take you thru a series of questions to get an idea of what kind of person he is. When you get thru that a lot of gift ideas will pop up. Even if you don't find exactly what you are seeking, it'll help get your ideas flowing. Good luck~

I would like gift ideas for my mom's 80th birthday?

Sharon

my mom still drives and loves to drive over 4 states to visit relatives as often as she can. We are having a surprise birthday party for her, looking for some good ideas.

Answer
You can upload a picture of a significant moment in her life or a pretty pic of her and have a personalized photo puzzle made. Here: http://www.jigsaw2order.com/photo_collage_main.html
Another idea, this will require a little more effort: ask other family members to collaborate and come up with "80 reasons we love you". Type the text into a book (using a coffee book table template, maybe?) or have it made in a digital photography store or something similar. Put photos of your mother and family members to accompany the text.
Since she likes to drive, car rental places like Hertz rents Jaguars, Audis and the like for around $100 a day and unlimited mileage. It's a fun treat for someone who would never be able to afford a luxury vehicle, if the case. A less expensive option is a gift certificate for an oil change, lube and filter service (or even a full service) or gift card for free gas for a month or something similar. Well, it's useful for those who are always driving.

great ideas?

>anonymous

Im getting married on September 19, 2009 and i need some beautiful ideas. We are getting ready to start planning and buying things... Please help!!

We think the colors are going to be White and Gold. If there could be another color, what would it be?
And the men will have black on, sorry.
And the brides maid dresses?

Answer
EDIT:

First, I would recommend that you purchase a notebook. You'll need something to contain all your ideas, images, and business cards from perspective vendors. Have dividers for Wedding Ceremony (all to do with attire, attendants, prayers and other cermony details), Vendors, music, etc.

After you have made a wedding vision with your fiance', make a list of must and must nots for your wedding. This way any wrinkles (i.e. you want a bazillion bridesmaids, but he only wants one attendant) will be ironed out bfore they cause strife.

Go to places like http://theknot.com where you can set up a wedding to do list, budget, and shop for just about anything. There's also http://www.bridalfever.com.

At least a year in advance you need to have booked your major vendors like caterers and photographers.

I recommend doing your own flower areangements. go to a place like http://flowerexchange.com for good deals on all sorts of flowers. I am saving hundreds of dollars this way. A bridal bouqet of 30 to 60 stems can range from $65-$95. I'll be making my own for $27. Bridesmaids' bouquets range from 20-40 stems depending on your number or the flower type.

For centerpieces, I'm saving money on flowers by getting globes, filling them with smooth stones in my wedding colors, and adding floating candles.

Wedding planners or cooridnators can take up to 10-15% of your budget. I would suggest having a recently married friend play the role of coordinator and assitant planner. You can save money that way, and if they offer to do it for free, give them a gift as you would a bridesmaid.

I think a medium shade of red would go nicely with your chosen colors, but if you aren't sure, go to a paint store and look at their variety of paint chips to get an idea on colors.

Start looking at wedding dress styles and cuts you like, but don't order until about a ten months-year in advance. Start thinking of wedding attendants, and scouting out locations.
If you see one you and your fiance' love, put down a deposit, because locations go fast.

I have a huge liust of the little details that make a big impact (i.e. a photo guest book) so if you're interested in anything like that, email me.

I cannot stress enough the importance of setting a budget BEFORE you buy even a roll of ribbon.

Congratulations, and best of blessings =]

gift ideas for a 4 year old?

Snowlion

ok, a close friend of mine recently moved in with me and she has a 3 year old little boy. This child has all the clothes and toys in the world. He wants for nothing. I am looking for some ideas on what to get him for his upcoming 4th birthday. I would prefer something electronic but its not required. Any ideas?

Answer
Instead of getting him a toy of sorts, how about a movie package...... 2 tickets to the theater to see a movie with popcorn & candy & slurpee.....

or how about books..... or how about a CD walkman with a KIDZBOP cd (ask the staff...they'll know what it is).....or how about a wallet with $10 in it.........

but if you're looking for the toy, how about the LeapFrog toys - they are GREAT. I don't know any kid who hasn't liked it. My 6 year old son also loves his Gameboy and VideoNow!!!

Good Luck!

