How can I get help for christmas I'm a single mother of two kids?

Q. Please any information will be helpful I'm a single mother of two wonderful kids I just left a bad relationship with their father ...I don't have much money so I really need help for christmas thank you for taking your time to read this god bless you

A. Hi there, I know times can be tough when you don't have a lot of cash to spare- especially at a time like Christmas, and so I have a couple of suggestions of how to make your money stretch a little bit further :)

If you have the time, homemade gifts are always appreciated. This could be a knitted sweatshirt, scarf or hat, some home-sewn Christmas pyjamas or a toy teddy made with love. One awesome homemade gift idea is sweet bouquets, which are super cheap and easy to make but look incredible!
Buy a few of their favourite chocolate bars, a giant lollipop, maybe some Christmas themed chocolates etc. and arrange them into a fancy looking bouquet!

Depending on the age of your children, you can create 'packages' to fit with their hobbies. These can be super affordable depending where you buy the bits-and-bobs and are certainly cheaper than ready made hampers and gift baskets that you can buy.

Ideas:

- For older girls you can make a 'pamper package'- a simple box or basket containing pampering items. These could include a face cloth, bath or shower products, nail polish and files, a hair accessory, a relaxing CD (easily created by burning music from iTunes), and some chocolates.

- Another package idea is a baking hamper with an apron, oven gloves, a spatula or whisk, cupcake cases or tray, and a simple kids cookbook. You could even handwrite (or type up) your own cookbook of family recipes.

- A gardening gift basket is popular with kids who like to be outdoors. It could contain a pair of gloves, a mini shovel, some seeds and a cute colourful watering can.

- Crafty kids would love a gift box of craft items, such as paint and brushes, crayons, felts or coloured pencils, buttons, sequins, paper off-cuts or scrapbooking supplies.

- A 'movie goodie pack' can be done one of two ways- either a couple of the kids favourite DVDs, or a pass (or two) to the local cinema, along with some popcorn, a drink, and some snacks (such as small bags of lollies or chocolate bars).

Another suggestion I have is the Toys For Tots organization, which can be found here:
http://www.toysfortots.org/

Their aim is to supply brand new toys free to children around America who may not have enough money to get them usually. I'm not sure where you live; you might (like me) not live in the USA, but a range of this kind of organization can be found around the world.

God Bless and I hope you and your family enjoy the Christmas period :)

I love Chicago, and want to make something crafty to show my adoration for it... Any ideas?
Q. My friend is in love with Texas, and made this: http://tinypic.com/r/21dfk84/6
(we're from Wisconsin, btw)

I think it's adorable, and so crafty, and I want to make something crafty and similar for my love of Chicago, but I'm having trouble coming up with ideas. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

I've tried searching for something of inspiration on Pinterest, but no such luck..

A. The first thing that came to mind was the CTA map. You know, the one with all the trains on it, Red, Pink, Brown, Purple, Blue, Orange, and Green lines. They have gifts at http://www.transitchicago.com to maybe give you some further inspiration, but I've always liked the graphic aspect of the route map, which was patterned after London's famous Underground map.

What's another Chicago symbol? Besides the Tommy gun, which is almost a century old and part of the past that most of the city is trying to forget. How about the Chicago Theater sign? Then there's the Cloud Gate (aka The Bean) sculpture in Millennium Park, the red Wrigley Field sign, Sears Tower (sorry, only tourists call it Willis), the Picasso statue in Daley Plaza, the Field Museum, the Hancock Building, or just the skyline? Most of those are iconic structures and would be easily recognizable in most forms, though there are undoubtedly others I've missed or that have more significance to you.

How to render them would be up to you because I don't know your level of training and experience, what kind access you have to tools, or your budget. I hope I didn't just point out the obvious and you maybe have something to start with.

what are some idea to make homemade gifts?
