30th birthday gift ideas...?

nena

I originally wanted to get my best friend 30 individually wrapped things (small little things) for her birthday but I think it'd be better if i broke it down into 3 gifts; one for each decade of her life. The only problem I have is what to get her... maybe a gift representing her first 10 years ... perhaps candy or a doll...... then her second decade 10-20... (this is where I'm stuck)..... and from 20-30.......i've got a few things in mind but wanted to see if anyone has anything to throw into the pool of ideas. Or if not the 3 decades then anything else you might think would be nice for her 30th would be appreciated ^_^ i sill love the 30 things to unwrap but would that be too much? hmmm....

Answer
Mabey her second decade could have her favorite movie or song . You could also do a This is Your Life kind of thing where you do a whole picture collage of her throughout the years and top it off with someone giving out a story about her at that time in her life. Then just give her a Doll from the 80's (Cabbage Patch), Favorite movie- a 90's movie mine is (Dante's Peak), and Now-(whatever you think she likes now). Mind you these are just ideas. I know her taste differs than mine. I'm 33, so we aren't that far in age.

What are some great gift and party ideas for my wife's 30th birthday?

dug_amy

Answer
Hi
don't give her an appliance as these are like saying here this will make thing's a lot easier around the house.Something just meant for her is so much nicer, jewellery ,gift voucher's for lingerie, a day being pampered. Here are some examples of theme's for birthday parties.
I went to a 60's birthday bash and the entertainment was live with song's from the 60's era and we were dressed to kill in the 60's garb.( Think fancy dress,a reunion, base the food around what ever it is the party theme is focused on. Memories, what year it was what food ?).You could invite 30 of her best and dearest friend's/family, have 30 of her favourite food's, thirty chinese lantern's or candles set around the area set for entertainment (be safe here) get my drift?
I also went to a birthday party and the theme was cocktail's. Dress was evening wear, guests were limited so only those who meant alto to the person were invited, never mind if friend's were single and couples. A few women from the local play centre/school were asked if they would like to earn some extra money by preparing what was on the menu (finger food's such as mussels in shell, prawn's wrapped in pastry funnel's, fresh bread ham on the bone and condiment's anything you desire(this is only an example).Dont forget something to go with coffee and tea for those who may have done with the alcohol.Oh and non alcoholic drink's..Hope this is of help to you.

Is this a lame gift idea for a woman?

It's all a

My girlfriend of one year has a birthday coming up soon and the automatic dishwasher in her house has been broken and unusable for many years.

I am thinking of buying her a new one for her birthday.

Is this a lame gift since it is so utilitarian?

PS We are both middle aged LOL

Answer
Not a great gift at all...a gift should be something the other person can enjoy UNLESS you know she wants one and cannot afford it...something personal in addition to that would be nice though...

I need christmas gift ideas!?

bunnylvr7

I am doing a gift exchange with my friends. The limit is ten dollars and i need to find a cute little gift for one of my friends. A few years ago, i gave this friend a nice stationary set for her birthday and i put some cheap, plastic monster finger puppets on the top of the gift, mostly for decoration, and she liked the finger puppets more than the stationary. That should probably give you a little sense of what her personality is like, she wont like anything serious or normal for christmas. She's a little crazy but i love her to death (like a sister).

Answer
Try Spencer's they have alot of great and funny things. Cheap too funny keychains that make noise. They have fart machines. go there be prepared to stay awhile. If I have aproblem with gifts I go there or cook cookies lol

christmas gift...?

Q. well my boyfriend and i have been dating for almost 2 months. we had a "thing" for each other for about a month or 2 before that. we do have love in our relationship. and we just recently found out that he is moving from Kansas to Montana. and what i want for Christmas from him is jewelry. i kind of want a promise ring. like to promise that he will still stay truthful and everything to me while he is in Montana. we still plan to stay together when he is moved. so is a promise ring a reasonable gift? only serious answers please! thank u much!

what are some cool DIY gift ideas?

beauteimpa

I am having a crafting party with my friends and I am looking for some cool crafts that we can do.

Answer
make Christmas tree decorations:

You can get little wooden shapes, stars, bells, etc. paint them and sprinkle some glitter on them while paint is wet. Make sure there is a hole, if not make one, on top. Tie a narrow ribbon through the hole for hanging.
Get dollar wooden frames and paint and decorate them with your own designs, butterflies, etc.

These supplies are so cheap at craft stores.
Or you could get some different sized boxes, glue some pretty paper on them as gift boxes. You could just cut out some flowers from magazines and glue them on

DIY Gift Basket Ideas?

katiebear1

Every year for Christmas, me and my boyfriend exchange gifts with our best couple friends. I buy for the girl, my bf buys for the guy. We;ve been doing this with the same couple for 3 years now.