Jenintn

Help. I need ideas quick. Don't know much about little girls. Need something $20 or less. (that I can get at Walmart)

Answer
Get a cheap bag in pink with purple (or vice versa) tissue paper. Fill the bag with headbands, costume jewelry etc. you can find them in the toys isle where the dress up things are or in the clothing section for little girls. The more the better! After you fill the bag with the items then put two peices of tissue paper on top and voila!! a great gift for a 4 year old. Good Luck!

Any ideas for homemade birthday gifts for your friend?

Care Bear

One of my best friends brthday is really soon, and i wanna give her a good gift, but not just a gift card because thats what everyone gets her & i wanna get her something that means something to her. Any ideas of what i can get or make her?? She loves sports & friends..please and thanks :)

Answer
When I wanted to think of something creative for Christmas gifts to my friends, I drew them all pictures that reminded me of them. If you can't really draw, there is always scrapbooking and pictures from your camera or the internet.

I know I would love it if my friend made a little scrap book or crazy story about all the fun things we've done in the last year.

Just a thought, but It's really fun to put together stuff like that =)

Homemade gift ideas for friend?

shezskippi

My friend and I always buy each other a gift for holidays and birthdays but always make each other something too. Well I have run out of ideas. We've made cards, posters, and food. lol I just need some suggestions.

Its for a teenage girl who is interested in horses and twilight.

Answer
Have you looked at any of the on-line craft and sewing sites for ideas? Not to mention the arts sites! I highly recommend Etsy::Handmades, which has a huge variety (including quality and prices) of handmade items for sale, if you get stuck for time. If you have time, this site is excellent for ideas (be respectful of copyrights at all times -- it's only inspiration that's free. :-D )

So, anyway, here's just one set of ideas: make her a piece of jewelry. Buy some Fimo or Sculpey oven-bake plastic clay, and make a pendant in the shape of a horse, horse's head, or a motif or symbol from Twilight. (Or buy these style of pendants ready-made, if you have a commercial source for them.)

Then string it onto polyester or nylon thread, or on tiger-tail (superfine metal cable inside a plastic sleeve, very fine and strong), with beads in colors she likes, and finish off with crimped-on jumps-rings and a clasp.

Or make the pendant, and string it on a nice silver chain. You can make several pendants of the same design, and use a larger one for a necklace, and two smaller ones (maybe made in mirror-image of each other) for a pair of earrings. Additional ones can be made into hair ornaments, bracelets, ankle-bracelets, a ring, even non-jewelry things like mobile-phone charms, key-chains, or zipper pulls.

And I didn't even get into the sewing ideas....

Have fun!

Father's Day Gift Ideas?

Hula

It's my father's birthday and it is father's day so i need an extra big and special present for him. He has alot of stuff so it's hard to get stuff for him. But he likes to fish, plays hockey, travels alot (for business), likes to cook. Price doesn't matter so any ideas?
okay thanks :)

Answer
Add to any gift a list of the reasons why you appreciate him. Perhaps have it inscribed on a wall plague.

Please don't get a joke card. In my 20+ years of working with fathers, it has been rare that a joke card that makes fun of his abilities is really appreciated.

I wrote this to "Dear Abby" for Father's Day, March 19, 2005.

APPRECIATION FOR JOB WELL DONE IS WHAT FATHERS WANT TO HEAR

DEAR ABBY: Today is Father's Day, so why don't we try to do more for dear old Dad than give him the usual greeting card that promotes the idea that all dads are imbeciles, followed by a collect call to see what he thought of the card. (Father's Day is the day when the most collect calls are made.)

We should treat our fathers the way we treat our mothers on Mother's Day and show them we appreciate them for being there. Yes, you probably tell your father all the time that you love him, but the minds of men work differently. Anyone can say "I love you," but as men, knowing that we are appreciated for a job well done is what really gets us teary-eyed.

Something else you can do -- especially you sons out there (but daughters can do it, too) -- is to make sure Dad has been to the doctor for a checkup, including depression screening. This can go a long way toward making sure he's here on Father's Day next year.

I wasn't raised by my father, but by a stepfather. Although we did not see eye-to-eye on many things, I would not be the person I am today if it were not for him. This man, who spent years climbing on top of heavy construction equipment to prepare the ground for many of the homes, businesses, roads and highways of Southern California, now finds it difficult to get into a car. Although none of the houses or roads have his name on them, they are all testaments to his life and the lives of men like him.

