Q. My best friend's birthday is coming up soon, and i have no idea what to get her. I have between $30-$50 to spend (in high school, and jobless) she is turning 17. I was thinking maybe so lotion and a stuffed monkey (she likes monkeys) any ideas...oh she has a bf so taking her anywhere is more than likely not going to happen :(

Do I buy his Mom a Birthday Present?
Q. I have gone out with a guy for the past three weekends. He asked me last week to go to his Mom's surprise 50th birthday party. My parents know his mom, and will also be attending. But should I still get her something especially from me, or just go in on my parents gift to her? I don't know her all that well yet, so if you think I should get her something...if you have any ideas as to what?! I really appreciate all your help!

I would say that it would be perfectly acceptable for you to take either option, but if you go in on your parents gift make sure that you do more than write your name on the card - at least say "happy birthday!" before you sign
if you want to bring your own present, by all means do it, don't go crazy though, you don't know her well, so a $5-10 is probably just fine, ask your mother or the man you've been seeing if there is anything in particular that would be good - or that would be really really bad :)
the one option you don't mention, and i'm glad you aren't considering it, is to go in on his present to his mom - it is too soon in your dating history to do something like that, even if he would be okay with it, his mother might be a bit put off.
have fun, and don't over think it too much - either way you go will be fine :)

What to get a girl for her birthday?
Q. So obviously I'm a guy. But I really suck when it comes to gifts. She's kind of a girly girl.
I asked my friend and she said to get her some stuff like Victoria's Secret.. Like fragrances/perfume/lotion or from bath and body works? Is that okay?
Or a giftcard to certain clothes?
What do you guys think? Do you guys have any other ideas? She's just a friend, so I don't wanna go buy her anything that might break that barrier.

A. Buy anything but keep it exactly equal to the cost of her last gift to you. If she spent $50 for your last gift return the favour. No sense you spending $500 on jewellery hoping she'll put out for you. If she calls you cheap throw her last gift to you right back at her. Who the heck says men must spend outrageous amounts on chicks when its not reciprocated? If she's just a friend, get her a GIFT card...no worries.
