My parents are having their 40th wedding anniversary in April, my mom wants to give my dad something he'll remember. whether its sentimental, or a weekend getaway for the two of them, we're both out of ideas.
Does anyone know of any romantic weekend get aways for two? how to plan it? where to go?

A romantic getaway would be the perfect gift. 2 of my favorite romantic getaways are:
Honor Mansion in Healdsburg. This bed and breakfast is my absolutely favorite b and b. They have thought of every amentiy you could possibly want. Sycamore Mineral Springs just south of San Luis Obispo. This is a romantic resort with a wonderful restaurant. The unique thing about this place is that each room has its own private hot mineral springs jacuzzi on the patio or balcony of their room. You fill it up on arrival and can soak in the tub in the privacy of your own room. They have a lovely spa. I love getting a massage in this quiet and relaxing spa.

A 40th anniversary is special. When my mother and father in law had their's. The family as a whole paid for them to have a portrait taken of themselves (with copies for us all) and we paid for a family dinner. Since then I have become aware of a great idea which is turning a favorite photograph into a painting.