So today, let's do something extra for Dad, without him pulling out his wallet to pay for it. -- George McCasland, Overland Park, Kansas

Remember, there's a lot of us fathers sitting in nursing homes whose children live too far away to visit. Contact an activities director about volunteering Sunday morning. Read a list out loud about why you appreciated your father.

Gift Ideas for 9 year old girl?

ibi

Every year we struggle to figure out what to get our niece for Christmas. She has always enjoyed the princess line (ugh) but now shes getting old enough that she isn't as much into dolls. Lately however she has started enjoying doing models, so I thought we would do something different this year and instead of getting whatever princess game/movie/clothing... we could get her something more hands on that she could construct. Any ideas or suggestions on a set that could be built, but is still girly-ish (I think she would prefer something that was pink)? Or other suggestions in general. Thanks a lot.

What about the round knitting looms? I have many children who really love them and they can make things for gifts. It comes with a hat pattern & they make many other things too.

loomknittingmagazine yahoo group & other looming groups have video's that show how to use them.

Yarn for finger knitting, Here is a couple of links that shows how
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3LKAlDz9ig&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfogdwzE3BY&feature=related

A kit that has knitting needles, yarn, a small loom, crochet hook & instructions this way there is a variety of items she can choose to learn.

If she chooses knitting here is a link Kids can follow for cast on:

Once the stitches are cast on here is a video how to begin to knit easy to follow:

If it is crochet there are many links in loomknittingmagazine yahoo group that show this as well.

If she is crafty or wants to be then this might be for her.

If she is not then what about orgamy (folding coloured paper to make items)

What about balloon twisting making animals, hats, crowns teiarras, there are books & kits to buy.

What about tangram blocks, or making them out of card board,

Whats a small gift idea for a seven year old girl?

leokinz95

I`m a mentor to a little girl every Wednesday after school. I don't know much about her because her parents always pick her up really early and she always answers my questions about her by saying i don't know. Anyways shes 7 and a rough and tumble type of girl who loves to be held and play games. I want to get her a gift but it has to be under five dollars any ideas?

Answer
Does she have a webkinz account? If so, the Webkinz hamsters are kind of cool. I know it sounds a little old school, but my kids still play with theirs sometimes. Not to mention, there are lots of games on it. If she doesn't already have a hamster, it will unlock a whole new world for her. If she does, it's still a fun idea anyways. Not to mention, they only cost about $5. Hope this helps!

My newphew is about to turn 5, any parents out there have any good ideas for a gift? He has so many toys already and we have a big family so he gets so many gifts, I wanted to get him something different. He loves trains, construction vehicles, power rangers, all the typical boy stuff.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Answer
Is there a favorite place that he loves to go to? One that maybe he has been asking to go to for awhile? If he gets a bunch of toys from everyone else...maybe your best gift would be a gift of a wonderful memory. Take him somewhere that he enjoys. Take lots of pictures. Maybe there you can pick up a little knick-knack for him to remember your day out by. Once home get the pictures developed. By a unique frame and pick your favorites out of the pictures you took. Wrap that and have him unwrap it. Discuss the things you did on his birthday retreat. You are giving him a gift of memory. Toys come and go but memories are always there. It makes for a great time and a wonderful bonding session with your son.

gift ideas for my boyfriend?!?!? PLZ HELP?

Chloe S

so for my birthday, my boyfriend got me a teddy bear and i love it bevause everytime i see it i think of him. so i told him this and of course he was happy that it made me think of him. but then i was like "wait i havent gotten you anything to remind oyu of me!" and so i was like, "i'm gonna get you something....."

but idk wat to get him.... we've been dating for 6 months and we're both sixteen if that helps....

any suggestions!?!?

also idk when to give it to him, cuz his birthday isn't until january and christmas is kinda far away, so when do you think?

Answer
Here are a few ideas of gifts that you can give your boyfriend

1. Designer clothes

If your boyfriend has a penchant for wearing designer clothes, then take him to a designer boutique and allow him to sail in a self-indulgence trip. Few stores even offer handy tips to their patrons, like advice on colors that suit their personality/complexion, tips on color co-ordination etc. Buying designer clothes for your boyfriend is definitely an expensive idea but since it's not going to be a regular indulgence, you should have no regrets on loosening your purse strings!

Recommended Merchant:

Overstock.com is an excellent merchant to buy gifts at a low price for your boyfriend. They have a special gift finder section where you can choose the occasion and the person you're buying a gift for, pick the interests of the person and get a whole list of gifts which you can buy, beginning from as little as $15. They also regularly offer free shipping deals and have a very good reputation as an online retailer.

