Q. My sister just announced that she is expecting. I would like to get her a present, not something for the baby, but something just for her. She is still very early on in the pregnancy, but she already has a ton of books, so those are out.
A. The most thoughtful gift I have recieved this pregnancy is a gift certificate for a pregnancy spa treatment and massage. There are many local spas out there that do it and it can be relatively inexpensive. It is especially relaxing when your muscles ache or back aches from the stress of carrying a baby.
Another great idea that I did for a friend of mine was we went at night (around close time where they wouldn't be busy or have any fumes) and we got pedicures and a manicure. It was simple but she got her feet massaged and legs and was nice cause she was far along that she couldn't reach her toes! Then we went and got smoothies (ice cream will do the trick too) and rented some movies for some down time :)

Blindfold Diaper Change Game - Sometimes very tired new mom needs to change diaper in the middle of the night with her "eyes wide shut". This fun game may be a time saver in the near future :) Watch mom-to-be or other guests make it right. /You will need a diaper and a doll./
Match The Socks Game - Put several unpaired pairs of different colors socks in a bag. Mix them well and give each player minute or two to pair them. Winner is a guest who at the end of the time paired the most socks. /You will need several, possibly 10 or more pairs of socks and some container to mix all of them/
Baby Food Game - Have each guest try baby food from unmarked container to guess what is it. Sounds pretty easy, right? Think twice... you will be surprised how many people will guess it wrong! /You will need unmarked containers. Put jars in warm water for 10-15 minutes to dissolve glue from the label. It will be easier to take it off . You may also use nontransparent paper and piece of tape to cover the label/

Name As Many Baby Items You Can Game - Have each guest write down as many baby products as they can name within few minutes. What is the ettiquette for a baby shower for a second child?
Q. I'm pregnant with my second child and just found out it's a boy (my first is a girl). Do people have baby showers for children other than their first?
We don't need anything (or want to ask anyone for anything) and can afford to get what we need. I just know all my family and friends will get us something anyway so I thought it might be nice to get together and give them treats and whatnot. What do you think?

A. As I understand it, it is acceptable (according to "etiquette") for you to have a shower for your son since your first baby was a little girl :)
I have two boys and I wanted to celebrate the arrival of my second son as well...but seeing as I already had everything I needed for his arrival (and "etiquette" says no shower for same-gender baby number two) My sister hosted a "casserole" shower for me instead! It was a lot of fun and in the invitations she printed up a cute saying asking the guests to bring a freezable casserole instead of a gift :) It was a great idea!!
