Any Ideas for a special 60th wedding anniversary?

Q. My mom and Dad who are almost 90 years old will soon be celebrating their 60th anniversary. Besides getting the family together from all parts of the globe, what can we do that won't be too tiring? we want it to be special.

A. I don't know if this helps, but the traditional wedding present for 60th anniversary is Diamond. Since diamonds are expensive, and at almost 90 years old they probably do not need knick-knacks, get crafty.

-Make a CD of songs from the year they were married.
-Make a photo album with pictures of their lives together.

For my parents 40th anniversary party we did a photo power point presentation. I went and "hijacked" my parents slides and a few photo albums from the storage in their garage. I then spent a few weeks collecting pictures of family, friends, pets, houses, vacations, etc.; through the 40 year span. I made sure that there was at least one picture of all the guests who would be in attendance. It was a true highlight of the party! Even the guests were extrememly surprised when pictures of themselves popped up. It was great to see how we had all changed over the years. Then when it was over, we handed out copies of the presentation as favors.

If you do not know how to do power point presentations, go to the younger kids. My stepdaughter did the presentation for her "Grandparents". We saved the money of having to pay to have someone do it for us. It also helped my stepdaughter, who could not think of what to give them for their anniversary. She gave her time and effort, and they truly appreciated the gift she made.

We also had asked the people who could not attend the party to send cards with special messages. This way our parents knew who was invited, but were unable to attend, and knew they were special to them.

40th Wedding Anniversary Gift Ideas?
Q. My parents' 40th anniversary is coming up in about a month. My father passed away about 7 years ago. I want to give my mom a really special gift that honors them as a couple. Any ideas?

A. some photos or vedios with the whole family would be great, or just arrange a special trip for her to see the outside world or even making some friends

any suggestions on colors for family portraits?
Q. we are having family portraits made for parents 40th wedding anniversary and there are 19 people in our group ... any colors of clothing for suggestions so that we all don't blend in or some stick out like sore thumbs? We are looking at all of us wearing fall colors ..... and maybe each family pick a color and their family wear that one color! Help ... anyone!!!!

A. Darker colors always look the best. We did a navy blue one year with kahki pants and it looked really good. We did it outside and the photographer positioned us so we were facing the sun so the pictures would turn out. Guys wore a blue buttoned up shirt and tucked in there shirts and girls wore a light sweater. It turned out really nice. Then one year we did a dark red shirt with black pants or skirts. Guys wore a red buttoned up shirt and black pants and girls wore a light sweater with a black skirt. The pictures all turned out really nice. If you use light colors then your faces will look washed out. We never used them in big group pictures but I have used them in small groups. I hope this helps a little bit. I think that is a great idea for a anniversary gift!!! Is it possible for the photographer to get you a CD of the photos if so then afterwards for a gift to them from you personally (or a Christmas gift) you could put them online (A great website I use is http://www.snapfish.com the prices are really great!) and you could get them lots of great things from the photos. Like a pillow, or a blanket, or a puzzle with your favorite photo of the two of them (if your getting those done too) or you could use a group photo. Just an extra idea!!
