30th birthday gift ideas for guy?

LilMissSin

Just started dating a guy. He's turning 30 in a few weeks. We're not official yet. What can be some ideas to get him. I hate getting gifts for people. Don't want to get anything too expensive or too cheesy. Not too sure about a gift card or anything... I know he's a cop... I don't really know him too well yet to think of anything. I don't wanna freak him out either. Something simple...Any ideas?

Answer
I wish you'd said what you mean by not too expensive. One person's not to expensive means nothing more than $5000, another person might mean nothing more than $20.

Here is a great gift (again, i have no idea what your budget is) and it will last him forever. You can have it monogramed. It's a silver money clip from Tiffany's:

.

gift ideas?

Answer
Found this, Should be helpful:

Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Active Aries is always looking for ways to stay in shape, particularly during the holiday season... so athletic equipment is usually a good choice. People born under this sign are also fond of the color red, so a cranberry scarf or a scarlet hat could win their favor. If romance is in the air, let Aries know that you put his or her needs first. Buy tickets for two to a sporting event you loathe... or a CD by an artist you can't stand... to win big points with your favorite Ram.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus appreciates any gift that appeals to his or her sensual side. A box of gourmet chocolates, a richly colored tapestry or a soft cashmere blanket are all great options for Bulls. This sign also enjoys having money to play with, so a gift certificate to their favorite store is a welcome option. Always remember that quality is more important than quantity â Taurus would rather have a small bottle of expensive cologne than a carafe of the cheap stuff.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Quick-witted Geminis enjoys gifts that appeal to their sizable intellects. A challenging book is always welcome, as is a magazine subscription. This sign rules the hands, so some scented hand lotion or a sparkling ring might delight. Geminis also love to entertain, so a set of glassware might fit the bill. If you want to splurge on a special Twin, give them the latest cell phone or PDA, so they can keep in touch with their gazillion friends.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Sentimental Cancer loves gifts that have personal meaning. Handmade items always delight, whether it's a finger painting, angora sweater or mincemeat pie. This sign also has a special affinity for silver â a monogrammed hand mirror or picture frame would be very well received. Since Crabs have an affinity for liquids of all kinds, a special bottle of wine, a fancy cappuccino maker or a shiny tea kettle are also good possibilities. And don't forget that these Moon children love the domestic arts â a cookbook specializing in comfort food is another sure winner.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Lions love gifts that make them look and feel terrific. Hair accessories, cosmetics and grooming items are all good choices for this image-conscious sign. Leos love drama, and enjoy presents that involve a bit of flair. Opera tickets, gold jewelry or animal print lingerie are right up this cat's alley. Leos also love to gamble, so a sheaf of lottery tickets or a weekend getaway to the casino could make them purr with delight. When shopping for clothing, remember that Lions have a special affinity for red, gold and purple.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgins love practical gifts...so avoid dust-catching baubles. A bread-making machine or a power drill would be equally welcome. These folks are also known to pride themselves on their impeccable appearance. Scented soaps, lotions and shampoos made by an earth-friendly company might be just the ticket. Virgos are also incredibly organized and might appreciate a good watch or a leather-bound date book. Or try a health-conscious basket of organic foodstuffs.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Librans have a special affinity for music, and always appreciate a good CD to add to their voluminous collection. If you want to do something really special for a Libran friend, splurge on a two concert tickets â this sign hates to do anything alone. Born beneath the sign of the scales, they also need plenty of balance in their lives, so a pair of candlesticks or bookends might appeal. If you're still stumped for ideas, have a lavish bouquet of red roses delivered accompanied by a loving handwritten note.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpions are secretive by nature and enjoy gifts that obscure their appearance in some way. A pair of designer sunglasses, a filmy scarf or a slouchy hat are all great choices for this sign. These mystery-lovers also enjoy moody, atmospheric stories. A collection of film noirs on DVD are sure to go over well with your favorite Scorpion. The rumors concerning this sign's sexual appetite are happily true, so seductive lingerie would get plenty of use. Since Scorpions also like to get beneath the surface; a gift certificate for a deep-cleansing facial will be appreciated.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
As far as Archers are concerned, half the fun of getting gifts is ripping them open! If Sag doesn't like a present, though, he or she will tell you outright. Avoid awkward scenes this holiday season by giving this outdoor enthusiast some camping equipment. Hiking boots or a water-proof parka would also be appropriate. These animal lovers adore any gift associated with their pets. A calendar filled with pictures of dogs or horses is sure to elicit a big smile. Finally, you can always feed this sign's wanderlust with a comprehensive atlas.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Career-oriented Capricorn always enjoys gifts that will boost their job status. A leather laptop carrier or monogrammed briefcase would be welcome. Contrary to popular belief, though, Goats aren't all work and no play. This sign is blessed with a wicked sense of humor, so try the BBC's "The Office" series on DVD. Capricorns also love luxurious presents they'd never buy for themselves, like a silk bathrobe.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
You never know what this unpredictable sign will be doing from moment to moment â one week it's skydiving and the next it's yoga! Still, this quirky sign always appreciates technological gadgets, whether it's an all-region DVD player or an iPod Nano. If you'd like to choose something a little more personal, why not make a photo album detailing all of your exploits with the Water-Bearer? Aquarius may not show it, but they harbor a special fondness for their friends. Still stumped for ideas? A basket filled with brand new socks is both weird and practical enough for this sign, which rules the ankles.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
These mystics love gifts of all kinds, but especially ones that help them escape the harsh realities of life. A bottle of champagne, a kaleidoscope or a book of fairy tales will appeal to your Fishy friends. And because Pisces is a Water sign, it's a good bet they'll appreciate bath salts, foaming cleansers and shower gels. If you'd like to give something really special, a digital camera will make a bit hit with this natural-born photographer. Looking for a romantic gift? Choose a gilt-edged volume of love poetry.

