One month Anniversary gift ideas?
Q. College age couple
One month anniversary
both guy and girl are practical but semi-mushy on occasion
guy happens to be a werewolf

(this is for a story, btw. i never celebrated anniversaries with my guys, so i have no idea what i'm writing about.)

i posted this earlier and got a bunch of werewolf wisecracks. just a regular anniversary gift idea is fine, but if you have a CLEVER werewolf gift, that's awesome too.

thanks

what movie is the one were a guy could read womens thougts and becomes a great lover?
Q. comedy movie

A. What Women want. A total sexist idiot is electrocuted y accident and awakens to learn he can hear women's thoughts. I LOVE that movie

Nick, a somewhat chauvanistic advertising exec hot shot, has his life turned haywire when a fluke accident enables him to hear what women think. At first all he wants to do is rid himself of this curse, until a wacky psycologist (played to perfection by Bette Midler) shows him that this could be used to his advantage! His first target is Darcy McGuire, the very woman that got the promotion he wanted. But just as his plan is beginning to work, love gets in the way... Written by Filmtwob {webmaster@filmfreak.co.za}
Nick Marshall, Playboy and Hot Shot in advertising, thinks he's God's gift to women. After a little accident, he discovers that he is suddenly able to hear what women really think. First, Nick is pretty disappointed when he discovers that his beloved macho behaviour does not exactly contribute to being desired. Then, his upcoming dream position in the company is being given to a new team member: Darcy, not only a woman, but a man-eating one, also is a very talented ad expert. So, Nick decides to sabotage his new boss by reading her thoughts and selling her ideas as his own. Unfortunately, love gets in his way. Written by Julian Reischl {julianreischl@mac.com}
Nick is an egotistic, rich, businessman who lives in Chicago. When his work is run by a woman, Darcy, who believes that they should "think like women", during an accident, Nick finds out he has the ability to hear what women think. At first, he thinks of it as a curse hearing even what poodles think. After visiting his psychiatrist, she convinces him that he could take advantage of his gift. Using it, he manipulates his boss by giving all of Darcy's ideas as his own. But then he falls in love with Darcy and he suddenly loses his gift. Written by Kara

first crochet project ideas needed?
Q. I am trying to teach my husbund how to crochet

I need ideas that will help him decide to learn this craft as he is driving me nuts cause he cant find anything to do

A. Here are some sites for you to check out but here is one I just thought of . Your husband can make blankets, sweaters, and many more things with this and give them as gifts. If he does this get some labels to sew on them showing he was the one who made them. If you need help with this e-mail me and I can tell you what to do to make the sweater. It is called broomstick lace and the first site here they show it in verigated colors but using only one color is beautiful. I made an afghan in cream and had just finished it when my daughter walked in. She never said a word but when she was leaving she picked it up said it it beautiful, thank you and then walked out the door.

What can I do for a 1 yr old birthday party?
Q. What are some cute ideas? I'll have cake, a separate mini one for the birthday girl to destroy, pizza, snacks, there will be gift opening, but what else? There are only going to be 12 people, no other children except maybe an 8 month old. All family. And should I have favors? I'm not sure what to do...

A. If there are no children you really do not need games..
Just have a little get together for your little one's special day..
sounds like you have it under control just remember the camera of course and sit back( as much as possible..lol) and enjoy!!!

What would be a good gift for an 18 yr old girls bday?

No more than like 100-150 dollars...

what are good ideas for Christmas gifts for my nephews and nieces ?
Q. they are 2 girls - ages 6 and 11, and 1 boy age 8.

I would like to keep the price for each gift low, like $10 or less for each gift.

thank you for your help

A. A book is always good. It is a gift that can keep on giving. The six yr old would probably like "Junie B" books, and the 11 yr. old would like any real chapter books -- try something by Meg Abbott. For the boy - any book that talks about farting, underwear, or other gross boy stuff is always fun.

Another great option - gift cards at their local fast food joint. I buy Burger King cards - then the kids can buy themselves a meal from ordering to paying. It makes them feel older.

Can anyone help with Christmas gift basket ideas?

Q. So money is a little tight this year and I though a great gift idea for my mom and sister would be a gift basket. I would like it to have a Christmas/winter theme. But I need ideas for items to put in it. I was thinking of homemade hot chocolate mix, a coffee mug, some super comfy socks. maybe some homemade cookies or even cookie mix in a jar. What are some other ideas? Thanks so much to all those who reply!

A. Dish cloths and dish towels are always appreciated! Also, a seasonal scent of antibacterial hand cream from Bath and Body Works is nice- something you don't really buy yourself, but would love to receive- nice to keep in your purse. Seasonal hand soap for the bathroom, again, something you probably don't buy for yourself, but would love to have!

