Help, I need a last minute gift idea for a 5 year old boy.?

resq-girl

I don't want to spend more than $25 and am not really sure what he likes as far as characters, etc.

Answer
If it's really last second then I would recommend you to give his parents money or a gift card for that amount so they know what he likes and they'll take him to his favorite shop.

However here are some alternatives
1) An action-man figure
2) A teddy bear
3) All boys love cars :)
4) A police car or fire engine to play with

That's about as much things I can think of :)

Take Care and hopefully you pick a great gift that he'd enjoy!

Great birthday ideas for a 13 year old?

secret_age

um i am turning 13. i want to have something with a small amount of people but i wanna go all out to spoil my friends and i . but heres the problem. i dont think my moma would want to spend 200$ on a party!!! HELP ME..

Answer
well. here is what i did for my 13 year old daughter(assuming your a girl) she invited 5 of her close friends. i bought 5 20$ visa gift cards and had each parent send there child with 20$ cash instead of presents. i then gave my daughter a 100 gift card of her own. i took the 6 Girls to the mall and they had a 5 hour Shopping day. so instead of my child getting gifts..she wanted it to be about the group instead of her(which i was very proud of). so my daughter had 100$ to shopp with and each girl had at least 40$ each. OMG they spent hours tryin stuff on..laughing giggling.... then i bought them all pizza for lunch. all in all it set me back about 300$ total..and my daughters birthday was the talk to the school the following monday. if your a boy..........well my favorite Bday as a child growing up was Pizza and a trip to the Nickle Arcade with my friends to play video games. that is a timeless birthday! for boys

Do you have any birthday present suggestions for a 2 year old?

Specifically I am looking for ideas of things that I might be able to help my 5 year old make since we don't have much extra money right now. The 2 year old is really interested in blocks, babies, and animals right now.

Answer
I'm glad you asked this, because my kids recieved from their Aunt and Uncle the most wonderful gift that lasted for years!

They each recieved a large plastic tote box that had their name written on it in in a black Magic Marker. My son's had the addition of his picture glued onto the lid. On the lid were stickers of the things my kids liked: kittens and birds for one and blocks, cars and trucks for the other.

In the box:

3 boxes of instant pudding (to fingerpaint with)

crayons

washable markers

sponges in shapes of animals and shapes

crayola washable paints

playdough (you can do the homemade kind w/ recipe attatched too)

pre-colored macaronis and shoestrings for stringing

bag of pre-cut foam shapes ($199 for 150 count at Walmart)

non toxic paste (easier for toddlers to work with)

a large vinal tablecloth (for an art mat)

a "Raffi" cd to set the creative mood (any children's music cd wiil do)

a child's size muslin apron with their name written on it (again, at walmart for $1.99)

and a box of clean up wipes (This was great for me, but also provided a great way to teach our kids that cleaning up after fun is the last part of play).

Since recieving these, we have made many, many art, creative and even dress-up boxes for other's birthday parties. We have heard over and over again that these boxes were the child's favorite present. The nicest thing is to hear this weeks or months after the party and to know they are still enjoying it.

As a mom, it was a great start to have such boxes. We added to them and changed the ingrediants of them as our childredn got older of course.

Hope this can be of some help or inspiration for more ideas.

Im not looking to spending a lot, they are well off, and his mom has kind of expensive taste. His dad on the other hand, is the complete opposite. She loves to cook and try new things. I have been dating their 16 year old son for 5 months, and i love his family..They are great to me, and i just want to get them something thats nice, something they will use. Im not a big sentimental person either..I was thinking of getting his mom a bath and body works basket, but i think it will be easier to just get them together 1 gift, unless you have ideas for his dad! HELP PLEASE!

Answer
I think the B&B gift basket may be inappropriate because you haven't known them long(5 months) and also you are younger. For now, I think you should do general simple gifts and later down the line you can start giving more personal gifts. Try something Christmas oriented. What about a nice ornament engraved with the family name(Things Remembered or Red Envelope.com norm have a nice selection of these for under $30). Or how about making/buying a Christmas gift basket with nice chocolates, etc. in it. Good luck

I am think about making gift baskets for people in my family for Christmas?

Megan M

Any ideas would be great.

I'm doing one for my sister and her husband and they have a 5 year old boy and a newborn girl- I want to make one basket for all of them.

One for my parents in law

and one for my mother- she just had her birthday and we got her a digital camera

Answer
Gift baskets can be so fun, you can do assorted flavor teas or coffees, hot chocolates, assorted snack cookies or baked goods, wine, for those with children include age appropriate toys (small ones) or an outfit. Jams, preserves or jellies, muffin or bread mixes. For the person you bought the digital camera for, include a small photo album, some small picture frames a package of batteries etc.

I have a 8 year anniversary coming up any good ideas for something fun and spicey, but inexpensive?

great gift ideas 5 year old image
Q. Just looking for something fun for an anniversary present. We have a 5 & 7 year old so we haven't had a lot of time for just us, so figured I could see if anyone knew of a unique but not naughty present idea to help us get some time to get back to just us.

