Cross Country Locker Sign & Gift Ideas ?

RunningIsL

We have secret sisters for state/region in cross country.
we make them signs and get them gifts before regions & state.
any ideas about what to get my "sister" or any good locker sign ideas?
I'd like to not just give her candy but im thinking like maybe some cute gifts
as for the signs -- im thinking of writing Good Luck and putting some cool running quotes??

Answer
As far as the gift goes, the reusable water bottles are great and something she'd probably use. They're fairly inexpensive and just a good gift that runners use. For posters, just say something like push it in or something and have a sweet animal on it. Everyone loves disney too, so you could always just do a princess or something that doesn't relate to running.

gift ideas for adoptive grandparents?

Q. Greetings all. Our daughters adoption of a beautiful baby girl will be final in October. We want to fine a unique gift for her. Ideas please??

God bless

Answer
A photo address book of all the adopted family, with their title at the top of the page eg Grandma, then a photo of Grandma, then their real name Mary Smith, then their address, phone number and date of birth.
All the relatives. It makes you feel more secure to have all the family there in a book together. I think every adopted child should have two of these, one of the bio family and any friends (adult or child) who were important in that life/world, and one of the adopted family.
A locket with pictures of both parents is nice too, (bio or adopted parents or both).
And a framed family tree with her in it.
All these things are nice given from either bio family or adopted, and make you feel more secure. I made my photo book myself when I was a toddler, because I felt the need to put it in print - you know like putting something in writing feels more permeanant/definate than just thinking or saying it. I wanted solid evidence.
Being given them as a gift would have been nicer.
You could also plant a tree for her, so it will grow with her.

Help with gift idea!?

I made my grandparents a origami vase with origami flowers. It looks really nice and took a lot of hard work. I ran out of time to make my parents something. Any idea what I could make them? I have about 5 hrs to work.

DIY Birthday Gift Ideas....?

Kathryn

Your help would be very appreciated! A little over a year ago, my cousin moved in with me. My family and I really helped her out, and a month ago she left to move back to her home town. I really want to make her something for her birthday that she will actually use and like! I love anything DIY because I really enjoy crafts and love to be creative. She's 22, her favorite color is green, and she lives near the beach. (She's lived there her entire life, so really, the beach isn't that special to her.. so it'd be kinda weird to have a lot of suggestions about the beach.) I just really wanted to know if any of you knew any, not good, but GREAT websites for DIY crafts. I really like mydiyweddingday.com, but unfortunately, I'm not planning a wedding here! I have a month to make whatever it is, too, because her birthday is early August.. and I'm sending it, probably, around August 1, so it will be there by her birthday!
Thank you all for your help!

Christmas Gift Ideas?

taylor

I'm in need of Christmas gift ideas! I need a few ideas for quite a few different people;

⢠my mom and dad. i want a gift $35 or under. i'm hoping to incorporate lots of photos in their gift. they tend to like gifts that come more from the heart. i loved the photo coupon gift idea from bubbyandbean.com. i was hoping to do a scrapbook, but my further knowledge showed that they cost a lot more than i hoped, and they were much harder. i'd like the gift to be easy to make/buy.
⢠my brothers. they're ages six and fourteen. our family has been running very low on money, so we've all agreed not to give each other gifts, but we're all making cards for each other. i really want mine to come from the heart. please give me quotes/sayings to give to my brothers in their cards and links to cute tutorials or pictures.
⢠my best friend. she's girly, and in love w/ vera bradley. i want to include vera bradley stuff, but i want to incorporate something personal with the vera bradley things.

