Groomsmen Gift Sunglasses?

I am thinking of getting my groomsmen Ray Ban sunglasses as the Groomsmen Gift. Do you think this is a good idea. My thinking is no one ever buys themselves a nice pair of sunglasses. If not do think this is a good idea do you have any other suggestions? I want to get my guys something nice. And I thought if I got sunglasses we could all wear them together for one of the pictures.

this is a GREAT idea and it will make for very nice pictures! we took pictures (girls and guys) with shades on, and one of our favorite pictures is the groom and ushers w/sunglasses giving a 'tough' guy look.

we gave away personalized chuck taylor all star shoes for our groomsmen. this allowed for some really fun pictures too! At www.Converse.com you can choose different colors for each part of the shoe, and have a name on the back.

My fiancé is looking for something great to give his groomsmen that they will actually use and appreciate. They are all really fun guys who love music and they all do drink but we'd like to get them something original. Not just a money clip, flask or cuff links...any ideas? If you found a good website let me know too.

My husband gave his groomsmen nice pocket/hunting knives engraved with their names. They all loved them! Just keep in mind that if any of them are flying home, they won't be able to take a knife home in their carry-on luggage, so you might want to provide them with a padded envelope and postage so they can mail it home.

The best gifts my husband ever got were tickets to a baseball game and a gift card to a nice restaurant. Something practical and fun. Nobody really needs another glass or something.

Since you mentioned it joy ride Nick (my bf) is going to try to throw Jim a bachelor dinner on Saturday. (He can't do the party all night thing since he has to work at 3am Sunday morning. He reads news on the radio Saturday and Sunday mornings every other weekend.)

Since he doesn't know them well, maybe he can get them gift certificates to a popular restaurant and to the movies or get them each a flask with there names engraved onto it and included a bottle of something. Make a gift basket for each guy containing a six pack, cozies, lotto tickets, snacks, and a sports illustrated. Offer to pay for there tux rentals.
These guys sound like gentlemen and I am sure they will appreciate what ever they recieve. Our groomsment weren't even expecting gifts, they thought it was just for the bridesmaids so they were happy with anything.

I am getting married in a few months and want to put a little bit of a personal touch on my groomsmen gifts. They will be engraved and will need to be short (like 5 words or less). Every groomsmen gift I've ever received for participating in a wedding just had my initials on it. I want to do something a little different.

How about "thanks for being there" it is a dual sentiment like thanks for always being there for me and thanks for being my groomsman. "You are truly a great friend", "Friend's like you are priceless" or "Friends to the end". Hope this helps and congrats on your marriage.

A wedding that I saw once had really awesome groomsmen gifts. They each got a pair of custom made converse shoes to wear. They did Superhero/Comic Book themed shoes, but they looked really awesome. Honestly when would you ever buy something like that for yourself, and it could make an awesome, very personalized gift. You can get some really great, completely custom made to your designs/specifications at art and sole.com (I'm pretty sure that's the site. Type it into Google) Check it out, maybe something will catch your eye.

A real pearl necklace (apprasial certificate and all). It just made me feel so special & it's something I treasure. I don't wear pearls often but they're very ladylike.

They're actually pretty affordable. I "borrowed" the idea myself for my bridesmaids (different color pearl). pearlsonly.com had the best prices.

I am getting married in May and my fiance and I can not figure out what to get our groomsmen. The best man is a Marine and so is my fiance. And the the other groomsman is 19. We want to get them something they can actually use. Nothing like a flask, cuff links, shot glass, or you know, the 'generic" groomsmen gifts. We are on a VERY tight budget so we want to stay under $50 for both gifts. What are some ideas of things we can give them. And we don't care if they aren't the same thing either. We just want them to have a nice and thoughtful gift. Thanks!

There's no way to get a "non-generic" answer on the Internet, because we don't know these guys.

Just think about what they each like. You don't have to follow a theme or get them a keepsake so they'll "remember" the wedding. Don't shop on "wedding websites," since that stuff is typically tacky and poorly made, and you can get better quality (and usually better prices) on regular websites and stores. And for pete's sake, don't get monogrammed stuff, because nobody ever buys that stuff outside of a wedding.

If one guy likes sports, get him a cap from his favorite team, or a pair of tickets to a game, or a shirt.

If one guy likes wine/beer, get him a nice bottle and a good-quality bottle opener.

If one guys likes the outdoors, get him a pocket knife, sleeping bag, flashlight, etc.

If one guy is stylish, get him some nice sunglasses or a brand-name iPad cover or a watch.

If one guy just bought his first house, get him a Home Depot gift card or a toolbox full of small tools.

Don't knock gift cards, if all else fails. Let them pick out things that they know they need. Just be sure it's to a store or website that you know for a fact they use ... I currently have $100 worth of cards for crappy chain restaurants where I never ever eat. If you really aren't sure what they'd like, just go with a Visa gift card that can be used anywhere.
