What gifts could I give my boyfriend for Christmas?

Q. He's a graphic designer, very quirky, talented, a photographer. It seems he has almost everything! So conventional, useful gifts probably would just be repeats. I am artistic (writer/pastelist, etc.) and so I could make something, but I just have no good ideas yet.

A. There is a great gift idea for photographers. Its a new 3D single use camera and the best part is the price. Its made by a Canadian company called Venga/Click 3D

What are cool ideas for bridesmaid gifts?
Q. We were thinking ipods but most of the bridal party already has those. Jewelry seems obvious but they probably won't get a lot of mileage out of them. What are some good, original ideas?

Thanks for your help!

A. I really really like these gift ideas from Fortnum & Mason (but I'm a huge tea junkie too)

http://www.fortnumandmason-usa.com/Ladies-Gifts,67.aspx

Maybe you could do a gift basket like one of these on your own. Maybe you can invite them all over for afternoon tea and enjoy some lady time together and then give them all tea-related gift baskets.

Or I really like their champagne basket. A lot of people give out gifts at the rehearsal dinner, and i think sometimes that just doesn't say thank you enough. Maybe invite all the girls over for cocktails and give them a romantic evening gift box filled with a bottle of champagne and chocolate and grapes and cheese.

Or maybe don't give them all the same gift? Celebrate their individual personalities. Hand write a thank you note to each of them. Think of one personality trait that you think defines them as a good friend. maybe Grace, Imagination, Creativity, Honesty, Humor, Charm, Kindness and then think of a gift that reflects that trait. Maybe an interesting vase or art print for Creative. Tickets to a comedy club or show for a witty humourous friend. Maybe some somewhat rare or interesting plant for the unique quirky personality. Some type of silver serving piece or pitcher or something that exudes grace for the Graceful friend. Don't be afraid to get creative, and your party will be touched that it isn't just some piece of jewelery that you picked for them that they will only wear once. Remember what they say about gifts: its the thought that counts, so take some time to make it special!

I'm looking for some really unique and creative gift ideas for an awesome co-worker. Any ideas?
Q. She has been a real inspiration to me this past year and I don't know if I would have made it without her as my mentor. She's a colorful person with a personable demeanor. I'm looking for ideas that are thoughtful, quirky, corny, involved, and most of all creative and unique!

A. How about a gift basket made by you. If you have an idea of what her hobbies are, a favorite book Author, use a favorite color and buy things of the theme you chose to put into the basket.

You could do a basket in really bright colors and write a note to let her know you've really appreciated all the help she's given you.

Things in the basket could be:
Coffee mug with different flavored coffees, chocolates, pastries or muffins, gift card to a favorite coffee shop.

A spa basket:
Bath gels & salts, candles, a cd with calming music, Bath scrubber, teas, some flowers. Or a gift card for a spa treatment.

If she has kids;
Maybe a night of free babysitting so she can go out to dinner with hubby or friends and a movie.

Or take her out for lunch and a movie date on a Saturday.

If she's really up to it and you can afford it how about a Hot Air Balloon Ride.

These are just some ideas for you.

What is a good gift for a 16 year old girl?
Q. My niece is turning 16 in February. I want to get her something special but I have no ideas. Gift cards seem so impersonal for such a special birthday. She is a little quirky and only wears costume jewelry.

A. Cell phone accesories, makeup, underwear(make them cute, 16 year olds are at that age now) maybe hello kitty stuff, or pictures/room deco, purses, if your going to go gift card, get it for somewhere like tarina tarintino.com they have great stuff!

My boyfriend's birthday is dangerously soon, I need gift ideas.?

Q. My boyfriend's birthday is dangerously soon & I need some cute, quirky gift ideas. So what would you want your boyfriend or girlfriend to get you for your birthday? Let me know :)

A. Gerbils are nice.

What Are Some Good Gift Ideas For A Seventeen Year Old For Her Birthday?
Q. My Friend Is Turning 17, And I Have No Idea What To Get Her.
She Likes Pink, And Elephants, And Shes Not Girly But Not A Tomboy.
What Are Some Idea?

