I am an American who might attend a traditional Muslim wedding in the United Arab Emirates. I have a wedding gift idea in mind: a very cute set of salt-and-pepper shakers. Since I've never been to the Middle East, though, I'm wondering if an Arab family would be consider this a useful, thoughtful gift.

Answer
I visited my in-laws in Lebanon last summer. They did not have salt and pepper shakers on the table. But if you asked for it they would bring them from the kitchen to use. They were always on the table when ever we ate out.

Would you give a copy of the Kama Sutra as a wedding gift?

This is a long range question. My son is approaching that age where he's thinking wife, kids whole nine yards. I have pretty liberal idea about sex whereas my ex- wife who raised them the majority of the time is more like a a pruritan prude. So would you give it as a wedding gift? or before? or ever?

Answer
Doesn't every couple need a little exploration? They might get bored with eachother eventually and need the book to refer to. Sex with some couples is a major problem. Or should I say the same ole sex. (example- positions)
