Mother-in-law christmas gift ideas?

Q. My MIL has everything she needs, and I wanted to get her a digital camera for christmas but her daughter said she wouldn't use it. I want to get her something that is nice and that hopefully she will like, My budget is around $100 for her. If you guys have any ideas please share them with me.

brandy, first of all please don't do gift certificates, or gift cards. to my way of thinking they just scream out "i couldn't be bothered trying -so here go buy something". of course thats just my thought. but here is what my d.i.l.'s have come up with.
my first daughter in law was apparently in the same boat, so she decided to buy me a charm bracelet, not those new-fangled things that are flat, but a proper charm bracelet, and then for special occasions she finds new charms to give me. in fact when they wanted to announce they were expecting their first child, they bought me a baby bootie charm for my bracelet!
my second daughter-in-law started me on ornaments. these are 'willow' ornaments, and every christmas i receive a new piece.
my third daughter-in-law was at a total loss until one day she overheard me saying i had never had a pedicure or manicure. now, every christmas and birthday i get sent off for both!
so think along the lines of my beautiful d.i.l.'s......and find something you can add to as time goes on.

Gift ideas for in-laws?

With Christmas coming up I am planning out my shopping lists as I do every year. This year however I am having an extremely hard time with gift ideas for my Boyfriends family. We have been dating for over 5 years, and every year its the same thing.... They total dislike everything we get for them and every year I am sure that they return it all. The things they can't return they re-gift or throw in a closet!
This year I do not want to waste my time energy and money on such ungrateful people. But I have to have something for them. Any suggestions? Thanks!

As far as the ingratitude...I know, I know. I have a family member like this. Can NOT be pleased. You know what? I give something each year anyway. They're always perfectly nice gifts and somewhere along the line, somebody in the family will probably use them. You have a big heart. You want to give. That's all that matters...IMO.

Gift ideas?

Q. I have a huge family and I need some gift ideas...in order for me to get everyone a gift I have to start now and buy here and there...
I need the gifts to be inexpensive but nice.
Last year I made every one gift baskets with a coffe cup and a gourment coffee and a flavored creamer with choco dipped spoons. I need a new idea. Here are the people I have to buy for, give me your ideas.

Father in Law- A sweatshirt of his favorite sports team, for the outdoors, depends- if he hunts there is a million thigns you can do- but maybe a bird watching book, binoculors, something like that

Step mother in law- Get her a couple of different martini glasses, there are so many different kinds to choose from! Find out what scents she likes, youcan never go wrong with a Yankee candle- those are the best!

sister in law- a gift certificate to her favorite store- she cant break that!

I'm 21 and by boyfriend is 22 and we have a 10 month old baby boy. My boyfriends mother has gone above and beyond being a grandma to my son, she's really been there for us with money problems, when we need a sitter, when I was transitioning from maternity clothes to normal clothes and didnt have any, etc. etc. My family is there for me, but she really has just made me feel so welcome in theirs and I want to do something special for her but I'm not at all sure what would show her the thanks that I want to give her. I dont have alot of money, but I'm expecting my tax return soon and I'm willing to spend what I do have...any ideas?

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two and family would know about - include things about your pregancy and the baby. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and tons of baby pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

Maybe you should go visit your local Christian bookstore and see what they have that catches your eye. Does she like to read? Maybe you could get her a book - one that's on the best seller list right now. Does she drink coffee? Maybe a nice coffee mug - you could fill it full of little things or make her a gift basket with a mug and a book and some pens, bookmarkers, etc. (with a little candy - maybe some chocolate!) You could add some hand lotion and just some little inexpensive nick-nacks to fill the basket up.