This year I wanted to try something different and put together a cool gift basket for her. So far all I have is 4 black tuxedo martini glasses. I want it to be really cool and chic but am stumped on what I can add, any ideas?

I got the glasses for a steal, all 4 for $10 and theyre really cool, I was thinking of maybe going with a black and white theme or something, but Ill up to hearing any suggestions. Im a little hesitant about scented things cause Im not sure if she'd like whatever scent it is that I pick out.

What do you think would be cool things to put in the basket?
Shes 22 if that helps.

Answer
I know this is scented, but you could try organic or hand made soaps, there are some stores that have really nice ones.
You could try desert toppings (like really nice chocolate or mango topping).
A small parstle of more expensive chocolates from a choc place.
Some jewellery, earrings, bracelette, necklace.
A gift voucher or CD etc
Something homemade (cookies/card/art etc)
Bottle of wine or champagne or other drink.
Something to compliment the glasses, like plates, candles or cocktail mixer drinks (in sachets) that can be used with the glasses.
Bath stuff, like a robe.
If she is into toys, like teddy bears, Look around there are some nice ones.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Newly Engaged Couple?

Miss Olivi

A close family member got engaged this year. What are some good Christmas gift ideas? Should I get them a joint gift or separate ones? The wedding is next year (in 2013) so they're going to have bridal showers, etc. and I know they'll get tons of house things and wedding gifts.

I do know that some family members haven't been taking their engagement very seriously (mainly just due to age), so I'd like to get them something that says I'm supportive of their marriage, etc.

Any ideas?

Answer
You could try to get them a wedding planning book/magazine, no one usually buys them for a couple.

I'd say other than that get them a gift voucher at a nice restaurant so they can go out together, make sure to attach a card congratulating them and offering support.

Ideas for my track coach's wedding gift?

Jacob Swer

Hi! My girls team track and cross country coach is getting married very soon. About 8 of the girls who she coaches wanted to get her a gift or make her a gift. But she's moving away too at the end of the school year. What's a good idea for a going away/ congratulations gift? We want her to remember us by it but we don't want it to be all about us if that makes sense. Thanks!

By the way, I'm a girl! I know the account name is Jacob but that's cause I'm on my brothers account.

Answer
I think a giant card and a really, really nice stopwatch would help her remember you all. Or you could get a running-related gift engraved with something like "Roosevelt High School Track 2013. Best wishes, Coach Garvey!" (Her married name if she changes it).

Cross Country Locker Sign & Gift Ideas ?

RunningIsL

We have secret sisters for state/region in cross country.
we make them signs and get them gifts before regions & state.
any ideas about what to get my "sister" or any good locker sign ideas?
I'd like to not just give her candy but im thinking like maybe some cute gifts
as for the signs -- im thinking of writing Good Luck and putting some cool running quotes??

Answer
As far as the gift goes, the reusable water bottles are great and something she'd probably use. They're fairly inexpensive and just a good gift that runners use. For posters, just say something like push it in or something and have a sweet animal on it. Everyone loves disney too, so you could always just do a princess or something that doesn't relate to running.

Anyone have any good gift voucher ideas for places in Portsmouth, UK?

Kimberly

Hi there,

I'm looking for some Christmas gift ideas for my brother and his wife, but they're moving to Portsmouth in the UK in January (we're currently in Australia) so most things I get them will be pretty useless as they've already shipped most of their stuff so all they can take with them will be what's in their suitcases.

I was thinking that it might be a good idea to get them a voucher for something over there. Perhaps a nice restaurant, or maybe a good easy to get to department store so they can get things to set up their new house. Trouble is, I have no idea about what's in and around Portsmouth. I've looked up some sites on it and I found some restaurant names, but the areas they're in mean nothing to me (I don't know where exactly in Portsmouth my brother will be living) and I can't tell that much from the few reviews I've found.

If anyone has any suggestions of good places to get them a voucher from, or even any information about what's in the area, I'd be really grateful.

Thanks =)

30th birthday gift ideas for guy?

LilMissSin

Just started dating a guy. He's turning 30 in a few weeks. We're not official yet. What can be some ideas to get him. I hate getting gifts for people. Don't want to get anything too expensive or too cheesy. Not too sure about a gift card or anything... I know he's a cop... I don't really know him too well yet to think of anything. I don't wanna freak him out either. Something simple...Any ideas?

