I need some good gift ideas for men - stuff that any man would like. Just as you can almost always buy bath stuff for women or gift cert to clothes store, what kinds of generic gifts do men like? I'm talking men in the 40+ year old age range. I already have stuff like gift cert to home depot, microbrewery samples etc. Ok guys out there - what kind of generic gift would YOU like to receive? Please try to keep ideas in the $20-$50 range.

Cologne, nail care kit, pajama pants, gift card to Total Wine and More(or some other upscale alcohol beverage store). I think I would try to stay away from the gift card thing though because it seems like you put less thought into it. Most men love getting manicures even though they don't like to admit it. And pajamas are always a safe way to go and you can get a good brand for under 50 dollars. You can get a great nail care kit for under 50 dollars and every man is diligent about taking care of there nails. Good luck!

what are some good presents to make for someone who just got out of the hospital?

Something bright and cheerful and a welcome home sign.. you can make the welcome sign yourself. and you can hang up some garlands and a card self made if you can.. with good wishes for her recovery.. and maybe get her some music to listen to.. or get her a book if you know what she likes.. as she may still feel a bit tired and weak and may need to rest a lot.. then it's nice to be able to listen to music or read a nice book...or a DVD if you know what kind of movies she likes to watch...apart from that you could make a variety of cookies and put them in a nice box....

you should make her homecoming an unforgettable day.. because tragically cystic fibrosis is a very dangerous lung disease.. kids are born with this disease.. it is congenital so it is present at birth....you are born with it.. and there is no cure for cystic fibrosis..it affects the lungs.. and the bad thing is.. in many cases .. people who suffer from this disease die in their 20's so your friend should have a very memorable homecoming.. and treat her as before she went to hospital.. don't mention the disease.. most people who have cystic fibrosis know that they don't have long to live.. they are feeling ok most of the time.. and at some point.. mainly or most often in their 20's there are about 3 weeks when they start to deteriorate and they don't have a lingering disease.. they die rather quickly.. within 3 weeks of getting worse. so she should have the best homecoming party you can think of.. and maybe some other friends can help out.. no tears please.. but it's that kind of disease that doesn't really show when in ones teens.. and when over 20.. in many cases it leads to death.. so she should have the time of her life now...

A young lady who has cystic fibrosis wrote this.. about her condition..

quote
Hi, My name is Norma Kennedy Plourde, and I live in Baker Lake, New Brunswick, Canada. I happen to have Cystic Fibrosis. My CF affects mostly my lungs and my digestive system. I get frequent respiratory infections, so I take antibiotics a lot, and my pancreas doesn't secrete enzymes, so I take pancreatic enzymes, plus a lot of other medications. I also happen to have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I am a 46 y.o. woman, have been married for 26 years, and am fortunate enough to have a beautiful, healthy 24 year old daughter without CF. I am a Registered Nurse, and worked in a hospital setting for 9 years, but no longer work due to my illnesses. I would like to educate and inform as many people as I can about CF. It is a genetic disease that affects approximately 3,000 people in Canada, and 30,000 in the US, plus many more throughout the world. It is a disease that affects the exogenous secreting glands of the body, and generates thickened secretions, therefore blocking proper functioning of certain organs. The organs most affected are the lungs and pancreas, therefore affecting breathing and digestion, but certain other organs are affected also. There is no cure as of yet, but we hope there soon will be. Research is ongoing, and great strides are being made! Whereas 40 years ago, not many people with CF lived past childhood, nowadays many can live into their mid 30's or more. Unfortunately, many people with CF are still dying way too early. Please support CF research...that is our only hope. I hope that my site will help you to learn more about CF.
