Anybody have extra ideas or suggestions for a party?

Q. I'm throwing my mom a gold and diamonds themed party for her birthday in April. Does anyone have any extra ideas or suggestions they could give? Thanks in advance.

A. Clear diamond gems (plastic or glass) in footed pedestal balloon glass with inner straight glass and gold candle. White tablecloth, diamond ring napkin holders. Gold foil covered bricks with helium balloons above eyesight level as centerpiece on table, curling gold ribbons dangeling down. Clear plates on gold chargers, stemmed clear goblets with gold ribbon touches.
Failing to obtain gold chargers-- use gold runners down table.
Crystal or cut glass serving pieces with gold trim if available.
Rich, yellow gold flower arrangement with sparkling crystal looking bow.

Pictures of mom in various ages & activities in golden frames arranged on golden tree of life. Could do a cake decorated like a golden crown with icing jewels. Make your mom a "Queen for a Day" for her birthday. Spa, hair, makeup, gift certificates for favorite activites in Golden envelopes.
Grand kids or siblings or friends can get in the act with coupons for yard racking/mowing, laundry, dishes, other house hold duties, trash pickup, meals at eating places, movies, electric, gas, shopping, etc. Type of coupons would depend on mom's needs.

What are some creative christmas gift ideas for my sister in law? (<$50)?
Q. My sister in law recently purchased a high priced kitchen table for a early Christmas gift. I don't have a lot of $ to spend on her but would like to get her something very neat that she will cherish. Does anyone have any good ideas?

A. A tablecloth or runner for the table might be good, or some simple but elegant centerpiece might be nice if she wants to have the table looking stylish when it's not being used.

I've noticed that you can get some good deals on vintage table linens in antique stores, thrift shops, or church fairs. I got a really pretty cloth from the 1930's with a neat art deco print. It had never been used (still had the tags on it). You might be able to find some high-quality linen or embroidered cloth that you could wash, iron, and tie up with a pretty ribbon.

You might also get a very simple glass bowl for a centerpiece between meals. Clear glass with some polished rocks or marbles might set off the table. A nice basket to hold fruit would be useful and decorative.

Or you could make her a runner for the table. Just get some nice fabric (a couple of yards of some interesting textured fabric, maybe?) and either hem the edges or finish them with some decorative edging.

I think you could also get a set of place mats, trivets, or hot pads to insulate the table from hot dishes for under $50. Those would be useful and also protect the the table.

What to get an adventurous runner for Christmas?
Q. I'm trying to find the perfect Christmas gift for my brother. He's a nineteen year old college kid. He's a crazy runner - just did the World's Toughest Mudder last weekend. I want to get him something unique, like the Survival Straps he just bought. Anyone have any ideas?

A. If you love your brother a lot, get him the soleus watch. It is made specifically for serious runners. It has a GPS, calculates current and total running distance, speed, water resistant and a heart rate monitor to make sure he's not pushing himself too hard where its unhealthy. This is the watch I'm talking about...

If you love him but your budget isn't high, your brother will really like the ironman flix watch. It's good so your brother can store all his training logs and workouts to see his improvements. It has a lot of functions without making the watch complicating. Good to keep track of all of his best running times. Would've been perfect to take on his tough mudder event.

Timex Ironman Watch

Any christmas present you buy your brother will ALWAYS be a great gift regardless if you buy him the watch or not.

Hope that helps. Merry Christmas!!