Cheers!

What are some great birthday gift ideas for best friend?

shelby ale

Well, my budget is around $30, and I already have a $25 iTunes giftcard for her {I got one last year for Christmas, even though I don't have any way to use it.}

Right now, I want to get her --

â The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
â Some chocolate / candy {which is only around a dollar or two.}
â A "To Write Love on Her Arms" bracelet.
â Some Mayday Parade, NeverShoutNever, or Panic! at the Disco merch.

Based on the above, any ideas? (~:

Answer
Uhh, you're so lucky you have extra money for presents..... I actually feel SO SO SO bad that I can't give my best friend a present when she's getting me one. But, lol, uhm, here's a list based on the things I was thinking of getting my best friend.

-A scrapbook of our memories and inside jokes. (I thought this was really thoughtful, but I just realized, we barely even have any pictures together.)

-Leg warmers + a cute scarf

-A gift bag with a bunch of goodies. Here are some suggestions: Accessories from Forever 21 from anywhere affordable, chocolate, fuzzy socks and maybe some body sprays? Oh yeah, and stick that iTunes gift card in there too :)

-A crop top or hobo shirts which you can get for around $15 almost anywhere in your mall.

-If she likes to do her hair, get her hair products. I recommend the Remington Curling Wand from target, which is around $25.

-Those funny hats! You know, those winter hats with faces on them? Those are adorable!

-Those backpacks that looks like a stuffed animal you could get from Hot Topic

-If she likes to read, get her some of her favorite books.

Actually, you don't have to spend as much as $30 for a present, but it would be nice. Just remember, it's the thought that counts :)

I need a great birthday gift idea for male friend (age 30) who literally has everything. Ideas?

La Reina

Price is not relevant, but I do not want to spend too much money because he and I have not known each other very long. He's a business man and travels frequently.

Answer
I have always found that the best present for a man is a present for his toys.

Most guys LOVE their toys, electronic, car, boat whatever. Scope out his toys and see what they need. For his car/vehicle, a detailing certificate or a GPS system. For his phone or other electronic device, you could get one of those instant boost things that give power when the battery dies. If he has a lot of things that use batteries, you could get rechargeable batteries and a fast charger to go with it.

One of my former bosses had 2 loves, his horses and fine scotch. One year I got him an expensive bottle of scotch--one that he wouldn't spend the money on--and a very nice set of 2 glass tumblers. Another year I got ahold of his farrier and paid for the next visit for his horse shoes. And one time I gave him a masculine basket (leather covered) filled with manly care products like aftershave, cologne, razors, shaving cream, loofa, etc. He was always thrilled and said I always gave the best gifts.

Guys love gifts for their toys!

They are three and will be four in March and May. The gifts also need to be the same to prevent fighting.