What are good Christmas presents for my family?
Q. I need gift ideas for my mom, dad, and 17 year old sister. Nothing too expensive, I don't want to get my sister clothes either. I especially need ideas for my dad! Thanks!

A. These are PERFECT -- I bought them for my family a few years ago and they have asked for them each year since. They are cute, unique useful and more importantly AFFORDABLE! They are having a sale for the holidays.

I have also given them to friends, coworkers and used them for secret santas. Here is the website:

Very unique and cheaper gift ideas for a birthday girl going through tough times?
Q. My best friend in the whole world is turning 14 in a bit. She recently lost her mom and I want to get her something AMAZING! But Im the kind of person who doesnt give presents easily. I want a good gift idea for someone like her and a unique way to give it to her. Thanks!

A. I don't know if this is in with young teens these days, but when I was around that age I know Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul was a really great book to read through tough times. It covers a lot of topics and issues that teenagers face including death and many other things. So even after coping with her loss she can reference back to the book to deal with things such as puberty, dating, peer pressure, stress of school, family, friends... I mean just lots of things you go through at that age. I strongly beleive that this book might help her. There are also more version of the book each starting with "chicken soup for the(insert specific topic here)" but I would say go with chicken soup for the teenage soul. It'll be perfect for her.

What else can I give my mom for her 50th birthday?
Q. Ok so I was thinking that i'll give my mom 50 things for her birthday. I'm going to start from something big and start going down to something small. Can somebody give me some other gift ideas that a mom will love? Please. Thanks.

A. Organise a spa day for her and a few of her close friends, then send them to a salon and get their hair and make up done and then send them out for dinner. This might be a bit expensive, so you could split it with brothers, sisters and your dad maybe?

Get her really nice things for her room, like candles, a bed spread, cushions, a rug, a plant etc.

Get her a photo album and print all her favourite photos that she hasn't got printed yet.

A surprise party with all of her friends and family, you can do this for fairly cheap if you organise it properly.

If she's got a band or artist that she loves, buy her tickets to see their concert.

If she reads, get her loads of books that you think she'd like.

If she's into fashion, you could hire a stylist and send her shopping with a personal stylist for a day
You could also send her on a shopping trip to New York, Paris, Milan or London, depending on where you live.

If she's into music, but her a giant iPod and spend time getting all the songs she'd love and organise playlists and stuff.

When should I buy chocolate candies as gift for Christmas?

Q. I'm done with my Christmas shopping and this week I'm shipping all of the presents to my family in California.

Do you think it's a good idea to buy candies online (Godiva and see's candies) or buy candies at the store and have it ship along with the presents?

Beside that, I want to add candies to my nephew's stockings but I don't know when should I buy them. Can I buy them now? Would they melt before Christmas?

I have my heater on, since it's really cold and snowy outside.

Thanks people.

A. I LOVE SEES. LOVE IT TO DEATH! I've been eating Sees Candies since the 50's so that's been a long time. I just spent $170 (not even including shipping priority) at the Sees Store 2 weeks ago and I sent boxes to my loved ones in Boston. They do not have Sees there, only at the airport.

I do not buy pre-packaged Sees. I pick my own. I bring a list (by looking at the online selections) and I choose my own selection. They always love what I choose. I choose truffles, nuts, caramels, soft centers, so take your time, best to go when they first open so you're the first customer and there's not a long line behind you. That's the trick. The Sees store here at the mall always has tons of people. DON'T FORGET TO GET THE CRANBERRY ORANGE truffle. It's only around for Christmas and oh-so-delicious.

Sees will not go bad for weeks, and THEY ARE FREEZABLE, just tell the people you are giving them to that they can freeze if not eaten right away. I wish someone would send me some Sees. I'm already broke. :)

Bring a lot of $$$ because Sees is now $16.50/pound (?) Spendy but worth it. I used to live 30 miles from the factory when I lived in CA. It's truly the freshest candy and truly the best on the planet.

Have no fear getting it early. Better early and beat the crowds. Like I said, come when they very first open in the morning.

Good luck.

What kind of care does a Boston Fern require?
Q. What do I need to do to keep a Boston Fern happy. Its a Christmas gift and I don't know room temp, water schedule, fertilization, in short I know nothing about them. Please help!

A. Indirect or bright diffused light is best. They don't like full sun.
Moderately moist soil is preferred. Water thoroughly when just the soil surface is dry to the touch. Make sure your plants have good drainage. During active growth, these plants should be watered on a regular basis in order for the soil to remain moist. Try to use water that doesn't contains harmful chlorine. Or let your tap water set out overnight before using it for watering.

The Boston fern is easy to grow, but likes high humidity. Bright, dry conditions will cause yellowing and browning of the fronds. Misting a Boston fern from time to time is a good idea.
http://www.bigy.com/content/flrl/prep/care_fern.php

Try to keep the temperature in the range of 65-72 degrees.
http://www.plant-care.com/boston-fern.html

Here's a nice Q & A site on Boston Ferns:
During its growing season use a general fertilizer (20-20-20-, 10-10-10). Do not fertilize in the winter months. Resume when spring arrives. Boston ferns are tropical and really tolerate temperatures of 50 degrees and not much below that.