Answer
My wife gave me a great little gift this year for our anniversary. It's called a Love Rock and you exchange it between eachother as a signal that you are "needing" them that day. It can mean that you want to make love, but we also use it for different reasons, like I need a massage or a back tickling. Most of the time it leads to something more, but it's because we want to not because we feel obligated to. One person gives the rock and that is what you do for that person, then they keep it for when they are wanting it. We committed to using it once a week each, so it keeps up meeting up twice a week for just us. You can find it at letsmakeloverock.com

What to get two very special teachers?

Barbara C

I have a 6 year old in first grade and a 5 year old in kindergaten. They attend a Christian school and their teachers have been so wonderful, I can't even describe it. My first grader has blossomed and has so much more self confidence and is ecstatic to go to school and my 5 year old, whom we had so much problems with at the public school, has become a totally different child between my husband and I working with his teacher. They are totally different children than they were a few months ago when they enrolled in this school. The first grade teacher is a woman and the kindergaten teacher is a man. Any unique ideas for an end of the year gift, or project my children could do to show our appreciation. We will be leaving to Kansas this summer so they will not see them next year. We want them to know how they have changed our lives as well as our children.

Answer
I taught last year and Ihave to say that I had tons of coffee cups all ready! One of my students's parents made a little scrap book of pics of me and the student . Another parent sent me a card during the summer with a small note from the child with a photo of the child. That meant more to me than a coffee mug ever could. Also, for you to acknowledge to the principal the impact this teacher has made upon your children will also mean a great deal to the teacher. Most of the time, principals only hear complaints and they appreciate it when they get the compliments about their teachers.

What to do about sexually inappropriate 'secret santa' gifts at work?

Lori

40 year old happily married mom of 2 boys. I work in an office where the women are outnumbered roughly 5-1 but everyone gets along great and in the ten years I've been there it's been an amazing work environment.
Every Christmas we do a secret Santa gift swap and have to get 5 small, inexpensive gifts, one for each day of the week preceding Christmas. We started yesterday. Typically at the end of the week we typically do not divulge our secret identity if we don't choose to.
My dilemma is that yesterday I found a small box on my desk from my secret santa and inside it was a pair of nipple pasties in the shape of wreathes. I was shocked and rather embarrassed. This morning I found my second gift and was reluctant to open it, and when I did I found a little chrome object with a jeweled head. bit of research online showed it to be a small anal plug!! Again....a bit taken aback. This afternoon when I stepped out to mail a few things I came back and a note was on my desk saying: "I hope you are not offended by the gifts, I just saw them and thought you'd look great in them! -Secret Santa'
I have no idea who is giving me these, nor do I think I want to! Our boss is in on the secret santa thing so not sure I want to go to him and not sure I want to take it that far. Besides, my boss is a guy and he's kind of a free-wheeling type and for all I know it could be him.
By biggest question is do I tell my husband? He would be pretty upset and most likely come to my office and demand to know who it was -not a great scenario. And also, if I find out who it is should I thank them and laugh it off as a joke and then tell my husband?
Never been in this position....
Edit: I might have believed it was a 'gag gift' if not for the note. A 'gag gift' might have been one item, but not two..and who knows? I might get similar items all 5 days. Not so sure I want one of my male co-workers picturing me in pasties and anal jewelry!

Answer
Those objects and the note fall well within the EEOC guidelines defining sexual harassment. You are well within your rights to report the matter to your employer. If the employer does not take action to prevent another occurrence, you can legally sue the employer for sexual harassment.

Keep in mind the only thing your employer could do to prevent another occurrence when the perpetrator is unknown, is to end the Secret Santa gift exchange. This will make you very unpopular with the other employees.

If you wish to retain your friendship with the employees who are Not sexually harassing you, it might be best to make a public display of looking in the boxes, then throwing them directly into the garbage can. You can bet your last dollar that your Secret Santa is watching to see how you react to his gifts. This should give him the message loud and clear.

If you decide Not to complain to management, don't tell your husband. No need of making him mad and causing a scene at work. Get rid of the items, if you keep them you will have some tall explaining to do if he finds them.

If you do decide to complain to management, by all means, tell your husband as he is going to find out when EEOC interviews him. If you decide to file an EEOC complaint, keep the items and notes for evidence.

Any gift ideas for my 5 and 3 year old boys?

Q. I'm looking for some great ideas for gifts for them for Christmas. In the $50 price range.
Any cool new things that are good for this age?

A. for the 3 year old they would be happier with smaller stuff versus big items. look for basic toys. hot wheels, crayons, little things like that. generally you want to look for one big gift and lots of little ones. the big gift could be a ride along car or something. Lego's are great too. anything that encourages creativity and learning is wonderful.

the 5 year old is probably old enough to have fun with technological things. for example, a leapster type toy. remote control cars and trains are wonderful at this age.