Answer
Find an digital picture frame, then upload all your/their favorite pictures, or as many as you can for your Mom and Dad. With it being the season, you should be able for find them in your price range. As for your brothers, I got this very cute snowman made from a Hershey Bar, last year. The idea came from Pinterest. A snowman was printed on paper, then wrapped around the candy bar. Felt strip for a scarf and felt folded and glued for a stocking cap. The back had ample space to write Christmas greetings. If you do not access to a color printer for the snowman, you could always hand draw it. It was for a standard size candy bar, but you could adapt it to perhaps their favorite candy bar and adapt it to a favorite sports team and/or superhero. It would be a little more than just a card. . . yet affordable and something you could really personalize. As for Vera Bradley...you are on a budget, it's pretty pricey, but you should be able to find something, for example, some fabric stores carry Vera Bradley fabric. Cover a simple wooden photo frame with fabric and put a photo of you and your friend in it, best of both worlds.

His interests:
-basketball
-reading
-history

He's going to college for either economics or to be a lawyer.

I was thinking about either getting him stock and framing it or buying him a wallet full of gift cards. Any ideas are very much appreciated! Thank you :)

The gift card idea is a cool idea.

You could also find him a piece of autographed sports memorabilia from his favorite player or team.

1st Anniversary Gift ideas for Boyfriends?

bianca

My Boyfriend and I are gonna be celebrating our 1st year as boyfriend and girlfriend together
I need some ideas on how can I give him a surprise on our special day on January 26 2014 (SUNDAY)

My boyfriend already have given so much presents this past few weeks

Things that he gave me are:
-> Casio Watch
-> Samsung Galaxy S3
-> Giorgio Armani Eye Glasses

I got so overwhelmed by all of these gifts. and I never asked him to buy these gifts for me. In fact these are the things I need for everyday.

What should I do to make it up to him this coming Sunday?
We went for a trip to Baguio last Sunday it was for our office team building and also included my boyfriend. The thing is that I planned that the trip will be my gift for him on our anniversary because that week I have extra funds. I paid for the both of us accommodations and fare for the private van.

Should I tell him that was my gift for him for our 1st anniversary? or should I give him something else?

Answer
*Crafted Love-Boat Valentine Gift

A really cute homemade valentine gift idea! Purchase a valentine day gift wrapper or bag. Create a boat out of it by cutting the sides, now this will look like a valentine boat. Utilizing a very thin stick (a toothpick or a paper stick) create a flag on the side and top of the boat. Place the couple image onto it taken out from the printer and decorate it with little frills. Now fill the boat with heart shaped chocolates covered with red colour paper. Put the final touch for your homemade valentine day gift by providing it a note saying âShipping me to youâ quietly of the boat.

Drink Time

Considering things to drink while meeting for your simple dinner on Valentineâs Day? Then this is a fantastic idea for you personally. You just need can of fresh strawberries, plus some tequila. Mix them well together within the mixer and obtain it dressed ornately inside a long glass jar tied having a thick fat ribbon around the neck of the jug. Your guy is definitely likely to appreciate this drink out of your hands; you can include a hot cuddle into it too!

Clothing

Sounds clichéd and traditional but well havenât you heard your guy swooning over what his mom did for his dad and all sorts of that? Knit a pleasant sweater for him, donât choose pink wool, and select a color he likes. Otherwise a sweater a scarf or some gloves could do too. This can remind him of your warmth as soon as he goes cold.

Story Book Personalised

You story is special and different so that as a matter of fact each story is exclusive. The time is right you get your crayons, card papers along with other crafts in position to get a story book produced by yourself. What we should can add like a special suggestion for you is this fact book must have a personalised Photoshop cover along with you as well as your guyâs photos doing something dramatic done up and dolled up creatively.

A Personalised Lamp

Buy a plain mono coloured lamp in the market and paint it with love messages and photos he will remember you using the moment it illuminates. Illuminate his life and polish your passion this valentinesâ day.

