Why is race such a big thing?

Q. The main thing we should worry about is being human. Worrying about race is stupid because it doesn't define who you are on the inside. And for the people who think it matters, it doesn't. We are all one. We are human beings.

A. Interesting commentary about race.

More like, why is race such a big thing to white people.

3)Dr. Robert Knox- wrote a book called -races of men - quoted in his book he wrote - "Can the black race become civilized, I think not" This book was widely circulated and said the superior races will dominate over all the others".He said its a war of extermination and one race or the other must go.

4)Samuel George Morton- Cranial pseudo scientist from America - he came to an unscientific conclusion that just because people had different head shapes, they must be different species, that everyone else but white people had the possibility of not being human at all.

5)Charles Darwin - Survival of the Fittest theory - During the time Britan was exacerbating famines in India - most white people believed that this was playing out because Indians where so easy to rule over, therefore social Darwinism gave them an alibi to commit atrocity all over the world because genocide was sanctioned and encouraged.

6)Sir Francis Galton - the guy who invented eugenics. Galton concluded that it was possible to produce "a highly gifted race of men" by the process of selective breeding, which he later termed "positive" eugenics. Discouraging the reproduction of "undesirables", in other words, anyone but white elites would be sterilized, hence the sterilization of Indian women in America, and America at large, using poor whites, blacks and large segment of the population.(1904) Namibia genocide, first death camp.

7)Mein Kampf - written by Hitlet -By the end of the war, about 10 million copies of the book had been sold or distributed in Germany.Clubs sprang up in the USA and worldwide for touting the book's ideas

8)Eugen Fischer -He was one of those responsible for the Nazi German scientific theories of racial hygiene that legitimized the extermination of Jews, sent an estimated half a million Gypsies to their deaths, and led to the compulsory sterilization of hundreds of thousands of other individuals, deemed racially defective, such as the Rhineland Bastards, the mentally ill, and the mentally challenged.

9)Johann Friedrich Blumenbach (11 May 1752 22 January 1840) was a German physician, physiologist and anthropologist, one of the first to explore the study of mankind as an aspect of natural history, whose teachings in comparative anatomy were applied to classification of what he called human races, of which he determined five.
Blumenbach divided the human species into five races in 1779, later founded on crania research (description of human skulls), and called them (1793/1795):
* the Caucasian race or white race
* the Mongolian or yellow race
* the Malayan or brown race
* the Ethiopian, or black race
* the American or red race.

10)Joseph Arthur Comte de Gobineau (14 July 1816, Ville-d'Avray, Hauts-de-Seine 13 October 1882, Turin) was a French aristocrat, novelist and man of letters who became famous for developing the racialist theory of the Aryan master race in his book An Essay on the Inequality of the Human Races (18531855). De Gobineau is credited as being the father of "modern" racial demography

Throughout history, who has created the most advanced and affluent civilizations?
Q.

A. India has made the most inventions and discoveries!! India's intellectual contribution is more than every other civilization combined! The 19th and 20th centuries are the only 2 centuries that India was not the wealthiest civilization on the face of the planet. From when time began, up until, and including the 17th century, India was the centre of the world & was also the wealthiest civilization on the planet! THE WEALTH IN ANCIENT INDIA WAS MORE THAN TWICE THE WEALTH OF THE REST OF THE WORLD COMBINED! India is the world's oldest and oldest continuing civilization I will give you a few quotes for you to make up your mind:

We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made.
- Albert Einstein

If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered on the greatest problems of life, and has found solutions, I should point to India.
- Max Mueller (German scholar)

India is, the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most instructive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only.
- Mark Twain

If there is one place on the face of earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India.
- French scholar Romain Rolland

Besides the discoverers of geometry and algebra, the constructors of human speech, the parents of philosophy, the primal expounders of religion, the adepts in psychological and physical science, how even the greatest of our biological and theologians seem dwarfed! Name of us any modern discovery, and we venture to say that Indian history need not long be searched before the prototype will be found on record. Here we are with the transit of science half accomplished, and all our Vedic ideas in process of readjustment to the theories of force correlation, natural selection, atomic polarity and evolution. And here, to mock our conceit, our apprehension, and our despair, we may read what Manu said, perhaps 10,000 years before the birth of Christ: The first germ of life was developed by water and heat. Water ascends towards the sky in vapors; from the sun it descends in rain, from the rains are born the plants, and from the plants, animals.
-Louis Francois Jacolliot (French diplomat & author)

The multiplicity of the manifestations of the Indian genius as well as their fundamental unity gives India the right to figure on the first rank in the history of civilized nations. Her civilization, spontaneous and original, unrolls itself in a continuous time across at least thirty centuries, without interruption, without deviation. Ceaselessly in contact with foreign elements which threatened to strangle her, she persevered victoriously in absorbing them, assimilating them and enriching herself with them. Thus she has seen the Greeks, the Scythians, the Afghans, the Mongols to pass before her eyes in succession and is regarding with indifference the Englishmen - confident to pursue under the accidence of the surface the normal course of her high destiny.
-Sylvain Levi (French Orientalist)

Since you also mention China, here is a quote from Hu Shih, the former Ambassador of China to USA:

"India conquered and dominated China culturally for 20 centuries without ever having to send a single soldier across her border."

Any one who has even a half - decent grasp of history would not even utter China in the same breath as India as India is a much more ancient civilization that has contributed a hell of a lot more than China! In fact, The Chinese learnt Yoga, martial arts and Buddhism from India! The first priest of the Shaolin Temple was from India! So let us understand human history before we make ludicrous comparisons!

Would it be appropriate to give my online b/f a Rakhi thread for his wrist? A small gift, sort of?
Q. I have just started a relationship with a man from India. I noticed the threads around his wrist in his photos. I would like to send him some really pretty ones.

Also, if this is not an appropriate thing to send....can u recommend small gifts from the USA that I might send him. Ones that could fit in an envelope, as shipping is so expensive!