Good Luck! Hope this is helpful.

Where to host an event for 100 in Boston?
Q. I'm looking for a venue to host a workshop in Boston. The speaker dislikes hotels so I'm looking for something a bit more unusual. He's held seminars in garages and the like. Any suggestions? Thanks!

A. WOW, he hates hotels. That makes it very hardto put on an event! But you can use this to your advantage. If you show him creativity or that you are paying attention to something that is important to him, he will be impressed. Read his bio and do a little more in depth research on him. If he is willing to do it in a garage, it is good because he does not have the "big speaker" ego problem. He cares more about getting the message out, than he cares about ego. But you're never gonna fit a hundred people into a garage. You can fit alot in rented warehouse space, but you're also gonna have to pay for chairs and make sure you have bathrooms and temperature.

If the event is coming up when it is warmer, why not in tents outdoors at a park or at a area of cultutal or historic importance. Since you are in Boston there should be tons of these. How about a tent or even just a cordoned off area along the "freedom trail". This can be very inexpensive, tent rental is cheap, but remember "bathroom" facilities they are expensive. How about a scenic site near the water, how about the public gardens, the esplanade or quincy market?

I have held several events at our local science museum and art museum. I remember you guys have a big aquarium. This gives are real "classy" experience because you're tied in to the "big" charities in the area. The guests also find it fun and usually tour the museum before and after. I set up a docent (guided free tour) for the guests before and after. Museums give your guests admission with the cost of the event. You have several VERY classy and prestigious museums in Boston. The cost at the museum is only slightly higher than a hotel would have been, but if it is a subject that they care about, you could ask them to cosponsor. Your real issue is that if you have it at a museum, the guests are going to expect "gift bags". While you can usually get those free from local businesses, it takes ALOT of time and effort.

I've done several events at churches. They have all the amenities like break out rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, air conditioning and heating. Also it helps open "diaglog" to have it at a church. I coordinated a countywide workshop on addressing homelessness, several teaching events, several leadership events at churches. In some cases I have made donations to offset their costs, in some cases I have actually had them compete with each other to give me the "best" location free and all the amenities.

If you're on a budget, most local libraries can seat a hundred easily and this will be very cheap. But you should try to "dress up" the room. I invite a high quality local artists to do a showing on the same day I did an event at the "best" library in my area. Again libraries have all the amenities, bathrooms, AC or heating, and even small kitchens.

I''ve done events at city hall, but only before 9/11. I wouldn't even try now in a big city, but maybe in a suburb.

Don't forget to make sure your location has enough CLOSE parking. Don't forget to ge extra toilet paper, even in places you'd assume should have enough . I've seen seminars crash because of of this.

Good Luck! Post more details and we can probably come up with even more creative ideas.

How would one get in contact with the charity rep for the Boston Red Sox?
Q. I'm not sure how to go about finding valid contact information of a charity representative for the Boston Red Sox team.

I'm interested in contacting someone who may be able to have a baseball signed by the players upon my request for a friend as a gift.

If anyone has any information that might assist me with this, it will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance ~

A. I have no idea, sorry. Maybe ask on Boston Red Sox forum, there will be a lot more people that might know that then on here.

What are some good gift ideas to give my boyfriend for our 2nd anniversary?
Q. Okay, so our 2nd anniversary is July 1st, and I'm having trouble thinking of gift ideas. He's 16 and I'm 19 and we aren't going to kiss or anything until we get married so anything like sex is out of the question. Also it can't be too big cuz I don't know how much he'll be spending on me.
Last year I got us bff necklaces becuz we were bffs first. But now I need a new idea. Thanx!

A. A special gift has to be totally unique so am thinking a nice handcrafted wooden accessory box. I gave my boyfriend a MarqART accessory box for his birthday a few months ago and he says he doesn't know how he managed before that. He now keeps all his stuff in it .. like coin collection, keys, mobile, etc and says he hasn't lost anything in a while .. earlier he was constantly looking for stuff.

Gift ideas for a 6 month anniversary with my girlfriend?

Q. Our 6 month anniversary is coming up next month, and I just heard from my girlfriend tonight that she was working on my gift. We've never exchanged anniversary presents before, and by the way she's talking, it sounds like she's making me something.

I'm a little surprised, and also a little worried about how I can match her gift.
I can't draw, or write, or any of that stuff. So poems and drawings are out of the question.

I need gift ideas now, please.

