I know a woman who is retiring at 65 and I want to get her a gift. What would be an ideal gift for her?

Retirement, tho a happy time, is also a bit of a downer -- new retirees often think "who am I?" and "what will I do now, every day?" The need to keep busy... others don't understand it until they are "there" and it happens. So many are totally surprised when it happens too. So think of something she can keep busy with.
If she has a hobby, or travel destination -- what about books? (with a personal message written inside, signed and dated) Think of what she does when she is away from work.

I had to have five of my HS teachers write me letters of recommendation for colleges and I would like to get them something to thank them. I was thinking like $10 each... do you have any ideas? They are all women, by the way...
