What should I get my friend for her baby shower?

Q. my very good friend will be having her baby shower soon.
i've never been to one, and i have absolutely no idea what gift i should bring.
what's a great gift for a an unwed sixteen-year-old mom-to-be? (irresponsible, but i <3 her.) she's having a boy.

A. You could get her practical things like diapers and wipes, things she will definitely need, but since you are a close friend you probably want something a little more personal...

If she doesn't have a registry, then maybe a record book where she can keep track of all sorts of things, how she feels, looks, her baby shower, baby names, and things after the baby comes too. Maybe some nice picture frames, a photo album, memory book, etc. or a photo package she can use while pregnant or after the baby is born.

Or you and some other friends can pool your money together and get her something more expensive like a stroller if you know she wants a certain one, or something she may not get otherwise as she is a first time mom, and probably no income.
