Its almost my sister's 18th birthday! what would be a nice present?

Q. so its almost my sisters birthday.
and i have no idea what to get her.
as important as big 18 is i wanna get her something special. i only have the budget of $50. please make me a list!

A. nice jewelry--something sentimental (ie heart locket, "Sisters", etc..)

clothing?

a nice dinner out + a small gift

a gift certificate to her favorite store

Ask yourself what her likes & dislikes are and then go from there. Anytime you give someone something they have an interest in, you usually will please them. Like with me....I'm a quilter. I'd be thrilled to get nice fabrics....scissors....scraps.....a mixed assortment. My brother once gave me a sewing machine & a sewing chest filled with notions; he'd gotten them from a friend and then gifted it to me. I was thrilled to death! SO! Think about what makes her happy and you'll find your answer..... Good luck. Hope she has a great birthday.

A. Make or design (and have made by a local quilter) a beautiful baby blanket. I'm pregnant and that would be something that would have a lot if meaning and be a keepsake forever.

PS. You can even get family photos copied onto fabric. That would be really neat for her and the baby to look at and treasure.

purple quilt-any quilters out there?

Q. I received the "quilt letter"and piece of fabric from my mother in law. The idea is really great but I don't know anybody who quilts or sews for that matter. I need 4 people I can send a 6 inch square of fabric with the letter but I want to make sure they will continue the fun. There is no money involved just fabric! You send two 6 inch squares of purple fabric to a person on the top of the list attached to the letter than you remove that persons name from the list and add yours. Last step is to send 4 letter with piece of fabric in each of them to 4 quilting friends. You should receive 130 squares in return,which is enough for a charm quilt.

I received a sewing machine as a gift and I am very new to sewing. I've made other things but this would be my first quilt. I'm very excited about it and I hope it will work out.

To Little chick: I'm not doing it for a free fabric. I have yards of it laying around everywhere. I am doing it because it's a wondersful idea. If you couldn't help why did you have the need to stop by and write something negative? Why not just move on?

A. I'd love to help you, but the Purple Quilt Letter already went through our quilting guild, so I wouldn't have anyone to send it on to.