Answer
I wish you'd said what you mean by not too expensive. One person's not to expensive means nothing more than $5000, another person might mean nothing more than $20.

Here is a great gift (again, i have no idea what your budget is) and it will last him forever. You can have it monogramed. It's a silver money clip from Tiffany's:

Answer
Found this, Should be helpful:

Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Active Aries is always looking for ways to stay in shape, particularly during the holiday season... so athletic equipment is usually a good choice. People born under this sign are also fond of the color red, so a cranberry scarf or a scarlet hat could win their favor. If romance is in the air, let Aries know that you put his or her needs first. Buy tickets for two to a sporting event you loathe... or a CD by an artist you can't stand... to win big points with your favorite Ram.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus appreciates any gift that appeals to his or her sensual side. A box of gourmet chocolates, a richly colored tapestry or a soft cashmere blanket are all great options for Bulls. This sign also enjoys having money to play with, so a gift certificate to their favorite store is a welcome option. Always remember that quality is more important than quantity â Taurus would rather have a small bottle of expensive cologne than a carafe of the cheap stuff.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Quick-witted Geminis enjoys gifts that appeal to their sizable intellects. A challenging book is always welcome, as is a magazine subscription. This sign rules the hands, so some scented hand lotion or a sparkling ring might delight. Geminis also love to entertain, so a set of glassware might fit the bill. If you want to splurge on a special Twin, give them the latest cell phone or PDA, so they can keep in touch with their gazillion friends.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Sentimental Cancer loves gifts that have personal meaning. Handmade items always delight, whether it's a finger painting, angora sweater or mincemeat pie. This sign also has a special affinity for silver â a monogrammed hand mirror or picture frame would be very well received. Since Crabs have an affinity for liquids of all kinds, a special bottle of wine, a fancy cappuccino maker or a shiny tea kettle are also good possibilities. And don't forget that these Moon children love the domestic arts â a cookbook specializing in comfort food is another sure winner.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Lions love gifts that make them look and feel terrific. Hair accessories, cosmetics and grooming items are all good choices for this image-conscious sign. Leos love drama, and enjoy presents that involve a bit of flair. Opera tickets, gold jewelry or animal print lingerie are right up this cat's alley. Leos also love to gamble, so a sheaf of lottery tickets or a weekend getaway to the casino could make them purr with delight. When shopping for clothing, remember that Lions have a special affinity for red, gold and purple.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgins love practical gifts...so avoid dust-catching baubles. A bread-making machine or a power drill would be equally welcome. These folks are also known to pride themselves on their impeccable appearance. Scented soaps, lotions and shampoos made by an earth-friendly company might be just the ticket. Virgos are also incredibly organized and might appreciate a good watch or a leather-bound date book. Or try a health-conscious basket of organic foodstuffs.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Librans have a special affinity for music, and always appreciate a good CD to add to their voluminous collection. If you want to do something really special for a Libran friend, splurge on a two concert tickets â this sign hates to do anything alone. Born beneath the sign of the scales, they also need plenty of balance in their lives, so a pair of candlesticks or bookends might appeal. If you're still stumped for ideas, have a lavish bouquet of red roses delivered accompanied by a loving handwritten note.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpions are secretive by nature and enjoy gifts that obscure their appearance in some way. A pair of designer sunglasses, a filmy scarf or a slouchy hat are all great choices for this sign. These mystery-lovers also enjoy moody, atmospheric stories. A collection of film noirs on DVD are sure to go over well with your favorite Scorpion. The rumors concerning this sign's sexual appetite are happily true, so seductive lingerie would get plenty of use. Since Scorpions also like to get beneath the surface; a gift certificate for a deep-cleansing facial will be appreciated.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
As far as Archers are concerned, half the fun of getting gifts is ripping them open! If Sag doesn't like a present, though, he or she will tell you outright. Avoid awkward scenes this holiday season by giving this outdoor enthusiast some camping equipment. Hiking boots or a water-proof parka would also be appropriate. These animal lovers adore any gift associated with their pets. A calendar filled with pictures of dogs or horses is sure to elicit a big smile. Finally, you can always feed this sign's wanderlust with a comprehensive atlas.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Career-oriented Capricorn always enjoys gifts that will boost their job status. A leather laptop carrier or monogrammed briefcase would be welcome. Contrary to popular belief, though, Goats aren't all work and no play. This sign is blessed with a wicked sense of humor, so try the BBC's "The Office" series on DVD. Capricorns also love luxurious presents they'd never buy for themselves, like a silk bathrobe.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
You never know what this unpredictable sign will be doing from moment to moment â one week it's skydiving and the next it's yoga! Still, this quirky sign always appreciates technological gadgets, whether it's an all-region DVD player or an iPod Nano. If you'd like to choose something a little more personal, why not make a photo album detailing all of your exploits with the Water-Bearer? Aquarius may not show it, but they harbor a special fondness for their friends. Still stumped for ideas? A basket filled with brand new socks is both weird and practical enough for this sign, which rules the ankles.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
These mystics love gifts of all kinds, but especially ones that help them escape the harsh realities of life. A bottle of champagne, a kaleidoscope or a book of fairy tales will appeal to your Fishy friends. And because Pisces is a Water sign, it's a good bet they'll appreciate bath salts, foaming cleansers and shower gels. If you'd like to give something really special, a digital camera will make a bit hit with this natural-born photographer. Looking for a romantic gift? Choose a gilt-edged volume of love poetry.

