Are Money and Gift Cards Tacky Gift Ideas?

I mean I prefer to give ppl money and giftcards as presents. Only reason is that way I don't get them the wrong thing, they have to option now to get what they want and I don't have to worry about getting someone a crappy bad gift.

I prefer myself to get cash/cards too because that way I can get what I want, and I don't have to worry about if a person gave me the receipt(spelling) too.

I agree with YOU, and don't care if it is a lazy way. I think some of the absolutely horrible gifts I've gotten over the years didn't take any thought either. Give me the gift card. No more "stuff" to sit around my house to be dusted. No more clothes that don't fit. No more crap bought on television or Internet sales that is junk and doesn't work (remember those knives that could also be used as bath towels? Just TERRIBLE). Gift cards, the way for men to go.

Q. I want to get my mom a great gift for Mother's Day! She's the most awesome mom EVER!!!! Is a gift card to her favorite store to buy clothes a good idea? She hardly ever buys herself anything, she's always spending her extra money on me and my dad or stuff for the house. I want to make sure she buys something for herself and she could use some new clothes. What do you think? And what are you giving your mom for Mom's Day this year?

A gift card to a clothing store is a great idea. Just make sure you get her one to a womans clothing store so that she does not use it to buy you some clothes.

What I was thinking about doing for my mom for mothers day is a flower arrangement from my florist. Or, I may go with an indoor plant. It is kind of hard getting her the right plant becasue she lives in an apartment.

I am not a fan of gift cards, I do know what they are and I know the fact is that people like to give them out as gifts, and I have been on the recieving end of them, but never on the giving end. It seems like that I figre that people give these out as gifts to wiggle thier way out of giving somebody an actual gift. So I will give out some questions here, and heopfully, I will get some good answers out of you. Wha do you think is the most popluar store that people buy gifts cards from? Why do you like to give them out as gifts? How much do they cost? Are they the same as the amount that you give out, usually it will be $25.00 is the abou the usual amount that people like to select. So were are talking about gift cards did you give them out as gifts this holiday season, and if so how many did you give out? Did you get any gift cards, and if so how many did you get?

I will give a K-mart card to a friend for a belated Christmas present, she will be thrilled, she'll love it, and a Walmart card to her daughter[she sews and they have yard goods]. One to another friend from the orange chain hardware store, that is what she wants and asked for. And one to Michaels to another friend, who is totally impossible to buy for.
The amounts are all for $25, because that is about what we spend on each other.
The first two are getting the cards because they had no money for presents this year, they spent the money on a nice family dinner, and on a gift for their preacher's wife who cooked a fabulous dinner for the whole church, and gave each head of family a pie.
I love gift cards, I have one waiting for me to go spend it, it's for $15, and is for Walmart. I'm as bad as a kid, can't wait to figure out what to buy. And I give them for that reason, people can go buy something useful, or put it with their own money to buy something bigger, or just go buy what they did not get for Xmas. I prefer to buy at the discount chains, so they can get the most bang for their buck when they go to spend it.
Illinois just past a law in which gift cards do not expire, nor decrease in value in this state. Cool! and Walmart already had that policy.
Among my friend's Walmart is the most popular choice for a gift card. We have a brand new superstore near, and the novelty of it has not worn off yet. One store I know charges a buck for a card, all the other stores it is free, one even gives out an envelope, another has a envelope that folds into a little box. . The stores make their profit for the cards that people do not ever spend. I forget how many millions the news article said the stores make from people do not use the cards that they bought, or were given.
I did not get any gift cards this year. But I have not had my Xmas party yet, it got postponed due to weather.
I gave the reasons above for the cards, impossible people, requests, poverty, kid in a toystore [me at Walmart] theory.
And yes, I still believe that it is much nicer to go buy a present, and wrap it up. If only my friends liked this idea, too! But I always either wrap the gift card, or at least find a gift bag, in a color they like.

I need a UNIQUE gift card idea!?

We are exchanging unique gift cards and I need some ideas. It can't be for gas or Walmart, it has to be somewhere that you usually wouldn't go to, but if you had a $50 card you would. Some ideas I had so far are Omaha Steaks, a few nicer restaurants in our town and some online shops. I would love some input!!

You can find a lot of ideas at the Gift Card Mall. https://www.giftcardmall.com/ . How about a SpaFinder gift card for a facial or massage. For a guy, Home Depot. AMC theaters for a nice movie. DSW for shoes, the possibilities are endless. But, for a unique experience I would go to a nearby small gift shop or eatery to see if they have gift cards/certificates.

Q. i know this isnt a big problem or anything i just want some ideas/suggestions. my sisters 16 birthday is coming up and i dont know what to get her . i could spend up to $35 on her gift.
anyone whos ever been 16 their opinions would really help.

If you're thinking Gift Card make it personalized.. not just her favorite store.. make it something she likes... does she want a manicure/pedicure, gift card it there... (I also like the idea of a gift card in a cute present like a pic. frame) Does she have a cell phone? Get her a phone case, or a phone stand...

Does she have her licence/car? Get her a decal, or a cute steering wheel cover, or a cd case or a gas gift card if she drives around alot......Does she like movies, gift card it at the theater... Take her go carting, mini golfing, out to a fancy fancy restuarant (her meal may be free, so youd just pay for yours) Get her something she usually doesn't get herself that she likes... a nicer perfume (Herbergers) an expensive dress, coat, purse, or shirt she's been looking at lately.... I'm sure you'll find SOMETHING!! Good Luck!

What are gift ideas to give for a wedding?

My friend is getting married soon and I plan on gifting her for her bridal shower and wedding. I spent around 70 for her bridal gift. What should I give for the wedding. I am hoping to not spend as much for that gift. So that mean I want to avoid giving her cash or a gift card. Any ideas for affordable gifts?

I think a gift basket would be great. Pick a theme, like kitchen utensils, arrange them in a nice pitcher or a large bowl. Bathroom: soaps, washcloths, toothpaste, plunger, etc in a small trash can. Mostly, think of all the little things you forget about when you first move into your own place. Cleaning supplies, nails, spices! The personal touch will make it sweet, and the relief when they realize they don't have to run out to wal-mart for that little extra for dinner will make a great memory.

This is also an idea I came up with on my own, thinking it would be really cute if someone did it for my own wedding gift. If the couple's last name is also a brand name, buy a basket and fill it with those things. My soon to be name is Hines. So, we would get ketchup, mustard, nuts, Duncan Hines baked goods. Or you could do a similar thing with their first names.

Where can I buy a gift card for my friend in Brazil?

I am in the US and my friend lives in Brazil, I want to buy him a gift card to a store that he can use there, like a clothing store or book store or even a Walmart. I've looked on a few various sites and I couldnt find anything that offers gift cards.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Lojas Americanas (a big department store all over Brazil) has gift cards:

But they ask for your CEP when you order--CEP is a zip code within Brazil.

The expression for gift card is "vale presente".

I'm not sure if you'll be able to order gift-cards, but you could order a book, CD, or DVD from a Brazilian store & have it delivered in Brazil. You have more luck ordering a gift to be delivered to your friend's house than ordering a gift card.

1. Restaurant gift cards to take their spouses/significant others out to dinner.

or

2. Something sentimental that includes pictures. A plaque with a team photo, signatures, a video with the team members honoring your coach, etc...
