what's a good christmas gift for dad?

biatch

he doesnt wear ties & he's already got every tool in the world. i got him a sweet sweater and an ipod last year but he never wears or uses it. what would you get a dad?

Answer
Hey........you love him, right? If he's like me, he will treasure something you produce yourself. Do you do art? Are you a photographer? Do you write? Can you sing? Can you cook? Would he like a special favor, such as cleaning his car really well? You could write a letter to the editor of your local paper and tell the world what you think of your dad. They might not publish a letter due to space, but if you talk to one of the editors first, they might just realize how special it would be. Failing that, you could just take out an ad and tell him you love and admire him.

My daughter gave me a photograph she had taken. It was an artistic piece that she mounted and delivered to me. It holds a prominent place in my home and in my heart. What could have meant more?

You can think of a lot of things to do for your dad. He's worth it.

christmas gift ideas for dad?

well... as everyone knows, christmas is near, but i don't know what i should give to my dad.
surprisingly enough, he isn't that much into electronics, and i don't have much money anyway, so that's out. he's one of those dads that actually likes homemade stuff (you know, cause you made it yourself and all...) he's a food lover and he isn't very sporty but he likes that kind of stuff too. I'd say his favorite hobby would be making stuff. (like woodworking, fixing things and creating weird inventions...)
so what should i get him for christmas?

Useful homemade christmas gifts for dad?

Q. I want a gift that is useful and creative. Looking online for this only turns up gifts for dad form small children. I am in my teens, so I want it to reflect that, in the sense of not being a childish gift. Thank you all in advanced for your help.

Answer
My dad always loved ANY gift that was handmade so I'm sure whatever you can think of will be appreciated. With that said, if you are crafty I would suggest using whatever it is you like to do to make something (not too feminine) for him. Or maybe you could do something you have never done before an the effort would be an added bonus. I am 23 and I just learned to cross stitch about a year ago, so I could cross stitch the badge of my boyfriends beloved football team and make it into a pillow for him, maybe you could do something like tat or something that you could frame and hang on his wall. =] Hope I was helpful!

1. You could get him a gift card to one of his favorite catalogs he receives in the mail. Or, stick to the safe side and get him an Amazon.com gift card.

2. If he works with computers then he's probably smart. Smart dad's dig magazines such as Scientific American, The Economist, and Consumer Reports. Or you could go out on a limb and get him a subscription to one of my favorites, Mental Floss-- it's full of a wide assortment of random and interesting stuff.

3. What are his hobbies and interests (other than computing)? If he's into history, get him a cool book-- one that is "coffee table"-worthy. If he's into space, get him a DVD about the Hubble or dark matter. If he's into sports, spring for a couple of tickets to a pro-game near you.

4. Get him something completely ridiculous from Archie McPhee. They have the best assortment of completely corny, funny toys and gadgets. (Pirate flags! Band-Aids that look like bacon! Inflatable toast?!) Awesome store. http://www.mcphee.com/shop/

5. Get him a smoking jacket, a la Hugh Hefner. Better yet, get him a Snuggie. (Wait a minute-- strike this idea altogether...)

Good luck!

I don't know what to get my dad, so only dads should answer this because only they know. No using the Internet, and it shouldn't be that expensive.

Answer
It depends on your age. My kids are smaller (under 8). Last year, the hand painted me a little breakfast bowl. I thought it was awesome. Now if my kids are older - in their teens, I'd probably be looking for something more functional. But if it's from my kids - they could take me out to a movie, or a dinner. The last thing I need is something I can buy myself. Time ... that's a great gift.

How to be more grateful for my Christmas gift?

Dante Vale

I got $600 and honestly hate the fact that I did. I've never had a true Christmas gift that was heartfelt and had significance behind. Honestly I'd much rather get a card that says how much my parents care for me and Merry Christmas, not something my dad pulls out of his wallet and says here you go son. Not even a ill miss you when I go to college next year.
I consider all the people who got gifts like a teddy bear, home knitted sweater, or any of that cheesy deemed christmas gifts very lucky and should be grateful, instead of an unwrapped rushed neglected gift. It really hurt me to receive my gift the way I did.
Yet I feel bad for not being grateful, but still I'm not, money is literally useless or insignificant for lack of a better term to me.

Answer
Honesty? I would probably just shrug it off, like I do with most things that piss me off. Worrying about stuff is f*cking exhausting and its so much easier to just let it go.