PS: Should I get my baby nephew a gift too and if so then what? He will be 1 in March but he was premature and due in May.

Answer
I would get HABA dolls for the nieces. They are very cute, colorful and great for imaginative play. Toddlers as early as 18 mo can already play with them but my 5 year old and 6 year old girlfriend still like to play with them a lot! Also, for their birthday or next Christmas you could get more HABA doll accessories for your nieces. They have various models in different sizes so I'd get 2 models of the same size, then your nieces can pretend the dolls are girlfriends. More on HABA dolls and pictures here: http://www.best-baby-gifts.com/soft-doll.html
The prices are around 20-30 $.

As for the nephew I would get him something, too. Even if he is still small and cannot remember, you should get him a little something. How about a Christmas play set from GUND? These are really cute and for 6 mo and up. More details here: http://www.best-baby-gifts.com/Gund-baby-toys.html

In general this website gives good tips and has great gift ideas for babies and toddlers. They do not sell anything but just want to give advise. So maybe just browse there and get some more ideas.

Good luck!

What Guitar stuff should i get for my birthday?

Connor

My birthday is coming up on may 8th and i have been looking at guitar equipment i could get. But i cant find anything, I Have a line 6 amp, an esp guitar with seymour duncans, a wah and overdrive pedal, and thats pretty much all of the big stuff. I was wondering what some of you veterans think i could get that would be helpful. Thanks and anything guitar or headphones, etc. Thanks!

Answer
Hello there,

I would think you have a better idea of what you need than a stranger would. You get the gear you need (or as in some cases the gear you want whether you need it or not). So what do you need to get the tone you want for your music?

A couple sets of strings is always useful. Most newer players do not change their strings often enough. You should expect to get about 30 hours of playing time out of a set of strings. If you play a lot, you will go through a lot of sets of strings.

Nice guitar straps are an easy gift. There are so many nice looking straps around.

Picks are always needed. I keep a jar full of the type of picks I use. I go through a lot of picks.

A single guitar stand is handy. Don't store your guitar in it. But a stand is handy when you need to set your guitar down for a few minutes. Too many folks lean the guitar against the amp. Then if it falls over, you risk breaking the neck. If you have a lacquer finish on your guitar, don't leave the guitar in the stand for an extended time. Plastics, rubber and the like can affect a lacquer finish.

Do you have a good tuner pedal? What about a decent EQ pedal?

Do you have a FBV Express pedal to use with your Line 6? Or maybe a FBV Shortboard? What about a simple FBV-2 or FBV-4 channel switching foot switch?

What you ever thought about moving up to a tube amp? The Jet City 20 watt head is a great little tube amp.

This question is actually pretty hard for me to answer. I cannot relate to your situation. I am always thinking of more gear I want. I have no trouble coming up with things that "I must have." That probably explains the stack of amps, the boxes of pedals and the 30+ guitars sitting around here. I even have a few of those little battery powered amps. A cute little Fender (sits on my desk) and a couple Danelectro (I was a sucker for the surf green ones).

Later,

What are some ideas for a 30th birthday dinner party?

Jocelyn

My sister is turning 30 on Jan 1 !! We are planning to have a small dinner party at a local restaurant. What should the dress code be? Should we play games? Basically how does it go?!

Answer
A little birthday party for your sis, how nice!!!

If you're having a sit-down dinner in a restaurant, try to get a private room... IT A MUST! Have a pic of your sister blown up and have all the guests sign it. One fun activity sure to help everyone get into the fun is charades. Yes...CHARADES! Or you can do this...

The Icebreaker game,
~The "No" Party Game ~
* Each guest is given a lei (or a cool pin) when they arrive and is instructed to put it on.
*The goal of the game is to collect as may leis as possible by stealing/winning them from other guests. To do this, you must get another guest to say the word "no." Yep, that simple.
*To get a guest to say the word "no," the players must ask questions or make statements which would make the player give a negative answer. If a player (the answerer) forgets to go around the word "no", he or she must give their lei to the person who got them to say it (the asker).
*If you have lost your lei, you may continue to play, ask questions, and collect leis.
*The winner is the person who has collected the most leis by the end of a predetermined period. They can win a prize if you wish, such as a bottle of wine or store-brought gift, even giftcard is ok.

