Newborn baby boy homemade gift ideas?

Q. So my Dad and step mom are having an baby boy and I'm wanting to make them (the baby) something cute or something that he'll use. I was going to make a blanket but my aunt beat me to it, so I'm needing new ideas ASAP.
Also I don't live with my Dad and Step mom so I don't have a pictures but I'm visiting the week the baby is being born. Oh also I'm VERY creative once I get an idea I can make almost everything

What are some great gift ideas to give parents of a newborn baby or a child?

A bunch of my friends are starting to have kids now, so I want to give them a gift that is really useful and thoughtful. I usually fall back on either a bib, little baby clothes, onesies, or a gift certificate to Target. Is there anything more unique or more useful I can get the parents? Are there any customized gifts that are good? Since I don't have kids, I am clueless! Thanks!

Newborns - DIAPERS DIAPERS AND MORE DIAPERS. I know it's boring, but it is VERY useful. Diapers are expensive and babies go through a TON. They are also ok if you get the wrong size, because they are very easily exchangable with or without a receipt.

Fantastic gift for toddlers - they have music CD's and books that you can order personalized with the children's name. Like my daughter (2 years old) has an Elmo CD that says "Come on Mia, let's play a game!" and she just LOVES it. She will listen to it over and over again...

Also a really nice gift that I have been given in the past was blankets and pillowcases with the children's names embriodered along the edges. It was very nice, and I knew they had put some thought into it. Don't know if you know anyone who does sews, but you should be able to find several shops that do it on commision as well.

You could do the "usual" baby blankets, toys or outfits. What I found most useful, however were gift cards (to Target or Walmart) and diapers in various sizes (I received diapers from newborn-size 3!)

A close friend of mine is scheduled to deliver her first baby in march and I just found out she's having a boy. I want to start buying her things early because she and her hubby are moving relatively soon. I have no kids (yet) so I have no idea what to buy. I know for sure that I want to buy her a wipe warmer since we live in Colorado and our winters are cold. I also know that I am going to buy a baby tuxedo suit because its going to be so adorable. What would you recommend buying?

I have to agree with the ones that say a tuxedo is not very practical. It is a fun gift for a photo shooting but nothing to wear every day for a baby. So I'd think about this once again ;-)

As for the wipes warmer, I never needed one for my 3 kids but it surely is a practical gift idea. To decide which one to take I'd see the reviews on amazon first.

My husband and I are having a little girl next month (October) and in December we will be celebrating her first Christmas. What are some gift ideas to get her considering it will be her first Christmas but at the same time she will still be very small? Just because she's a newborn, I do not want that to be an excuse as to why she doesn't have a good First Christmas. What are some gift ideas?

Start a college fund/savings fund/buy stock for her. She will be too little to understand what christmas is. She wont be able to unwrap presents. So, it would be silly to be her lots of stuff that she doesn't need.

Start a fund of some sort and make it a family tradition to place money it every holiday. I think there are roughly 10 major holidays but you can add in as many as you would like. If you put in the amount of money she is based on her age at each holiday she could have a nice account started.

1 year of life = $10 (or give extra for her first christmas)
2 year of life = $20
3 = $30
4 = $40

Wrap it in a nicy shiny package and she will be happy

Last year at my baby shower my best friend gave me a gift certificate for a photographer to come to my house and take pictures of my newborn baby. This was an amazing and original gift idea. This year she is pregnant and with her baby shower approaching I am stumped! Any ideas of what I can do for her?? It would be cheesy to give her the same thing right?

How about giving her a digital photo frame? If she does not get a photographer gift she'll probably pay a baby photo session herself since she seems to like this kind of gift. By giving her a digital photo frame she has the possibility to view and display all her baby photos all the time.

What is a the best bottle for breastmilk?

I have a friend who will be breastfeeding her newborn and she got everything she needed at her shower but no bottles or storage bags or breastfeeding supplies. So i thought i would get her some of that sort of stuff. Since she goes to school she won't be able to strictly breastfeed without a bottle.Any recomendations on what one to get or any other gift ideas

I am preggers and due in a few months so I have done a lot of research.

1) it's great to ensure the bottles or the storage bags or "bottle liners" are BPA- free (and also phthalate-free if you can find that also); That is easy since almost all plastic bottles nowadays (or liners for those which use liners instead) are bpa-free

2) I think that whatever system (AVENT, PLAYTEX, BORNFREE, etc) she gets, remember that is the one that she will have to continue with as far as bottles because each "bottle system" has it's own nipples. Being that it's breast-fed newborn, whatever nipples it's used to, more than likely it will take to it. Different nipples confuse the "Formula-fed" babies, from what I have heard.

3) whatever system "intro. pack" you choose to buy (or more than 1 if you go with Dr. Browns and say Playtex) make sure the mom-to-be can afford to keep up with the prices of the bottles in that line. It is a thoughtful friend who does this!

Im trying to get a gift for a friend that just had a baby boy. Its their first child.

I want to get them a practical gift. Something besides clothes.

I thought of a car seat since they dont have one. Is it a nice gift idea? Any more ideas?

if they have a car and do not have a carseat, it is an EXCELLENT gift. I recommend the chicco keyfit 30. if that's too expensive, diapers are always a great gift. go with size ones or twos, as they're in those the longest.

definitely ask if they want/need one though. some people get them from the hospital, depending on money situation/state
