its my mums 40th birthday very soon and i would like to buy her something special that isnt very expensive, any ideas?

Get her something that lasts, so she'll remember a lovely day. You could buy her lots of tiny little things, like a necklace, a diary, a fancy pen, a picture frame, some chocolates, a tiny teddy and a nice perfume. It's lovely to open a gift bag and have lots of presents inside. Maybe even make a few things to go inside? You could do a drawing or write her a poem. I wish her a happy 40th and you good luck in getting her some lovely presents :)

I am going to the 40th birthday party of a friend of mine and I have no idea what to get her. She has everything! She will be traveling to China in the next few months to adopt her second daughter, so I thought maybe something to do with that, but I can't think of anything. I am getting desperate, the party is Feb. 10th. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can bring her a jade pendant. Jade is for good luck, which would be a nice thing for her to bring along on her exciting trip.
Another idea is a fancy journal to fill out during her trip. Something to remember the big event.
Or, a gift certificate to a local spa for manicure/pedicure, to pamper herself before she leaves.
Perhaps a digital photo frame (if too pricey go in w/someone else) to show off all the pics I'm sure she'll be taking overseas.