Cute Poem-Scroll Valentine Gift

Whoa- an antique scroll having a valentine poem scrawled! If you are able to write a poem for the beloved on your own then it is the best ever gift! Or maybe not make use of the net (as always). Put the poem recorded on the scroll inside a Monotype Corsiva font. You are able to select a classic poem too. After writing the poem crush the paper and set it in to the dark tea for couple of seconds after which take it out to smooth it & dry. If you wish to then add gothic kind of a glance burn the perimeters of the paper too however it must be done carefully, because it wonât burn the entire paper.

what's a good christmas gift for dad?

biatch

he doesnt wear ties & he's already got every tool in the world. i got him a sweet sweater and an ipod last year but he never wears or uses it. what would you get a dad?

Answer
Hey........you love him, right? If he's like me, he will treasure something you produce yourself. Do you do art? Are you a photographer? Do you write? Can you sing? Can you cook? Would he like a special favor, such as cleaning his car really well? You could write a letter to the editor of your local paper and tell the world what you think of your dad. They might not publish a letter due to space, but if you talk to one of the editors first, they might just realize how special it would be. Failing that, you could just take out an ad and tell him you love and admire him.

My daughter gave me a photograph she had taken. It was an artistic piece that she mounted and delivered to me. It holds a prominent place in my home and in my heart. What could have meant more?

You can think of a lot of things to do for your dad. He's worth it.

christmas gift ideas for dad?

evil_otaku

well... as everyone knows, christmas is near, but i don't know what i should give to my dad.
surprisingly enough, he isn't that much into electronics, and i don't have much money anyway, so that's out. he's one of those dads that actually likes homemade stuff (you know, cause you made it yourself and all...) he's a food lover and he isn't very sporty but he likes that kind of stuff too. I'd say his favorite hobby would be making stuff. (like woodworking, fixing things and creating weird inventions...)
so what should i get him for christmas?

Answer
You can get your dad a nice
Shirt
Tie
Wallet
Socks
A magazine for household repairs
A cookbook

I would like gift ideas for my mom's 80th birthday?

Sharon

my mom still drives and loves to drive over 4 states to visit relatives as often as she can. We are having a surprise birthday party for her, looking for some good ideas.

Answer
You can upload a picture of a significant moment in her life or a pretty pic of her and have a personalized photo puzzle made. Here: http://www.jigsaw2order.com/photo_collage_main.html
Another idea, this will require a little more effort: ask other family members to collaborate and come up with "80 reasons we love you". Type the text into a book (using a coffee book table template, maybe?) or have it made in a digital photography store or something similar. Put photos of your mother and family members to accompany the text.
Since she likes to drive, car rental places like Hertz rents Jaguars, Audis and the like for around $100 a day and unlimited mileage. It's a fun treat for someone who would never be able to afford a luxury vehicle, if the case. A less expensive option is a gift certificate for an oil change, lube and filter service (or even a full service) or gift card for free gas for a month or something similar. Well, it's useful for those who are always driving.

Boyfriend Birthday Gift Ideas?

Scarlett F

Hellooo.

I'm having such a hard time picking out a gift for him even though I know his likes. We've been together six months, so I don't know what going to far would mean. I also don't want him to think that if I get him something expensive, I expect something expensive back when it's my birthday.

Anyways, he's a few things he likes:

He writes music - Maybe a journal to write his songs in? I'm having a hard time finding a decent one online, any ideas?

He's a huge The Beatles fan. He likes 60's/70's/80's music but he has A LOT of CD's already. Wouldn't know what he has or not.

He's 23 btw.

He plays the guitar and the bass.

He's a shy guy for the most part.

He still uses his walkman and carries his cd's with him everywhere... I was thinking an Ipod? But... Would that be too much?

I also saw this The Beatles throw that I think he might like.

Please Help! Anythiiiing anythiiing will be of help!

Thanks! :)

Answer
Since he still uses CDs, you could be all old school and make him a mix. Put songs you think he'll like and songs that remind you of the two of you.