2. Pamper his senses

If your boyfriend is overstressed or ignoring his health then enroll him into a fitness program or take him to a spa for a complete body treatment. This may not only rejuvenate his tired muscles but may do wonders to his senses too..

3. Magazine subscriptions

If you have a book lover for a boyfriend, gift him a yearly subscription of his favorite magazine. If fiction or non-fiction books appeal to him, then gift him a first edition book of his favorite author.

4. Gadgets galore

It's a widespread belief that men love to possess the latest gadgets that hit the market. Every electronics store is flooded with the latest gadgets from sleek mobiles and laptop, to an I-pod or a PDA. Boys experience a deep sense of pride when they become owners of a latest cell phone or any electronic gadget, for that matter.

5. Makeover

Many magazines and tabloids invite readers to send their photographs and profile for a free makeover. Send your boyfriend's pictures to any such magazine citing catchy reasons as to why he needs an image makeover. If selected, his 'before' and 'after' photos published in the magazine will make him popular and at the same time, he gets a total change in image for free! Be careful though! You might have to deal with other girls hitting on him thereafter!

6. Pets

Just leave a cute puppy or kitten at his doorstep with a guide book on how to take care of pets. Try giving a pet to your boyfriend, you may be surprised to see the happiness and glow on his face.

7. Romantic Poetry

If words flow out of your mouth in the form of verse, then pen a poem for him. Expressing your true feelings for your boyfriend in the form of a poem is one of the most romantic and cost-effective ideas of a suitable gift for your beau.

8. Personalized gifts

Give him a personalized gift. it could be a t-shirt or a coffee mug or a flask or anything else you can think of. CafePress has millions of items you can buy, personalized. You can get a t-shirt with any quote you want, see a preview online and order it, for as little as $15 or you can upload your own art work to be printed on any product you pick.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking for some small, inexpensive gift ideas for my 1.5 year old?

Mama <3

My daughter is one. She has already gotten a ball pitt and 500 balls for christmas. We got her a really good quality one ((not the inflatable crappy ones)). Anyway we also got her a thing of mega blocks, and some more weeble people. I am looking for a few more ideas of cheap little gifts to wrap so she can have more to unwrap. The ball pit will be set up already.

Thanks!

PS- She already has a ton of dolls.

Answer
Anything that can be stacked and knocked over,ny 16 month old will do this over and over, leaving me tired.Fisher Price makes this thing its a ball that opens with a smaller ball and then you open that and there is a smaller ball in that one and so on.It really is cute and it can be rolled, opened and stacked.

Clay is lots of fun, coloring books and big crayons, slippers, music instruments(whistle, drum, maracas)
hand or little finger puppets, small cars to push around, pretend food with all sorts of cups and spoons, etc.these are just some ideas.
Try a kids consignment shop near by,I have several where I live and you can find some neat stuff for half the price of regular stores.Plus some shops will let you trade in some of your old stuff in for new.At this age she will not know where it came from and you get to save too.Every ones happy.
Make sure you use lots of sparkly paper, that'she fun part, getting off the paper:)Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

Gift Idea: scooter for 5 year old?

Sammie

I think my nearly 5 year old girl would enjoy an electric scooter/or go-cart. The problem is: I'm having a hard time find one for a 5 year old. Any ideas?

She has a Barbie Jeep PowerWheels...but I think she needs something a little more for a "big" girl.

Answer
well maybe not an average scooter for a 5 year old but they do sell kiddie scooters with one wheel in the front and two in the back, that woudl be much safer also, purchase some saftey gear, its always good to have a back up plan, also ignore the first answer dont buy those games for her.

Family gift ideas?

SJM

Money is extremely tight with everyone this year and I was trying to come up with a neat idea for a gift to give to the whole family instead of buying for each person individually. It would be for my dad, stepmom, brother age 3, brother, age 15, and stepbrother, 19. Am I just being cheap not buying individual gifts and taking the easy way out? I think everyone will understand that money is tight becasue my husband and I are also helping raise our nephew while my sister is in Kuwait. I just feel that a family gift is impersonal and need great gift ideas! PLEASE HELP!!

