Hi, I have three children a daughter who is 6, and two sons ages 2 and 4. I can tell you from experience toy shopping for kids can be hard there is so much to choose from. These are the things my kids have played with over and over and things I give as gifts to my family and friends with kids.

Playskool Busy Ball Popper- my six year old got this for her 1st birthday and it is still in our toy room and played with by all kids almost everyday.

Fisher Price Little People Zoo Train- My six year old also got this as a gift for her first birthday andit too is still in great shape an played with by all.

Fisher Price Barnyard Pop Onz- My 4 year old got these for his first chritmas when he was 6 months old, all of the kids love them, they stick together really well, and can comfigure really cool things, they even use the pieces creatively as other toys, ie: a few of the blocks look like binoculars so they pretend they are on a safari with them or pretend they area camara.

Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Chair and Puppy- These are adorable, interactive and teach kids songs, letters and color and they are really fun too.

Fisher Price GeoTrax- although your son might be a litle young this year make sure you get these for next christmas my boys love them, every kid that comes to play loves them.

Fisher Price Tuff & Rumble Dump Truck and Fire Truck- both are very durable and really cute, No bells or whistles and kids use their imagination to play with them.

LeapFrog Fridge DJ- really awesome toy keeps baby and toddlers busy while you are cooking dinner, great to take in the car too.My 4 year old still plays with it.

Leap Frog Learning Town Car Wash- if you can find it I got this for my 2 year old for his first christmas when he was 6 months old and he loved it, he played with this thing everyday and still has it in his room.

Parents Bee Bop Band Set- We have had two of these my daughter had one when she was 1 and as she got older she used it as a step stool so last christmas I got a new one for our then 18 month old. The baby I baby sit is one and she love this also.

Anyway I hope these help cgood luck shopping !

What would be a good gift to take to my host family in Costa Rica?

I will be living with them for 4 weeks. The family consists of mom, dad, and 4 year old daughter. I have thought about brownie mix and measuring cups, because I have several hispanic friends who had never tried brownies or even knew what they were, until I baked them for them. I got the idea of adding measuring cups from another website.

This wouldn't be all I would take. So please, any ideas would be a GREAT help!

well im Costa Rican-American and when ever we go visit my family we always bring them snickers chocolate bars and other american candies lol i know it sounds a little odd but yea my grandmother and all my family really loves them lol i dont remember if they have snickers bars in costa rica but if they do im sure they are probably too expensive for the average Costa Rican (my family lives in a very poor area in San Jose so yea when i say "average" i mean that type of people)

-a word of advice though....if the family is stable financially (meaning they have a nice house, nice things, have their children in private schools, their own cars and live in a good neighborhood) then i wouldn't want to take the chance of offending them by bring them american candy....if they CAN afford the candy then it would be a bit insulting to bring them something that they can get themselves ( but that doesnt apply to all gift...i dont know if im explaining myself correctly lol)

- but if you see that they are a humble, modest family (like mine) then im sure they would be more than grateful to have such a luxury that is american candy.

- u know what....to be on the safe side, you could bring them boxes of good quality chocolates like those assorted chocolates form Godiva and Ghirardelli. That way it shows your giving them something extra special (nothing cheap) and it wont insult them either way (and im sure the little girl will love chocolate...i mean, who wouldnt ;-)... ) AND it really wont cost you too too much when you think about it. So yea ...you cant go wrong with mixed cocoa lol

- u could also buy the little girl a really nice coloring book (not something you picked up at a dollar store...like my mom usually does for my little cousins *eye roll* ) like a huge book and a box of Crayola color pencils, markers, crayons ...a whole coloring kit lol. If you win over the baby of the house you'll win over the entire family ...trust me ;-) lol

-or a really nice Barbie or any popular doll from Toys R Us with some nice accessories (again try not to be too cheap about it...im only saying that cuz of my experience with my mother lol)

yea something along those lines....hope this helps!!

if you need any more ideas just let me know lol

Hope you have a great time in Costa Rica, its a beautiful country filled with beautiful people both inside and out ;-) (and im not just saying that cuz im tica lol) ....good luck!!

I have a 4 year old daughter. She is getting ready to start school! I am looking for an IQ test for her. This is something I am doing just for fun, just to see where she rates. I am not trying to see if she is"gifted" and I will not treat her any differently! I just want to do this for fun!

Answer
There are no Official free online IQ tests for anyone of any age, because a real IQ test needs to be administered by a test proctor or Psychologist/Psychiatrist.

Here are some traits of gifted children in the 3 - 6 age group:

Talks very fast when excitable or arguing.
Beginning to show ability to think abstractly and in symbols at an early age.
Has the ability to see many sides to an issue or problem on their own
Fast learner, usually in great leaps.
Very good memory.
Very persistent in solving hard problems and have long concentration span.
A fascination with ideas and words, advanced vocabulary and development of language.
Analytical and creative thinking skills
Advanced visual and motor skills.
Unique way of interpreting events.
Very observant and has great attention to details.
Unusual and early insight into social and moral issues.
Easily understand ideas and starting to understand how other people think and feel.
Very high energy level - sometimes considered hyperactive
Above average ability with numbers/jigsaw puzzles
Vivid imagination
Early/avid reader, and loves reading - age 3/4
Preference for older/matured companions
Has wide variety of interests
Very creative, inventive and does new ways of expression and doing things
Quickly and accurately answers questions
Very entrepreneurial and makes money from his own efforts
Very resourceful and solves problems ingeniously
Comfortable with complex ideas
Gets good grades in most subjects
Asks provocative questions
A good guesser

Spontaneous present ideas for a 14 year old friend's birthday?

prettyinpu

One of my best friend's birthdays are coming up and I want to get her something spectacular. I have known her for about 4 years now and I've always been able to think of something really great. Out of my friends, I am thought to be the one who always gives out great gifts. However, I am stuck this time and cannot think of what to get her. I was thinking of a gift basket, but I couldn't think of what to put in it.. Any ideas?

Answer
put an apple in the middle of the gift basket,on the left put a book you think she'll like,on the right put a bottle of her favourite posh fizzy drink etc.
maybe put in 2 cds of her favourite music artists, put a packet of her favourite crisps or sweets,a piece of jewellery(necklace, bracelet etc)
Things like that.
mainly put in things that she likes or that she would find useful.
hope this helped.
get her a card.(or get everyone to sign it)
