what are good gift ideas for 13 year old boys?

Kerri

Answer
Constructive Gifts

Teenage boys enjoy building projects with moving parts and motors. This is a step up from the typical building block projects they built when they were younger. Many modern construction kits come with race car or roller coaster tracks, battery-powered cars, and remote-control construction trucks.

You can provide a 13-year-old with three times the fun when you give construction kits that can be assembled into three or four designs. For example, knex.com says its amusement park kit builds a roller coaster that also can be turned into a swing ride or ferris wheel. Architecture kits inspire kids to design blueprints for creating log cabins, A-frame houses and ranch homes.
Video Games and Consoles

A popular gift for teen boys is a video game console. With so many options, you may not know offhand which one to buy. A good tip is to choose game consoles based on how active your teen is (or how active you would like him to be). Some consoles, especially ones created for sports, are more physically interactive than others and can double as a fitness routine in addition to an entertainment device.

If you opt to give your 13-year-old a video game console, choose games for him that are based on an "E" (Everyone) or "T" (Teen) rating. According to esrb.org, video games rated for everyone contain little or no violence, minimal suggestive themes and only a slight amount of foul language, if any. Games rated for teens, on the other hand, can contain mild bloody violence, a heavier dose of foul language, crude humor, and stronger but non-explicit suggestive themes.
Interactive Battle Gifts

If your teen boy likes to play war with his friends, but you would rather he not use BB guns, purchase him the gift of a paintball gun and paintball mask instead. Since paintball masks must be worn during play, the likelihood of getting an eye or ear shot out is incredibly slim in relation to a BB gun.

Paintball.com experts still stress the importance of paintball safety, however. They recommend always wearing a mask, using barrel plugs or covers whenever the gun is not in use, and keeping the speed of the paintball gun under 300 feet per second.

birthday gift ideas for 17 year old boys?

ok, so my boyfriend is turning 17 in a few days (and don't say I should have thought about it earlier, because my mom was in the hospital so I wasn't able to think of anything else!!) and I am not a good shopper for anything, so any ideas would be great, thanks!

Answer
Well, I don't really know your boyfriend, but since you do, think about:
-What he likes to do in his spare time (One of my friends likes to play video games so I got her a GameStop gift card)
-Where he likes to eat (so maybe you could take him out to a restaurant or get him a Starbucks gift card)
-What he's wanted for a long time/recently (Kinda obvious, but when you two went somewhere has he ever talked about wanting to get a jacket or something?)

I realize this is pretty general. You could also always ask him directly. Usually, boys won't mind if it's not a surprise, but if you do ask him, add your own small touch. Or, you could just buy him a gift card (I know, so many gift cards in this answer!) and I'm sure he won't mind because of your mom being in the hospital. Sorry about your mom, and good luck :)

$10 or less Gift Ideas for 14 year old Boys?

Sweet Box

My daughter drew a 14 year old boy's name out of the secret Santa hat at her Kung Fu class, and I have until next Sunday to buy him something under $10. My daughter is only 7 so she doesn't know anything about him.

Open to any ideas. Whoever's idea I go with will be best answer. :D

Answer
Well, he's 14 so, i wouldn't go with a toy, because he's probably to old for that.(I'm a 14 year old girl). You could get him a tee shirt, or maybe a soccer ball? You could get him a box of chocolates? When I done secret Santa I got a guy and our limit was 15$. So, I got him a gift card for McDonald's and a chocolate orange, or you could a 10$ one, from like Tim Horton's or another cafe? Another option could be an itunes card, if he has an ipod or iphone. Hope I helped, Merry Christmas :)

I live in Baltimore, Maryland and a 13-year old boy from Kawasaki, Japan is staying at my house for 2 and a half weeks. I need to get him several gifts, but unfortunately I don't know anything else about him. Does anyone know any general gift ideas? Would something Baltimore-themed be good, or tacky?

Answer
That's a tough one... typical japanese boys of those age nowadays are into games and mangas of their own country.

If you can at least find out what sort of sports he follows, it would make things little easier. Like, if he follow baseball, then something to do with Ichiro (Seattle Mariners), Daisuke Matsuzaka (Boston Red Sox), or any of the Japanese baseball players would be good. If he follow football, then something to do with David Beckham (Los Angeles Galaxy) might be cool.

I need a gift idea for a 17 year old boy?

I need a gift idea for a 17 year old boy. He's my best friend's son and he was just awarded Rookie of the Year at his local fire house where he is a volunteer. He's into computers, science type things, tv mystery type shows, and, obviously, fire fighting. Any ideas would be way helpful. I'll be seeing him this weekend. Somewhere in the $30 - $50 range. Thanks!

Did he like the Discovery Channel's "Planet Earth" series?

If he did, then take a look at this DVD set:

http://www.amazon.com/Earth-Changed-History-Iain-Stewart/dp/B003DC8824/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1295382650&sr=1-2

"How the Earth Changed History" with host Iain Stewart.
It is fairly new. It came out last year in June.

It is like "Planet Earth" in that it is a grand production by the BBC.
I got it at a local library and watched it all the way through over the course of a week.

It is in your price range with rush shipping.

It is 2 disks. It is not as big as "Planet Earth".
It goes through how the Earth's processes changed history. It deals with different topics. No animal stories like "Planet Earth". These shows cover things like geology and other scientific topics.
There is a section on FIRE.

(If you liked "Planet Earth", then be sure to borrow it from him! LOL)