Answer
Family gifts are not impersonal...you are thinking of them and that is what really matters! Set a price for your gift....now go to your local Thrift Store and find a nice sized basket...maybe you can also find some Silk Christmas Floral arrangement..tear the arrangement apart, and wire some of the flowers to the basket, (or glue them with Hot Glue...you can also use Floral Picks from a local Variety Store or the Dollar Store...depending on the size of Basket you find, fill it...here are some ideas for it...While you are at the Thrift Store, look for Coffee Mugs and Tins with Christmas Motifs and scenes...these can be filled with Christmas Candy, Jelly Beans, Foil Wrapped Chocolates, or individual packages of Cocoa... or you might add Marshmellows and a can of Whipped cream found in the dairy Dept of your Grocery Store and a large box of Hot Chocolate mix, maybe find a Christmas Movie that you think they all might enjoy...wrap it or place it in the basket.....or buy the Christmas Cokes in the Bottles, and add Popcorn and Butter with the Movie....or MCDonalds Gift Cards..use a little imagination, and put the gift together.....If the basket will hold the tin, make and decorate some Sugar Cookies... and place them in the tin and if you want to....take over a gallon of Milk! Nothing is better than Milk with Cookies! You can wrap the Basket or Tin in Celephane Wrap, (to do this, Cut 4 very long pieces of Celephane, enough to go completely around your basket or Tin, or Coke or whatever......Criss-cross them in the shape of a X, draw up the ends, and tie with Curling Ribbon, and add lots of Curl ,a Card and tie at top of package.) Other ideas, make a Cheese Ball, and do Crackers and Wine, or make some Cider or Wassail and take it over...You know your family, and you know what they like...I'm sure you can think of something that will turn out to be personal and not too expensive! They will understand that you are on a budget..do not let the Commercialism of the season play on your heart. And you might want to buy a little something special for the 3 year old, Tootsie Toy Cars are not very expensive or a color book and crayons, a 3 year old is not hard nor expensive to buy for, and so you might make a small exception there if you want to...the others won't take offence at this....Good Luck, and God Bless! Hope I've helped!
Here is my favorite recipe for Sugar Cookies, I have made them since I was 10 years old and continue to make them every year (I am 56 now) They have always been popular wherever I take them...I like this recipe, because it makes about 6 dozen cookies, and you do not have to refridgerate the dough before rolling them out. However you can refidgerate the dough if you want to wait. Your nephew might want to help you and send some to his mother in Kuwait...if you do this, Freeze them before mailing and they will get there fresher....
I mix these cookies by hand, not a mixer!

Sugar Cookies
Sift together the following ingredients:
3 c. Flour, 1 tsp. baking Powder, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 1/4 c. Sugar.

Cut in 1 c. of Shortening with Fork or Pastry cutter. (You can use partial Butter or Margarine if desired)

Add 3 Unbeaten Eggs and 1 tsp. Vanilla...mix well.

Roll out onto lightly floured Board, about 1/4" thick and cut with Christmas Design cookie Cutters. Bake in Moderate Oven preheated to 375 degrees, for about 8 minutes.. Cool and frost or decorate.

(You can roll a little thicker or thinner, depending on how you like the cookie, but must experiment with cooking time if you do this)

Frosting

1 c Sifted Powdered Sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp Vanilla or other flavoring, (I always use Vanilla) 1 1/2 TBsp. Cream or Milk. Mix well... color frosting if desired with Food Coloring-Frosting will be thin....Frost your cookies and use sprinkles, decorator Sugars and decorettes, or decorate after Frosting sets. Have a table covered with Waxed Paper to let the Frosting set on the cookies, then deorate with decorator icing. Then let Frosting set again. Place in Air Tight Tins or Tupperware and Refridgerate, or Freeze until distribution.(Sometimes I go the extra mile, and decorate, but most of the time it is just the frosting and decoator Sugars & sprinkles...the cookies are always a big hit, and I also do them on Valentines Day!

Humorous Story: I was a Room Mother for 6 years, and always took these Cookies for School Parties...when the kids got older they had to take Home-Ec, and at Christmas time their teacher had them make sugar cookies and then eat them at their party..most of the kids had been in one or more of the classes of which I had been Room Mother......when they had their party, they all piped up that their cookies were terrible, and that the teacher should get my recipe! (My son flunked that assignment, and the teacher never asked for my recipe!)