Note:You can choose whether or not to allow the word "know" to be used for this game-- both ways are fun. It's pretty interesting to see the lengths lei-less players will go to get leis from winning players-- especially as the game progresses. The hilariously convoluted things your guests will say in order to keep from having to say the word "no" make this one of the best icebreaker games for small groups.

Now Party getting into groove...
~Message Under a Plate~
Summary and Supplies: This is one of the easiest free party games to liven things up around the dinner table. All you need is a bit of imagination, a pen, and some small strips of paper. (Or, if you prefer more elegant dinner table games, some blank business cards or card stock and a printer-- you can do this on the computer). The Game: Write or print a different phrase on each of several small pieces of paper. Place one card under each of your dinner guests' plates. Make the phrases usable but strange. Ex: "I am a space cowboy," or "Have you tried ostrich eggs?" Before dinner, ask everybody to read the card under their plate-- they're not to read it aloud or share its contents with anybody. Instruct your guests to use their phrase or question as naturally as they can in conversation. You can decide to make this a race-- whoever manages to use their phrase last loses. Or it can be a competition between guests. The goal is for each guest to figure out when another guest is using an assigned phrase. If they're able to slip it into conversation naturally without anybody noticing, they win. You can also choose to assign guests several phrases-- increase them in difficulty as they go along.

Oh no I'm full and now we gotta play...
~The Memory Game~
Summary and Supplies: This is a simple one to play around the dinner table-- but more difficult than it sounds. All you need to play this is a decent memory. The Game: One guest is chosen to begin by saying something they "bring to the party" (doesn't have to be true). Example: "I went to a party and brought a bouquet of flowers." The next guest must add another item to the previous guest's item. Example: "I went to a party and brought a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of peach schnapps."
This goes around the table, and each person must list off all the items, then add their own. Players can generally go on for a surprising amount of time.

The end.. Have a great times...

As for dress code be casual, if you're still not sure ask the restaurant for advice. PS. Make Reservation ASAP... or you'll regret it.

What are some creative homemade gift ideas for my boyfriend of nearly 3 years?

His birthday is next weekend, and we live together. I'm in a pretty bad financial situation right now (he understands this and is even helping me out), but I want to give him something special.

How do I throw a 30th Birthday Party for my single friend?
Q. My single girlfriend is turn 30 this year. Does anyone have an clever ideas for decorations or a theme?

A. I'm single and also turning 30 this year. Hey, maybe you're my friend and this party is for me! ha! just kidding... ;)

If she's anything like me, and dreads turning 30, the last thing I want is to have people rubbing my new age-bracket in my face. Who wants to be reminded of how old they are getting when they're still single? So forego any "Over-the-Hill" type of decorations, or anything referring to "Old Maid" (I absolutely HATE that term!!!) Here are some parties that she may like:

-Honestly, I think a dinner party with her closest friends would be the best. Make reservations at her favorite restaurant and make a fun night of it. Take pictures!
-If she hates the thought of turning 30, do a "Happy 1st Anniversary of turning 29" party. Have 29 pink candles and 1 white candle decorating a white-frosted cake.
-Decorate the party like the 70's since that was the year she was born and have everyone wear 70's attire and play 70's music. Have 70's style posters decorating the room and maybe a history board of pictures of her growing through the years.
-Or if she's a fan of the 80's, throw an 80's style party, same idea as the 70's version...
-Or perhaps if she's a movie buff, have a party of "Big Movie Hits of the Last Three Decades". Have everyone dress up as their favorite movie character over the last 30 years.
-Maybe have people bring inexpensive gifts in thirty's. Thirty candy bars, thirty birthday cards about turning 30, a mixed CD with 30 songs on it, etc. Let your guests be the creative ones too.
-Murder mystery parties are awesome.
-Perhaps if you and her close friends can afford it, go on a road trip somewhere and celebrate. Vegas, Atlantic City, etc.

I don't suggest strippers or strip clubs. To me, that's fun in your early 20's. Turning 30 is a big step and the party shouldn't be reduced to something silly, unless she would like that...? *shrug*

***The most important part: Whatever you decide to do, invite men and women. If any of your guests have any potentional, great single men, bring them along! The more the single men, the merrier, right? ;)

Good luck! I'm sure she (and everyone else) will have a blast! And how thoughtful of you to do this for her! :)