A. Here are some gift ideas:

The Six Flowered Bouquet:

Since it is your sixth anniversary, get six bouquets for her from a florist. Each bouquet will contain bundle of different flowers. Red roses, tulips, lilies, canna, lotus, columbine, cherry blossom, hydrangea, etc. look beautiful. Write a short message of love on each bouquet.

A Memory Locked Scrapbook

The idea of making a scrapbook for your sweetheart is indeed very romantic. Get a blank scrapbook from a paper house. Procure decorative materials like colorful ribbons, glitters, frames and decorative pieces. Scribble everything chronologically right from the day you met her and jot every details about the sweet and sour experiences, being in the relationship with her. Glue pictures of the special moments captured. Embellish the pages and the cover. This is one of the best romantic gifts to tell how much she means to you.

The Love Basket

Six months have rolled on and you very well know what interests her. Collect the tit bits and put them inside the 'LOVE BASKET'. Your girlfriend might be a music lover or a movie buff. Stack up inside the basket a medley of songs and her favorite movies as well. You can also fill the basket with books she is fond of.

The Permanent Gift

If you can spend some extra dollars on the gift, then a ring or a chain will be a permanent gift for her. A simple and chaste diamond ring or a necklace of dazzling white pearl. A swanky silver chain with a heart shaped red pendant. These gift items are exquisite. You can even purchase a watch from the best brands available in the market. Surely she will exclaim in joy when you open the surprise for her.

What did you give your husband for the wedding gift?
Q. I have no idea what to give, or what is expected. Any ideas/experiences would be fantastic!

A. I haven't gotten married yet, so I hope he doesn't read this... I got custom made cufflinks made from vintage maps. One has the town we're getting married in, and the other has the place we are honeymooning. I'm not sure if I'm going to give it to him that day (like have someone deliver it to him), or give it to him at the rehearsal dinner but I want him to wear him at the wedding.

What are good gift ideas for a 4 year old boy?
Q. I wanted to get him a 3-wheeler for his birthday, but he will not get much use out of it being winter is almost here. I need some ideas on a good fall/winter b-day present for a 4 year old boy no more than $50.

A. Arts and crafts items are great for keeping young boys occupied indoors (without them being glued to a tv or computer screen). Try washable markers with a superhero cartoon coloring book, or a themed play-doh kit (like the Backyardigan's pirate ship - or even play-doh by itself), a water-color book, construction paper and glue... this list is endless. You could create a gift bag full of an assortment of these items for not a lot of $. Boys that age really love to create, explore, imagine, and then admire their handiwork!

I need gift ideas for boys who love spiderman?
Q. I'm Christmas shopping online, and all that I have left are a 4 year old boy and a 6 year old boy. They both love spiderman and all of the characters associated with him. I want some good gift ideas that would make their Christmas special. They already have the costumes, and I would like to stay away from the "toy" thing (they have plenty of spiderman toys). I plan to spend between 50 and 60 dollars on each child, and get them at least two gifts. Any ideas?

A. Do they have the movies? Maybe you could buy all of them. Or you could go with one of the following:

What are some good recipes for homemade Christmas gifts?

Q. I am already planning on making fudge, and toffee but would like some more candy or dessert ideas
I am also looking for some gift jar ideas/recipes. I already plan on one for chocolate chip cookies and homemade hot cocoa. I would really like a good recipe for a blueberry muffin one if you know of any.

I have a large family and want to give each of the adults (24) a gift somewhere along these lines, but I don't want to make all the same things so any ideas?

A. Flavored sugar is a great 'gift jar' gift. I used a spice mill to grind dried lemon, orange, lime peel (separately) and added them to sugar with a drop of food coloring shaken in for effect. I also buy a bag or two of sugar every January and go to the whole foods store and buy vanilla beans (they are cheaper). I make a slit down the middle lengthwise (careful not to go all the way through to the other side) then I place a bunch of these beans in an airtight jar with the sugar and leave it alone until Christmas. Then I put it in jars and give out. The lime sugar and the vanilla sugar seem to be the most appreciated. Especially by tea drinkers and bakers.

You can also take last years fruitcake (you know it lasts forever) and crumble it up. Then, dip your hands in a little water or flavored liqueur and roll into small balls and place in a pan to dry overnight. Then melt some choc chips in the microwave (one bag choc chips and 1 teaspoon Crisco for shine) dip balls and place on wax paper til chocolate sets. This recipe makes fruitcake lovers out of anyone who loves chocolate (esp. the dark chocolate).

For those of you who know Hawaiian foods: how do I use lilikoi butter?
Q. A friend brought me back a jar of it from her trip. I've already searched "lilikoi butter" and I think I have a pretty good idea what kind of a product it is now, but not how to use it. Can I substitute it in recipes that call for lemon curd? Can you describe the flavor? Got a recipe to share that uses it? I'm very grateful for this nice gift, but I'm at a loss for how to use it. Many thanks in advance for your suggestions.