Tasteful bachelorette gift ideas, please!?

jlg_jdf

I just got invited to a bachelorette party today that is on Friday. The back said to please bringe a TASTEFUL bachelorette gift for the bride. I know I could find tons of bad ones, but I can't think of anything tasteful but that also applies to a bachelorette party. I can't order anything and I live in a small town so ideas need to be something I could pick up at common places like Wal-Mart. Thanks!

Answer
For a bachelorette party consider bringing a bottle of champagne or wine and some nice glasses, a nice bath set with bubble bath, lotion, and a loofah, a bag of pasta with a jar of sauce together with bowls, or a nice stationery set for the bride to be. I totally understand the request for tasteful gifts....but you can still get her something that can help her relax!!!

Bachelorette Party Idea...?

Q. We are having a bachelorette party in 3 weeks. We have somewhat of an idea of what we are doing. I wanted to pass it to yall and see what yall thought.

We were thinking of playing Pokeno, and then heading out to the club for a night of dancing and fun. If you dont know what Pokeno is. Well here ya go.(we do a monthly play night)

It is just like bingo, but instead of #'s you play with a deck of cards. Your Pokeno card has cards on it. And what ever game you are playing 1st one to win yells pokeno.

you bring a gift that has to do with the theme in a gift bag. If you pokeno you choose a gift.. Then the twist. After all the games are won, it becomes like a white elephant christmas. If you win you get to steal whatever gift you want. But the person gets to keep the gift bag. After time has ended for the game (2 hours). The last pokeno wins the pot, $1 per person.

We will be drinking of course. Theme will be Naughty Nights, so anything that has to do with SEX.
*Ran out of room*

After the game we will be heading out to the club for a night of dancing and drinking.

50th Birthday Ideas???

jc207

Where should I take my mom for her 50th Bday in Houston, TX? That she can enjoy and they allow children....ideas for gifts??? THANKS PEOPLE! :D

Answer
For my mothers 50th I completely transformed her garage by going to wal-mart and buying the cheapest bolts of black stretchy material they had and stretched that over the walls and the ceiling. Get some paper stars(different sizes), silver spray paint, then get a screw driver or any kind of medium size stick.First tape stick to the tip of the star and hold it up close to the material and the spray the silver paint over the star. Repeat that with all the different sizes a;; over the walls(on the material) and when you are done there wil be a bunch of black stars with the silver outline. It looks real cool. practice first though so you get a feel of what I am talking about.
I also sent her school pic from when she was 8 to her co-worker and had them posted up all over the building. (she had no idea how they got those pics)
You can go to a party supply and get a sign that hangs on the wall for everybody to sign and write a message. you can also buy the package of over the hill road signs and put them on plywood and use those as signs to follow to get to the party. attach some balloons to them too.this is great if your house is hard to find or you live in the country or both!
Get a hold of old friends and classmates and maybe even teachers if you can.
The to top it all off a stripper.
If you don't have the money for a stripper then take up a collection at the party b-4 the stripper arrives and let the guests know about it before they arrive put it on the invitations. but be sure to let them know they are not obligated to chip in though. it worked out great for me =)

50th birthday present ideas?!?

xxStarDoll

My mother turns 50 in Septmeber and I'm really struggling to think of good present ideas!
Ideally, my sister, my Dad, my boyfriend and I would all club together to get something decent but I have no ideas---I can't ask my Dad or sister because they haven't got any clue either, so I feel it's kinda up to me to think of something.
She loved Simply Red but they've split up so that's not an option-(I would have sent her to see them) and she's not into football, so a footie trip away is not an option.
She goes on holidays to Spain every year, sometimes twice, so I think sending her there wouldn't be very special-and I can't afford a trip to say, New York, or somewhere.
She is a lovely person who is not into material things, but I do want to get her a decent present for such a big birthday.

Our budget would be around â¬400-500 if we all clubbed together.
Any suggestions please? Greatly appreciated!

Answer
I totally agree with you that 50 is a milestone year and deserves a great gift! Your budget is pretty big so you can basically get her anything - an ipad or laptop or other tech gift is one idea, if she doesn't have them already. My daughter has the ipad2 and loves it and brings it everywhere.

If you want to get her jewelry, you could certainly get her one big item, or maybe matching pieces. Or, perhaps you can give her the jewelry in an armoire or other special box/holder.

Some ideas/suggestions - everything on these sites is completely handcrafted by artists and the quality is incredible. Most pieces are signed by the artist and some are numbered and it all can be shipped internationally:

This is truly special and has a matching bracelet - there is a tiny piece of paper where you can customize what you want to say and it slips into the silver envelope:

Your mom sounds very special - I hope I've helped a bit. Happy 50th and all the best to you all!

