Parents: What's a creative way to display your children's artwork?

Q. My 3 year old daughter comes home with tons of artwork she does at school. I want to show her that it really is important to me, so I'd like to display some of it instead of just putting it away in her baby book.

Any inexpensive ideas?

A. Some inexpensive ways to display the art:

1. Create a gallery with wooden pants hangers (the kind with two flat boards that pinch the pants). Hang them in an arrangement of 6-8 and you'll have a rotating gallery for your child's latest and greatest.

2. Hang a long piece of clothesline against one wall and use clothes pins to layer in the artwork. Over time, you'll create a beautiful and eclectic mix of "masterpieces."

3. Create a calendar by scanning in the images and using a service online. (Also makes great grandparent gifts!)

4. Old shutters make a mobile display. Simply find a pair of tall wooden shutters and use binder clips to attach the artwork to the slats.

5. Laminate the art and create placements to use for special occasions or everyday.

6. Make them your secret "happy" - Tape the art to the back of your kitchen cabinets and while you are cooking or unloading dishes (two chores most of us dread), you'll have a little something to make you smile without cluttering up the kitchen.

7. Designate a basement or closet door as an art gallery. Paint the door with magnetic paint, then top with a coat of chalkboard paint. You'll have a message center / art gallery that's changable!

Birthday gift for an 8 year old girl that Ive never met?
Q. One of my good friends got married about 2 years ago and tomorrow she's having a birthday party for her husbands daughter from a previous marriage. I don't know anything about this girl but think it'd be rude to show up without a gift. Any ideas?

A. Here is what my little 8 year old sister says
BAby dolls
BArbies
Jewelry
Girl stuff
she says It depends about her personality she says to call

What are 8 year old girls into now? I need to buy a gift for an 8 year old relative. No gift cards.?
Q. Need to buy a gift for an 8 year old girl. Have no idea what 8 year olds are into. Thanks. She went through the Barbie Doll phase and has a million Bratz dolls and accessories.

A. I did this for my daughter and she loved it!

Go down to your local dollar store here it is "Dollar Tree" Stock up on items like:

Makeup brushes, nail care set, lip glosses, eyelash curler, body spray, body glitter, cream eyeshadow in pastel colors, light scented perfumes, bath beads, pastel fingernail polish, etc.... Buy a nice basket and a couple of dollar ballons (helium) you will have made the ultimate pre-teen gift basket. The great thing about doing this at the dollar store is you can put a larger variety into the basket....she will love it! Plus if she is having a sleepover they will all enjoy giving each other make-overs.

Any great ideas for my one year old daughters birthday party on October 8th? I know she wont remember it but?
Q. I want to make it extra special! Themes games any ideas are greatly appreciated! She may not remember it but I believe memories and pictures can be cherished forever!

A. For my daughter's first Birthday (which was in October as well) I did a slide show with songs in the background. I added pictures of when of my baby shower, labor, deliver, 1st month of age all through the 12 month.
It was such a big hit! This slide show will become a gift to her when she gets older.
As far as games are concerned, I did pin the tail on the donkey, however, I helped her pin the tail. We also got pinatas and had her hit it (with my help of course)
Lastly, I had a bubble machine and liet her and the other small kids pop them. She and the rest of the children had a good time.

My daughter will be 2 October 3rd and I'll be getting a jumper, 2 pinatas, and a face painter for the children (another idea?)
