What would be a good housewarming/Christmas gift for a couple?
Q. I'm needing a gift idea for a couple I am good friends with. They are getting ready to buy a house, so I thought I'd get them something practical to help them out when they move for their Christmas gift this year. Possibly a gift card, but was also trying to think of any items they might need when they do move. I've seen housewarming gift suggestions of gift baskets and things like that, but I'd like to get them something they could use everyday or something along those lines. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A. Gift cards to Home Depot and Lowes are nice but not much thought put into them. I always give crystal for the home couples gift. A set of crystal glasses is never turned away or looked down on.

Appropriate gift ideas for a young couple?
Q. I'm going to be visiting an old high school friend and her boyfriend at their new home. It's not really a housewarming party. She won't be having a party, but I would still like to bring her something.

Any gift ideas?
They're a young couple, working and going to college.
They have an infant daughter.
They are strong Christians.
Artistic types.

Also, no alcohol. I'm not old enough to buy it, they aren't old enough to drink it.

Thanks in advance!

A. I feel sure that they will be delighted with any gift you give them.

You could take a gift for the child, it is always safe to take a toy suitable for a child that age.

A plant in a pot, ask for one which takes little care if you do. A picture frame for a photograph. A box of cookies or candy. There are drinks which are not alcoholic which are rather nice, there some sparkling grape juices are intended for adults who do not drink alcohol and are very suitable

Ornaments are always difficult because of personal taste, you may love something they hate or visa versa so I would avoid anything to do with furnishing.

I must say that I find it a little odd that a strong christian couple who are not old enough to drink are living together out of wedlock and have a child. 00

What are some really AMAZING housewarming gift ideas?

Q. It's our friends' first house and I want to get them something just really really cool and unique something that no one else will get them , I know of gift certificates, but I want it to WOW and be really unique, I was going to get the a wine refridgerator I think they already have one!! wow me with Ideas I NEED HELP!

A. A couple of things come to mind... the first is that there is a cool company in Australia called Wheelie Designs. They create the stickers for the wheelie bins and come in a huge variety of colours, designs and styles. I have included their website below.

Next idea is a number for their house... These come in either aluminium or glass and look pretty sassy.

How about a funky clock? There are a ton of cool, sophisticated clocks out there and no house could ever be complete without one.

Finally, a selection of things that people wouldn't buy for themselves. Below is a link for a "Fridge Monkey" which enables you to get more beer/sodas in your fridge. Add to this some wall stickers and a bottle of champagne and you are set!

Good luck!

I have no idea how to use a pressure cooker?
Q. I received a pressure cooker as a gift at housewarming.Since then, its just been sitting in my pantry. I have misplaced the directions/box. I am just so afraid to use it. As a child I remember watching a lady who opened it too soon( I guess) and hot, hot,HOT food splattered all over her face and everywhere causing serious burns. I am just SO afraid to use it..but, really wish I knew how.Can you tell me?

A. Just watch these pressure cooker videos, by the end you should feel more comfortable about using yours.. It
can be dangerous! But with a few simple rules to remember, it can be a great kitchen tool ! I have one myself. and remember my mom and grandmother use them years ago so I wasn't too badly afraid when I got mine. Let me see if I can find you some instructions. You amy email me if you need one on one advise!
I will be back shortly.
This is what you want it to do. Adjust your heat till it does this!
Better to low than to high!

Housewarming gift ideas?
Q. My friend is 24, she recently passed the Bar exam, and has just bought a condo in the town I've lived in all my life, but she is new to the area. So far she has lived with ehr parnets, and in dormers or apartments with several roomates, so I'm guessing her condo will be half empty, yet i have NO IDEA what she needs.
i've already thoguth of all the boring stuff like picture frames... i want somethign UNIQUE for like $25 or so.

The best idea i have is to get her a book of cupons for local buisnesses, but thats like a giftcard and sort of lame. any ideas would be appreceated... and tell me if this is a good idea, even if you have none: a serving tray (for breakfast in bed, or carrying drinks) with black and white photos (I'm a photographer) on it, set under a sheet of plexiglass so they are protected, yet decorative. it's patethic, yet all i've got! help!

A. How about a really great coffee table book of all the local sites and attractions in the area? Try your local book stores or Barnes and Nobel online. That would be a perfect way to show her what the area has to offer and give her something decorative that will be a great conversation piece when she has company or parties. I love coffeetab;e books, I think they are a great gift that can fit anyones style. I do like your idea of a breakfast tray though :o)

Are gifts required for an engagement party?
Q. My friend is having an engagement party and i was wondering if a gift is required. If so, what kind of gifts should one give? She already lives with her fiance and they recently had a housewarming party so they have a lot of things for their house already. Gifts ideas please! :)

A. An engagement party has a specific purpose, and that is to formally announce the engagement of Mary Smith to John White.

Do not feel obligated to buy a gift for the newly engaged couple. An engagement party should NOT be the beginning of the gift giving season for this couple. The couple should not be registered for any wedding gifts until after the engagement has been announced.

Yes, there will be people who will walk in with gifts because they are just as unsure what to do as you are. If you wish to give a gift, you can't go wrong with a bottle of champagne or sparkling wine or two champagne glasses. Your enclosure note can say . . "A toast to your engagement."