Gift ideas for 2 year old boys birthday?

mom of two

My son is turning two soon and I need help finding gift ideas for it. He has a three year old brother so my house is over run with toys. I'm hoping for ideas other than a the usual. Such as trucks, blocks, dinosaurs and so on. We like to read so we also have an abundance of books as well. Does any one of ideas that stand out and are different?

Answer
-Dress up for boys. Hats, vests, beards (style ideas: pirates, construction workers, lumber jacks, etc). I've seen those on Etsy and I think they are adorable! But that would add to the toys, but at 2 years they begin playing make-believe.

-Edible playdough. Make it yourself (google search or look it up on pinterest), or buy it from Etsy. Put it in a fun jar or tupperware. Eventually it would disappear either because he ate it or because he let it dry out. No toys to add to the clutter!

-Pop-up Playhouse. We got one of these for my son last Christmas for about $18. You can get them at most of the big stores (Target, Walmart, we got ours at Big Lots and I've seen them at Ross and TjMaxx). The beautiful thing about it is it's giant when it's set up, but the whole thing folds up flat in less than 10 seconds and slips nicely behind the couch. Easy clean up, big fun!

There's another great list of birthday gift ideas - it's for 1 year old kids, but most would still work for a 2 year old - like bath toys, sensory balls and stuff like that. It would be adding to the toys, but I thought it worth mentioning... at least for some more ideas.

Good luck whatever you decide!

Ideas for gift for 1 year old twins?

pam d

They have lots of toys ..so I would like to get them something else....it's twin boy and girl ..little angels of course . I'm their grandmother and any suggestions would be a great help.

Answer
When my twins turned 1 just a few months ago I was thinking the same thing. Kids grow out of clothes so fast that they are always a great thing to get. I love that even though my kids were born in January, and at the birthday party they each received a pair of swim shorts (size 18 months). Think ahead for the next season and age size.

What I personally think would be a great gift would be a gift card for a photography studio. Each year at their birthday, take the kids in and do pictures. Especially at this age where they are growing up so fast, having professional, fun photos can be a great gift. As a parent of twins, I try, but I never feel like I have enough time to take lot of pictures of my kids, especially together! It won't be that expensive either if you buy a small package of pictures. Hope this helps and congrats on the wonderful addition to your family!

Christmas gift ideas?

Remus Lupi

Well, about a month ago I picked up my mom a Christmas & birthday present at Best Buy. I gave her a Lady Antebellum cd for her birthday and I'm planning on giving her a Rob Thomas cd for Christmas. However, I don't have anything for my dad. I'm 14 and don't plan to spend much. My dad doesn't necessarily need clothes or many electronics. He has a camera, gps, and laptop. Plus he doesn't listen to music enough to get him an iPod. I guess electronics are out of the question. He likes fishing and hunting, but I have no idea what to get him if it has anything to do with that.

I'm also looking for a gift for a (female) friend. I don't want it to be too personal. Plus, she has a boyfriend. I don't know what to get for her and I've been thinking of getting her something because I think she's planning on buying me something.

Can anyone help?

Answer
if your dad likes fishing, maybe you could get him a tackle box or something to do with fishing. or maybe just something stupid for a joke. :-) i got my dad this little reindeer that poops out candy when you push it down. it also plays jingles bells when you shake it. lol.

for your friend, maybe if shes a girly girl she'd like a bottle of perfume. maybe she'd like a purse of a bottle of lotion that smells nice. think of something she likes to do. for example, i do bowling. last year my bff got me a little figurine of a panda bowling.

hope this helps!

Cross Country Locker Sign & Gift Ideas ?

RunningIsL

We have secret sisters for state/region in cross country.
we make them signs and get them gifts before regions & state.
any ideas about what to get my "sister" or any good locker sign ideas?
I'd like to not just give her candy but im thinking like maybe some cute gifts
as for the signs -- im thinking of writing Good Luck and putting some cool running quotes??

Answer
As far as the gift goes, the reusable water bottles are great and something she'd probably use. They're fairly inexpensive and just a good gift that runners use. For posters, just say something like push it in or something and have a sweet animal on it. Everyone loves disney too, so you could always just do a princess or something that doesn't relate to running.