A music journal is a nice idea. Have you seen the ones that have blank sheet music in them as well?
Like this: http://www.themusicstand.com/64-Page-Six-Stave-Student-Blank-Music-Book-p/567781.htm

Or here is a nice music themed regular journal: http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Home-gift/Musicians-Black-Notebook-Manuscript-Paper-for-Inspiration-and-Composition/e/9780762403691/

I'm a fan of Etsy and they specialize in a lot of vintagey stuff so you may find some 60s/70s/80s music themed stuff there. It's all unique and make great gifts.

They have a ton of Beatles related stuff apparently! Check it out:
http://www.etsy.com/search?search_submit=&q=beatles&noautofacet=1

An iPod is always an excellent idea for a music lover but it's up to you to try and feel out how he'd react you getting him something expensive. But like another poster suggested, Nanos and shuffles are also great options! You can even get a Beatles skin for it!

http://www.wirelessemporium.com/p-ms-1177598-the-beatles---band-music-skins-for-apple-ipod-shuffle.asp?source=gbase

Whatever you get him, I'm sure he'll love it :)

graduation gift?

Mrs. Kr

I need some ideas for a small graduation gift for a friend who is graduating college, something different from the usual flowers, etc, etc

Answer
I guess the answer would depend upon how much money you want to invest in the present.

What is the degree your friend has earned? If it's a teaching degree, maybe a gift card from a teacher's supply store or someplace like OfficeMax. Teachers always need supplies.

It the degree is in business, then, a nice engraved pen and pencil set would be suitable.

if the degree is in the sciences, like nursing, then, maybe a gift card from a uniform shop. Nurses need special shoes, and sometimes stethoscopes, etc.

If the degree is in the Arts and Sciences (Liberal Arts), then, a gift card from anywhere- maybe a shop like Penney's or Macy's. The graduate may need some interview clothes.

I hope I have given you some good suggestions.

Graduation Gift Ideas?

Kenz

okay, so i know this is like a month late but i have a few best friends that graduated from 8th grade with me..and i still need to give them their gifts.. the problem is i dont have them, nor do i know what to get them! it doesnt have to be spectacular or expensive because there is 6 of them.. but i want them to like it.. have any suggestions? Thanks! :)

Answer
Do you have any pictures from the past (and current) with them? Maybe you can make a scrapbook. Secondly, you can give them picture frames. Maybe you can get all your friends together and sort of do a Kris Kringle (Secret Santa) idea, but for grad, that way you don't have to buy all 6 friends a gift.

Hope I helped, good luck!

Bachelorette Party Idea...?

Q. We are having a bachelorette party in 3 weeks. We have somewhat of an idea of what we are doing. I wanted to pass it to yall and see what yall thought.

We were thinking of playing Pokeno, and then heading out to the club for a night of dancing and fun. If you dont know what Pokeno is. Well here ya go.(we do a monthly play night)

It is just like bingo, but instead of #'s you play with a deck of cards. Your Pokeno card has cards on it. And what ever game you are playing 1st one to win yells pokeno.

you bring a gift that has to do with the theme in a gift bag. If you pokeno you choose a gift.. Then the twist. After all the games are won, it becomes like a white elephant christmas. If you win you get to steal whatever gift you want. But the person gets to keep the gift bag. After time has ended for the game (2 hours). The last pokeno wins the pot, $1 per person.

We will be drinking of course. Theme will be Naughty Nights, so anything that has to do with SEX.
*Ran out of room*

After the game we will be heading out to the club for a night of dancing and drinking.

Christmas Gift Idea for a Mom?

Jagamom

I know this is a redundant question to ask here, but I'm bored, and might as well ask you guys.

So my mom is 52 years old, she's Asian, and I don't have any idea on what I could get for her this Christmas. She doesn't do a lot other than work, cook, clean. And she has been having arthritic problems lately so that's something. Any good gift ideas?

Answer
I am a working mom and the one thing I would love to have is more time - I don't want to spend my time doing laundry, making beds, cleaning the bathroom, shopping or cooking.

