Appropriate gift ideas for a young couple?

Q. I'm going to be visiting an old high school friend and her boyfriend at their new home. It's not really a housewarming party. She won't be having a party, but I would still like to bring her something.

Any gift ideas?
They're a young couple, working and going to college.
They have an infant daughter.
They are strong Christians.
Artistic types.

Also, no alcohol. I'm not old enough to buy it, they aren't old enough to drink it.

A. I feel sure that they will be delighted with any gift you give them.

You could take a gift for the child, it is always safe to take a toy suitable for a child that age.

A plant in a pot, ask for one which takes little care if you do. A picture frame for a photograph. A box of cookies or candy. There are drinks which are not alcoholic which are rather nice, there some sparkling grape juices are intended for adults who do not drink alcohol and are very suitable

Ornaments are always difficult because of personal taste, you may love something they hate or visa versa so I would avoid anything to do with furnishing.

I must say that I find it a little odd that a strong christian couple who are not old enough to drink are living together out of wedlock and have a child. 00

Q. I am in need of good gift ideas for valentines day. My husband and I have been together for 4 years and we are both young, our early 20's. I thought that shopping for this holiday would be simple, but it seems to be getting harder indeed. I did make us resrvations to his favorite resturaunt, that we have not been able to get into for a couple years, but I want to buy him something nice as well.

A. first off, you absolutely rock.. what an extremely considerate and sweet thing to do.. i wish you were my neighbor!!

now, a nice anonymous thing you could do that would be greatly appreciated, not too personal and most useful would be to leave a nice plant with a gender specific balloon congratulationg them on their new baby and a gift cert to babies r us.. or even to your local supermarket. something theyll be able to use soon, a gift cert to a restaurant may not be used for a few months with the new little one around..

A. Go to LNT.com (linens n things) you can look at some stuff on their website, and even register on line. ask for bath towels, sheets, anything that you might need for the kitchen. As for food, Chips and dip, a veggie platter, and for a hot meal, buy some pasta, mozzarella cheese and some sauce, and make a ziti. Its quick, cheap and easy. Good luck!
