Appropriate gift ideas for a young couple?

Q. I'm going to be visiting an old high school friend and her boyfriend at their new home. It's not really a housewarming party. She won't be having a party, but I would still like to bring her something.

Any gift ideas?
They're a young couple, working and going to college.
They have an infant daughter.
They are strong Christians.
Artistic types.

Also, no alcohol. I'm not old enough to buy it, they aren't old enough to drink it.

Ornaments are always difficult because of personal taste, you may love something they hate or visa versa so I would avoid anything to do with furnishing.

I must say that I find it a little odd that a strong christian couple who are not old enough to drink are living together out of wedlock and have a child. 00

Q. I live in Australia and will be visiting friends from the US soon and was wondering what I should give to them (females and males) as gifts? Preferably something useful or unique to Australia that the US doesn't have. You can list clothing brands etc that Australia has but the US doesn't. That would also be helpful. Seriously, try to find some locally made craft items rather than major brands. Nowadays mass produced stuff looks identical everywhere. Don't you have unusual types of minerals or mother of pearl of other stuff from the sea that is mande into interesting jewellery?