Cheers!

Christmas gift ideas for my future inlaws?

Donna C

Last year, before I was engaged to my fiance I gave his family a big basket that was just filled with a variety of things that they all like. It was good and appropriate because I didn't know them too well. This year I have to step it up a notch....

I'm thinking about giving his 3 sisters (one teen 2 young adults) snuggies (those blankets with sleeves). I really think they would like it, and I don't think we're close enough for personal gifts. Any other ideas?

Also...I honestly have no idea what to give his parents. We're also not too too close, but we're working on changing that (I live 4 hours away so its taking some time). Any ideas?

Thanks!

Answer
I've got an easy out.

Your fiance should purchase the gifts for his family . . . as supposedly he will know best what they would like. He puts both names . . . his name and your name . . . on the gifts as the givers.

You do the same . . . taking care of the gifts for your side of the family. You add future hubby's name to your gifts.

My advice? In gift-giving circumstances, act like you are already married. Buy one set of gifts for each side of the family. Put both bride's name and groom's name on the gifts as givers.

By buying only one set of gifts (not two), you two can save all that extra money for the wedding.

Gift Exchange Ideas?

LeeLynn17

Our family continues to grow as well as the list on my christmas list. I am all for ideas where I don't have to buy everyone something. What does your family and friends do?

Answer
We buy a gift for our parents, sometimes the three of us pitch in for one big item, other times just small things. We also buy for all the nieces and nephews because they are all under 5, but that will be come a gift exchange in the future between the cousins. All the adults exchange names and there is a $35 limit.
On my inlaws side, gifts are only purchased for the kids, as Christmas should be for the little kids to enjoy. Christmas has become too much about buying gifts and not really about enjoying time with family and if Christian, Jesus Christ.

Man get her the 2010 FifaWorld Cup Germany team jersey. Make sure you find out if she does not has it yet. Try to find out who her favorite player is and find that jersey. It won't be hard man, Soccer is huge there and you will find that jersey everywhere. I hope this Helps!!

Useful homemade christmas gifts for dad?

Q. I want a gift that is useful and creative. Looking online for this only turns up gifts for dad form small children. I am in my teens, so I want it to reflect that, in the sense of not being a childish gift. Thank you all in advanced for your help.

Answer
My dad always loved ANY gift that was handmade so I'm sure whatever you can think of will be appreciated. With that said, if you are crafty I would suggest using whatever it is you like to do to make something (not too feminine) for him. Or maybe you could do something you have never done before an the effort would be an added bonus. I am 23 and I just learned to cross stitch about a year ago, so I could cross stitch the badge of my boyfriends beloved football team and make it into a pillow for him, maybe you could do something like tat or something that you could frame and hang on his wall. =] Hope I was helpful!

What's a good christmas gift to give my dad?

I know it a little early for Christmas but i want to find out if they have it in stores or if i need to buy it online. My dad says he doesn't want anything of course but i still want to get him something hes really into computers cause he works for computers but i don't have enough money to get him a computer or a laptop and we have to many already i have a ton of computer mouses so that would be not be the best i was thinking of a customized mouse pad but I'm not so sure. PLEASE HELP remember 10 Points for best answer

Answer
1. You could get him a gift card to one of his favorite catalogs he receives in the mail. Or, stick to the safe side and get him an Amazon.com gift card.

2. If he works with computers then he's probably smart. Smart dad's dig magazines such as Scientific American, The Economist, and Consumer Reports. Or you could go out on a limb and get him a subscription to one of my favorites, Mental Floss-- it's full of a wide assortment of random and interesting stuff.

3. What are his hobbies and interests (other than computing)? If he's into history, get him a cool book-- one that is "coffee table"-worthy. If he's into space, get him a DVD about the Hubble or dark matter. If he's into sports, spring for a couple of tickets to a pro-game near you.