A. How lucky you are! I LOVE Lilikoi (it's passionfruit). It's a sweet slightly tart flavor. It really is hard to compare it to anything. Maybe a little citrusy (like a lime tart but sweet also).

Use it like regular butter (gourmet style), a little dab on grilled fish or a glaze for grilled shrimp or chicken.

What is the best homemade gift idea should I make for my cousins,if it is food related please give the recipe?
Q. This needs to be good ideas because my cousins are the best!:D I love them! And I need to think of something to give them before this holiday.

What are some good homemade Christmas gifts?
Q. I'm running low on money this year, so I decided to try and make gifts for people. I'm looking for gift ideas for my friends and my mom and dad. I'm 15 so it can't be anything to childish, but it has to be something I can actually do by Christmas. Any ideas?
Thanks!

A. Make a laminated bookmark: find pictures or photos that they would like - animals, sports, flowers, favorite band, hearts, cars, pictures of family or you two - it can be a few small pics or just one, glue it to construction paper (you can make it two-sided), make sure you know how wide you want it to be before you start with the glue, then take it to Staples/Office Max, Office Depot or a store like that and get it laminated, then cut it. After hole-punch the top and put a ribbon or twine of some kind through the hole and tie it in a knot.

Make a 'love jar' and fill it with origami hearts, flowers and slips of paper with notes of appreciation written on them or 'I love you' written in different languages (on the back write which language it is).

Say I love you in different languages

Use an empty jar or soup can to make a pen/pencil holders - take the label off and wrap them in fabric or colored paper and decorate them with pictures the two of you or other pictures they would like.

Help with mother daughter bday party?

Q. I need some help..me nd my moms birthdays r ten days apart nd there is a 20 yr age difference..I'm turning 30 nd she is turning 50!! Both major milestones..I am having a big combined birthday for us but I need ideas..I need a theme nd a slogan nd party favor ideas!!?? I want it to be fabulous!!

A. Actually , I think you could have fun with the difference AND the similarities. What I mean is; you could have the gift table separated with one sign: FABULOUS AT FIFTY and another one, FLIRTY 30. So the presents are separated as well as the theme BUT the decorations could still easily go with princess pink items and decor. On the present table for mom: a poster in the background of like Starsky and Hutch or Meatloaf and for you- well whomever you loved in high school! I would have your background music playing both of your oldies and goodies random like.
Appetizers can be anything BUT i would go to one of those candy bulk stores that have the old fashioned candies and scatter them on the dessert table . They don't have to be separated- your guests get the idea. For a fun game- if you have time- your mom needs to write down the dances she remembers or that you find on the internet for the late 70's and early 80's and you write down the popular dances of your teen years. The 30 somethings have to guess how to dance to your mom's list( by only hearing the name) and her crowd will have to figure out how to dance to your list. It could be really fun. Have your generation music to dance by. If you don't like to dance try doing a trivia contest with each generation having to guess the others television shows. Oh and your overall slogan for the Invite? You are too young- but there used to be a commercial where the young guy grabs the woman and says; wow! Mrs. ..... I thought you were your daughter...... OR you could be the Trophy Wife Party if you are not married- then Milestones Madame's... have fun!!

Throwing an 80s themed party?
Q. I am throwing an 80's themed (30th) birthday party for my sister-in-law. I need some ideas for the party.. as well as a list of clothing for men and women to wear. I would like to add on the invitation that women will not be allowed without wearing ____ and _____ and men will not be allowed without _____.
Ideas please! :-)

A. You could give out little mini gift-bags at the end with Rubix Cubes in, and a pair of fake Ray-Ban sunglasses, and Bubble Tape in etc. They were big back then :)

For music- Prince, Michael Jackson, U2, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Queen- they were all big then :)

You could have costumes like people have to dress like a celebrity or rockstar or singer or actor from the 80's. Michael Jackson and Madonna influenced a lot of style then.

Fashion- Big hair, Converse shoes, button down collars, shoulder pads, play-suits, casual t-shirt under a suit, huge crucifix jewellery, studs, tulle skirts, acid washed jeans, green red and yellow, headscarves, gold jewellery, denim jackets, ripped jeans,- in America, preppy style was begining to come into fashion with sweater sets, and polo shirts by designers like Ralph Lauren.

For food and drinks- apple Kool-aid, Banana split ice-cream, Sherbert, Ben & Jerrys ice cream, Candy necklaces, chilli-dogs, diet coke, fanta, frozen yogurt, fudge cookies, gummi bears, Hubba Bubba bubblegum, Mars Bars, McDonalds.
:)

Sounds fun, have a good time! :)

Any good gift ideas from Barnes & Noble?
Q. I have a $80 gift card and plan on using it for my sister and mother's birthdays in the coming weeks. I plan on using $40 per person.

My sister is a 14 year old and in her first year of high school. She's a typical teenager but works odd jobs to make money and does all the chores in the house.