A. Why not get her a box of little things? Put all of her favorite things in like books, jewelry, a mix tape, things that are pink, quirky badges (http://janell.tk/), cute plushies (http://wtpp.tk/) or candy. You could make a theme like everything is pink, or has elephants on it.

That way you don't have to worry about her not liking something. With so many choices, she is sure to like something.

I need unique gift ideas for my boyfriend?
Q. I want to get my boyfriend something really nice for Christmas. I want to think of something unique, quirky and something he won't expect. I already know what he wants and I'm getting that, but my question is what are some ideas for unique gifts like maybe things i can make at home?

A. I always have a rough time shopping for my husband. Like you, I can always get the one thing that he wants or has mentioned, but then the filler stuff is hard. I found this article this year with some links to specific products on Amazon. I think I might pick a few. (the prices range from a couple of bucks up to like $300, so there's something for everybody.) I really like some of the retro sports shirts that they mention. And, my husband loves to cook and brews his own beer, so some of the stuff in that category piqued my interest too. Good luck!

What is a good gift to get for an office party?
Q. I need to think of a good gift to bring to my office party. We each have a limit of $20 and it's a "steal a gift" exchange. I would like to bring something that everyone will want to steal! It's a group of mostly women with 2 or 3 men. Thanks!

A. Oooh, the dreaded office gift exchange!

The trick is to pick something fun and special, without being so specific that no one is interested in the gift. Start with a basic, and then add a few twists with clever packaging.

Basics

Movie passes
Movie rental card
Scratch tickets
Starbucks card
Pound of really good coffee
Itunes gift card
Mag light (That light that you shake and never needs batteries.)
Gift card from Old Navy, bookstore, coffee shop, popular store.
(Try to pick a store that has extra perks with the card, one time I got an Old Navy card that said that if it was used in the week after Christmas buys also got a chance to win extra money to spend. )
Beautiful cake from a nearby bakery. (We did an Italian cream cake was very popular)
Variety box of funky/fun greeting cards

Theme gifts - take a basic, and make it fun by bundling it with some inexpensive related items.

Old fashioned fun box:
Wind up toys, Matchbox cars, Parachute men, slingshot, Super bounce ball, Suction bouncy toys, Silly putty.

Movie night:
Popcorn, candy, bowl, Movie rental card

Gourmet Java Jolt:
Coffee, Flavored syrup, and Frother (it is an inexpensive whipper to create foam, last one I bought was $7 bucks)

Summer fun:
Snorkle and fin set

Inside Joke:
Box of Diet Caffeine-free Dr. pepper. One of the girls in our office was crazy for it, so someone found 2 big packs of it, and wrapped it up for the swap. When it was wrapped it looked huge after it was opened, everyone knew who it was for. But of course, she had something they wanted.. and so the negotiating began!

Maybe someone in your office has a quirky habit or interest that you can play off of!

Ideas for success:

Wrap the gift!
- Use an oversized box, people tend to go for the big boxes first
- Be creative. Wrap the present in a mysterious/fun way. Egg Carton (who would pick a "dozen eggs") ? Coffee can? Brown paper bag with a rubber band? Box from something else.
-Wrap smaller items (scratch tickets, gift cards etc.) in a larger box or with a larger item. For example:
-- a CD Case
-- Box of Candy canes (Protect the tickets in a plastic bag and tape to front of box). Looks like candy canes as they unwrap, until they see the tickets on the front.
-- Inside a pickle jar (I have a friend that does this one a lot... and it gets a good response, go figure!)
-- Use an Altoids tin for gift cards. If you are crafty, you can "remake" the tin into a one-of-a-kind box.

"Break the rules"

- Bring an extra White Elephant gift, wrap it, and put it in the middle of the pile. Something crazy, ugly, laughable, and totally different. (Whoever gets that one, can always pick again after the joking is done.) You never know, someone might actually want it!
-- Dog chewed shoe
-- Old child-size portable record player (was fought over.)
-- Look around, you probably have something that will work...

Have fun with it!

Things to avoid (unless you really, really, know that people in the office will like it.)
- Obvious "gift with purchase items"
- Practical joke items
- Dreaded holiday Combo packages.
- Edible underwear, or other adult items that might just go "oh so wrong"
- Gourmet Hot cocoa set with a mug
- Scented candles (if it was all women maybe....)