4. Get him something completely ridiculous from Archie McPhee. They have the best assortment of completely corny, funny toys and gadgets. (Pirate flags! Band-Aids that look like bacon! Inflatable toast?!) Awesome store. http://www.mcphee.com/shop/

5. Get him a smoking jacket, a la Hugh Hefner. Better yet, get him a Snuggie. (Wait a minute-- strike this idea altogether...)

Good luck!

Best Father's Day gift under $60?

Tidus

I'm 17 years old, still looking for another job for the summer. Thats why budget is so low. Anyways, looking for a great Father's Day gift in that range. Any ideas? Thank you so much!

Answer
There is a new movie out this week, it's even on sale most places like circuit city or target: the Bucket List. It's a buddy movie, a good dad movie, Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. If you want to make it fun, you could make a gift basket out of an actual bucket, with this dvd and some other treats - can of cashews, Mr. Goodbar, maybe some socks and other dad things.

Answer
Urban decay makes really great palettes. My favourite is the eyeshadow ammo box, their $36. The deluxe shadow box is great too, that one's $38. Sephora is also still selling the UD Book of Shadows palette Volume 3 in which you get A LOT of product but most of the shadows are very glittery so make sure you like glitter before you ask for it! Good luck!

Boyfriend Birthday Gift Ideas?

Scarlett F

Hellooo.

I'm having such a hard time picking out a gift for him even though I know his likes. We've been together six months, so I don't know what going to far would mean. I also don't want him to think that if I get him something expensive, I expect something expensive back when it's my birthday.

Anyways, he's a few things he likes:

He writes music - Maybe a journal to write his songs in? I'm having a hard time finding a decent one online, any ideas?

He's a huge The Beatles fan. He likes 60's/70's/80's music but he has A LOT of CD's already. Wouldn't know what he has or not.

He's 23 btw.

He plays the guitar and the bass.

He's a shy guy for the most part.

He still uses his walkman and carries his cd's with him everywhere... I was thinking an Ipod? But... Would that be too much?

I also saw this The Beatles throw that I think he might like.

Please Help! Anythiiiing anythiiing will be of help!

Thanks! :)

Answer
Since he still uses CDs, you could be all old school and make him a mix. Put songs you think he'll like and songs that remind you of the two of you.

A music journal is a nice idea. Have you seen the ones that have blank sheet music in them as well?
Like this: http://www.themusicstand.com/64-Page-Six-Stave-Student-Blank-Music-Book-p/567781.htm

Or here is a nice music themed regular journal: http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Home-gift/Musicians-Black-Notebook-Manuscript-Paper-for-Inspiration-and-Composition/e/9780762403691/

I'm a fan of Etsy and they specialize in a lot of vintagey stuff so you may find some 60s/70s/80s music themed stuff there. It's all unique and make great gifts.

They have a ton of Beatles related stuff apparently! Check it out:

An iPod is always an excellent idea for a music lover but it's up to you to try and feel out how he'd react you getting him something expensive. But like another poster suggested, Nanos and shuffles are also great options! You can even get a Beatles skin for it!

Whatever you get him, I'm sure he'll love it :)

My Grandfather 70th birthday Ideas what to get also as a 2nd gift i'm doing a shrit ideas for a saying?

Sondra

ok I wanna get him something but haven't a clue.So any ideas??? I know he's retire milatry guy and works in his farm alot. Also I've got some left over iron on stuff from son party so I'm doing a picture on a shirt of him and my son. Which he loves. He took my son at his party away from the rest of the crowd and hide behide a tree and just played for a while. And my sister got some great pictures of the two of the together. My son is his only great grandson. And So I wanna put the picture on a shirt with some cute little saying. I know some will say he's never gonna wear the shirt or stupid answers like such. I don't care if he wears it or not its just something sweet I wanna do. Also we don't call him grandfather or grandpa. He is called Pappa Joe. Because grandparents spilt and remarried.

i'd like whatever the saying on the shirt be something cute not about his age though. Like world great

Answer
As far as a gift goes, what my Dad really enjoyed when he turned 80 was the gift we got him for just pennies! We got the microfilm copy of the newspaper from his hometown on the day he was born! We made copies and put the pages on butcher paper. He was fascinated to see what had been happening on the day he was born. How much houses were selling for, what stores were having sales, who died on that day and did he recognize the names, what the weather was like, etc. etc.
As far as the shirt goes, how about a picture of the two of them on the back, and one of just your son on the front. Underneath your son's picture put "I love my Pappa Joe!" I'll bet he DOES wear it!!