My mother is 43, currently in school, divorced, and lives by herself.

I want something meaningful and I'm not sure if books would be any good. Any gifts from Barnes & Noble that could be nice? My family has had it rough the past few years...

A. That is really sweet of you... bless your heart. As a single, seasoned mom of 5 girls/women with families I know the value of $ as I had 3 degrees from higher education and often worked two jobs. Seriously for your mom, get her some thing FUN. She already has to deal with books going to school so I'm thinking she could use a CD of songs from her era (year she graduated from high school). I had a bad child hood and the music I loved was Motown in the mid to late 60s. I still listen to my music from my teen years as I could escape the abuse for short times by putting on my head phones and just lay in bed and listen to music and it kept me balanced. So you probably know what years your mom was a teenager and get a CD of mixed songs from those years. Another great gift my family gave me a couple of years ago was a calender with family pictures for each month. So go to a camera shop with a full service lab that makes calenders and gift cards and ask them how much a 12 month calender runs and then find cute pictures of your family and give that to her... seriously I loved mine so much and I hung on to it and still look through it. For your sister, same ideas plus there are some really fun books for teens that she would love. Just ask a few girl clerks for their suggestions. GOOD LUCK.

What is an average amount and list of what a woman spends each month?
Q. Recently I have been trying explain to my husband that I want to get more things like clothes and highlights.

What are some monthly expenses for a woman. I am 25, so these are not just what a teen might spend. I am talking like pricing of keeping up highlights, nails, blue jeans, make up, face wash, lotions, tanning... things I'm forgetting...
The main reason I am asking... I am a SAHM and have a 6 month old. I have been married nearly 4 years, and I do not feel like I have enough money for me. Meaning, I get $50.00 a week for groceries, diapers, wipes, all the baby food, our food, all clothes my husband's, mine and the baby... i only get my hair cut twice a year, and my husband complains SO much when I talk about a manicure, highlights, new clothes (i've had these forever). I want him to understand that not only am i extremely cheap... someday down the road I don't want to have to be this cheap anymore.

A. Spend your own money on yourself.
Problem solved.

If you are a SAHM then you two should figure out what a reasonable weekly allowance is for both of you.
It's not based on "what you need" it's based on what you can afford and are willing to budget.

We allocate $200 a week to allowance. She gets $120 and I get $80; her allowance is spent on her and the kids that's why its more (ice-cream, trips to the zoo, etc...). If we do something special, like take kids to a carnival, I'll spend some of my allowance on it too and a lot of my allowance is spent on her too ;)
When the kids are a little older we'll pay them their allowance directly and my wife will go back to work and have her own money.
That allowance pays for everything not in the budget. e.g. gifts for birthday parties, gifts for each other etc... If you want something expensive you have to save.

So you get an idea of scale, I make $90k and we live in a small home and both of our cars are now paid off. If your household income is $40k you cannot afford to blow $200 a week.

Get the book in the source and have him read the chapter on material support. "She needs to live comfortably".
Most men, myself included, would live in a box for 10 years if it meant we were millionaire when it was over.
Few, if any, women would be willing to do that.

What do you get for a 9-yr old boy for a Christmas gift?

Q. I am trying to get a gift for my 9-yr nephew. He loves the Disney-Pixar move Cars, he loves cars period. I don't want to spend more on his sister than I do on him because their mother and her mother spend more on his sister. $40 is my gift limit for each gift. Does anyone have any ideas?

A. romote car is always good.

I imagine he has the movie, however, they make games as well with the cars theme.
Even traditional games, like monopoly and such disney themed.

But hotwheels has this toy that I love and I am getting for a 7 year old boy, if he has a computer, you just plug it in, and the cartridges for it, are little hot wheel cars.

This is only $20, then you can just give him $10-$20 cash as well, if you're into giving money. Or buy him an additional cartridge to go along with it.
HotWheels.Com Turbo Driver Controller it is called

What would a 13 yr. old girl like for Christmas?
Q. A woman at work had her husband just abandon her and her two children, ages 9 and 13. A couple of us are buying gifts for the kids... I have some ideas for the 9 yr. old boy, but what do 13 year old girls like these days? I have absolutely no information about her other than her age, and don't want to ask the mother what the little girl would like, for fear that she'd be embarrassed about her situation...we're not really supposed to even know about the husband leaving! Help!!

socks
slippers
nightwear

I think she a bit old for high school musical stuff

Just some things my 13yr got on her list for Christmas

Hope my friend would be like you lot if anything happened to my marriage

What are some unique homemade xmas gift ideas?
Q. Creative, afforable, unique gift ideas and crafts???
i need help-i have less than 100 bucks to spend on these ppl:

1)My mom who loves handmade and unique things(she gets 3 gifts cause of her birthday)
2)A picky 9-yr old sister(something huge and affordable)
3)A outgoing and energetic grandma that likes to collect everything especially dolls)
4)My 2 friends that i work at the library with(ones a rocker boy and the others a christian girl)
5)The elders at the library(something simple, something that they can put on their desk maybe)

A. 1) Make her a blanket that she can keep on the back of the couch. If you go to a fabric store or Walmart you can get fleece anywhere from 2.00 and up. Then just fringe the edges. You can be as creative as you want. Then grab a mason jar some epsom salt, food coloring and concentrated liquod potpouri (in a scent she would like) mix the salt with a few drops of food coloring and scent. (not to much on the color or scent, it only takes a little bit) Mix it in a bag until the color and scent are mixed well with the salt. Pour into the jar and tighten with lid. Add a small piece of material and ribbon to make it cute and add the tag- Add a handful to a hot bath for a relaxing break. For the third gift, make her a homemade gift card for a couple peaceful bath time breaks. That should make her happy.
Cost 10.00-15.00
2) Make her a photo board. Grab a thin piece of board. Something that is like 3ft by 3ft. But very thin. Just a little thicker than cardboard. Put something you can stick tacks in. Cover it with a thin layer of batting, and her favorite color of matierial. Then take some cute cloth ribbon and run it back and forth to make a criss cross shape (like tic tac toe, or a chess board # kind of design.) Then tack the ribbon in place with cute little tacks. Start her out with a disposable camera. Then help her arrange the pics when they are developed. She can add her school friends and other photos.
Cost 10.00

3)You can make Grandma a mop doll. Their really easy.
You can get the mop and the pattern at most fabric shops. She will love it. I made a few of them. The more creative you are the nicer they are.
cost 10.00-15.00

4) Get them stockings of goodies. You can make them special for each
Cost 10.00

5)Since you see them daily (most of them right) Make a big plate of cookies one day and some punch. Give them each a card telling them merry christmas.
cost 15.00

Hope some of it helped.

Any ideas for 9 yr old boy sleepover party?
Q. I'm looking for fun ideas for a sleepover birthday party for about six 9yr old boys. I don't want them to just sit in front of the PS2 all night. Any ideas for fun games, activities, gift bag treats, etc?? Both indoor and outdoor game ideas would be appreciated. Also, any tips or advice from parents who have lived through one of these parties? lol

THANKS!!!!

A. I've hosted my share of sleepovers despite my young age (lots of brothers and I'm the oldest). I would recommend if it's warm where you live, to let them loose with water guns or balloons, if that's not your sort of thing I always thought foods make or break a sleepover. Something I used to always do was buy the ingredients to make mini pizzas and then let the kids make their own, they really enjoy it. At the end of the night though some of the best memories they'll have is being in front of that PS2 with their friend(s) so don't take that away completely.

What are good gift ideas for a teenage girl?

Q. what are some good unique gift ideas for a teenage girl? Anything vintage would be great - I'm just trying to think of some good gift ideas for a teenage girl. Any ideas?

A. Try a antique shop or local flea market and find an old locket and you can put a picture in it. Perfume works great also. Roses are always good. A mix cd of her favorite songs or romantic songs. Dinner is cool too.

What are some good and inexpensive gift ideas for teenage girls?
Q. Im trying to round out my gift givng and need a few ideas of unique but inexpensive gift ideas for teenaged girls. Thanks!

A. I went to Starbucks and got a lot of really cute things. I've seen a lot of really cute and inexpensive boxed jewelry at Fred Meyer stores. I bought my niece for her birthday at Trader Joes these French Truffles and her mom a cute little box of cookies from there and they loved them. Not sure where you are located but I love the store Ross and Kohls. They both have cute scarfs and beanie hats for super cheap you could pair up with some cookies or candy :)

What is a good gift idea for a 15-year-old girl?
Q. My sister has a really hard time thinking up gift ideas because she is very practical. She is not like normal teenage girls - she hates makeup, isn't into fashion things, and doesn't fawn over any celebrities. She enjoys writing, drawing, painting, singing, drumming, etc. She likes worship music - suggestions for any specific worship bands? Her favorite TV show is My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. She likes video games, but can't find any good ones (she hates violence/gore, language, etc.); her favorites are Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Halo Reach. Her favorite animal is a dog/wolf, her favorite authors are Robert Liparulo and Wayne Thomas Batson, and she really likes Scotland and Ireland (she nearly peed her pants when she watched Brave and saw Celtic Thunder in concert).

On a side note, do any of you have inspiration for my sister? She has at least 20 books right now, all ideas in progress, and would like inspiration. :)

Thank you to anyone who can help! As some of my favorite people say, you can't get medicine unless you ask for it!

