One of my husbands christmas gifts is a guided ghost tour of the city that we live in and the historical buildings and sightings, etc. I purchased the tickets but rather than sending them out to us, we just pick them up at the door. I would like to give him something for christmas to reprsent this gift but can't come up with anything. Anyone have any good ideas as to what I could put under the tree in this case?

Answer
I would make a "flyer" on word or if you know a graphics program like photoshop, use that. Find pics on-line of the stuff you will see and put it in an envelope, when he opens it tell him what it is.

What to get a newborn for her first Christmas?

Due Oct 16

My husband and I are having a little girl next month (October) and in December we will be celebrating her first Christmas. What are some gift ideas to get her considering it will be her first Christmas but at the same time she will still be very small? Just because she's a newborn, I do not want that to be an excuse as to why she doesn't have a good First Christmas. What are some gift ideas?

Answer
Start a college fund/savings fund/buy stock for her. She will be too little to understand what christmas is. She wont be able to unwrap presents. So, it would be silly to be her lots of stuff that she doesn't need.

Start a fund of some sort and make it a family tradition to place money it every holiday. I think there are roughly 10 major holidays but you can add in as many as you would like. If you put in the amount of money she is based on her age at each holiday she could have a nice account started.

1 year of life = $10 (or give extra for her first christmas)
2 year of life = $20
3 = $30
4 = $40

Wrap it in a nicy shiny package and she will be happy

I'm spending Christmas alone this year. My Dad passed away and mother disowned me some time ago. My sister is spending it with her boyfriend's parents. Flatmate is going to her parents place. I'm thinking spending it naked on the couch with a tub of ice-cream in front of a Family Guy/Simpsons/Futurama marathon :D Any other ideas?

(Family isn't available since they sided with my mother. :\ Their loss. And I'm just under 100lb so nothing too fattening... like MacDonald's. Blarg)
n'aww Typo that's so sweet! Thanks to all who suggested I go work at a shelter - had completely forgotten that option ^^

Note: recently moved states, so friends are $400 and a plane ticket away. Not that I wouldn't go see them - I'm just a cheap skate going through college lol

And it's my couch - too bad so sad. It's not like I haven't done worse on it :D

One of the greatest Christmas" I've ever had I spent a couple of day just before Christmas delivering presents for Toys for Tots.

You will find that doing something for others will make the holiday much more enjoyable. Currently my wife and I both work for a hospital. I actually work in pediatrics. I try to go by the hospital for an hour or two on many holidays if I am not working and am in town. I try to do this for Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. We always have fun, generally I spend a few dollars on gifts, and it is always enjoyed by all.

This year we did what we called reverse "trick or treating." We out candy bowls in each room and had different staff members come by during the afternoon with a bag of candy and trick or treat each room. Only in our case the trick or treaters were adult staff members who left candy! We dressed up in some manner, even if it was just a funny had (I have quite a few of these) and painted faces and then took pictures (with the parents permission) which we printed out on the spot and give to the kids.This was the most elaborate event yet and the most expensive. We spend nearly $100 on 8 kids. (All of which was paid for by the nurses.)

We had a blast!
