It's my sisters 16th birthday. She is into cross country and lacrosse. Any good ideas of what to do/ get for her?

a gift card from Lady's Foot Locker. a very cool pair of athletic shoes used for cross country and lacrosse. get matching necklaces or bracelets for you and her. a gift card of her favorite restaurant. make -up kit if she wears make-up. Bare Essentials and Bare Minerals are good. very nice and natural. get her a package@ the local spa. Packages usually consist of a massage,pedi,mani etc. earrings. take her out to eat. Send her flowers to school or to her home an edible arrangement. You know the one with fruits. Buy her a perfume. I recently bought my sister in law Flora by Gucci and she asolutely loved how it smelled. get her a nice cool backpack for school and fill it with lil stuff inside. get her workout clothes for when shes in cross country or lacrosse.

How about a new digital camera with some "sexy" photos of you already on it? Then you can tell her that you can e-mail each other pics of yourselves every day even though she's far away. If she already has a digital comera, you could get her an iPod with some romantic songs already programmed on it, and call it "(her name)'s Playlist" and tell her to listen to it whenever she wants to feel close to you. Those are both really nice gifts, and she will be happy because they're thoughtful since you're in a long distance relationship.

I think I will start shopping for x-mas for my girlfriend soon.

Last year I got her:

Pair of smallish diamond earrings.

$270 spa package thing which she just finished about a month ago by using on hair and other stuff

a few other smaller gifts like cd's/movies

1. She said that she really liked the spa package from last year. Would it be alright to get it for her again this year?

2. The woman at the jewelry store said that I can double the size of her earrings whenever if I bring them in. My girlfriend said that she is not interested in this. Do you think she is being modest, or would she like larger earrings and is afraid to admit it?

3. I don't think I want to buy her any other jewelry because she already has a bunch.

I like to buy a few big gifts, and a bunch of smaller ones.

Any suggestions on what some good gifts would be?

Would a surprise vacation work. or is that too cheesy?

She sounds a lot like what i like. I love it the most when my husband gives me spa certificates & stuff. I dont like jewlery at all. But get her a gift cert to her favorite store. Does she like makeup like me? You can get her a certificate to http://www.sephora.com/ Thats always so fun to order stuff. I hate it cause i spend so much on there. I think a vacation is kind of more like an anniversary gift, but you know her, not me. If you think she likes that stuff you can get you guys a room at a really nice hotel and set it up with champaine, flowers, dinner....and a hot tub. Put candles around it & rose petals in the tub. But if she really liked the certificate get it for her again. Just ask her what she wants. My hubby gets me a $100 gift certificate to Sephora & $150 to VS. Shes a lucky one. You seem like you really love her a lot.

What is a good birthday gift idea for a Chinese lady boss?

Hi, I have a new chinese lady boss who is a very nice person and I would like to get her a gift for her upcoming birthday. I havent had the time to really get to know her, so I am counting on finding some standard time tested gift ideas that I cant go wrong with. It would be preferable if the gifts have some sort of a chinese theme to it that she might appreciate.

As the Belarussian answerer said, you give gifts as you would any lady. However, do be aware of some Chinese gift codes:

- Most Chinese value the colours red and gold, because it is the colour of good luck
- Never give any forms of knives as a gift (e.g. letter openers, manicure sets etc) because it is perceived as a symbol of severing the friendship.
- Never give clocks, fake cash (like those rectangular notepads with dollars printed on the back of them) or white flowers--these are mourning items, and receiving them would be perceived as wishing they were dead.

Normally I don't give personal birthday gifts to a boss, but might initiate to arrange with some colleagues buying a joint gift for her. This makes the boundary clear that our relationship is business, not personal; and it avoids misinterpretation, especially in cross cultural situations.

My top picks for lady gifts are usually stuff she could wear, including earrings/bracelets, handbags, belts, perfume, or a silk shawl. However, these are very personal gifts that could be inappropriate for a boss; especially, if as your username says, you are but a trainee. Don't forget that Chinese people are very hierarchical, so receiving gifts as such may be awkward for a Chinese woman even if she is very nice.

If you really want this birthday to be your appreciation for her being part of your life, it may be best to get her a gift that she will use up and can share with her someone special. This may include vouchers to dine at her favourite restaurant, get pampered at a fabulous spa, stay at a hotel in a nearby weekend getaway spot, or enjoy an evening at the opera if she's into that thing. If you don't want to spend too much, vouchers for Starbucks or a movie would suffice. But whatever you get her, make sure you have two of them included, because (especially if you're a man) it's not as nice to receive one of these and not be able to take her someone special with. Not only is including two a sign of respect for the possibility that she may want to spend it with someone special other than you, but also two is a lucky number in Chinese numerology.

If you decide not to have a go at any of these, a birthday cake jointly bought with your colleagues to be eaten in the office/wherever you work never fails. Don't forget candles! Party hats & horns and decorations would be nice, but optional.

I know this isn't a pregnancy question, but I was hoping the ladies in this category could give me some ideas. I've already gotten my husband most of his Christmas presents, but I would like to give himself special since we are expecting our first child, a baby boy in January.

My boyfriend surprised me with a want fo a digital picture frame. We are expecting our 3rd child (boy), I'm 32 weeks. I think this would be a great gift for a father to be. He can put new pictures on there as the baby grows. They are pretty expensive but I think would be a great gift he can take to work & leave on his desk (if he has one).
You could get him an engraved keychain that says something simple but sweet on it, that he could carry around with him.

Does anyone know of any cute ideas for a valentines day presents I could make my boyfriend?

We don't have a lot of money to spend on a Valentines Day presents, So we agreed to make each other something but all I can come up with is gifts a girl would like not a guy lol. I have looked on Pinterest but the gift ideas are mainly thing to do for ladies not guys. Hopefully someone can help!

Buy some red velvet cake mix and heart shaped cake pan, get some white frosting. Make the cake and your can by some of that frosting in a can (preferably red) and write "be mine" or something cute like that like those little heart shaped candies. That's a cute and delicious present.

Need help with a gift idea for a new Grandma!?

I am planning a little baby shower for a lady at work whose daughter is about to give birth to her first grandbaby! I'm needing a gift idea that a group of us can pitch in on and get for her new grandbaby! I would like to get her something big, like a play pin or something of that nature, but I can still fill with little things like blankets, bottles, etc. Keep in mind, this is to be kept at the Grandmother's house, not Mom's! I'd like to keep the cost around no more than $50-75 for the bigger gift, that way I can fill up with the little things too! Thanks for the help!!

you are so thoughful! be sure to toss in one of those dispoable cameras for those precious "kodak" moments. Also, don't forget about some safety things : outlet covers, thingys to keep cabinets closed, etc 'cause that grandbaby will be cruising around be fore you know it.
Also, maybe some first aid items: baby asprin, a thermometer, etc.

My family has been blessed to have a dedicated teacher to tutor our son once a week. She is also a respite child care provider for NACCRA. I have come to love this single hard working mom.
