I am trying to find something the kids can make for their great grandma's 90th BD party...the kind where they tell you no gifts...and mean it.

I want to make a cute card or something (something she can enjoy and then dispose of if she wants)....like a poster board sized card with different pictures and sayings that the kids draw and decorate but I am at a loss as to what to do actually..I have the theory, but my design is lacking!

It's the holiday time and my bf wants to get his boss something since he knows he will be getting a nice holiday bonus and just got a raise. We were thinking a gift certificate to a nice-ish restaurant for about $100. That is about the amount it would cost for a drink or two, entrees, and appetizers at this restaurant. Is that too much//too little? Should the gift cert idea be scrapped altogether? It's slightly awkward to have your boss know the amount you spent on them but at the same time he's getting a bunch of cash from his boss for the holiday so maybe it's not so weird after all. Maybe you could get her a book - one that's on the best seller list right now. Does she drink coffee? Maybe a nice coffee mug - you could fill it full of little things or make her a gift basket with a mug and a book and some pens, bookmarkers, etc. (with a little candy - maybe some chocolate!) You could add some hand lotion and just some little inexpensive nick-nacks to fill the basket up.

Now, as a massive Timesplitters fan myself, I believe the biggest symbol of the series to be the trademark Monkey, so if I were to be receiving a Timesplitters gift, maybe a plush version of that iconic Monkey would be a step in the right direction. Get her a photo album and print all her favourite photos that she hasn't got printed yet.

Dude, Japanese people in my experience love their merchandise. You live in an iconic area so I'm sure you can get something reflective of where you live. Caps,shirts(can be dangerous as you don't know their size), calenders or even images of where you live. You could try some 49ers merchandise. Japanese also love icons of the world so maybe a model of the golden gate bridge may be ideal or a snow globe of it.
I'm going to stay at a host family too and from Australia. Bringing boomerangs, koala pushes and wombat in a can(it's just a stuffed wombat in soup can, just bringing some Aussie humor).