I would like to finish a book I started reading four months ago; but can't because I don't have time.

Do you see any ideas there? Find a way to let her enjoy the Holiday because that is what she is working for for you.

Alright, so I recently got accepted into the NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) at my intermediate school, I'm a 7th grader. At the end of every quarter, it is required for us to turn in our service hour sheet, which informs the Advisor what we did over the given period of time. Any ideas on what kind of things I can do for my service hours? they suggested helping out at the library, don't really remember anything else. Thanks for your time.

Answer
t's a tough job to find a good gift for your boss. But help has arrived!

Step 1
Talk to your boss's spouse or significant other if possible. Find out her favorite type of food. Ask whether there is a hobby or pastime she is passionate about. This will help you choose a restaurant and a gift. Your boss's assistant or secretary might also be a good source of information.

Step 2
Take up a collection for a group gift, card, decoration and the boss's lunch. Designate someone to shop for the gift and card, someone to buy and set up decorations, someone to plan the lunch and someone else to order and pick up the cake.

Step 3
Decide whether to whisk your boss off to lunch at a favorite restaurant or have something brought in. If you have room in a conference or other area, a lunch at the office will be more intimate than a noisy restaurant. However, if your boss is the type that always eats at his desk, heading out to eat might make it a more special occasion.

Step 4
Decorate with lots of streamers and balloons. If you are not able to find a specific "Happy Bosses' Day" banner, a great big "Thanks!" sign will do the trick. Find a gift that suits your boss's personality or corresponds with her hobbies. If you are not able to discern what she might like, there are many general "boss" gifts you can purchase at gift shops or online.

Step 5
Give each staff member a notecard at least a week before Boss Day. Have them anonymously write something they appreciate about your boss. It can be a specific memory or just a general attribute. Have one or two people read the cards aloud during lunch.

What are good gift ideas for a 4 year old boy?

marie c

I wanted to get him a 3-wheeler for his birthday, but he will not get much use out of it being winter is almost here. I need some ideas on a good fall/winter b-day present for a 4 year old boy no more than $50.

Answer
Arts and crafts items are great for keeping young boys occupied indoors (without them being glued to a tv or computer screen). Try washable markers with a superhero cartoon coloring book, or a themed play-doh kit (like the Backyardigan's pirate ship - or even play-doh by itself), a water-color book, construction paper and glue... this list is endless. You could create a gift bag full of an assortment of these items for not a lot of $. Boys that age really love to create, explore, imagine, and then admire their handiwork!

Do you have ideas for 10 year old boy's gift?

My grandson is 10 years old and in the 4th grade. He's athletic but has lots of footballs, basketballs and sports equipment. He has one of those new Wii video games already. I've been teasing him saying he's going to get underwear for Christmas if he doesn't give me any ideas. Do you have any suggestions?

Answer
A book. Boys do actually like books. They don't like fiction much, but a non-fiction hardcover book with great pictures and small captions usually goes down well. They won't read large chunks of text at first, but will read captions for pictures. If it grabs them, they'll go back and re-read. My brother when he was 8 was given a little book on solar power and one one wind power and read those two books over and over for the next two years. I don't think he read anything else, but he really got his money's worth out of those two! Boys like to know how things work, and often like history too. That can be mummies, pirates, aztecs, space, whatever. The stereotype of boys is that they are into nothing but sport and video games, but you'd be surprised (or hopefully you won't be) at their little academic minds. I'd suggest this one: http://www.amazon.com/Yours-Truly-King-Arthur-Drogin/dp/0800887662 I haven't actually seen the book myself yet, but I have it marked down for when mine are a bit bigger. This one too: http://www.amazon.com/Gateway-Medicine-Living-History-Library/dp/1883937752/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1195772272&sr=8-1
Or a Kubb set. We're having fun with ours. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubb They don't need to have pretty turrets on them, or be painted, but you can if you want.
