Answer
Humm.. that sounds tuff. Maybe you could try:

Step 1: Go to Elfyourself.com
Step 2: find a photo of you dad
Step 3: make an "Elf" of your father,
Step 4: at the bottom, it says you can buy your own mug, computer mouse pad, etc. With his face on it!
That doesn't cost too too much if you had a little money.

Another idea is just take an old mug, cup etc. and...
Step 1: Get sharpened pencils, pens, scissors, markers anything else office like
Step 2: in bold marker, write "DAD'S NUTS AND BOLTS" and draw things your dad likes on it!

Very cute, and cheap

What does your dad like to do? Does he farm? interested in cars? sports? woodwork?
make a homemade calender for 2010 with photos of him with his cars, or at sport games. or just of his favourite thing to do! :)
I did that last year. turned out good!

Hope these ideas help! :D
Merry christmas!

Fund raising £3000 in a year and a half...is it possible?

lucy_m123

Im 16 and in 6th form and i need to raise £3000 by july 2010 for a trip to Uganda to help teach kids english.... do you think its possible? and if so, any ideas on ways to raise it? any suggestions welcome :)

Answer
First: yes it is very achievable
Second: be open to fund raising in different ways
Third: Capitalise on the fact that you are a young person and people / companies will be willing to help you out in achieving this goal for a worthy cause. - You hold more power than you think you do.

Fund Raising ideas include but are not limited to:
- having a draw for a gift. You can create gift baskets for various occassions - like thanks giving, halloween, christmas, valentines etc. Get a nice basket and then approach businesses - anything from hair cuts, spa stuff, kids stuff, cars, magazines, chocolates, food, flowers, golf - your imagination is the limit...but stick to your theme...Then approach about 20 businesses for a donation. Display your great basket and sell tickets. Voila...you've made $250 - $500 Sell your tickets reasonably. You may be asked by your city to get a license to sell tickets - under a charitable organization...depending on how anal they want to be with you.

Have a silent auction. Go with a theme. ASk for daonations to your worthy cause. The key is location and marketing the silent auction. Some hotels may offer you space for free - being this is a fund raiser. Parks are good too. its easier to piggy back onto an event that is already taking place. For example - if the local Rotary club is hosting an event - then approach them to see if you can get your silent aution to be held as some event. and voila... the pace is packed...you sell donated art work and make another $500.

Be a shadow server at a popular restaurant - and explain to all the customers yous erve that the tiops they give is going to your cause... you'll need to get the restaurant on board to advertise the event and pair you with a really great server.

Go on the radio or local TV morning show with a popular radio / TV host - to advert a fund raising event - 5 minute spot. No cost to you.

Think about the things that are popluar to your city / town and try to come up with an idea that can get you interacting with people at the event - and raising money. - oh yeah - christmas present wrapping at a shopping mall is a good fund raiser - enlist help of course. Get a company to GIVE you the wrapping paper ribbons etc... so everything is pure profit.

Approach a school board - or school staff to see if they have any ideas for fundraising....being this is about teaching.

Hope this is helpful. Best of luck raising the money and teaching in Africa.