A. Well she likes both Nintendo and Halo. Seems the best compatible idea in the video game department is the Wii U. Personally, I bought it and it is pretty interesting with the game pad and all. Plays all the Wii stuff too. Considering she already is in the hands of an xbox, this generally is up in the air. It does play CoD: Black Ops, Mass Effect, and Assassin's creed just like the Xbox and PS3 but then, they are violent. But then, so is Halo. The Wii U is pretty expensive, ranging from $300 to $350 dollars, tax not included. Also if your willing to buy a game with it, that too furthers the price on it.

Considering My Little Pony: FiM became pretty famous, the season 1 set is actually coming to DVD pretty soon. It is possible it may even be out now. Hot Topic is also supporting My Little Pony, having a ton of possible purchasable items regarding the show so you can get her some stuff there. Also Hot Topic sells video game related clothing there too, so if you find some of her favorites you can go there as well. Hot Topic is generally found in shopping malls, by the way.

If her favorite authors are Robert Liparulo and Wayne Thomas Batson, Then it is clear to get something that co-relates with them. Guess you'll have to do some research on what she has of them already.

As for the rest, I can't really think of anything relating to do with Scotland and Ireland. The movie Brave did already came out on DvD / Blu ray. So you could go pick that up too!

Your sister just so happens to like things that I know about, so if there is any other details or information you need to know, you can email! :D

Hope you find the right gift!

What are some good gifts for a 21st birthday?

Q. My friend is turning 21 and I was wondering what are some good gift ideas that I could get for her. Thanks!

A. Take her to the bar! That's a great celebration. Everyone loves to get drunk and party with friends for their twenty first! Buy her a few rounds. :D

What to buy as a gift for a guy your dating - 21st birthday?
Q. I just started talking to this guy and in about a month will be his 21st birthday. Obviously I still have a while to get to know him. He does come from a well off family, so he has a lot of stuff.

What's a nice gift to get that's not breaking the bank too much(for my pocket/& not overstepping boundary)- dating standard? I want it to be something really nice but obviously not too expensive because I am not his girlfriend & bc nothing is offical?

Ideas please! :]

A. I think you should go with something that has art value ... it is not too personal and yet shows that you are not exactly casual about the relationship. An exquisite handcrafted wooden valet box where he can store his personal stuff like keys, watches, pens, mobiles, etc will be good. Check out MarqArt. You can get some really good stuff from $50 up.

What should I get or do for my girlfriend's 21st birthday?
Q. Please give me ideas or suggestions for my girlfriends 21st birthday. I was thinking of taking her hot air ballooning, taking her out to a nice restaurant, getting her a gift from tiffany's, but I have already done these things (except hot air ballooning) and was wondering what other ideas or suggestions you guys can give?? Thanks!

A. You are a good boyfriend! She loves you already, you could propose? But use Cartier next time. Or you can invite her friends a long for a wild night of club hopping with a limo? Most 21 yr old girls go crazy for this!

What brand/kind of sunglasses does James Bond wear in Quantum Of Solace?? VERY IMPORTANT!!!?

Q. My dad has asked me for the exact sunglasses that James Bond wears in Quantum of Solace for Christmas. I have not seen the movie and I have no idea where to start on this hunt!
Please help! Specifics appreciated!

A. I'm wearing the *exact* sunglasses as I'm writing you this reply. :)

They're Tom Ford "FT 108 19V" glasses. If you want to know where to buy them, go to www.tomford.com, go to "Where to Buy", and it lists retailers that carry them.

They're absolutely stunning - I paid about $350 for them. They come with a "Tom Ford - James Bond 007" case, matching soft cloth and box. Great presentation, and makes for an awesome gift. :)

Since you haven't seen the movie, this is what they look like:

If your dad wants the exact James Bond look from Quantum of Solace, be sure to get the "19V" color, which is silver frames and blue lenses just like the picture.

I need new ideas for a birthday gift for my husband, can you give me choices ?
Q.

A. **Smiles sweetly at you** please? best answer?

OK here are a few global faves, not in any specific order:

1. Romantic vacation

2. A zippo lighter

3. a electronic shaver

4. One great gift idea is for designer sunglasses. Men want to look stylish and cool and designer sunglasses can help them accomplish that

5. Not all men drink beer on a regular occasion but quite a few husbands enjoy coming home from work and having a beer or two to unwind. Instead of always having to pick beer up at the grocery store it is a great idea to give your husband a kegerator as a gift. These are little mini keg refrigerators with a tap.

6. Name a star after him

7. Car toys, digital camera, mini DVD player

8. Buy him something he needs with money you collected. Like not something from the credit card that he has to pay for in the end

9. romantic spa

10. to test drive hs fave car

11. his name origin

12. a tuxido. Something that makes him look like 007

13. tell him your pregnant (only if you are though)

14. Gibe him breakfast in Bed with 2 tickets to a romantic spa hidden in his eggs somewhere cleverly covered with plastic

15. a five star cruise
