my best friend's birthday party is coming up in about a week and I don't have money to get her anything. so does anyone have any ideas of a homemade birthday present?

Answer
hi!
1. make her a card. u could even try a pop up card

these are some good websites (just copy and paste them on google):
http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Birthday-Cake-Pop-up-Card-(Robert-Sabuda-Method)
http://www.robertsabuda.com/popmakesimple.asp
the website above doesn't have a pop up birthday card but there are pop up flowers cards for mothers day etc. so it doesn't have to be a cake

you could even print out a card by designing one your self on this website:
http://create.cardnotes.com/create-a-card.lasso

2. bake her a cupcake or cake!
this is always fun! if you have ingredients around your house use them! or ask your mom to get them!
here is a great chocolate cake for cake:
2 cups flour
2 Cups Sugar
¾ Cup Hershey's Cocoa
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
2 Eggs (large eggs)
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Buttermilk

1 Cup Mazola Vegetable Oil
1 ½ Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1 Cup Boiling Water
what to do:
Preheat Oven to 300° F
(This is not a typo! This is a slow bake chocolate cake recipe.)
Use Crisco Shortening to lightly grease and flour the
9 x 13 in. Baking Dish.
(It's a one layer chocolate cake!)
Place all the ingredients on the left into a mixing bowl.
Mix at medium or medium high speed until all ingredients are blended and smooth.
Pour into greased and floured baking dish
Bake for 1 hr. (Cupcakes 20 min.)
Test by sticking in the middle with a knife.
If it comes out clean... it's done!
Allow to cool.

vanilla icing:
1½ lbs. (24 oz.) Powdered Confectioners Sugar
¼ Pound Stick of Butter (Softened)
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Pinch of Salt
Milk
what to do:
Place the powdered sugar, softened butter, and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Add a little milk.
Mix at high speed until smooth and creamy.
Add milk as required to get the right consistency.

3. make a scrapbook of favorateorate memories if you have art supplies! just look up on google how to make a scrapbook easily!
or
decorate your own photo album and have pictures of you and your friends!
websites that might give you ideas:
http://www.simplescrapbooksmag.com

4. Frame a Favorite Quote

Take a favorite quote of a friend or family member. Buy a cfram fram. Or if you donât want to buy a frame, you could take a piece of tag board and cover it with nice paper. Use your best handwriting or favorite font on the computer to write it up. Put in the frame or paste on the tag board. Wrap it up.

5. Coupon Books

To make this work, youâve got to whip out your inner artist. Here are some ideas (these are really good for kids to make for mom or dad):

⢠A car wash
⢠Spa day by you (manicure, pedicure, facial, lunch, etc.)
⢠Dog walking services
⢠Two hours of complimentary house cleaning
⢠Ice cream sundaes
⢠A homemade dinner

Think about any talents or special skills you have and use these as a gift. After youâve brainstormed what you want to do for your friend or family member, cut up construction paper to coupon size, and then write/draw your gift of time.

6.Make Your Own Recipe Book

Does someone you know have a shoebox filled with cut out recipes from magazines, newspapers and the web? Steal the box and paste all of them into a journal. You have just made them their very own personal cookbook filled with all of their favorite recipes. you could even print some recipes out or put your own!

Anybody know any good home made teen gifts?

EvertonAng

So, my friend is turning 18 this year, but since her family is really low income, we've decided to do home made birthday gifts this year. I've never done homemade before, and since this is a big birthday for her I don't want to skimp on her gift. Anybody have any good ideas? She's not really into jewelry, cosmetics, or fashion. She does like horses, wolves, a variety of movies, books, and nature. Thank you a bunch!

For a retirement party for a coworker in the Quality Control department I am thinking of buying a giant tv remote and relabeling the buttons. Like for volume " of husband" etc. anymore ideas for the other buttons? Or other gag gift ideas.

Answer
I've gotten some emails about these over the years. Here are some images I found for you:
http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/20051209/woman-remote-control/
http://www.npw.co.uk/site/brands/worldwideco/remote_control_a_man_woman.php

Also, there are a ton of sites on the internet with retirement gag gifts. I hate to tell you to google and not give you ideas, but I don't have any gag gift ideas.

Good luck!

What is a good retirement present for a Marine?

dude

My dad is retiring at the end of May after 21 years in the Marines. I have no idea what to get him. Im 17 and dont have a job so whatever i get needs to be reasonable enough for my mom to pay for. :)
Any suggestions?

Answer
you could look on the Navy NEX site as they have a vast array of some neat stuff aimed at both active and retiring men and women from all branches.

When my husband retired he was never a big one for having a me me wall, so anything anyone got him was aimed at his hobbies and likes..you know this part of him best............maybe a decent bottle of scotch, a few fine cigars that sort of thing............

Again at the exchange see if they have a retired USMC t,shirt...........

He will more than likely be given a flag at the end of his retirement ceremony, maybe a really nice case for it, do NOT buy this at the exchange as they cost enough to feed a small army for a week, look at your local hobby shops and wait for a good coupon to come out.........

Relax as him getting a gift from you is the last thing on his mind.
